Love this place! During my first visit, my friends and I had: French toast with fresh strawberries, pecan waffles, eggs with turkey sausage, and a santa fe omlette. French toast and waffles were delicious! Lots of powdered sugar, fluffy, and a good portion. My dish was 2 eggs with turkey sausages which came with an option of 3 pancakes or toast (I went with pancakes) and a side of hashbrowns. Eggs that I ordered overeasy were overdone and not at all yolky, but the AMAZING and huge pancakes and the best hashbrowns (very crispy and well-seasoned) totally made up for it! Santa fe omlette could have used a little more jalepenos, but this omlette was HUGE. I have no idea what they put in here but it was HUGE and fluffly. Again, this dish is also served with either 3 pancakes or toast.

It was nice to get breakfast after noon while traveling, and we enjoyed the ice cream crepes, but the potato pancakes were gray. Not a little gray. Gray. We did not risk eating them.

GF Pancakes! The server just blew my mind! We travel to Petoskey, MI every summer and I love that this place is so close. The coffee is legit, the orange juice tasty and the portions huge! I get an omelet and those GF pancakes and have enough for another meal. Can you say Brinner? The staff is attentive while still leaving you alone to do your thing. Take the paper, relax and sit on the covered and screened in patio. Can't wait for next summer 2014!!

The food and service were only ok. The kids in our group really liked their Chocolate Chip Pancakes!

I thought this place was great. Excellent service and coffee. Some of the best pancakes Ive had in a while.

Awesome breakfast. Beautiful omelettes and good corned beef hash. Fresh squeezed juices. Always busy but wait is usually less than stated. Never had bad service here.

The service was horrible and awkward from the moment we stepped in the door. They were not overly rude, just disorganized. The service was slow with no explanation or apology but I hoped the food would redeem it. It did not. My omelette was unrecognizable as an omelette In appearance and taste. The only thing good anyone at our table ordered were strawberry crepes. The pancakes were okay but if u call yourself the pancake house they should be great. The location is nice though.

The food was really great here. I had steak and poached eggs, and my girlfriend got eggs and bacon (we also shared a French crepe). Everything was great. I ordered my steak cooked medium, perfect. Ordered eggs poached, perfect. I tried my girlfriends bacon... Amongst the best bacon I've had. The French crepe was perfect, and I've had tons of them in France to compare. The only small thing I would change, is have designated hostess and station. Though they weren't, they came off as a bit unfriendly if overwhelmed. That wasn't a huge issue though, service overall was very good as was speed. Love this place!

We're very happy with the new management of the Original Pancake House in Bay Harbor. We like what they've done to spruce the place up - it was long overdue for a good cleaning! The menu is the same as always, but we think the staff are better trained and friendlier. We ordered pancakes and sausage gravy with poached eggs and they were great. Can't understand the negative reviews.

One word.....AMAZING. After struggling with a decision of what to order, I decided to go with an order of the Cinnamon French Toast, a side of a 49er Pancake (kinda like a Swedish pancake) and a side of bacon. The bacon was truly the thickest and best bacon I have ever had. The French toast and 49er pancakes were awesome. Aside from the food, the service was great, waitress was friendly and the manager appeared to visit every table to see how the food was. Will definitely be back when we return to Petoskey.

I normally very much enjoy any Original House of Pancakes experience wherever I visit. This one however pales in comparison. The diet coke was bubbly and very good, and the bacon was excellent and the side of pancakes were as expected. The scrambled eggs were like rubber. I relieve they use low quality eggs. It was very noticeable and I am not much of a cook but my wife tells me it is very difficult to screw up scrambled eggs. It really impacts the experience. Service was decent, and the manager checked in on me so no complaints there. Wish this place was better as it is so convenient. Work on those eggs fellas.....

Busy place, neat menu, specialty items were worth the extra wait. Our order was messed up so they gave us 20% off our bill. Food was great, I'd definitely go again!

Showed up today for a bite to eat. The hours posted are 7am-2pm. When we arrived at 1:35 the door was locked. I called to see if there was an error. I was basically given a variety of answers that boiled down to the fact that they just wanted to get out of there and go home. No apologies. I've been dining here for years and enjoy the food. However, if I can't count on a business being open during their advertised hours then I'm not going to make the effort to drive all the way there with the chance that they feel like going home early. So, no more OPH for this guy.

I honestly can't even give this place one star after the service we received today. From the very start of our experience all the way to the end was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. The second we walked in the hostess was extremely rude and short with each customer that came through the door. We got seated fairly quickly and our server greeted us. The menu looked great and we ordered...not even FIVE minutes later my fathers "corned beef hash" came out. It looked as if they had opened a can, smooshed it into a flat circle and threw it on a plate. My moms meal came out...she ordered an omelet with spinach, tomato and Swiss inside. None of the ingredients she ordered was inside. She stuck her fork all through the omelet and even took a bite to see. My friend and I never even received our meal because we left before it had the chance to arrive. I politely informed our waitress of what was wrong with the meals so far and just asked for it to be corrected....what happened next is where we had to get up and leave. Our waitress took our, now; cold, under cooked, half eaten food and walked over to the next table and SERVED IT TO THE NEXT GUESTS! YUCK! The manager (who had a big chew in his mouth) was informed and he said "yeah, I saw that". Adios, OPA!

Avoid the omelets! They may look interesting, but you'll need a lot of hot sauce to be able to choke it down. The white cheddar and bacon omelet contained almost no white cheddar or bacon. The pancakes weren't bad, and I couldn't get enough of the rye toast. The service was also very friendly.

I was very disappointed with the meal, I got the breakfast "special", what a mistake. It was called the sausage scramble, the eggs weren't done by a long shot, the sausage were just cut up links, plus some cheese. Our waiter was a zombie, no personality at all, hardly a word out of him, had to ask someone else for a coffee refill. I know it was the Art Fair, but come on. I will try again in the fall I hope things will improve by then. No one even bothered to stop by and ask how things were including our waiter.

This place is disappointing. I came here two years ago and I thought it was amazing but now it is horrible the chocolate chip pancakes are bad all they did was put chocolate chips on top of their regular really bad pancakes. Their Santa Fe omelettes were bad they did not have a lot of vegetables in it and we're mostly just eggs and really expensive for a peace of CRAP! The Greek omelette was bland and my sister who likes anything said that it was not good . If I was going to go to a original house of pancakes I would go to the one in grosse point. P.S. The manager is mean and the staff is slow

Have been to this particular location several times, it is always busy on the weekends and there host staff is very unorganized. The food is good but pricy don't know that it's worth the hassle!

Service was awfully slow. Took us 35 minutes to get our breakfast after we ordered and it wasn't that busy. Omelette was overlooked.

Meh. The food was okay, decently priced and good sized portions, but the service was seriously lacking. Got my omelet wrong even after coming to double check what I ordered, then we never got a drink refill and it took almost 20 minutes to get our bill after the gal came by to ask if we were ready for it. The actual pancakes were delicious. Probably would not go back.

The food is good, but the service is terrible! I've been going here once a year or so for about ten years, and the heavyset blond waitress, Stacy, is hands down the most rude waitress I've ever encountered - ANYWHERE. They flat out refuse to split checks, and they barely acknowledge that you're there. I do love their cinnamon swirl french toast and their bacon pancakes, but the coffee is absolutely awful, and they don't have real maple syrup. Bummer.

Absolutely horrible. We've been here many times and had excellent meals, but this time, it took three tries just to help the waiter understand what we ordered, then we got the wrong food, and it was prepared very poorly.

I really enjoy their breakfasts, but it is seriously over-priced. You don't get ANY sides with any breakfast entrees (i.e. hash browns with your omelet, etc.). I usually don't get the omelets because they're a gigantic souffle. Everything else on the breakfast menu is great. It's also really busy on weekends and the service can be quite slow. If you've got time and money, this is your place. If not, just head over to Flap Jack Shack or Big Boy in Petoskey to grab some quick, non-fancy breakfast.

The Original Pancake House is located in Bay Harbor, not Petoskey. I usually don't review chains, but this place is pretty good so I'm making an exception. Everything I've had here was tasty - the french toast is amazing, the blueberry pancakes were great, the omelettes are nice, and they use thick cut applewood smoked bacon. The only thing I didn't like was the coffee, very average. Service is usually good, but it's usually pretty busy in the mornings and there is a wait sometimes...

To call the staff at this restaurant rude would be kind. I have never been treated more poorly at any other restaurant in my life. When we asked to be seated outside the hostess acted as if we asked her to perform some impossibly difficult task. Rather than hand us our menus, she tossed them onto the table and walked away. When our waitress finally approached, she barely acknowledged our presence. The cup of coffee I ordered to start the meal took over 10 minutes to arrive. When it did arrive I had no spoon to stir in the cream that had been sitting on our table. In fact, no table settings were provided during the first 15 minutes that we were at our table. When I asked the waitress for table settings, she sort of huffed, produced four knives, four forks and four napkins and laid them down at the end of our table, leaving my family to set them up ourselves. We should have walked out at that point but I wanted to see how bad this could actually get from a service standpoint. I ordered an omelette and asked for one yolk rather than three. At that point, the waitress informed me that the eggs in all of the restaurant's omelettes were from a batch of previously beaten eggs so that only having one yolk would not be possible. When I asked her to have the cooks crack new eggs for my omelette so that I could have only one yolk in the dish she rolled her eyes and stormed off. My wife ordered two poached eggs, fresh strawberries and toast. She received one poached egg, no toast and no strawberries. Laughingly, the strawberries were about to be brought to our table 45 minutes later as we were leaving and paying our bill. This restaurant has the luck of being the only breakfast establishment in the area otherwise its rude and inattentive service would have and should have resulted in its demise years ago. I will never return to this place. Do yourself a favor and avoid this restaurant at all costs.
