Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

My overall experience from my last 5 times visiting is highly positive. The wines are well chosen as is the liquor selection. Noah, one of the bartenders there, is very helpful in selecting the wine or spirit that pairs best with your entree, and his friendly attitude is very welcoming. The menu changes with what is seasonally available, and never disappoints with the flavors and variety. Our most recent visit had a service failure that resulted in my main entree being barely lukewarm by the time I received it. While the waiter failed to keep us posted of this delay in our food, the manager was exceptionally helpful and left both my wife and I feeling that our concerns were understood and resolved to our satisfaction.

i have been here 3 times. every time, the food has been pretty good to very good, and the service has been pretty poor to very poor. here are some examples: -being told that the restaurant does not have milk, and not being offered any options for any type of milk substitute (ie: half and half? almond milk? soy milk? bueller? bueller?) -making a reservation, showing up at our reservation time, being taken back to sit down, being left standing awkwardly in the middle of the dining room without being seated by the hostess for several minutes, being stared at by other diners as we stand there, seeing several open tables that we could be seated at, being taken back up front to wait and told that "our" table isn't ready, watching other people with later reservation times walk in and get seated, asking why we can't sit at one of the other open tables, being told by the hostess "that would be too confusing for me," finally getting seated 20 minutes after we arrived and watching one of the open tables that we previously could not get seated at STAY OPEN THE ENTIRE NIGHT -asking for recommendations or questions about specific menu items and being told by the waiter that he doesn't know because he hasn't tried those things -servers not checking back in after you get your food (or checking back in when you are almost done) -servers looking bored and gossiping in the corner rather than working tannin is too expensive, and presents itself as too upscale, to be having these issues. all of these issues are fixable with proper training. the food is generally very good, as are the drinks, and i really do not understand why management doesn't place a higher priority on training its service properly.

Haven't been here for a long time and was looking forward to their yummy chicken marsala and potatoes (at least they were yummy the last time I had them). It did not look or taste even remotely like it had in the past. There was an orange goo over the whole dish, the mushrooms were some weird fungus (last time they were morels, which are not in season now, but I would at least expect an identifiable and tasty mushroom). The chicken was tough, the service was mediocre and the whole thing was overpriced. I'm getting tired of cooking at home, but this is what it has come to. Lansing area restaurants are just such a huge disappointment and overpriced. At least the glass of wine was good, but I could almost buy a whole bottle for the price and make a better dish at home myself.

I think I'm a pretty harsh critic when it comes to reviewing restaurants but in this instance, I can only be harsh on myself for not coming here sooner! I'm moving soon and I could kick myself because this place is AMAZING! I had shied away because they advertise themselves as an Italian restaurant, which I don't overly care for. However, I think they offer more of a French style. For those who complain about the price....really? Lansing has so few fine dining restaurants and you people are exactly why. If you want cheap food, go to Crunchy's or any of the other million burger places in town. I found the price to be absolutely outstanding for the food and drinks. My boyfriend and I came for dinner on their anniversary. We didn't realize this but it was great because their wine was half off. We split a bottle of wine, a red blend that was delicious. With the discount it was only $20, normally the cost was $40. Either way, it was great wine and went very well with our food. For the appetizer, we got the cheese and charcuterie plate. It was outstanding, probably the best cheese and charcuterie plate I have ever had. They had this local cheese that was to die for. For dinner, I had the short rib and my boyfriend had the lamb special. My short rib was so good. It fell off the bone and the tomato sauce it came with was so delicious. My boyfriend cleaned his plate and I did try the lamb. It had a fresh flavor, with herbs, and was served overtop this decadent gratin. We decided to go for dessert and chose the tiramisu. It was perfect, with a hint of cinnamon. Our waiter was so attentive and we sat outside on the patio which was delightful. I can't say enough good things about this place. Our bill came to $104 which is amazing, for an appetizer, a bottle of wine, two entrees, and dessert.

Went there for my anniversary with my wife. I ordered the skirt steak which I incorrectly assumed was a steak and not a stew. The waiter was great (the reason for the second star) and offered to replace my meal with anything on the menu. I asked for the pork chops. It was close to closing time so I took a quick bite of it when it arrived before I noticed that the inside was the color of sushi tuna. It was completely raw. I am now enjoying the lovely experience of salmonella poisoning. Not pleasant at all.

This place is awesome! We sat at the bar and Noah, the bartender, took fabulous care of us. His recommendations were right on the mark! Everything was delicious. We had duck breast and the chicken Marsala. The best way to describe it is"YUM!" You can be gluten free without sacrificing the flavor. Try Noah's cedar smoke infused cocktails! Worth the visit!

For the second Sunday in a row, my daughter and I went to Tannin for brunch. The Facebook coupon got us in the door, but the food brought us back. The menu changes constantly so be aware that you may love something and it won't be there the next week. On our first visit, we shared the beet salad, the smoked whitefish cakes w pesto, eggs, and asparagus, and the coronetti (sp?) for dessert. All three items were amazing!! The coronetti is like a chocolate croissant, only better. If it is on the menu, don't hesitate -- order it!! Today we shared the pancakes and the steak sandwich. I liked last week's choices better, but the food today was still wonderful. And the service was impeccable.

After looking at the menu, I was excited about what appears to be a list of items that are not the standard of what you would find in the sexy food desert that is Okemos. The land of no taste. So with that being said, I was a tad skeptical about what I was about to endure. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the staff, the décor, and especially the food. Moreover, although the service was good, it took us 3 HOURS to eat here for lunch. Now I know this was mother's day and was far less packed than they anticipated, which I would assume causes no rhythm. A busy kitchen is an efficient one, not the case yesterday. The food: Since we were celebrating Mother's Day and we had a party of eight plus three kids, we were able to explore much of the menu and see how Tannin does. The kids had the Mac n' Cheese with Duck and Bacon on the side. Luckily was sitting next to one of these patrons, which allowed me to steal bite after bite and it was fantastic. This was also a great thing since my dish came out last and again, lunch took 3 hours so these bites satisfied me while I waited. My wife had the eggplant with chicken and I had the salmon, both dishes were great but they both could use some seasoning or simply some salt. My parents shared the tasting menu, this order what I am guessing caused the super slow service. All of our dishes were great but I will have to say that this place knows how to manipulate potatoes, some of the best I have ever had. In addition, they gave us all champagne to pacify us for the slow service. Now at first I was oh yeah, crappy champagne that will make me more annoyed, however, I was corrected quite quickly once it exploded on my taste buds. The smooth Prosecco with a touch of honey was awesome. I also too the waiters advice and had the Millet not on the menu and it was much better than the New Zealand critter wine. Overall, even though the service (the kitchen) was crazy slow and in most cases would deter me from ever trying a restaurant again, but I will definitely be back the next time I am in Okemos for a client or parental outing. For those who read this I encourage you to try this place and be understanding, they are still learning.

Every time I review a restaurant (which is somewhat rare, to be fair) I look for three or four things: quality and well though out food, great service, good cocktails, and the overall ambience. Tannin hits all points. In Lansing, choices for higher end dining are limited, so I am very pleased to have come across this place. Their drinks are boozy and innovative and the at staff. Will whip up anything based on your preference. The menu is an ever-changing 'farm to table' concept with great appetizers and composed entrees. I honestly have never ordered anything I didn't like--beef filet, duck, wild boar--all were delicious. The service blows any other place in Lansing out of the water. Yes, the bill will be higher than most other restaurants here, but it is worth it for what you get if you want the experience. Now, five stars...sure it's not a five star restaurant by Chicago or other big city standards. But for Lansing, I'd give it 10.
(5)Bob T.
Good lacked flavor and service was awful. I usually don't ask for salt, but the panzanella was flavorless and my gimelli entree was flat. Really disappointed.
(2)Chadd H.
Would give this place 4-1/2 stars which is typically my indicator on Yelp that the place will deliver a great experience every time. I got that sense with Tannin though this was our first visit. We went here with friends and it was excellent. Appetizer (Gnudi), salad (beet salad) and each of our entrees (chicken morel, skirt steak and a risotto with shrimp and scallops) were all fantastic. Excellent wine selection. Great drink selection. Service was spot on. There are only little things that could be done to make it five stars: you pass the patio on the way in; just plain black tables, debris on the concrete, no decorations. They need to dress this space up with a string of lights, blow off the concrete, add some planters, etc. On the way to our table, there were holes in the wall where something was hanging previously. Not something you'd expect from a place of this caliber. The bread was underwhelming and the oil was served in a small, metal condiment cup. The bread should be upgraded (maybe bring in from Roma Bakery) and oil should be served in a shallow dish for community dipping. The oil itself was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and our server (Mike is awesome). Will definitely go back. All the things we noted were more aesthetic and easily fixed. So nice to go to a place that delivers on the total experience. Keep up the good work!

Went for dinner on a Thursday night with a big group of people (about 20). They had live music (piano and something else, I forget), which was nice but made it difficult to have a conversation. Wine selection seemed good, and the red I had was good enough (i.e., it didn't blow me away). The food: Complimentary bread was chewy and tasty, dipping oil was flavorful. Prosciutto pear appetizer was good. Mushroom ragout was very rich and creamy--I couldn't finish the entire thing. While I enjoyed it, all the bites were the same, and I wished I had gotten something else. I didn't have to pay for dinner, and I couldn't afford to come here very often. Patrons seem to be older and sophisticated folk who can afford these prices. Our waitress was professional and polite but did not seem to be genuinely cheerful--I'm sure it wasn't easy to take care of a large group at the end of the night. The entire dinner took 2.5 hours (without dessert). I would probably go back if I had the funds to try other things (the whole roasted trout and duck breast looked good). But, I wouldn't say that this restaurant totally blows me away (others in our party thought it was very good). I suppose it's good for Okemos/East Lansing, but it definitely wouldn't be as good in more cosmopolitan cities. Also, maybe it's typical American cuisine, but the flavors weren't terribly interesting or even complex. I would say that Red Haven, while less consistent in the quality of their food, tends to have more flavorful food, do you know what I mean?

I had the Ceasar Salad topped with salmon. overall, it tasted very good. I was disappointed with the size of the piece of salmon, couldn't have been more than 3 oz. not what I expected for $9. I sat at the bar and I felt that the area was not well kept. I'm a bit mixed with the attention to detail and the expense of their expansive wine selection.

Really wanted to experience what other reviewers have, unfortunately I found the service horrible. I went for lunch with a friend, we were the only people dining in the restaurant for our entire stay. We put our order in and had already been waiting a long time when the waiter brought us bread and dipping oil, which was delicious. It took quite a while for our food to come out. I got the charcuterie sandwich because I wanted to try the nduja (italian sausage spread) and they didn't even remember to put it in the sandwich! So the waiter brought some out in a condiment cup for me and I had to finish preparing my food. Also, I asked if I could have roasted red pepper sauce in my sandwich instead of artichoke tapenade. They did swap it out but then did not put on any whole grain dijon aioli! The nduja was good but tasted similar to hot italian sausage Ive had before, not really the novelty I was expecting. The inside is nicely decorated and they give the appearance of a more upscale restaurant. The food was good, not that great.

The food was fantastic. The duck and Boar Shank were great. Great wine selection and excellent service.
(5)Tim G.
Excellent food but quite expensive. Very loud so hard to hold a conversation. Service was pretty slow but our waiter knew the menu and kept our beverages filled. Okay for a special occasion but not going here on a regular basis.

We gathered at Tannin for lunch at Tannin earlier this month to celebrate a family birthday. Since my last visit, which also resulted in a favorable Yelp review (relegated to those not recommended, I think because I offered insufficient detail), Tannin has added an outdoor patio area, which was very pleasant for the day we were there. Although it is not a large restaurant, they easily accommodated our party of 8, and the service was excellent. The food was again superb. We shared several appetizers and among them the Moroccan guacamole was truly excellent. My entrée, the Chicken Marsala, was out of this world. I agree with the other reviewers who note the amazing flavor combinations that Tannin's chef achieves. A morel sauce and ramp-smoked mozzarella gratin. As a Kentucky resident I know ramps and cook with them when I can get them. This was an amazing use because they go so well with potatoes. As a regular Michigan visitor I fancy morels as the most flavorful of mushrooms. (After drying they can come in second to porcinis, but not when fresh.) If you go to Tannin before they change the menu again--it was almost completely refreshed from when I was last here last summer--do consider trying this dish. The wine list continues to be of very high quality and features mostly selections that I have not seen or found anywhere else. This is a GREAT place. I will be trying to find a reason to get back to Michigan soon.

Wow what s great high end restaurant. Food was amazing, staff was friendly and had a great atmosphere inside. All around great restaurant!

Since Tannin opened last summer, my husband and I have returned over and over again. The wine list is unique and incredible. The food is simply amazing, artistic and inspired. Flavorful and daring combinations that you rarely see in Lansing. Decor is minimalist and modern that let's you enjoy the food and wine. No distracting tv's, just great company and fresh plates!
(5)Lehua L.
I had high hopes for this place and I am going to give them one star because generally the wait staff were pleasant (though rushed). Otherwise, though, I was pretty disappointed. I understand that this place just opened, so they may still be figuring out how to get quality control of their food, but I paid $50 for food that was less than mediocre. It took 45 minutes for our food to come out. I got two appetizers (a watermelon and prosciutto salad, which was just ok, and fried asparagus, which was also fine). When we finally got our meals, though, I got a lamb and gnocchi dish that contained very little, unevenly made gnocchi (maybe 5 pieces) swimming in red sauce with tiny pieces of meat--it was like eating a big bowl of sauce. The other entree, which was supposed to braised short ribs with risotto, contained pieces of mostly inedible fat with a few bites of meat, and watery undercooked risotto. They took the risotto off the bill for us, but I still paid for rest of the meal. I'm glad to see new restaurants opening in greater Lansing and I support local businesses, but this place has to step up its game if it's going to charge the kinds of prices that it does--I ended up having to buy a frozen pizza from Kroger afterwards because there wasn't enough food in that meal (which at full price would have been close to $80) to be satisfied.

My husband ate at this brand new restaurant the other night and LOVED IT!!! It's a small place and has only been open a few weeks but we were very impressed with the food! The sun was setting at the time of our reservation (8p) and became very blinding because they have no window coverings... but maybe they plan to add them? Hopefully. It did take several minutes for our server to come by but once she did the service was great. We were able to taste a couple of wines before selecting and tasted a soup. Which was EXCELLENT! Roasted tomato with bacon. yummy. We were served bread and olive oil while we waited for our first course. I ordered the heirloom tomato caprese salad, topped with arugula. It was so yummy! My husband chose the other roasted garlic tomato soup with a slice of mozorella cheese on top. yummy! For our main course I ordered the braised lamb gnocchi... they must have perfected it since the first opened because it was loaded with pasta and lamb! The sauce was amazing you can tell it had been stewing for hours!! My husband ordered the filet which was served with garlic mash, zucchini and a tasty sauce. Everything we ordered was fantastic!! I immediately told several friends this is a MUST TRY!! We will definitely be going back

Promising, but need to de-bug a few things. Off the bat . . . the place is large. The decor is contempo, but spare to the point of severe. Need something on the walls (if for no other reason than to quiet the echoes in there a little bit.) Staff is very friendly, although a little unsure of the menu on a given day. I think they are switching up items a lot, which makes it a little tough on the servers to keep up. That said . . . we civilians need them to let us know what's good (and what's really GREAT!) that day, right? The food was OK, but as others have hinted, not worth the current prices. I had Capellini with garlic, herbs, and parmesan. A pretty basic Italian rustic dish. Well, clumped capellini (didn't get it out of the water fast enough), and sparse on the oil. Flavors were nice, but . . . hard to look past having to de-construct wads of pasta. We split a beet salad; tasty, but hadn't de-gritted the greens completely (again, pretty basic.) My wife had eggplant napoleon, which was well-seasoned, but this time on a bed of overly al dente pasta (instead of the quinoa, which was on the menu.) Wines - nice ones, but kind of limited selection (for a self-touted "wine bar".) If you are a true oenophile, head to Dusty's nearby (which has a much more complete selection.) I'll give Tannin another try in a few months. Either they will step up their game (I hope!), or be on the slide to extinction.

Big Fan of Tannin! Great owners and amazing food, the chef is very creative. the food is soo good, Dusty goes there for dinner to!
(4)Alex A.
I came here with my girlfriend on Valentines day, and had a pretty poor experience. First off, the atmosphere is just definitely lacking, as it's just a small open space with table and little decor. They do have a nice bar and the drinks were fantastic (that's why they are getting 2 stars rather than 1). Before I complain about the dinner it should be noted that we are very picky eaters, meaning high expectations for nice restaurants. We go out to dinner often and love very intricate and fancy dishes. So for v-day we were forced to order off a 4 course dinner which contained 4-5 things to choose from. The cost was $55, which I will pay any day for great food, except it wasn't so great. I also like the idea of a set list and smaller menus, but we had a hard time picking a dish from each and none really stood out. Instead of detailing every dish, I will try to sum it up as easy as I can. This place tries to be way too overly fancy with very small portions and obscure ingredients. I think that the owner just doesn't realize he is in mid-Michigan and located in a strip mall. I like just about everything, but my girlfriend ordered the chicken and rabbit appetizer, and it literally looked and tasted like cat food (the wet kind out of a can - haven't tasted it but I imagine they are similar :-) So to sum up an already long review, it was a major disappointment. The service was solid and the cocktails were fantastic (if you like Manhattans, get the Rob Roy), but we will not be back. After spending around $175 on two people, I would at least like to have a full stomach, but I went straight to dreaming about the Hot n' Ready we could have had that would have been way more satisfying.
(2)Betsy S.
Such an amazing restaurant! Great service with such interesting, delicious (and local) meals. Every dish was freshly made and I couldn't have had a better experience!!
(5)Littlemac F.
The food was decent, but certainly not worth the price. The service was very prompt and friendly.
(2)Ashley P.
Delicious! Scallops Crudo and the Braised Lamb Sugo is a must! Also, the Grapefruit IPA is awesome and you can't find it anywhere else, along with the wine. Definitely worth a visit.
(5)Dan W.
starting with 3 stars because I see potential, but they are not there yet. Ambience - excellent decor, but the size of the space makes the experience feel a bit sterile - they would benefit from pumping in some light background music. Table was also bare - we would have liked some salt and pepper for the bread and olive oil. Wait staff - numerous and not overbearing - we were tended to by at least 4 people for dinner. Food took way too long to get to us. Food - they were out of the Prosciutto and Watermelon which was disappointing, and our warm olives (weird) took way too long to get to the table. Lamb Sugo was good but didn't blow me away. My wifes Tagliatelle was really good and I wished I had ordered that instead. Pasta quality was what I would hope for in an italian restaurant. Beer selection was good, wine selection was lacking for a place called "Tannin" overall - I think they need a few months to get their footing - we'll try it again at some point, but we're going to wait.
(3)Craig S.
Very interesting. My wife and I dined here on a Saturday night. We agree that the food was 4 1/2 to 5 stars. The filet was slightly over-cooked, but delicious and tender, artistically plated, perfectly prepared. My salmon was awesome. Food-wise, we were very satisfied. The service was strange. We arrived early and sat at the bar. The bartenders were very friendly and introduced themselves with a handshake. Unfortunately his hands were still soaking wet from having just wasjed glasses, which I thought was kind of yucky. I ordered a drink, Grey Goose, lemonade and basil leaves, which must have freaked out the bartender becasue I had to remind him 3 times what I ordered. The second time, he presented me with a cranberry and vodka drink. Then to top things off, he proceeded to chat us up for ten minutes, telling us of his moving troubles, his cat, his girlfriend, while I was still waiting for my drink. Just plain weird. Anyway - the food was great, but the place was way too noisy to carry on a conversation.
(3)Karen S.
Classy and attentive. The food was pretty, creative, and delectable! We went recently for the chef's tasting and were very pleased, though the wine pairings, while good, seemed a little haphazard. Can't wait to go back!
(5)Jessi T.
After reviewing the website for Tannin we were looking forward to visiting this new restaurant. Unfortunately our expectations were not met. After being open for only one week they were already out of many things. My husband ordered the spartan chicken which was in need of flavor and color. I ordered the scallops which were amazing. The one specialty cocktail they did have the ingredients for was quite tasty. I am willing to go back and try this restaurant again, perhaps after they've been open for a few months and worked out the kinks. I wish them luck.
(3)Jonathan R.
Welcome to Tannin. Day #2, so this is right out of the gate. Ambitious, experienced for the area, and worth a visit soon. Diverse, enjoyable food. Excellent quality. Flavors very good, maybe slightly restrained but all are right on. Fresh, generous, satisfying. Yes, fresh. Friendly, eager staff and owners. Comfortable rooms and chairs. Good bar. How did our community get to add Fork in the Road, Meat BBQ, Red Haven, and now Tannin in just about one year? Support your local restaurant pioneers.
(4)Amanda R.
Giving this place two stars and hoping it gets better. I thought the wine list was interesting, but limited; however, our server seemed quite knowledgable about the selections. The noise level was WAY too loud for a bistro/fine dining place-I have been to sports bars that were less noisy! My biggest disappointment (sadly) was the food: I was excited to see "lamb of the day" on the menu, since I love lamb and it is hard to find lamb preparations other than rack of lamb at many restaurants, but what I received was a bowl of roasted lamb slices, CHICKEN wings and PORK meatballs! Really? Just tell me you're out of lamb -don't serve a platter of meat leftovers and pass it off as "lamb of the day"! My friend had the tagliatelle with chicken-she received a white plate, with white sauced pasta, and a white chicken breast. No color, no garnish, nothing interesting or "fine dining" at all.

Found this restaurant using Yelp, we live in Grand Haven MI, and our son is working in the physics labs at MSU for the summer, it was his birthday and he wanted Italian. So we drove to Okemos, found the place and sat down at the bar as we were early for our reservation. We had more fun with Jess, who is making all kinds of home made bitters for drinks, plus we got a sample or two of some new beer she was going to add to the list from a micro brew in Grand Haven. I had braised short ribs, my wife had the lamb, and our son had the chicken. All were spectacular, and we have eaten in France, Germany, etc. etc. The drawback was the noise level, as others have noted, but of course I don't think the restaurant can pick its patrons, but I've never heard ten women be so loud!!!!! Two tables of four and one of two, but holy cow, we could not hear ourselves think! and we wanted to discuss Ayn Rand objectivism with our son. Cool huh? The food was superb, we will go back when we visit him at MSU, noise level or not.
(4)Kristopher A.
Outstanding! Came with business associates for dinner and had a great experience. This place is tucked into a shopping center in a suburban area a few miles from MSU and was recommended by a client. The service was prompt, but not overbearing. Cocktails were fast and very good. Had a local salad as a starter. It was perfectly blended with the dressing. I wasn't going to order a starter, but the server noticed I was the only one who hadn't, and sent it over. I am glad he did. It was a great opening act. For my entrée, I had a lamb dish with gnocchi and brie. While not at all what I expected (it came almost as a stew) it is one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. Food was hot, but not the plate (meaning it came out right away). The flavor of the lamb came right through the sauce, cheese and gnocchi. A few in our group were drinking scotch, and the server sent over a complimentary tasting of a new one they had just received. It was a classy touch. I am in the area often for work, and look forward to introducing other colleagues to this place.
(5)Alessa T.
This is a superb restaurant with great service, an expansive wine list, and fantastic farm to table food! Also has a good atmosphere, surprising because it is in a mini-mall type area. And the server let me sample a wine before ordering a glass and was great at recommending wines. We will definitely be back.
(5)Brian L.
What a cluster fuk of a restaurant. After the waitress spilled red wine on my jacket, she denied her actions, management was slow to respond, and we endured a tasteless food experience with an absentee server. Drive thru at McDonald's would have been a better value. Furthermore, the server broomed and hustled us out the door. Dine here at your own peril. Save your money and support another establishment that cherishes the customer.

Fantastic food. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Excellent wine selection.

Finally a top quality restaurant to rival the bazillions of unique food choices offered in Ann Arbor! The menu selections, extensive wine list, super attentive, personal service, exquisite presentation, and unmatched quality are all now available in this area! With kids in both AA and EL, dining out is inevitable. In EL, we are usually forced to settle for pub food or lackluster cuisine typical of a college town more focused on cheap food and drink deals. No longer, hallelujah! The guacamole was fresh and tasty and uniquely served with pita points. The roasted pepper and tomato soup came out piping hot and accompanied by the freshest bread and flavorful butter ever! Our pasta dish and local cheese and vegatable entree's (the plowman), wildly surpassed all expectations, and the chocolate dessert was the picture perfect encore. Far above the quality though was the outstanding service provided by our trio of handsome waiters who anticipated every need, creatively answered each question, and attentively presented each dish and beverage with a friendliness that will keep us coming back. We sat outside on the patio and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner in this lively, quiet refuge from the Big 10 world of MSU. Go Tannin!

Extraordinary wine selection...many quality independent wines add an exciting dimension. Attentive service and impressive attention to detail. Excellent Scotch selection. This place is a jewel, and a rarity in the greater Lansing area.
