Our server was really nice and very attentive, so I would suggest to her that she find a better place to work so she can make some money. Now for my review... The food is terrible. The end. Sort of. We stayed at the Fairfield Inn the night before an MSU football game and Frank's was just across the parking lot, so we went for a few drinks and some food. The sign says "bar and grill." Let's not exaggerate, Franks. Call yourself a bar with barely edible food if you really really have no other choice. We ordered pitchers of beer and margaritas which were on special. They were fine, your average dive bar/restaurant drinks. Then we ordered the appetizer sampler which came with a measly 2 of each thing. Two barely warm mozzeralla sticks, 2 gross chicken fingers, 2 ok jalapeno poppers and 2 burnt potato skins. We needed more food so we ordered a full order of the mozz sticks hoping this time they'd be warm since the flavor wasn't bad and they were fine that time. I also ordered the beer battered fried mushrooms. Disgusting, flavorless canned mushrooms that were not cooked all the way b/c the breading was raw on the inside. The mushrooms were soggy and water was spurting from them. They were not seasoned in any way. So you could not even say "There was good flavor they just weren't cooked all the way." Perhaps the cook here has not watched Restaurant Impossible or Kitchen Nightmares where the first suggestion is to actually season your food! Oh and the claw machine there is broken, you can only move the claw backward and forward and not to the side, so beware and do not put any money in the machine. Never see you again, Franks. I received a message from Brett D. who was unhappy with my review, I would just like to state that if anyone thinks that just because you are at a bar, the food needs to be nasty, not cooked properly and tasteless, then I'm sorry that your standards are lower than mine, but don't be mad at me, it's your fault that you are ok with paying for that.

Can't comment too much behind fries, sliders, and beer. The fries are amazing - lightly battered and double fried crisp. Sliders are decent and an excellent deal at $.99 on Wednesdays, and the beer selection is pretty good for an east side bar just off the freeway. Make no mistake, though - this is no "beer bar" but a well-versed patron can enjoy a good night on their taps.

Used to be a great place for after-work drinks/happy hour... They took the one good thing off the menu (jalapeno poppers). I have ordered one other thing there in the several years I'd gone, and I wouldn't actually ever get anything else there... So now that they're gone, I can honestly say I won't be back. I will echo the reviews of the previous Yelpers... awful service, pretty horribly greasy food... etc etc. Seriously, the poppers & raspberry dipping sauce were their saving grace. It's too bad. but not really.

The service was really slow. There was a mistake with my order, it came out warm- not hot and my salad came out about 15 minutes after I was done with my meal.

Always disappointed. They have a handful of craft beers on tap, but none of the staff ever knows what they are. All the food is fried (or it at least seems that way). And the facility is mediocre - even the TVs are substandard for a sports bar. And it takes a gazillion years to get a drink, even when the place is empty. It's almost like there is a black hole that sucks the waitresses in after they take your order -- they disappear for over 10 minutes!

Frank's Press Box East has the fine & noble distinction of being first bar off the interstate. Beyond that, there's not a whole lot to recommend it over other local pubs a little closer to Grand River. Or even over the Applebee's next door. The service is just consistently awful. The servers have a tendency to evaporate. They're actually a nice enough bunch, but you can't find one again after your first drink order. This makes getting food difficult sometimes. In a mixed group, it's not unusual for the server to check in with the heaviest drinker to see if they need to be topped off, and melt into the shadows before anyone else can ask for a refill. It's taken over a half hour to cash out more than once. If you can get past the service: the food is passably bland and the menu is boring, although it does have a lot of options. Prices are decent, specials are good and there's a nice draught selection. There's plenty of pool tables, and TVs in every direction, and usually at least one of the bathroom stalls latches.

Three of us walked into the restaurant to find an large, open area loaded with TVs to watch sports. There were four large screen televisions in a row, all with baseball games on so it felt really good to be there. The tables, chairs and the bar were old, dark wood, which made me think they should upgrade. We were instantly greeted by a server who brought us drinks very quickly. We got lots of attention through our entire visit. We all ordered variations of salads, taco salad, buffalo chicken salad, etc. They were delivered very quickly in large bowls. The food was good, and a good value considering the large size of the salads. The drinks were reasonable too. This was a solid sports bar experience.

Honestly, some of the worst service I've ever had, multiple times. It's never been a pretty situation. The waitresses are slow moving and confused. They seem really bored. Basically, expect to see your waitress twice during a three hour stay. Sure, this place does get packed (I think mostly with locals getting out of work) but not enough so to excuse the poor service. Frank's savior is it's solid location and pool tables. The liquor is served consistently strong for a restaurant/sports bar, and they have great shots on special most of the time. The food is very decent, too... I recommend their loaded nachos or sliders. Frank's is kind of that place you go to right after work to have one drink before you get on with your crud life. Probably a lot of alcoholics here... nothing to rave about.

I'm a big fan of Franks. I just really appreciate decent food, in large portions, for cheap. Seriously, it's hard to find these days! Franks however, pulls it off. The salads have to be my favorite here. Everything comes out quick and water refills are often. TVs are visible from almost any seat in the bar. There's also a pool table. Great sports bar that doesn't skimp on their food.

Oh Frank's, how I want to love you. I'm upgrading to three stars as my last couple experiences were better than my initial review. The service is hit or miss, especially if they are busy but the amount of Photo Hunt machines they have makes up for it. At least they give you something to do while you're hunting down a server!

This is your typical sports bar. Yawn. Fairly big menu. The bar foods are good (nachos, for example are done well). Don't get adventurous and order any seafood, your experience will be on par with Long John Silvers. If you are just here to drink beer, watch sports and eat fried bar foods you will be very happ here. Just don't expect it to give ya more.

I visited Frank's Press Box East for the first time recently, and I enjoyed it. My smoked turkey sandwich on a pretzel bun was very good. I was a little worried about the Gouda cheese as that's not my favorite, but it worked out well on the sandwich. All my friends seemed to enjoy their meals as well, although I don't remember what they had. I think we were there on a bit of a downtime, so I can't say much about the crowd. It was pretty empty and they had plenty of seating, so I'd imagine it gets busier at busier hours. Plenty of televisions to watch your favorite sports. It's a bit off the road, and we wouldn't have noticed it being there without having been in the Applebee's parking lot.

Nothing special. It's a sports bar with food. I had smelt & fries, which is rarely on a menu, so that was nice. But otherwise, it was just okay. We did not try the pizza, so we might get that next time. They had a half off special -- that would be a good deal. We just weren't in the mood for pizza.

Meals are always good, prices good, and friendly staff. Their specials really are great. Best nachos and pizzas here. Also love the free popcorn.
