This place was disappointing. I've been here a couple years ago when the food was decent. I thought maybe since they were re-opening, that the food would be better. I ordered the Broccoli Beef and General Tso. First off, egg rolls are not included in the combination meal. Second, the chicken fried rice it came with was very bland. There were big chunks of chicken and not enough flavor. The Broccoli Beef I ordered was blah; very forgettable. When I think of Broccoli Beef or Beef Broccoli, I assumed it was just those two in the dish. When I opened my carryout box, there were chunks of different vegetables. Hardly any beef or broccoli. I will say that their vegetables were fresh and crunchy. The General Tso was okay. It wasn't as tangy as I'm used to but the size and cuts of the chicken were perfect. Overall, I don't think I'd ever come back here. The prices for the meal's are not worth it. We barely finished ours. If you live in the Berkley/Oak Park area, I recommend Wings Garden along 9 Mile. Impeccable food with lots of flavor

I've been coming here for two years they always have my order ready in 15 min or less and it's always way better then other places I've gone, I've had Chinese all over michigan and I love theirs more then anyone else's and they are always kind there

Wow. I mean, I don't think I'll necessarily ever come back here because there are better options nearby, but the comments I read on here are WAY too harsh. Maybe it depends what item you order. I got crab rangoon and egg drop soup, and both were extremely mediocre. Both a little on the bland side, but not bad. They give wonton strips to put on your soup, which is important to me (some places don't, or they charge extra for them). If you want Chinese in the area, drive the extra 2 miles to go to Harvest Garden on Woodward. If you need Chinese right at 11 and Coolidge, this will work.

I was running errands and super hungry. I wanted Thai but this place was on my way home. I have not had the best meals here previously and it has been about a year since I last ordered a meal I barely ate. What a waste of $10. How about you take some time and cut up your veggies in pieces I can eat instead of quartering a pepper that I have then cut up when I get home. Kung Bao not! Chicken LOW quality and gristly. I asked for it on the spicy side and they made it so hot I could not eat it. Ummm...I am not in a Thai restaurant. I will never go there again. Empress Garden in Southfield or Peking House in Royal Oak are the way to go. I will drive the extra 10 min next time. Blah.

This was the worst food I have ever had. It was so bad I couldn't even finish more than 3 bites. Worst place ever! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! Absolutely disgusting.

At the risk of redundancy, I'll echo Jason's review. I used to come to this place in its original location, further south on Coolidge, adjacent to the Rite Aid. Back then, the food was decent, if you like Chinese food that tasted as though it had been prepared by non Asians. Now though, it doesn't even rate a "decent". Lots of rice, little meat. Bland white sauces. Egg drop soup that looks like some strange form of lemon jello! If you want low priced Chinese in this area, see my review of China Ruby in Ferndale.

I ordered the General's Tso Chicken. It has more of an orange sauce and not a good one. I tried this place without reading Yelp first. I wish I had. Good thing the lunch menu is low priced. Lots of dark brown fried rice which lacked flavor and tasted undercooked. Little meat and a sauce which doesn't remind me of classic GTC. There is only a 'taste' of the orient in these dishes. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Eek! Methinks not just about sums this one up. Instead of driving to Royal Oak to my proven hangover cure at Peking House, I thought I would cut the trip short and try this place out. Not only is it about a half mile from my house, but it's been around for a while sooo I thought it would be worth a shot. When I picked up my order, about 10 minutes after ordering I was happy to find out that the bag was really heavy, usually meaning a lot of good stuff inside. When I got home, I realized that all the weight was in the massive amount of lumpy rice, drenched in soy sauce to color the rice brown, weighing the order down. There was about 5 gooey pieces of chicken inside (general tao style). . . wtf . . . 5 measly pieces of chicken!? I like to have left overs and in this case after about 3 bites I was done and looking for more. Ok back to the rice. Not only was this fake fried rice, but it was lumpy and sticky and I couldn't eat any of it. Not even a hint of what you would find in typical fried rice. Just a humongous amount of rice covered in soy sauce to trick you. I have never got Chinese food and received so much rice. It overtook the entire container. No wonder the thing weighed like 5 lbs. Now on to the chicken. Disappointment doesn't cover it. I could barely stomach the extremely sweet ooze covered piece of fatty cut chicken that was put into my take out container. If you are going to cut corners just don't do it on the meat! I guess this place would be good for someone in a pinch that was looking for a quick bite or if you like chewy, fatty chicken with enough rice to feed an army. I learned my lesson the hard way by trying this place and if you have any other options on places to go, please for the love of your stomach GO ELSEWHERE.

Tried to give them a chance after a couple of meh meals. Made an order one day and tried to figure out how my bill was so high.... They had doubled the price of something on the menu without stating the change on the menu. When I commented they just said they would state the new prices when they had to order new menus. Huh? Even a line out with a sharpie would have been a better choice.

By far the most unappetizing Chinese food I have ever eaten. I don't know how this place has stayed in business for all of these years with such low caliber food. You would think that the Huntington Woods bourgeoisie would be more finicky about its Chinese cuisine. Its default star: for being the city's only restaurant.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
