We had a great experience at this Max & Erma's. My wife and I both enjoyed the soup and salad combo. We had the tortilla soup and caesar salad. The caesar salad is a bit fishy tasting - the ranch is a better choice in my opinion. The Big Bad Erma was on special on Saturday and it was pretty tasty. I only had one and it didn't have much alcohol in it, but for the price I couldn't complain. The mall was extremely busy as was Max & Erma's, but we didn't have to wait at all - we watched them turning tables very quickly. Nice to see they were keeping things moving and getting people seated quickly. Hopefully we make it down to the Twelve Oaks Mall again soon. If we do, we will be sure to stop here again.

Burgers and fries are OK, I would prefer Red Robin any day over this place. Decent Tortilla soup, a Lil too salty for my taste, but overall I'm glad I got to try this place for the first time. I would not return thou.

My family of five went at an off peak time, around 4:00 pm on a Friday afternoon. We were seated right away and the waitress took our order pretty quickly. There were only about three other tables being served at that time. Why it took over an hour to get our food, I'll never know. Oh, I do have a suspicion as to why it took so long--the cook kept taking off her apron and leaving the kitchen area to talk to her friends at the front entrance. When the food was finally delivered, it was mediocre at best. My son wasn't eating his chicken tenders because they were as dry as a bone. We were never offered refills on our drinks nor did our waitress come by except to drop off the bill. The only redeeming factor was the free cookies for my husband's birthday but even they weren't enough for us to make up for the horrible, or rather lack of, service we received.

I've always enjoyed Max and Erma's but this location desperately needs some work. If you go, be prepared to wait (even for salads). They have terribly slow service, which gives you time to look around and see how the place could really use some cleaning. The stuff all over the walls needs dusting, the glass panels sectioning the restaurant off always have handprints on them, the menus are often dirty, etc. The last couple of times i've been the food was not up to par. Their french onion soup, which i've had many many times, tasted really bizarre. It was as though it was combined with black bean soup (or perhaps just cooked in a dirty pot with residue of another soup in it) because it tasted like some kind of weird hybrid. Not at all how I've grown to know how Max and Erma's french onion soup tastes. On another occasion I got a baked potato with my meal and had to send back because there were 2 visible hairs in it. This Max and Erma's has been here for awhile and they just can't seem to get it together. It's disappointing because in general I enjoy the chain, but this particular one needs a complete overhaul. Too bad. I won't be dining here again.

This is a good place to bring kids, they seem to really like the food here and especially their desserts. I've tried a couple of different things. Their grilled tuscan chicken with asparagus is REALLY good and a healthy option as well. I've tried their fajitas and they are just meh. Their freshly baked cookies are really good!

Visited here right after Christmas with the family and had a great time. We came primarily because my sister never experienced this place, and secondly, because they have unique food on the menu, which I love. The food was very good as well as the service, as usual. We've been coming here for years and the place..

A local favorite of mine! Hadn't been in a year or so, and finally got to come back over the holidays and enjoy lunch with some friends. The service was good and our food was awesome. They had free kids meals that day, which was great for the mom's in our party who had their little ones along. Our waitress was patient with the mess some of the little ones made, and our experience was great. The food is prepared fresh and their prices are more than fair, especially in the Novi area for lunch, we loved it.

Always a good place to bring the kids for a break. It is located inside the mall near JCP.

You can make what they serve at home. The plating is sloppy and distasteful. Don't just throw food in a plate. Serve it with respect for your work and the guest. The only thing semi good about this location is the drinks. Even then it's a hit or miss. I'll pass on this locatin. You should too.

Service was fine! Kitchen is slow and inexperienced. Fries are always cold and old. Bar drinks are a joke!! Seven dollars for mostly sour mix. Personally, I would rather just go to Wendy's or Taco Bell. The grade of food is the same. I guess that is why there is a wait at Cheesecake Factory and you can just slide into Max And Erma's.

My 200th review! Max & Erma's offers free wifi at what seems like the forgotten end of the mall. With lines at the Cheesecake Factory being at least an hour, I'm surprised the overflow isn't moving more quickly to here. The service isn't necessarily the best but it is better than adequate. My steak I ordered wasn't hot but warm, though it was still delicious and I had no problem gobbling it up before it got "cold". They offer outdoor seating when the weather is nicer, but the view is of the parking lot of a mall, so it's nothing too spectacular.

Soup out of a can, disgusting heaps of greasy, cheap, hamburger meat, weird off flavors , overseasoned, oversweetened sauces, flavorless vegetables- people must come here for the booze, right? Unless you grew up raised on fast food I can't understand why you'd want to eat here .

Typical chain, but great service at the bar! I had the strawberry chicken salad with poppy dressing and candied walnuts. That and a strawberry lemonade and it was about $13 before tip.

Service was terrible, waitress rushed us to order the minute we sat down. Then she screwed up the order and took forever to be flagged down. Dropped entrees off without silverware our condiments for my French fries, and took off before I could get a refill on my drink. Flagged her down again and she got what we needed, and dropped the bill on the table before we were half way through eating. Obviously we were taking up her precious time sitting there. Paid the bill and she brought back the card without carry out boxes. Finally had to find the manager who seemed unconcerned about our situation. Won't be returning here.

Love this place!! =) Have had a few mishaps in the past but the management has more than made up for it! Have always LOVED the food and with their rewards program it makes it that much better to go in and grab a bite to eat!

Soup was ok, chicken pot pie had frozen chicken in it. Nasty!!!! I am sending it back. Very disappointed, the one in Plymouth near home is better

One star because I can't give none. My friend and I were sat and no one came to our table. After sitting there for a very long time and just casually looking around at the empty restaurant, we just got up and left. There were maybe 5 tables in the whole restaurant and we did not see a single server the whole time we were sitting there.

Went here again for the third or fourth time. Seriously was another consistent and awesome experience. Out waitress Rachel was wonderful and fun. The food was amazingly good and everything was just fantastic. Brought in our two little girls and they got a free Sundae. It was lots of fun for a valentines shopping day dinner. Will always come back here again and again

Went here for lunch on 08-12-2013. The restaurant was slow with approximately 15-20 people in the place. I ordered the chicken salad on Ciabatta bread. Nothing fancy, just a sandwich and drink. After waiting 15 minutes I received my drink. I then had to wait another 30 minutes for my sandwich. This location was clearly understaffed. The poor waitress was running around trying to wait on several tables and just couldn't keep up. The food was decent but with such poor service I can not reccomend this place.

The food came 30 seconds after the soup came and the Reuben was soggy the frys were cold

Max & Erma's is wonderful. We've been to this location twice and both times our food was great and our service was wonderful. We always get the pretzel sticks with the queso which is so so so good. :) Their tortilla soup is a must have with crispy tortilla chips on top. It helps me to feel like I'm back home in Ohio when I visit here. Especially when I leave full of their chocolate chip cookies, which you have to order as soon as you sit down. :) Can't go wrong with Max & Erm's. Find something you enjoy and stick with it. :)

My son and I ordered the exact same item. Except when the bill came, my item was nearly $2 more. The difference was when our server asked us if we wanted french fries or onion rings. My son ordered FF, I ordered OR. What all servers should state is if the Company chooses to charge extra for lettuce, tomato, onion rings, etc., then the server has an obligation to state there is an additional charge. This policy of not telling the customer is misleading and deceitful. I don't mind paying when I am given the choice; but it is my choice to pay extra, not Max & Erma's to blindside the customer.

At Max and Ermas, like many other corporate chain entities, what you see is what you get. There are no hidden surprises, and it basically is comparable to any similar establishment (i.e. Applebees, Chilis, etc.). Don't go here expecting some unique menu featuring local culinary works of art. After a long morning at the mall, my sister and I decided to come here for lunch. It was pretty busy even at our 2 p.m. arrival time, but we were promptly seated. We split a 10 oz Garbageburger, an order of the chicken pot pie, and got the BBQ chicken quesadillas as an appetizer. Food came out pretty fast, and it was a lot of food; we ended up taking a small doggie bag home. The garbageburger is great, especially with so many diverse and mouthwatering toppings, but it'll give you a heart-attack sooner or later and at the very least make you feel kinda gross after eating it, so it is the perfect kind of burger to split with someone else! Meanwhile, the chicken pot pie left something to be desired. I wanted a full crust, but instead the pot pie ingredients were put into a deep dish and a puff pastry was positioned on top. The quesadillas were tasty, but overpriced for the portion size, I felt. There's probably not much that makes this M&E stand out from other M&Es across the country. Other notes: -The lighting in this place is rough. -The service - or perhaps our specific waitstaff member - was on point! She even said that she would have had the kitchen split our food if we'd told her that we were splitting when we ordered. -Looked like there were some decent happy hour/lunchtime specials for drinks.

Went here for lunch with my mom when we were shopping and she declared it was "Beer O Clock." I was feeling pretty rough from my previous night drinking too much red wine, so I ordered a half-sandwich and salad combo. The club sandwich was not good, the bread was barely toasted so I mostly felt like I was eating 3 pieces of wonder bread rather than a delicious layered deli delight. The Caesar salad was also mediocre, with crumbly Parmesan cheese and a funky tasting dressing (maybe it was little too anchovy-y? Not sure). My mom enjoyed her nachos and Miller Lite, though asked for extra salsa twice and didn't receive it. The service was lacking but our lunch was quick, if nothing else.
