stopped by today as a friend told me Wednesdays they have Lunch Pizza slices for 99cents each. I'd always wanted to try it so for lunch I purchased 4 slices - 2 for my wife and 2 for me. they are simple greasy and delicious. the bread is soft and baked to a golden gooey perfection with cheese. the sauce is spicy, almost the consistency of tomato paste. there's many layers of seasoning there. then the pepperoni's are large thick discs of spicy processed grease. Hell but its good stuff. I could tell it was good stuff when smell permeated the car as I drove over to my wife's job so she could have a tasty lunch. $4.20 for cheap basic lunch was excellent. I will have to try a regular pizza from them one day.

Ok people you all need to come in here and get yourselves some fresh cannoli! The ones dipped in nuts are so delicious. I've tried a couple other treats from them but the cannoli are the best. Buy 10 of them and have yourself a great night

I actually would like to give this place 1/2 a star, if that was possible. Honestly, I don't know how this place can even call itself a bakery. I got their "freshly made" cannoli, Tiramisu, homemade cookies and macaroons. The cannoli was just BLEGH, the Tiramisu dry, and the cookies and macaroons not worth the calories. For such a crappy taste, you'd think they'd offer cheaper prices to attract customers?! Seriously, don't even bother to stop by this place!!!

Not a fan! They do have some good things there and we like there bake goods. This place is really expensive, the sandwiches are between $7 to 10 and they are simply deli sandwiches that are nothing special. They could be so much better, they should dress the sandwich better and they should make in house dressing. If your paying $10 for a sandwich I don't won't Kraft in a package for my Italian sub. I have lived around Italian bakery's all my life like Alcamo's and Dearborn Italian Bakery. They are significantly less in price and the products they serve are defiantly a step above. Again, this place really does have good bake goods and they do take pride in what they do but I'm just not fan.

After reading the diatribe from Chris P that really only showed us how entitled this little chap is, i feel it is important to point out that potato salad is potato salad. its ingredients are bland. a quality establishment will limit their salt content to allow for preference. the majority of the soups are phenomenal (italian wedding, tuscan bean and sausage, chicken tortilla, chicken tortollini). the sandwhiches are hard to beat. all the breads are made fresh in house. the onion rolls are second to none. the ciabatta is excellent. the italian bread is above average. The homemade sweets are excellent as well. the cakes/cookies/pastries are always tasty. watch out for the caramel apple walnut danish/pastry! their ordering system is very old world (as is the pricing and portions, phenomenal!). when you come in, make note of who is ahead of you and wait your turn like a human, chris. employee turnover is always high in entry level service jobs. this place will listen to and accommodate just about any request. give this MARKET a try and you will be glad you did.

I bought a chocolate cake from here two weeks ago. The cake was moist and delicious, and the vanilla frosting was perfect- not too sweet. Ordering the cake was a breeze, as was pick-up. Need a cake/dessert? Maria's your gal!

Maria's has been around for at least 30 years. And it's wonderful. Top notch cannoli are the first reason you should visit. The 2nd reason is delicious pizza bread. The third reason is their chicken salad (yum!). There are so many other reasons that even if these three didn't pique your interest, you'll want to visit if you live, work, or visit anywhere in the area.

Went for lunch, got an Italian sub - the fresh bread made it good. Quality of the meat was so so. Lot of fat in the ham. Cannolis were excellent, chocolate chop macadamia cookie not so impressive. Was dried out and tasted like it had been sitting for a while. Same with Peanut butter cookie.

Definitely a great bakery and deli...we found this place accidentally and have been going there ever since. My favorites are the baked goods and deli meats. Excellent selection and assortments of items. Good quality and good value - you won't be disappointed.....

The subs and sandwiches are the only "meh" items on the menu but I have only tried a few. Others may be much better. Awesome pizza, awesome pizza bread, exceptionally good cookies, and a really cool selection of random items. It's good for going in and getting something for lunch or dinner on the fly, or planning a meal ahead. Fast and friendly service. Make sure if you are ordering cookie trays for any holidays you call days ahead. They are closed on Sunday which is a huge bummer :-/ I continue to go back often after my initial visit. I recommend it highly!

Maria and her staff are always friendly and speedy with orders! (Yes, I did say Maria herself is serving customers and taking orders!) I have tried almost everything on the menu the last two years and I haven't ever had a bad bite or experience yet! We even do large lunch orders for an office and there's never been a mistake- that goes to say a lot about her and her business!

Yummy treats & I do love Boar's head lunch meat ..... But.....Not a fan of the pre-made sandwiches... The ham in the Stromboli was so thick it was.. Let's nicely say... (ickeyish!!!) hardly any pepperoni, & the green pepper was no place in be found in the rolls.. Go for the sweets & skip the meat emt's

I worked at O'Brien Sullivan Funeral Home for some time, and we went around the corner to Maria's for lunch EVERY SINGLE DAY. And I never got sick of it. Need I say more? She has catered numerous family events and is one of the nicest people I've met. Keep up the good work!

Great prices on cut meat, especially prociutto. A really nice selection of just about everything "deli". If you are looking for a locally owned, neighborhood Italian deli -- this is it.Maria remembers her customers as well. Very sincere.

I have lived in Novi, MI for 8 years and just discovered this gem. Wonderful sandwiches and traditional Italian food. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. I recommend the meatball calzones. I'm salivating as I write this review.

The filling in their cannolis are the tastiest I've ever had. However they prepare their simple but messy bacon breakfast wrap should be secretly guarded because it is a roll of greasy goodness. If this Italian bakery upgraded their coffee to Lavazza (or some arabica Italian roast), instead of the mediocre coffee they serve, this would be a 5-star review. The coffee they use now is cheap (both in taste and price - $1.05/cup), so I think folks would pay a buck more for good coffee to go along with their incredible homemade treats!

This is my go to place when I want an italian sub for lunch, so I go here maybe every couple months. Good sub, everything else looks real tasty but I stick with the italian sub. Always seems like there are regulars who that staff know by name there, so must not be too shabby for the other items.

Wow where do you start with Maria's. This place is just great it 's like a good friend, always there for you. I love all their food spinach pie, sub's, pizza I could go on and on. I must say their sandwiches are top shelf. They have a great deli counter with hard to find meats. Always had great service from the friendly staff. Maria's get a huge thumbs up in my book.

Holy cannoli! Maria's is top notch! This is one of those places I don't think I would have ever heard of if it weren't for Yelp. Maria's is difficult to find, and impossible to see if you are just driving by. When I first walked in, I wasn't too impressed. There is a lot of stuff crammed into a small shop, but it turns out its some pretty delicious stuff. I went in wanting a sandwich for lunch and came out with a "U-Bake" pizza and two cannolis, that were quite honestly the best I have ever had. The employees were quick and polite, and the food was outstanding. I will definitely visit Maria's again in the future when I need to a quick dinner or my sweet tooth starts acting up (which is often). Thanks, yelpers, for making me discover a new instant favorite!

I knew there HAD to be a place to get a good sandwich in Novi that wasn't chain, I knew it! After almost 3 years of the same lunches out here...I needed a change and THANK YOU yelp-you led me to it. I KNEW there had to be a deli( Italian, Jewish whatever-just not more Jimmy Johns, Subway, and potbelly!) here! Maria's is a bakery/deli/wine shop, I have been to the complex it's in but of course been to the crappy Subway next to it, but never here....you just know when you walk in EVERYTHING will be good-and basically I do not need this temptation this close to work...I have been here once but... My roast beef/turkey combo sandwich with lettuce and coleslaw on homemade wheat bread was nothing short of amazing-EXCELLENT quality of meat and they are generous with it! There are a ton of sandwiches to chose from and they are super cool about creating your own. Everything is homemade, as all good foodies can tell from the looks of it....pasta salads, stromboli, pizza, everything looked unreal. As I currently eat the best choc. chunk cookie I have ever had-I wonder how many days I should not eat to make up for this, but I don't care...when they say choc. chunk they mean CHUNK...so soft and delicious. They also fill canoli's to order-I will be back to try one...also serve pies and tiramisu by the slice. As far as the 'traditional Italian' cookies not being great, as another yelper mentioned...I can't say, but I will probably never get them and try some of the other cookies I know are made in house. Negatives: NO where to sit inside, which totally sucked because I really wanted some of that homemade soup-which we all know does not travel well...I didn't see the option for individual side items, I would have loved to try the potato salad but I certainly don't need a 1/4 pound of it at lunch...which is why I got the coleslaw on my sandwich! It's small and narrow and I can see it being a total clusterf*ck at a busy lunch hour. Everything else thou, I have to say excellent and a big variety of drink options-including Snapple DIET green tea...why do places not carry diet green tea often? Seriously. They need to expand this place and add some tables for sure...I will be back and cannot wait to try more baked good goodness.

CUTE, BUT... (2 1/2 STARS) I finally got to visit Maria's after reading the 5-star review here. Being of Italian-American descent and also coming from neighborhoods where Italian bakeries are a dime a dozen, Maria's fell a bit off the scale for me. Certainly it's quaint, and I might go there again for some specific things (specialty foods, etc.) , but compared with what I had growing up in Rhode Island, it does not hold water. (Scallio Bros. on the Hill, oh how I miss you!) GO FOR THE DELI MEATS Now, if you're in Novi and want to stop by, don't be discouraged, she has some nice offerings and a good price on prosciutto if you need some deli meats. I no longer eat pork products, but I still know a good price per lb. on prosciutto when I see it. It's a cute little deli in a strip mall and she does have a large selection of cookies that are made with non-sugar sweetener, so the diabetic might have a chance to sample some of her cookies. I did not try the hand-piped cannoli's, but I might take a trip back just to try those out since I haven't had any good cannoli's in Michigan. They are hard to find period, as is Italian food in Ann Arbor (save for Argeiro's, of course). The Stromboli in the case looked good, so that might certainly be worth a try since she makes it herself. COOKIES LACKLUSTER I did try the Italian cookies, but knew immediately by sight that I had had better. I gave them a whirl and tasted them. Not so much chocolaty as fudgy/waxy tasting. It seems that she might have these sent in from somewhere that mass produces boxes for her, so after seeing and tasting them, I'd say these are by far not the greatest cookies I ever had, nor are they good Italian cookies. She has pizzeles in the case too, but I make better at home myself, so for the price, I'd skip those. Some of the pastries caught my eye, like the HUGE cupcakes, but I did not partake, so I cannot vouch for the taste. Might be worth a second visit for that too. PIZZA PIES It seems that while I was in there about 5 people came and went with her carry away pizzas that are prepared for you to take home and bake yourself, or Maria's will bake them for you. Pizzas and the deli seem to rule her clientele's interest, at least for the short time that I was there. OVERALL I'd say go for the deli meats if you're in the area, try some of the pastries, skip the cookies and check out the pizzas that seem to be super popular with her regular crowd.

This place is phenomenal. They are small and non-descript, but they are good at what they specialize in (isn't that how it usually is?). They are located in the same strip mall complex as the grocery store on the NW corner of this intersection. They have good baked goods (cannolis particularly), and make a mean sandwich. They also do catering although I can not attest to the quality of that. Based on what we've eaten here, it's fair to say they are 3-4 stars.

Maria's features a full-line deli, and many fresh-based bakery items. Her pre-made sandwiches are large and delicious, as are her ready-to-eat food items found in the deli case (italian delights and others, such as stuffed cabbage). She has a large selection of Italian cookies and fresh muffins. Pizza can be ordered to be baked at home, or ready to eat. I have been here more than a dozen times and had only one bad experience. I asked for a loaf of bread, and it was pulled from a shelf near a window where some gnats were lurking. I mentioned this to the very young clerk, who was oblivious to my concern. Young teens are employed here and that's great, but they need a tad more training? I say this is a good place, and hope to come back.

I am so glad I found this place, it is an absolute gem! I usually stop in here on pay days because I go to the credit union next door, so I like to treat myself. They have a lot of homemade cookies, cupcakes, cheesecakes, anything on hand, as well as a grocery section and a large deli section with a lot of prepared foods- lasagna, slices of stromboli, mostiaccoli, etc. I personally have had: Sugar Cookie- 8 out of 10, very sweet but always nicely decorated. Cannoli- Filled to order so they are always crispy and nice, 10 out of 10. Pizza Bread- 9 out of 10, very good and a very filling meal. Chicken Chili- 7 out of 10, pretty average but overall good and I'd eat it again. Turkey Meatloaf- 9 out of 10, surprisingly good for an item that can easily be bland, this one had just the right amount of salt and flavor. Brownie- 10 out of 10, they are always so good! Mostiaccioli, very good, 10 out of 10, delicious sauce. Very friendly service. I can't wait to try the pizza and more of the prepared food items!!

I had to write an update to my previous post. I forgot to mention that Maria's has fabulous Cannoli's, but you wont find them in the display case. Just ask and they will hand pipe the filling in for you while you wait. There are two sizes and the small ones are perfect for a little treat.

A great family owned deli with a wonderful assortment of food. If you want to grab a bite for lunch you can get their fresh soup of the day. They also have sandwiches, cookies, breads and cakes. Other tasty lunch items include sausage and peppers, lasagna, quesadillas, spinach pies... Lots of delicious items with a great variety. Maria is always working hard behind the counter ready to serve up her home style deli goods.
