I've never seen fresher bean sprouts. Yes, you heard me. Of all the tasty things placed on a plate in my lifetime, including sprouts at other places, and I proudly state that I am truly impressed by the freshness of the sprouts (and carrot chips in the soup) at this place. Ok, so that's not the only reason I give New Bangkok 4 stars, read on... I met 5 coworkers here on a Wednesday afternoon. (It's part of a "Lunch Around the World" club where we try a different cuisine/restaurant each month.) I called ahead at 11 a.m. and they had the table set up for us (menus, silverware, pitchers of ice water) by 11:45 a.m. Score! They were quick to serve a hot, fresh soup to everyone even before we ordered our lunch. Everyone ordered something different and walked away happy. I ordered drunken noodles with chicken (medium spice) as a point of comparison with other restaurants. I tried to probe the waitress for other suggestions but she seemed to want to take our orders and get it over with. I received plenty of food for the money and was pleasantly surprised at the quantity of veggie and meat to noodle ratio. The quantity of food including soup resulted in a take out box. The place was clean and the atmosphere was good for chatting it up with table-mates. The waitstaff was attentive enough without being absent nor overwhelming. The only reason why I didn't give this place 5 stars is that the waitress "phoned it in" and seemed to lack interest. She was quite matter-of-fact without table-side manner. That's unfortunate since so many of us are your garden variety "Pad Thai" or "Drunken Noodles" folks who may have learned something about Thai cuisine or expanded the horizons of our taste buds if she had just showed an interest. The place wasn't overly busy, so it truly seemed like her personality vs. being overwhelmed. Overall, still a solid 4 stars in my book. It's worth a try!

First time here tonight and had a great experience. Fast courteous service and great food! I had the vegetarian pad cashew and ordered "medium" spice and it was perfect! Very tasty and just the right spice level( got my sinus' draining) Sandi had jub chai? Sp? And she loved it. Definitely will be back. Nice atmosphere also

Love the spicy peanut curry chicken. Great heat and flavor. I've only ever ordered take out so I can't speak to the service inside but our order is always ready on time and piping hot.

CHEAP. Everything about the food is cheap. The lowest grade frozen shrimp and scallops, fake KRAB as filler, frozen green beans... all from Costo probably. By the way, I arrived and the guy in front of me wanted take out. After 5 minutes waiting without acknowledging she handed me a menu and said to sit anywhere! It's impossible to find a good Thai place here. I wanted to find one but instead I got CHEAP.

I ordered the Chicken Satay and the Chicken Panang. They served me cabbage soup first and that was great. The chicken satay's chicken was cooked perfectly. The peanut sauce tasted like it was cooked in a dirty burnt pan or like it burned on the bottom of the pot. It tasted like they cooked all the flavor out of it. My Panang had the same burnt flavor. I couldn't even eat it. When I sent it back I was asked on more than once if it was to hot. No it was not as a matter of fact I would have liked it spicier. I didn't taste any coconut at all. I probably will not go back to this place. I was the only diner in the restaurant that should have been my first clue. The waitresses sat in a both eating and listening to annoying music on their cell phone. When I asked them to turn it down I was ignored. Yep I won't go back.

I stay in Commerce so it's a bit of a hike for us to get here but we still do every chance we get because of the food. I love thai food with its curries and spices and this restaurant does justice to my Thai food cravings. I usually have the Pad Thai or sometimes opt for the curry dishes. The spices are spot on and the food is always fresh. The interiors are quite pleasant and the servers are friendly. In all, a good place for dinner.

Strictly for food this place is 5 out of 5 stars.. but they never have any servers so the service is terribly slow that's what knocks a star off.

I love this place. Their chicken pad thai and their pad pak (#10) is the best! I've eaten at a lot of Thai places, and can confidently say this place is great. The waitstaff is friendly, and you always get a small appetizer (a soup or salad) with your entrée when you eat in. They have good a variety of dishes to choose from which is also great.

I absolutely love Thai food and I vote for New Bangkok as my favorite. For starters, the soup is hit or miss. the hot and sour is OK, i do not like the chicken noodle, and the Cabbage soup is phenomenal. The cabbage soup is available on Tuesday and Thursday. Also, it can come quite hot at times, so it's best to order a level below what you want and just add crushed red pepper if you want to make it hotter. Many Thai places don't have pepper flakes at the table but there are always present here. So, let me break down the food choices into categories: Curries: strongest. I highly recommend trying the green curry (no4) sauce. In order to get the largest assortment of vegetables, I simply order the no 20 (which is the standard red curry coconut sauce every veggie you can imagine) and just sub the green curry sauce. They accommodate this request every time. This dish is simply unbelievable, it just melts in your mouth. We try to go once a week and I order this every time, it is just that good. Also, the standard curries are all excellent too. Noodles: excellent. Their pad thai is 'killer', and the curry noodle is amazing. The drunken noodles are good too if you prefer the brown sauce. Rice: I don't typically order fried rice but coworkers tell me that the sweet chili fried rice is excellent. Specials: i had a coworker try the sesame chicken and we all fell in love with that too. Now, like with many ethnic restaurants, they are not always staffed up enough. We usually have to wait a while to get to-go boxes and the check, so plan accordingly for that. The food makes up for any lapses in service though!

This is by far my favorite Thai restaurant. And I know Thai food. Their Pad Thai Curry (N6) is to die for. Best in town, can't be beat. They used to be Taste of Bangkok Cuisine in Novi (Grand River @ Novi Rd - see yelp.com/biz/taste-of-ba… ) but moved to Northville a few years ago. We used to get our lunch takeout from the Novi location for our weekly Thai run at work. After they moved, we still drive all the way to Northville for takeout Thai, even though there are other places that are much closer. They are THAT good!!! Lunch comes with soup - hot & sour, or cabbage soup depending on the day of week. The first one is better. Dinner comes with a simple side salad that is yummy! The peanut sauce dressing they add to the salad is sooooo good I could drink it! All their coconut based curries are nice and zesty. Btw, be careful while choosing spice levels - hot really means HOT here. I have been here for both lunch and dinner many, many times. The place is usually packed during lunch hour (12 - 12:30) so either come early or late. Pretty quiet in the evenings, so it's good for a nice quiet dinner date. Pad Pak (veg), Peanut, and Potato curries are all good. Their fried rice also tickles the palate (FR1, 4 or 5). Try this place if you haven't already, and if nothing else have the N6 (Pad Thai Curry, not Pad Thai) - you won't regret it :) P.S. Forgot to add that they are closed on Sundays. Been burned a couple times on that :(

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The food was OK... there was a lot of it... but, meh. The service was terrible. I cannot stress enough how terrible the service was. There are lots of restaurants in the area... reward a business that cares about making customers experience out a good one!

I went there last night with my boyfriend to celebrate Valentine's Day and our one year anniversary. I absolutely loved my meal (Shrimp Pad Ped). I had never tried this dish before and wanted to try something other than Pad Thai. I was a little nervous, but oh my gosh, it was soooo good. I ordered my dish Medium spiced and it was a little hotter than I expected but not overly hot. I am half-Mexican so I do like spice. Might order it mild to medium next time. I also ordered a spring roll as an appetizer and it was very delicious. The dinner salad was very good, too. My boyfriend order one of the fried rice options. He has been there many times and is a picky eater (he would argue that.). Overall, we will definitely be going back to NBC for more meals. The atmosphere is nice, easy parking, great food. This was one of our best dinners together.

Good food love the orange chicken.

My wife and I have been here twice for lunch and once for dinner. We loved our main dishes each time, the soup was wonderful and service was a little above good. Overall we suggest you try it!!

One of my personal favorite restaurants. Not for service but for the food. This is the BEST Thai food i have had. The Satay is delish, and we have yet to try a entree we didn't like. Prices may be a bit high, but the portions are huge. We usually split an app and dinner. Like others have said not always the best service, sometimes it just depends on the night. Also they changed their lighting - it has brightened things up - some people may like this but we think it kinda messes with the atmosphere of the restaurant.

We ordered a vegetarian/vegan fried rice to go. Late night while eating we found a chicken piece in it. When we complained to restaurant we were told that lot of people file such complaints fraudulently to get money back. Lady from restaurant refused to acknowledge such a serious mistake of the cook. What if it were a nut for a person with nut allergy. We did not want money back but a "sorry for mistake". This is a rude behavior to customers. I will never go to this place again. There are better places for Thai food in Northville for Thai like Mr. Thai or Thai Basil in Livonia.

Yum! Everything I've ever ordered at New Bangkok has been simply delicious, and if you're going for lunch you can get out for under $10.00.

Average Pod Thai. There is nothing wrong with it, but it didn't suit my tastes. The service was atrocious. Awful. Terrible. I cannot stress how awful the service is. Maybe if I used italics. Where are the italics? Ok, no italics, so take my word for it. My group of four was one of 3 occupied tables in the entire restaurant at 7:30 ona friday night. The server was kind enough to bring us water and explain that "water good enough for now." That was pretty cool. It was apparently good enough forever because the server never asked for our drink orders. Moments later we were asked to order which worked out because we were just there for the tofu pad thai. We made 4 identical orders. 4 salads were immediately brought out. The salad consisted of 2 slices of cucumber and some lettuce in a sweet dressing. It tasted ok, but literally 3 minutes after bringing the salads, the server brought our pad thai. This is a pet peeve of mine. When I am paying 12 dollars for a bowl of noodles, I would at least like to be able to take my time and enjoy my meal. The pad thai was obviously not made freshly and no attempt was made to mask this fact. I was also super thrilled that 3 meals were brought out and one was left in the kitchen. I then watched the server proceed to fill another tables drinks before bringing our fourth meal. Ten minutes into our gargantuan plate of mediocre noodles (eaten with a fork because chop sticks were never presented as an option) or server asked if we would like to go boxes. My girlfriend had a fork in her mouth when the question was asked. Now I have worked as a server and I can understand the rush if the place is busy or close to closing, but this wasn't this case. This was just impolite. Then things got dicey. We apparently offended our server by refusing the boxes and a few minutes later a second server asked if we wanted to go boxes, so we took them. Our original server then brought our check with 3 fortune cookies (grrr.....) and walk away. I chased her to her hidey hole to ask her to split the bill. She informed me that we could just giver her two cards (which was super nice of her). She then ran the cards, dropped that cards in front of me and rudely explained that we could separate our own cards because we knew them. Then I got sarcastic. It was pretty great. So, the take out may be to your taste, but I would not recommend eating in unless you are comfortable feeling like an inlaw occupying the guest room for one too many days.

Our family just ordered our first carry-out from New Bangkok. It was good, not great. The Pad Thai was better than the chicken dish we ordered. In fact, my husband LOVED the Pad Thai. However, my chicken had a few pieces of grizzle and I found a few stray pieces of Tofu that snuck their way in. I kept comparing the sauce to Little Bangkok in Plymouth and was disappointed that it did not match up. I would rather drive to Plymouth to get my fix.

Recently, we visited New Bangkok and we had a horrendous experience. We purposely called to make sure they would be open late and we were told what time they would be closed. So, when we showed up 20 minutes before that time, we were very upset to hear we could not eat there but, we would have to do carry out. I regret I made a bit of a scene but, we all know how hard it is to find good food in Northville late at night. Finally, after much to do, we were seated and told the staff needed to leave early for some event. That is all fine but, it should have been mentioned when we called. Regrettably, New Bangkok has fallen off our list of Thai choices. Between Mr. Thai, Thai Fresh and Little Bangkok in Plymouth - We have too many choices to put up with rude people. And, I plan to make sure others know about it! We are Northville residents and we eat out a lot. New Bangkok - this happened about one month ago. And we will not be there again!

My wife and I love thai food and this is by far our favorite thai restaurant in the Plymouth/Northville area. We live in Plymouth which has Little Bangkok and Thai Cafe, and Thai Bistro isn't far away in Canton. But, we've had the best food and service at New Bangkok in downtown Northville, so it's worth the drive for us. There's a lot to like, for starters and most importantly it's the food. We've tried many of their curry dishes, chicken and basil dishes, pad thai and others and it's consistently great. Our favorite item and what keeps us coming back again and again are the fresh rolls - rice paper, chicken, noodles, basil leaves with spicy peanut dipping sauce...they are so good. The staff is very friendly and it's a thai restaurant with a nice interior. I think it was a bank at one time, so there's plenty of room, it's well lit, lot's of windows, very clean, etc. There's parking right out front and it's got a great location, right in downtown Northville. If you like thai, give this place a try - it's our favorite.

Amazing thai food. When I'm living outside of Northville, I crave New Bangkok, and haven't been able to find a place that compares. There's hardly anyone in there most days, but don't let this deter you--it's a big carry-out place.

So so Thai. I would not go out of my way for this place. Had chicken pad Thai 3 out of 5 and hot and sour soup 2 out of 5.
