UPDATE: 22/July/15 Warning, Karene K. The Owner contacted me through E Mail threatening me with her attorney if I did not take down my review of her "Restaurant". Now I want to be clear here, she threatened me! Because of my review! That is enough to prove to you that this place is a place you need to avoid. Any owner that cannot take a truthful review and decides to threaten legal action for "Freedom of Speech" honesty, is not worthy of your dollar. I am a veteran, I fought for the United States and all it stands for, so don't believe I will take a threat against my rights too kindly. Any bashing I may receive for this review is fine, I am an honest person who enjoys eating out with my family. I have lived In Hawaii, so I know what road side food should taste like, everyone isn't a high end business and I understand that. Drinkers seem to enjoy eating here and that is fine. If you truly want to eat at a place that isn't worthy of your money, please go here, drink, and be ignorant of the facts that I have posted. I truly hope you take this threat from an owner into consideration before entering a place that is simply oblivious of the critical fact that people and their opinions of food are number one. Drunks are easy to please. It is the real people that don't need alcohol to eat that count. Original Review: First off, I have no idea how old the grease is that they make the fries in, but they are horrible. The waitress was just mean, her daughter seemed nicer, but our waitress was just miserable. She treated everyone like they were tourists, and it showed when she went into the kitchen with a ticket and made horrible faces and seemed disgusted that she had to serve people. Our son has an eating disorder and is very picky with food, he ordered mashed potatoes and fries... the skins were on the potatoes when they were mashed, no flavoring at all, not even salt and pepper??? Everyone else had grilled cheese and fries... it is Texas Toast with half a slice of cheese melted into the pours of the toast... no flavor other than bread!!! My Shrimp basket was of frozen popcorn shrimp (Horrible)!! The cocktail sauce was watery!! How do you mess up cocktail sauce? Simple... mix ketchup with horseradish!!! NO WATER!!!! Then the bill came... we were over charged of course, no military discount?? Not even on the 4th of July?? So if your a Vet, stay away... they don't like us there and it shows. The food is basically sandwiches, too easy... any one on vacation can make a better one at their hotel room then they do here... no burgers? No dinner type meals?? I guess if it requires you to actually cook, they are lost in their cocktail sauce. I enjoy good food, and I even like a greasy spoon once in awhile... this place is not even good enough to be in the same league as a Greasy Spoon. Stay Away... trust me. It appears that they put all their money into the Bar and the Fireplace, and didn't have enough left over to buy real food. Obviously the Bar wasn't making enough money, so they thought they would poison people for money. Everyone in my family became very ill on the ride home because they poisoned us!! STAY AWAY!!!!! VETS.. Trust a Brother on this one... go across the street... Do not drop a dime in this place... rude, no taste, simple food gone wrong... you need to be drunk to swallow that crap... Oh now I know why there is a bar there!!!! Bingo!!! Take I t from a cultured man, this place is the worst place we ate at while we were up there for a week.

We have been stopping at the Cut River Inn most every time we get a chance to on our travels along US2 for many years, and although the menu items have changed a little through the years I expect good service, great whitefish and reasonable prices. And that is what I got again when we stopped for dinner. The whitefish continues to excel, but that is all of the menu items I can comment on, as that is the ONLY thing I ever get! I will continue to get it, and I recommend it for you, too!

If I had to describe it in one word, awful. This place is expensive and a ripoff. This place was all-you can eat fish fry on Fridays and no longer is. Now refills cost money, too. Most places are free refills but not this one. The service was poor. Water is free if you can get a waitress to bring you one. Heed the advice a I am giving you and don't come here.

Nice little Restaurant with good food and a nice atmosphere. Prices are decent for the location, and good service from the staff.

The whitefish sandwich is awesome! I always try to time my trips through the UP so that I'm nearby for lunch!

Whitefish a fresh as you can get, straight from the boat. If they have Menominee get it it's becoming increasingly rarer to get but it tastes so good. Think whitefish x10. The chowder is a star also. Service is friendly and seems to always be family.

Loved the fried whitefish and I rarely eat fried anything! The steak fries were yummy - no weird coating - just nice hearty fries. Don't miss this place!

Great little restaurant along US 2 looking over Lake Michigan, cozy setting and great service! The White Fish sandwich was great! You also had an amazing view of the water from the restaurant. Overall a wonderful place to grab a bite to eat.

I visit this area often and come here whenever I can. I don't come here expecting fancy. I wouldn't order a martini or expect to get a fine Chardonnay, but their whitefish is outstanding. Always fresh. Really the best I've had. The service has always been consistent and friendly. Admittedly I haven't tried much else on their menu however, if you like whitefish this place is well worth it.

Awesome food & service!! Turkey Club had think slices of bacon & turkey breast. Husband said best coleslaw & it was fresh made. Hot fudge brownie was to die for.

Don't even read the other person's 1 star review, I don't know where that person is coming from. The refills are free, the fish fry is all you can eat, and the service is just fine. I think someone just had a bad day overall and decided to take it out on this place. Ok, first let me give you some context for my 5 STAR review..... this place, Epoufette, is a small, very small, little community along the bluffs of Lake Michigan on US 2. So, if you are expecting a high end restaurant....well.... you're an idiot, but if you are looking for a really good place to eat where you can kick back and enjoy a meal and a drink with friends then you have found the right place. The Nacho's weren't super fancy by any means, in fact they were a little small and uneventful... but the Bacon Burger and the onion rings were top notch. Ask for the Chipotle Mayonnaise on the side instead of BBQ sauce and you won't regret it. The bun was excellent as well. Then we had dessert and I had the Apple Dumpling with Ice Cream, and it was completely irresponsible and delicious. It was worth every bite. The prices were reasonable, the two of us had appetizer, dinner, and two desserts for $40 and we both left more than satisfied and neither one of us are small guys at all. They have a full bar, and they have a TV.... it would be nice if they had a few more TV's but the one they had was at least at the bar, which is where it should be. The place is very clean and very professional, and the proprietor took great care in making sure we were pleased with our meal and great pride in the fact that we were impressed with this little spot. I usually go to the place across the street because of the view, but I don't think that will be nearly as easy to do next time now that I know how good the food is at this place. It is a far better restaurant than the one across the street. I don't know what I love about Epoufette that draws me back here, I mean you can't even really get to the water's edge.... maybe it's just the name. Epoufette means "Place of Rest" and lately I've just been tired and hungry.

We have been coming to the UP for the last few summers to visit friends in Epoufette. We always have dinner at the Cut River Inn at least once while here and are never disappointed. The whitefish is wonderful and the desserts are yummy. The service has always been prompt and courteous. We have always found it to be an enjoyable dining experience. Prices are reasonable and average for the area.

This is a small place off US 2. It isn't fancy, but it has the best whitefish and walleye in Michigan. I come here as often as possible from our place in Indian River. The service is great, the prices and food outstanding. If anyone has had a problem here it says more about them than this little place. It's clean and the staff very nice and friendly. And more important the food is great. Try the soups too , they are great.

I'm not sure how you screw up French fries but they did! My husband's fish was better than my food but not memorable.
