We live in kalamazoo and travel from there just to have another fantastic delicious meal. The choices are all so good it is sometimes hard to venture from our time and taste tested choices

Not the easiest place to find but well worth it. Stopped for lunch based on Yelp reviews. Just had the French Dip and Arnold Palmer but it was excellent. You'd think that couldn't be messed up but it can. Here, it was perfect. Now I don't like my bread toasted and this came soft. The meat was plentiful and warm. The au jus, nice and warm, not too salty. The Palmer was a perfect balance of sweet and tartness.

This restaurant was recommended to us by a local lady. She said it was her favorite place anywhere around. It did not disappoint us. We were there in early October, which most locals would say is not known for the aggregate of weather, but this week was perfect for outside dining. We chose a table outside but by a heater for comfort. The staff kindly moved it closer for us and even offered to bring another over since when the sun went down it did get chilly. The food was excellent. We tried the 'steak and cake' and also the 'lake perch'. Both were very good. The steak was a sirloin but it looked, cut, and tasted like filet. It was cooked perfectly and as ordered. We also ordered the French onion soup which was very good and extremely hot. I would recommend this place highly. I cannot say anything about the inside environment since we only ate outside but that was very nice.

A classic restaurant in Muskegon. It's dark and cozy with great food and some of the best service I've ever experienced. As the other reviews state, you must try the cheese soup. It makes a great starter on a cold winter day!

Today, my wife and I visited The Hearthstone for lunch. We were very impressed. The room is dark, great for a romantic date and to put the spotlight on the wonderful food. The staff is pitch perfect, attentive without hovering, pleasant without being cloying. The menu is full of creative choices for veg and non-veg diners alike. I picked a petite salad with black beans, corn, sweet peppers, thin tortilla strips, mixed greens and a perfectly complimentary red pepper parmesan cheese dressing. I also had a roasted vegetable bisque reminiscent in consistency of Lebanese crushed lentil or split pea soup but warming with a subtle sweetness and savory flavor. Everything at The Hearthstone (food, service and setting) displays obvious care and skill. It has an easy elegance. It is a must-visit destination for gastronomes coming through Muskegon.

My girlfriend and I did not eat at the Hearthstone, but did have their cuisine in a buffet setting at the Frauenthal Theatre, in Muskegon, Michigan, on Saturday, October 4, 2014. Turkey was the main dish, served with a salad, roasted potatoes, pasta in a creamy mushroom sauice, and string beans. The food was excellent, except the salad was too small and the string beans were overdone.

They made my wife happy, and not in a carnal way, which is hard to do. Food was great and service was awesome. It was packed but got sat quite fast. I will be back and I might even bring the wifey.

Had the soup and sandwich lunch special. "soup of the day" which was Cuban black bean with cilantro and lime it was really good. However the sandwich (ham and Swiss) was average at best. I would of given a better star rating if the service would have been better.

Stopped in for a meal again this summer. The food and service were absolutely superb. Started with the creamy, sharp cheddar cheese soup, a favorite since childhood, shared the mussels and the ahi tuna salad, and finished it off with the creme brulee. Everything was flavorful and enjoyable to eat. The creme brulee was a tad over cooked.

My boyfriend and I had a great experience here. We had the pommes frittes with truffle aioli, the beet and goat cheese salad, and two of the pasta dishes. Everything was excellent and the servers were all very nice and helpful. My only issue was that I asked for no mushrooms in my pasta and it came full of mushrooms. I let a server know and was given new food several minutes later and they apologized. It was still unfortunate having to wait longer than my boyfriend to get food I could eat. Everything was delicious though, I will go back!

A restaurant that lives up to the hype. Great food , great service , reasonable prices , what else could you ask for . We ordered there special flatbread pizza with sausage , the flatbread was cooked perfectly with the right amount of crisp, with great flavor. The side salads were big , with the blue cheese wedge being my favorite. I had the homemade corn beef Ruben , the meat was tender and piled high with good flavor, it was piled high like a good deli. Other people ordered the lunch steak and a mozzarella tomato sandwich on chibalta bread served with balsamic dressing , both were very good. The bread was fantastic served with olive oil. I can't wait to eat there again.

So so yummy. We couldn't choose which soup we liked best so we got the trio so we could have all three! We had the butternut squash, cheddar, and chorizo chili. All three were amazing! My cousin got the chicken salad sandwich and I got the porchetta. I can't rave enough about this sandwich. It had pork belly and some kind of crack pesto. The favors were subtle but significant. I feel like it got better with every bite I took. Our server, Ellen, was super attentive and funny and helpful. She really put our experience over the top.

Still a favorite when visiting the family in NM. This time we got to sit in front of the big fire pit in the middle of the restaurant which was quite the treat. The whole fam raved about each of their entrees. I finally got to try their wisconsin cheddar soup topped with popcorn and cheese balls. I know, right? Amazing! My husband and I split a few of their starters and got a small portion of their decadent mac and cheese which also impressed us. Not to mention the little one got bits of pieces of our food which she certainly didn't complain about. If you're in the area, you must try Hearthstone. It is totally worth it.

As just a visitor to Muskegon many times I have to say the Hearthstone is always a must when I come to town. Being from DC we have many great restaurants in our area that we frequent and the Hearthstone is a competitor of them in my mind. The food is always cooked perfect, the sauces always rich in flavor and specials that are amazing. Tonight I had the Guinness braised lamb and a wedge salad. The salad was very good, the blue cheese was very rich and large crumbles. The lamb was cooked perfect and the flavor was full. The owners and chef obviously know what they are doing and have been doing it for awhile. Never had anything bad here it's a must when in Muskegon.

It's often a challenge to find great food in smaller towns, and as a frequent traveler, I listen to suggestions made by clients I work with. Hearthstone pleased me so much last night that I'm back again, a rarity for me. Tonight it's the WI cheddar soup, bruschetta, and for dessert a trio of profiteroles stuffed with pistachio gelato and covered with warm fudgy chocolate: pure decadence! Soup and dessert are to die for!! Bruschetta suffered only from lack of good, fresh tomatoes. It was also somewhat overwhelmed by the vinaigrette, but still pleasant enough. If I'm ever in Muskegon again, I'll be back for sure!
One of our favorite places to eat especially on a special occasion. The food is fantastic and so with the atmosphere. This is our go to special occasion location!

Best Cheddar Soup Ever - see the photo posted in Yelp. We ordered two pasta dishes as they were having a special. They also have local fish - Perch that looked great. Dessert and service were excellent. Well establish restaurant with a lot to offer. Our server even helped us pick out another restaurant for our next night's stay (and also encouraged us to come back for lunch, which we would have had we not run out of time!). Highly recommend!

We visited the Hearthstone with a Muskegon friend who is a regular, who told us this was the best restaurant in the area. We're pretty sure she's right! Because it was a busy prom weekend in town, we missed making reservations in time, but we were determined to experience dining here, and waited for a table in a very small side lounge where we were able to order drinks and starters, including a tasty baked brie with salted caramel. Our patience was rewarded with a table in the main dining room, where we had delicious meals.(The menu and list of daily specials are so extensive that it's truly hard to make a decision. And we were also impressed with the number of dishes using locally sourced ingredients -- something we look for when dining out.) My dinner included a panko-encrusted walleye with crispy Brussels sprout-and-bacon hash; the portion of fish was generous and perfectly cooked, and the hash provided evidence, once again, that really good restaurants pay as much attention to side dishes as to the stars of the menu. I also had a cup of wild mushroom soup; savory, velvety goodness. Our servers were courteous and knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list. We will be back next time we're in town and would recommend the Hearthstone to anyone visiting Muskegon.

I give this place a hesitant four, if only because I'm always wary of rating places I've only been to once, but here goes... Good, friendly, prompt service and quite decent food, particularly for a smaller town-definitely the best I tried in Muskegon. The menu is pretty large and prices are decent leaning towards a bit on the high side. The garlic rolls have great flavor (yeah, we got a second basket), though I wish they were a bit less chewy. Wish I had had a chance to try one of their "famous" soups...maybe next time.

My family was on vacation on the lakeshore in Michigan for a long weekend and went out to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary at the Hearthstone. Went with my wife and two little kids. Sat outside in a really pleasant area next to a fountain. The service was fantastic, great energy and really nice and attentive. The food was fabulous. Started with the goat cheese appetizer that spread on wonderful bread. Then we had a salad, the steak/crab cake and walleye entrees and the kids ordered off the kids menus. My wife and I kept looking at each other with very happy eyes at the quality of the food. Dessert was good as well, with the bread pudding being the best version of it we've ever had. All around a great place, and worth a drive from wherever you're staying in this part of the world.

Did not enjoy our experience here. Wine was overpriced. I got the salmon dinner after being told that the mahi magic special was no longer available on a holiday weekend. It was very small and came with 3 asparagus spears. The couscous was very bland as well. Service was poor and we were sitting next to a fountain that kept splashing water on us through dinner. This was not a good experience at all. I won't be returning.

One of my favorite restaurants in Muskegon. Nice ambience inside or they have a nice patio for outdoor seating when the weather is nice. Favorite things to eat are the signature award winning dishes. The perch dinners on Tuesdays are on special low prices. 2 for one. They are wonderful to eat. The cheese soup on any day is also award winning. I get the soup for lunch often. It is rich and filling. No better cheese soup out there.

The best restaurant in Muskegon, as far as I am concerned. I only go for lunch, though. I start with a soup sampler and go with the "trilogy" (3 cups of soup) if I like them all, and otherwise get a cup of soup and half of a french dip sandwich.

The food, service and decor were all top-notch. I tried the Seared Tuna Salad w/spicy peanut dressing and a fantastic tomato and blood orange bisque. The flavor combination was amazing - sweet and spicy. The soup was outstanding - I had never seen a tomato/citrus soup on a menu anywhere and was excited to try it. It soared.

The food and the service are always reliably top-notch. I brought some LA friends to my hometown for the 4th of July weekend and they were also really impressed. I can't believe I had never tried the cheese soup before - it is amazing!

My girlfriend took me here and it was quite a treat. We started off with Thai Vegetable Spring Rolls, which were tasty and beautifully arranged. I then got one of their specials for the day, which was a wonderfully prepared steak, mushroom macaroni and cheese, and grilled asparagus... all of it very satisfying. We finished it up with a slice of Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie, which was to die for. The service was excellent and our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and attentive to our needs. The interior has a very romantic atmosphere. If I had to say something negative about it, only that they had paper over the tabletops, which ruined the classy feeling a little bit.

I was in Hart Michigan on business and my co-workers and I stayed in Muskegon overnight. I logged into the handy Yelp website to see what Muskegon had to offer. One name that came up with almost all five stars was The Hearthstone. So our destination for the night was made. Driving in the dark, the Hearthstone can be rather difficult to get to. There is a strange fork in the road that got a bit confusing. Once we got there, we found parking at a premium with open spots hard to find. Once we got inside we were attended to immediately. The restaurant itself had subdued lighting with a lot of dark wood. There is a bar up front with plenty of patrons so it would appear to be a good place to stop and have a few. The menu was quite varied and there were a number of dinner specials. Now Hearthstone has made it's reputation from it's soup, salad and sandwich selections and it reflected that on the menu. There was an interesting variety of wines and mixed drinks as well but I was not in the mood for alcohol on this night. I selected the fried perch, french onion soup and lettuce wedge salad with bleu cheese. Some of my co workers had the cuban bean soup and jalapeno cheese soup. One co worker ordered salmon, another steak and the rest a soup and sandwich combo that called for a cup of soup and half of a sandwich. We started with the soup, my french onion soup came with croutons and melted swiss cheese on top. The soup was rich and savory, very satisfying and very good. The cuban bean and jalapeno cheese was also pronounced "very good". The soup was accompanied by a basket of fresh hot "parmesan cheese rolls". These had a garlickly flavor with a strong parmesan cheese accent. The dinner and salad came next. My fried perch dinner consisted of five perch filets. The flesh was firm and moist, the breading was of a crunchy variety and lended well to the fish. There was a sauce that was similar to tartar sauce, but had a spicy note to it. The lettuce wedge was pretty standard but still very good. The sandwiches ordered by some other members of our party were huge and these were just half sandwich portions at that. The sandwiches were well supplied with meats, cheeses and dressing. The people who ordered salmon and steak also said it was delicious. When dessert time came around, we were all pretty satisfied and turned it down. The tab for five people was just a tad above a hundred dollars. A very good value for what was an excellent meal. I would strongly recommend going to this restaurant if you are ever in this area, high quality food, excellent service and great atmosphere.

I had my last and best meal in Muskegon here, after a several-month-stay. (Coming from Chicago, Muskegon isn't exactly fertile with restaurants.) The five stars are for the food because every dish I tasted was cooked to perfection, but the service earned a 5 as well. The server impressed me with his knowledge of the menu and ingredients and was friendly and easygoing without being invasive. The atmosphere is intimate, casually classy. You can pull off several levels of attire. I highly recommend the mussels (appetizer) served in an absolutely delicious butter/white whine sauce.---We were tempted to ask for a sippy cup and take the juice home with us. ;-)--- These may be the best I've had. The salad with sesame crusted tuna (rare) was perfect. I'm a big salad snob and this left nothing wanting. The peanut dressing and wasabe side was a tasty compliment. Rolls=delicious but who cared how they tasted since we just drenched them in the mussle butter/wine sauce. Expansive wine/martini list. I hear great things about the martinis but I stuck to merlot. Such an unexpectedly satisfying way to say goodbye to Muskegon.

I am a believer in Yelp! I took my family here after a day at Michigan's Adventure amusement park. I thought we might be dressed too casual in shorts and tees as the place was nicer than I expected. No worries, we were fine and enjoyed some of the best food we had on our little Michigan vacation. Salads and dressings were gourmet level. 2 perch dinners for 20.00 for the wife and I were way reasonable and off the charts delicious! The quality of food and service here is way above the price. You will not be disappointed. If you are in Muskegon you have to eat here. Have a Bell's Oberon if you like a brewski!

After reading other reviews, I was excited to try this for an anniversary dinner. The outdoor patio was nice, but despite two servers and few other customers the service was poor. We didn't get bread, and waited nearly 20 minutes for soup/salad. The cheese soup was ok but nothing to write home about. My pasta meal was just ok, and my husband said his steak was good, but came with shrimp instead of the crab he ordered. The server didn't come back until the end of the meal so there was no way to get this corrected, or for drink refills. Good date location but disappointing for an $80 meal.

Stopped in passing through town and Yelp lead me here. I enjoyed a great steak that was made just the way I asked. They also gave great bread and beef stew. My server was awesome and we enjoyed a genuine conversation. The manager stopped by my table and was also super nice. The menu is expansive. The are many higher price items on the menu (but there are some less pricer options) but that is because of the awesome menu items. I felt that the food was well worth the price.

Upon several recommendations, we visited The Hearthstone on Wednesday night, to culminate our two weeks in Muskegon. What a satisfying end to a long work trip! The service was wonderful---the presentation of food was classy and impressive, and the cuisine was flavorful. Appetizers of hummus and pita bread, and sweet potato fries, entrees of spinich/wild mushroom chicken crepes and also a baked salmon on a bed of fresh veggies. Off on the side of the road and took us a second to figure out how to get to 'that side' of the street, and it was totally worth it. Highly, highly recommended for anyone visiting Western Michigan!

Finding decent food in Muskegon was tricky and Hearthstone exceeded our expectations. Solid food in a nice setting. The cheese soup, walleye pike and perch were all delish. Would have given the place 5 stars except for a whiskey which was ordered neat was served on the rocks. When the mistake was brought to waitress's attention, the whiskey was still cold having been strained and not re-poured.

This place is definitely not 5 stars. I got the filet with lump of wet spinach. The filet was prepared competently but not special in any way. The lobby smelled horrible - like a dirty bathroom. Service was good though. For the high price, it is definitely a pass. There are too many good restaurants to warrant going here.

The food, service, demeanor of the staff, portion sizes, just about everything was perfect. I never dined at a fine restaurant before that offered such large portions for the money. The owner certainly takes pride in training their staff well. I rarely give 5 stars. But this place deserves it. Hands down.

The Hearthstone has a wide variety of food and a wide variety of prices. There is something for everyone here. Soups are the highlight! The food and service are consistent and I eat here on a regular basis.

This restaurant was excellent. I came with a friend for dinner and service was quick. I ordered a salad with chicken which was great. There was more chicken than salad but I was not disappointed because the chicken was crispy and well-seasoned. Dessert was just as great. I ordered the chocolate torte which was rich and dense and very satisfying. All in all, it was a tasty meal that didn't break the bank!
I loved this restaurant. The service is great and there is a nice menu selection with out it being too much. I got the Asian cashew salad and it was excellent. Would come back again.

My absolute favorite restaurant at "home". I moved to Chicago 4 years ago, but whenever I'm in town to visit my family I always request dinner at The Hearthstone. I've never been disappointed with food or service. The soups are the best I've ever had (popcorn cheese soup and french onion- my mouth waters...). The salads are all great and so are the sandwiches. They also serve very yummy rolls before your meal :)

Randomly in Muskegon overnight, I of course went to Yelp to find a good restaurant for dinner. And the previous reviews of The Hearthstone were right on. The owners have made the most of a pretty mediocre (and hard to find as an out-of-towner) location, creating a nice terrace and cozy indoor seating area. The menu is impressive in its variety and length-- lots and lots of choices in a good range of price points. The service was wonderful as well, attentive with about being annoying. And the food was pretty amazing. The fritto misto of seafood, artichokes and zucchini was fantastic, as was my boyfriend's french onion soup. I ordered a barbecue chicken salad, which is hard to make wonderful, but they managed to do it. My boyfriend's croque madame (fancy ham sandwich with an egg on top) was quite decadent and the blueberry bread pudding we shared for dessert was great as well. With all of this food and beverage (and leftovers!) our bill was still reasonable. Oh, how I wish this place were much, much closer!

very classy restaurant in muskegon. great food, excellent service, and a cozy atmosphere. while visiting from san francisco, i read the glowing reviews on yelp, checked out their online menu, and decided to give it a try. and even as a vegetarian, i was impressed with the quality of the food (mac n cheese with mushrooms was SO good) and the very attentive and friendly service. full bar (w/ tv that wasn't turned on loud, thankfully) and a new private dining room for large groups, fyi. highly recommended for an upscale treat!

the Hearthstone is one of our favorites. the soup is wonderful, especially the cheese. sandwiches are always excellent and the specials are great. Went to the Hearthstone this evening and as usual, the food and service were great, however, in the booth behind us were three 40-50 something guys, of which one was loud, vulgar ( every other word was the F word) and obnoxious. The restaurant was crowded or I would have asked to be moved! If that happens again, I would ask to be moved..it spoiled our dinner!!!

One of the best (if not THE best) locally owned restaurant in the Muskegon area. Never disappointed in anything I try and they are always coming up with new amazing entrees.

My Aunt and Uncle took me here so I could have an opportunity to experience the fine dining Muskegon, Michigan has to offer and I must admit that their savory flavors tingled my tastebuds. I started my meal off with a cup of their cheese soup which was amazing! It was cheesy goodness and they put little bits of popcorn on top to give it some crunch. For all your cheese lovers this is a must eat! Then I had their turkey club sandwich which was humongous but very delicious. I didn't leave hungry at all and if I came here more hungry, I probably would of chosen one of their delictable specials of the day.

I've had a longstanding crush on The Hearthstone and it stays strong. Apparently so do many area residents if the crowd there tonight is any indication. It vindicates my faith in the taste of the people of the Muskegon area. They could have eaten at any number of fast food or chain restaurants. Instead they came here where they could get Beaujolais Nouveau (it's celebrated here!), coquilles st. jacques, and croque monsieur -- French cuisine to celebrate the wine. It doesn't get any better than this. Service was, as usual, terrific. When the renovations are complete and there's outdoor seating they'll deserve yet another star.

Finally made it back to the Hearthstone. We were able to have lunch on the patio and it was just delightful. The food was delicious. We started out with the andouille sausage flatbread - yummy! Everyone loved it. I had to get the perch again and it may have been better than last year. This year I tried the blueberry bread pudding. Wow! It was excellent. the service was very good. The employees really seemed to enjoy working there which always makes the dining experience better. If you have not been here it is a must if you are in the area!

Plenty of choices on the menu. Don't know the chef but whoever it is, I like their creativity. Whenever I'm in Muskegon I definitely make sure to grab a meal at this place. I love that it's locally owned and not some nasty chain restaurant.

This place is excellent. I really enjoy The Hearthstone for lunch, although dinner is good too (I see it more as a weekday dinner). I was just here over the holiday weekend and enjoyed a glass of wine and cup of French Onion soup for lunch, with a group of girlfriends. I try to make a point to visit every time I'm in town. The only downfall is no outdoor seating in the summer. Definitely a Muskegon gem!

The Hearthstone has long been the classiest dining experience in Muskegon. Known for its wonderful soups, cozy atmosphere, and excellent service, the place has just gotten better in the two years since I'd been there last. We had dinner there two nights ago, and it was fantastic. They've added outdoor seating and generally polished up the look of the indoor dining area. The food was fantastic as usual. My wife had the zucchini and sweet pea cream soup and it it was excellent. Nicely seasoned with a touch of herbs and full vegetable flavor. She also had the almond crusted perch, which was all the great things you'd expect from lake perch in West Michigan but a bit more refined, and a really nice herb remoulade as the tartar sauce. I had a bowl of the classic cheddar cheese soup (yes, a bowl, it's that good), and the fish tacos with lake perch. The tacos were outstanding, with fresh avocado, soft corn shells, and a spicy salsa on the side. My parents enjoyed their meals as well (my dad had perch and my mom had a salad off the specials menu). There were several craft beers on the menu, including Ayinger Weisse Brau, which was well-priced and a nice pairing with my meal. They also have a good wine selection and full bar, though we didn't partake of these. The service was friendly, fast, and very competent. We didn't require a whole lot of special treatment, but our server made us feel welcome and delivered everything timely. If you're looking for fine dining, a great soup, or excellent service, this is the place in Muskegon to go.

Visiting from Wisconsin you just never know what you are going to get. Thanks to Yelp this was a great experience as expected!!! All aspects of the service and food were very very good! And yes the Cheese soup is a guilty pleasure! Don't change a thing.

My husband and I went here for dinner last week. We ordered: fresh chips w/ garlic dipping sauce, the hummus, a goat cheese fritter salad (a special), the scallops over Israeli couscous (also a special), and the oven roasted muscles. Everything was EXCELLENT. The scallops were cooked perfectly - and I am extremely picky when it comes to scallops! The only thing I can say that was even slightly negative about the food was that there was only 1 goat cheese fritter on the salad - we would have liked to have one each, that is how good they were!! The muscles, too, were excellent. Tender, not chewy. The "sauce" they came in was tasty and I did, indeed, use the accompanying bread to sop up the remaining juice. Def recc this place!!

We went here for a nice dinner while on vacation - both of us enjoyed our steaks. I would like to go back for lunch, the salad I had before dinner (blue cheese, dried cherries, pecans) was excellent and my husband loved the clam chowder. We also tried the pate since it is house made - both of us enjoyed. The menu is interesting and many things sounded wonderful...the sandwiches that were brought out to other tables were huge and looked delicious. I would consider this a great place to stop, especially in the summer when you can sit outside.

What's up moms (see below) Anyway, the Listers truly deserve some sort of plaque from the Muskegon area for their commitment to great food and service. With The Hearthstone they've created a restaurant that would be successful in any large city at suburbia prices. Pairing high quality service and knowledge with a fantastic menu, The Hearthstone has been a longtime favorite and continues to be a regular stop when I'm home for a visit.

I am writing this review based solely on my experience with their customer service. My husband and I made reservations for our first wedding anniversary. As we entered the building, we saw signs stating "closing at 6:30 due to equipment failure" (our reso was at 7) we were immediately irritated (why didnt they call to let us know?!) and planned on letting them know. However, when I told the hostess we had a reservation, we got a whole lot more than just the "sorry" I expected! A manager greeted us with a $50 gift certificate, free dessert, and explained that she had made reservations for us at two of their sister restaurants, we just needed to let her know which one we'd prefer. I was totally blown away!! Never in my life have I encountered such fantastic customer service, and I have worked in the food service industry for almost 10 years! If they had simply made reservations for us we would have been pleased, but they definitely went above and beyond.

The Hearthstone has been in Muskegon since 1975....great run for a restaurant. Started out as soup, sandwiches and salad specialties but has evolved into a great full service bistro. Love the pate!

Wow, what a great restaurant!! On the suggestions found here, we headed to The Hearthstone while visiting the west side of the state. What a great choice! The first thing to note is the attitude of the wait staff. They were all very friendly....from the bar tender to the table crew. Of course, this would mean nothing if the food wasn't good, but that was not a problem, because it was outstanding. During our visit, we were even given a sampler of an appetizer that the chef had created for that day. From the bread to the salads to the main courses, the food was top notch. I recommend anyone visiting the Muskegon area definitely visit The Hearthstone!

I seriously spend each and every birthday at The Hearthstone. It's a cozy environment, great staff and awesome food. If you're looking for some place that has a wide variety of things to eat while sitting around a warm fire, make a reservation today. I highly recommend The Hearthstone and IMO it's the best place in Muskegon to eat.

Been there many times, and I always find something interesting. Had the crepes this past week, and they are great.

I go to the Hearthstone when I come to my cabin in Hesperia. This the best place to eat in Muskegon! The menu is great, the food and service FANTASTIC!

I worked at the Hearthstone and I have to say that this place is all about great service. I never had a disappointing evening as everyone was so happy to be there. My personal motto "Great Service, Good Food" was like a key in a lock here because that's what the Listers are all about. I learned so many things working here and met so many great people, employees and guests, that I'd highly recommend not only being a part of the Hearthstone team but dining here as well. I've seen both sides and ate there before, during, and now after working there. I have to say, if I hadn't moved across the state, I still would be there. The food is prepared with great care and finest ingredients. I can personally attest that this restaurant is the go-to place if you want great food and excellent service. Everyone in the building cares about your visit, which is rare these days. The features are beautifully presented and taste so good, you'll be begging for more. If you happen to be in the area or live in Muskegon and have never been, go to the Hearthstone! You will not be disappointed as they have something for everyone. And if you can't pronounce it or don't know what it is, try it. Don't be afraid to ask your server questions and let them suggest something new. This place is fabulous for trying a new dish because everything on the menu is to die for. I know this, because I've tried everything and I don't have one cross word to offer.

Decided to try this place instead of cafeteria food at Blue Lake before dropping my daughter off at camp. Used my Yelp app on my phone to find a restaurant because I was not familiar with Muskegon. aaaahhhhh I wrote down the name of this soup so I wouldn't forget and I lost it. Anyways on the waitresses' recommendation I tried the Muxatawney (sp?) soup- which was a coconut-curry soup with chick peas, rice and some chicken. I would have never ordered myself but decided to go with the recommendation and it was delicious! My husband and I split a mozzarella/tomato/basil on a rosemary herb ciabatta roll. The sandwich was fine, a few too many basil leaves and I would have like the cheese a little less melted but overall a fine sandwich (although next time I am trying the Italian Panino because that sounded delicious too). My husband and daughter both got the mushroom soup with wheatberries...my husband loved it my daughter thought it was o.k (she's 11). They had a pretty patio area but unfortunately it had just rained so we were inside. A little dark for me but overall a nice place.

My favorite restaurant in the area. I eat at the Hearthstone once a week. I always get the a soup while I'm there. The turkey club is my favorite sandwhich. The menu has items at all price points. You can spend $15 to $40 per person. There is also a great grass feed ribeye. Service is great but the location can be tough to find for tourists.

For the most part The Hearthstone is one of the better restaurants in Muskegon. I have always enjoyed the soups and sandwiches during lunch time but I wish they were a little more up paced. I like to get and out when I eat, especially if I am on my lunch break. The dinner menu is average at best, but the prices wouldn't be an indicator of that. The french fries (pomp frits as the menu calls them which I don't understand if it is suppose be a new American restaurant) come in a huge stack on the side of the plate and end up giving off an overwhelming feeling. The tableware is shoddy at best and looks like something from the 90's. The overall decor inside the restaurant gives off a sense of warmth, as the title suggests. The exterior just under went a "face lift" if you will but needs a little more than a coat of paint if they want to stand out. Overall, if the menu was revamped and tried to promote local sustainable ingredients with a new American edge I think The Hearthstone would be more successful. I suppose I can say "Yay! I'm a fan" but if there were an option I would only give the hearthstone 3.5 stars.

The food was very good. Portions were acceptable but not generous. We were given two rolls for dinner but never offered or given any olive oil. The server was helpful but not sophisticated. Would come back.

Out of town visitors looking for a good foodie lunch. Delicious! Best spot we've found in the Grand Haven/Spring Lake/Muskegon area BY FAR. We loved the menu and the variety of options, there were a few things we'd have liked to try but didn't because it would've been too much food. French onion soup was great, the bruschetta with the balsamic reduction was spot on, fried kale was great, and we loved the garlic rolls they bring when you sit down. Super cute patio too (weather permitting of course, we came in September). Might have to come back for dinner before we leave to go back home to California.

This is a must get off the road and stop here now kind of place. So glad we picked this on our way home late Friday evening from Sleeping Bear Dunes. It started with the warm friendly greeting by the hostess as we felt a bit under dressed and she assured us we were fine. Our server Bethany was top notch. A+ fresh from the heart food, ingredients and service. We will never drive thru Muskegon again without stopping.

I'll give a qualified "Woohoo!" since we are talking about Muskegon here (and not Paris) but the Hearthstone consistently gets it right. It is the standard by which I judge all other area restaurants - both for their food and their service - and is consistently good, every day and any time of day. Start with the menu - the mainstays are wonderful and have distinctive flavors that keep you ordering them over time but the specials are really seasonally appropriate and inventive without going into the "strange" that can happen when someone is trying to fillip the extra page they give you along with the menu. A shout out for the bar and wine selections - the bartenders know what they are doing and they have some excellent original drinks (my wife loves the Lister martini on the rocks) and the wine covers the spectrum nicely and is not insanely priced, but he glass or the bottle. Desserts - worth saving room for. We often share a dessert which justifies some of the entree going home in a box for a lunch / snack later. Ambience - dark, like use a flashlight dark for those with older eyes. Just updated the interior and it's actually quite nice but, maybe some additional light?? The patio is open when the weather is right and makes for a great dining experience. This is Muskegon's top restaurant and the fact that it is usually busy, speaks to that truth.

Came here based on reviews from yelp. So glad we did. Absolutely loved this place. Ambiance was great. Low light and pleasant music in the background. Starter off with the spring rolls, had the arugula salad for the main dish and finished with the sea salt caramel tort. Everything we had was excellent. And by excellent I mean outstanding. So much flavor and the presentation of foods was amazing. Compliments to the chef!! I like that they try to use local when they can. We were traveling thru and I didn't have nice clothes with me. Wore a casual skirt and top. Ended up leaving my "nice" shoes at the hotel and walked in with flip flops. Little embarrassed but it was ok, no one said anything. :)

Perch was rubbery, cole slaw was bitter, and the bread was hard and stale. Bartender was very helpful and friendly, the waitress staff seemed preoccupied with chit chat.

We had sandwiches here. The Italian pressed, the French dip and the turkey club. The sandwiches where ok. The French onion was to salty and the cheddar soup was ok only. Our waitress was great. The restaurant was grimy feeling. I had to take care not to slip on laminate because of grim. It was dim and sad inside. We where disappointed

We were returning to another fond memory of a dinner we had at Hearthstone Bistro a couple summers ago. The Hearthstone, in operation for decades, lived up to its reputation as the best restaurant in the Muskegon / Grand Haven area. The soups are particularly good: my girlfriend had a lobster bisque with rich aroma and flavor balanced by acidity. I had the Wisconsin cheese soup, the buttery cheesy base accented by crunchy light cheese puffs. Steak frites draw them in and for good reason, the cut was tender and well seasoned. I also enjoyed the bread pudding with creme anglaise for dessert, featuring Michigan fruit. We sat out on the patio and got to watch the sun duck storm clouds on its descent to the lake.

A+++ the soups are divine and the bread pudding is awesome. The mushroom fondue was yummy. We will be back again soon to try more. The service was first rate.

I have family in Muskegon, and every time I visit them this is one of the first places I insist we go to! I have never tried any soup that compares to their cheese soup, its so rich and flavorful. It is also a family favorite and reminds me of my childhood! Just thinking about it puts me in a good mood :) If you come to Hearthstone you have to order it. I have also tried the French Onion soup and croque monsieur which are really good! Their pastas are fantastic, but I had them so long ago I cannot remember the names, and I'm sure the menu has changed.

Yummmmm! Always my choice for my birthday dinner. Love the cheese soup with the popcorn on top. I also love that my inner child can come out and doodle mindlessly on the tablecloth. Very nice atmosphere, when you don't have noisy, loud people sitting near you.

Simply Wonderful!!!! I haven't lived in Muskegon since I was little, and recently have been coming back during the summer for a vacation(it's true, there is no place like home), and have enjoyed many local food joints that have been around for years that are always great, and didn't realize I had been leaving one out! The menu is large and has items priced the same as any Applebees,to more expensive items. My daughter had the humus, the pita bread was incredible, I had a chicken sandwich and my husband, the perch. I would put this restaurant up against the top restaurants in Atlanta, GA (where I currently reside) anyday! Can't wait to go back next summer!

I ate here a few weeks back. The cheddar soup was very good, great atmosphere . I had a flat bread pizza that wasn't fit to eat. The pork on it made me sick all Night. Made it a bad experience. Maybe next time I'll have s better choice.

Based upon the high Yelp ratings, we went to Hearthstone on a recent visit to Muskegon. W found out first hand why the high ratings exist. The cheese soup is unique and great so was all the food and service. Great setting as well. Understand why they have been in business for over 40 years.

After a day on the road traveling with our 4 year old granddaughter, we stopped her for an early dinner. Not only was it a relaxing and beautiful meal for my husband and I, but our granddaugher loved it. The staff was outstanding at attending to her needs and ours. We loved that it was quite and did not have tv's. This is how dining our should be. If you go you must have the Kale/Brussel Sprout/Brocolli salad - it was to die for. Thanks again for the wonderful expericene. We will be back and may actually make a special (3 hr) trip just to eat here.

Garlic and chip dip was out of this world! French onion soup was to die for! Cheeseburgers taste like a steak - that's how great they are - my chicken sandwich was phenomenal- best waitstaff that I have ever seen - everyone was super friendly and there to do anything that needed done

This restaurant is very nice from the moment you get out of the car. They have a beautiful courtyard where you can sit in during the warmer times. We told our server, Josie K, that it was our first time there and when we didn't order soup, she brought us out samples because she said that was their specialty. The soup was so good that my hubby and I both ordered some - him the cheddar potato and me the black bean soup. They were both some of the best soups we have ever had and that is saying alot, because hubby doesn't like soup very much. We ordered from the Two MOO Monday menu where we both received steaks, both cooked to our liking, two salads with fantastic dressings (blue cheese, balsamic) and for dessert we had the Peanut butter pie to go. The dessert was just the right amount of sweetness. The inside was very cozy and nicely decorated. Service was great. And the price couldn't be beat with the deal. We will definitely go back when we were in the area. Highly recommended.

Absolutely had the best experience here! It is officially now our favorite spot in the area and we will be returning frequently. The food is so great! I couldn't believe such 5-star quality food was in little-old-Muskegon Michigan like this! Our server was so friendly, and really made us enjoy our time there even more. They're very busy since they're so good, so I do recommend making a reservation.

We went there for lunch when coming home from Electric Forest. They have a creative menu for muskegeon which is pretty much why they are getting 5 stars. Because we live in the Detroit area, we wont get try to try many of their entrees, but we did enjoy what we did order which was the beer cheese soup, Salted Caramel Brie with Spiced Pecans, pork chop and pasta i think....Anyways, we would go back. great place! nice service!

One of the better restaurants in Muskegon. Isn't necessarily as good as it gets (which is why I didn't give 5 starts) but it's pretty good. I had the pork belly sandwich and chips which was really lovely.

First time visiting and was very impressed. The pork duo, pork belly and pork chop, was amazing. Also, tried the cheese popcorn soup which was very good. Nice comfortable atmosphere. Recommend making a reservation since this place is popular.

Every time I come visit the bf, I insist on having dinner at The Hearthstone. Everything we've tried has been good, which includes... -bbq ribs: a special they had this summer - deeeelicious! -french onion soup: thanks to the bf, I always look forward to having this whenever we eat dinner, and Hearthstone does it right! -the pork meal (I forget the name), but it comes with a pork rib chop (cooked perfectly!!) and pork belly. We haven't tried any desserts bc we're usu too stuffed to try it, but I did happen to try their watermelon-cucumber cocktail/slush when it was available over the summer...and it's now my favorite grown up drink!

Duo of pork was very good and the pork belly was the best best thing I tasted throughout the dinner. Also the 16 ribeye had great char flavor with a nice Cabernet sauce. The beef tenderloin was very tender had great beef flavor and did not need any sauce. Try the crispy spring rolls with the peanut sauce. the sauce was spot on and slaw salad that accompanies the spring rolls is excellent.

I found this via Yelp so I'm returning the favor with feedback for others. Nice, quaint atmosphere. I had The recommended French onion soup which was as good as they claimed. For the entree, I had the mushroom pasta, which was also right on. For beer, I wish the on tap selections were greater, but they had Ayinger Brau Weiss, which is an excellent wheat beer from my favorite brewery in the world and quite hard to find. Here's a tip for beer fans: Go to Unruly Brewing and / or Pigeon Hill brewing for beer and then eat dinner here, which was what I did yesterday.

Almost 2 weeks since we've dined here but I can clearly remember the awesome experience. We were camping in Hoffmaster State Park and I needed to get to a more civilized eating experience. I'm not a big fan of hot dogs and burgers so I yelped up this place as nearby and it looked awesome. Our huge group of 13 made up of mainly kids and sets of mommies and daddies really enjoyed this place as well. Food was awesome. Frenchy vibe since I ordered escargot, duck liver pate, and soft shell crab as my meal. Yes I know I'm a pig. They were so delicious and welcoming. This place is seriously the highlight of my camping trip. Oh did I mentioned margaritas?? My husband found some German beer he liked from Germany so he was a happy camper too. Oh yes....we showed up with our huge group and the staff are superb! They quickly put tables together for us and we were seated in minutes. Our waitress was so sweet and so attentive. She really deserved a humongous tip for dealing with our kids and everything. We loved her! It is hard to fulfill a huge party but she was just that good at her job. It helps that she's a mom herself so she understood our needs before we even asked for anything.

This is the best restaurant around - better than anywhere in Grand Haven, Holland, or Muskegon. Very professional staff and a great place to go for a special occasion. The mussels are awesome and so is the cheese soup (it has cheese puffs in it!) Make a reservation to get seated right away and don't be taken aback from the exterior and the general area it is in Make the trip out here if you are visiting the area.

Let's be honest, best restaurant in Muskegon. Never disappointed with the food or the service. Great for a lunch after shopping all day, half sandwich and cup of soup is plenty for lunch. Dinner is upscale with flavorful items along with lunch items. It's reasonably prices for the quality of food. Ask to try the Soups, wait staff will bring little samples and some soups might surprise you on how good they may be even though they may sound strange. My favorites: cheddar cheese soup, Thai vegetable spring rolls, and grilled turkey club sandwich. They have a great deal 2 for $22, Monday-wedsenday. Great for an inexpensive weeknight date night! Romantic setting at night.

I went here with my family. We had a very good bottle of wine, and before dinner they brought bread and a chef's selection (smaller tasters meant to entice you to order an appetizer). It was all lovely. My mom is gluten free, and they have her a plate of nice crackers (GF) instead of a piece of bread before dinner. Their gluten free menu suggested ways they could adapt their normal fare to be gluten free. My brother ordered the walleye, my dad the steak and cakes, and I the crab cakes. All of the portions were fine (served on very very large plates, which made them look small, but once you started eating you were fine). The food was very good. The mustard for the walleye and crab cakes was the same, and it was a nice compliment on both dishes. Mom ordered the spinach tagliatelle with mushrooms and chicken, and they served it over spinach instead of pasta to make it gluten free. She absolutely loved it, and our family would recommend it. For dessert we tried the seasonal pumpkin cheesecake (not GF) and the cloudless chocolate cake. Both were rich and decadent. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Several times she and perhaps a manager came to ask about our food. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

My choice to eat here was based on the positive Yelp reviews and the fact that there's really not much else in the area. I was in Muskegon on business for one night and - all things considered - it was a pretty good dinner. I had the cheese soup (it was pretty good) and the filet, which was cooked perfectly, but lacked the wow factor I was kinda hoping for. I guess seeing 5 stars just raises my expectations a bit more than it should have in this case. But in the end my 3 star rating had more to do with the disappointing service than the food. I'm pretty easy to please, but I can't stand a server who appears to hate his/her job. When I asked him what he'd recommend (something I always do when I visit a new place) he shrugged his shoulders and looked impatient. They weren't too busy to give a recommendation, I assure you. He also never asked how the food was. Hopefully he was just having a bad day and this isn't normal.

This place is worth traveling to Muskegon! We visited on a rainy Halloween night. It was blustery and cold. The staff (in various costumes) were awesome, super knowledgeable and super helpful. Our meals were the best I've eaten in Michigan, anywhere. Perfectly prepared, perfectly presented and of just the right proportions. This was easily the best steak I'd eaten anywhere, so far this year. It was tough to leave and drive another hour, in the rain, to our final destination. I know our next visit to Michigan, I want to come back.

WOW! Started with perfect cocktails. Then had the amazing soup trio, including goulash, cheeses, and chicken noodle. They were unbelievable. So good, so good, so good. The goat cheese fritter came, and we were in heaven. Also had the ahi tuna salad and quiche as entrees. The whole meal and experience was spectacular.

(5)Susan W.
A classic restaurant in Muskegon. It's dark and cozy with great food and some of the best service I've ever experienced. As the other reviews state, you must try the cheese soup. It makes a great starter on a cold winter day!
(5)Bill B.
(5)Louis R.
(3)Matthew G.
They made my wife happy, and not in a carnal way, which is hard to do. Food was great and service was awesome. It was packed but got sat quite fast. I will be back and I might even bring the wifey.
(5)Jay J.
Had the soup and sandwich lunch special. "soup of the day" which was Cuban black bean with cilantro and lime it was really good. However the sandwich (ham and Swiss) was average at best. I would of given a better star rating if the service would have been better.
(3)Meg K.
(5)Julie T.
(4)Mark B.
(5)Britany S.
(4)Evie B.
(5)Angel G.
this place was good, clean, and great service. i recommend the cheddar soup. they also have good deals during the week. i went on a Monday they had two steaks and two salads for $24.

(5)Susan R.
(4)Glenn V.
One of the few places in Muskegon that I have patronized that is constantly packed full of patrons. granted it was a 2 for the price of 1 for Lake Perch, but that does not take full responsibility for the level of attendance. This review is based on the Hearthstone's lunch menu, although I have gone for a few drinks near dinner time. ((I will update this review so it will reflect my dinner experiences as I intend on having a few more than the single experience I have had thus far.)) For an appetizer I ordered the House made Country Pate of Duck with Pistachio's and Cointreau, which was extremely authentic and served in the French traditional way with buttered toast points and sweet gherkins. I followed that with the Croque Monsieur Signature sandwich.: Adiabatic, Dijon mustard béchamel the sandwich was spectacular and with the fresh pommes frites, without a doubt some of the best most authentic French sandwiches I have has in some time. With the French Onion Dip Sandwich with peppers being the other sandwich I enjoyed, Hearthstone delivers from lunch to dinner the culinary punch of a heavyweight prize fighter in the Muskegon area. Additionally there are four other signature sandwiches and seven other non signature options of sandwiches to choose from. The sisson beer I was consuming went perfectly, but at $12.00 was higher than I had anticipated.

(5)Ellen P.

Wish I had had a chance to try one of their "famous" soups...maybe next time.

very nice place friendly staff and great food! Reasonably priced and a good value for the quality .......nice variety on the menu lots of options. and a very relaxing atmosphere no rush service ....

Consistently delicious with exceptional service. Haven't had a bad thing on the menu yet, but I would highly recommend any of the soups!!
(5)Mike D.
(4)Kim W.
Came here last night for our anniversary dinner. It was fabulous. Waitress was very friendly and helpful cause we have never been there before. I will come here again. Well worth the money.
(5)Ryan M.
The best restaurant in Muskegon, as far as I am concerned. I only go for lunch, though. I start with a soup sampler and go with the "trilogy" (3 cups of soup) if I like them all, and otherwise get a cup of soup and half of a french dip sandwich.
(5)James B.
It soared.
(5)Melissa J.
The food and the service are always reliably top-notch. I brought some LA friends to my hometown for the 4th of July weekend and they were also really impressed. I can't believe I had never tried the cheese soup before - it is amazing!
(5)Sarah G.
One of my favorite restaurants. Went today. Food outstanding. Waiter terrible. Second time we have had him as a waiter. Not good.
(3)Matthew L.

(5)Jim S.
(5)Karen A.
(2)Josh M.
(5)Julie N.
(5)Angela R.
(4)Drew L.
(2)Joe T.
The food, service, demeanor of the staff, portion sizes, just about everything was perfect. I never dined at a fine restaurant before that offered such large portions for the money. The owner certainly takes pride in training their staff well. I rarely give 5 stars. But this place deserves it. Hands down.
(5)Suzanne S.
The Hearthstone has a wide variety of food and a wide variety of prices. There is something for everyone here. Soups are the highlight! The food and service are consistent and I eat here on a regular basis.
(5)Suzanne V.

We moved here from the Portland, OR area, which is the epicenter of fresh, local, seasonal, artisanal. We now live about 20 minutes from Ferris State, and while there are some very nice local places, I've been kind of spoiled in the past being able to eat the best from all corners of the world within a 15 mile radius of The Pearl. I've missed the excitement and diversity. The Hearthstone is very much a product of its local environment. People from more diverse communities with large immigrant populations might not find it compares well, but I'd think it a terribly jaded view. This is a place that pays attention to the details, resting a steak before slicing it, well-prepared, crisp/tender veggies. The highest praise I can offer is to laud the creme brûlée, a dessert I often pass by, because poor technique yields grainy, pale blonde caramel crust. This was deep mahogany and nary a grain of sugar to be found, as it should be. Not heavy or greasy, just light and creamy and balanced. For that alone, I am a fan. I have eaten it many places, am often disappointed. Thie was in my top 3. I think they do a wonderful job of catering to those who like a reliable menu while educating palates and offering more diversity for those who like to try something new. I have found few restaurants up north (save a few Grand Traverse area gems) that can walk that line so skillfully. It's quite a hike for us, but was well worth it. I like to putter around the kitchen, obsessing over little details, fussing over a recipe until I have mastered it. There are a few offerings of theirs I wish I could tweak.... They are good, but I wish I could have them a different way. Most restaurants I wish I could re-write the menu and recipes, this one.... Other than my nit-picky, OCD quibbles, is perfect. As much as our family enjoyed the food, the service is even more impressive. The owners are personally involved, tremendously skilled, and it shows. We will be back. There are so many different things I'd like to try, and some of the specials tonight had me wishing for more stomachs and a bigger bank account.
(4)Casey K.
I loved this restaurant. The service is great and there is a nice menu selection with out it being too much. I got the Asian cashew salad and it was excellent. Would come back again.
(5)Katie W.
(5)Rachel L.
(5)Karen O.
very classy restaurant in muskegon. great food, excellent service, and a cozy atmosphere. while visiting from san francisco, i read the glowing reviews on yelp, checked out their online menu, and decided to give it a try. and even as a vegetarian, i was impressed with the quality of the food (mac n cheese with mushrooms was SO good) and the very attentive and friendly service. full bar (w/ tv that wasn't turned on loud, thankfully) and a new private dining room for large groups, fyi. highly recommended for an upscale treat!
(5)Linda P.
the Hearthstone is one of our favorites. the soup is wonderful, especially the cheese. sandwiches are always excellent and the specials are great.
(5)Nancy J.
One of the best (if not THE best) locally owned restaurant in the Muskegon area. Never disappointed in anything I try and they are always coming up with new amazing entrees.
(5)Wing C.
Great food and atmosphere! Service was excellent!
(5)Kate P.
(5)Bonnie G.
(5)Greg K.
Best food on our two week vacation. High five to the chef and crew. Ate the asian salad. The wife had fried goat cheese with roasted beets. I would definitely return again
(5)Andrea K.
(5)Danielle F.
Plenty of choices on the menu. Don't know the chef but whoever it is, I like their creativity. Whenever I'm in Muskegon I definitely make sure to grab a meal at this place. I love that it's locally owned and not some nasty chain restaurant.
(5)Jaime S.
Very attentive service, eclectic menu, good space. $3.99 top shelf martinis on Tuesdays = fantastic.
(4)Stephanie H.
(5)Roland S.
(5)Angie K.
Very good food but a little rich for my taste. The garlic parm rolls they give you is the best part. They are delish! The service was superb.
(4)Gary A.
Visiting from Wisconsin you just never know what you are going to get. Thanks to Yelp this was a great experience as expected!!! All aspects of the service and food were very very good! And yes the Cheese soup is a guilty pleasure! Don't change a thing.
(5)Beth J.
(4)Malissa A.
(4)laura g.
(5)Jodi J.
(5)Mary H.
The Hearthstone has been in Muskegon since 1975....great run for a restaurant. Started out as soup, sandwiches and salad specialties but has evolved into a great full service bistro. Love the pate!
(5)Chris S.
(5)Doug F.
(5)Andrew C.
Been there many times, and I always find something interesting. Had the crepes this past week, and they are great.
(5)Barb S.
I go to the Hearthstone when I come to my cabin in Hesperia. This the best place to eat in Muskegon! The menu is great, the food and service FANTASTIC!
(5)Brittany G.

(4)Lawson S.
(5)Jared C.
(4)Greg G.

(5)M G.
(5)Rick C.
(5)Joanna S.

The is very clean, comfortable. The employers are sympathetic. The food is delicious. The price is expensive.

Food is always outstanding - we enjoy dining at the Hearthstone. Owners takes great pride in the restaurant and the food presentation and favors. Highly recommend.

My favorite restaurant to dress up and go out to. Amazing food, a little too dark sometimes but it's nice to set the mood at the right time. Lovely serving staff, always well dressed.

One of the better restaurants in Muskegon. Isn't necessarily as good as it gets (which is why I didn't give 5 starts) but it's pretty good. I had the pork belly sandwich and chips which was really lovely.
(4)Joe B.
First time visiting and was very impressed. The pork duo, pork belly and pork chop, was amazing. Also, tried the cheese popcorn soup which was very good. Nice comfortable atmosphere. Recommend making a reservation since this place is popular.

Delicious, had sandwiches and sweet potatoe fries, plated very nicely and served with warm bread. Cheddar soup was good as well.
