Nice atmosphere, good friendly service and a bigger menu than expected (don't let the tavern name fool you). Reasonable prices, lake perch and Oberon on tap make for a good time.

The food was good, had the pulled pork and perch. Both were great, they also have a 33oz mug for beer that was really well priced maybe around 9 bucks. Also had the beach bread which was really good, but they only come in orders of 4. Overall I would def be back

Visit Johnny at the bar, he will definitely hook you up. I had a drink I was curious to try and he made it excellently and according to what I had told him. The only place in NM where I've been able to find Irish shuffleboard so it's bound to be a good time. :)

We decided on a late dinner on a Saturday night. We were seated quickly in the dining area. The restaurant was pretty noisy with carryover from the bar area. I asked for a Smithwicks which was listed on the draft beer menu and was told that was the only one they didn't have. I then changed to a glass of Malbec. The pour was fairly generous. I had the Philadelphia Steak sandwich and my husband a burger. Both were ok but nothing special. The Philly Steak was listed on the menu as rib eye steak thinly sliced, but was really dry and tough even with the addition of au jus. Overall a decent place to eat, but nothing special.

We love this place. The perch and ribs are our favorites. They are priced fair for what you get and the variety. All the food we have tried is good. We have brought friends here and they love it and come back again. Atmosphere is casual and friendly. Managers are attentive.

Tasty food, decent prices, and a no-attitude atmosphere--give it a shot! I'm a big Hobo's fan. Hit this place up every chance I get. North Muskegon needs a place like this: reliably cooked food you can count on, prices that won't break you, and a fun, inviting atmosphere that somehow magically accommodates both family-style restaurant goers and sports bar enthusiasts. Pool tables and shuffleboard tables await in the back if that's your game. TVs carrying various sporting events line the perimeter of the building. The staff are mostly local residents who are well familiar with their beloved North Muskegon, and they work hard to make sure you're happy during your visit. I've tried everything from their burritos to ribs to their perch dinner. Have yet to taste a disappointing meal. And there's often live music by acts like Tommy Foster on certain nights. Always a good time. You can also tell it's a great spot because it's the kind of place the staff like to frequent on THEIR days off! Tons of off duty servers, bartenders, and hostesses line the bar on any given night. North Muskegon doesn't have too many options for good food and good drink, but that doesn't stop Hobo's from striving for excellence nonetheless. It's the kind of place you'll go because of a desire to go, not because of a lack of options. Don't hesitate to pull in! :)

First the good: nice atmosphere. It's a big place, but feels cozy. A nice selection of brews on tap. My wife and I were greeted warmly, the food came out really fast, and we had friendly service. My wife and I stopped in recently because we had a gift card. I had the perch, which was actually really good, they have a nice batter, which I think they describe as a "dusting" on the menu. It was light and the tartar sauce was really nice too. So why the two stars? I know I mentioned friendly service but our server was just on top of us the entire visit. I bet with delivering our food and drinks and checking up on us, she came by our table at least 8 times in the 45 minutes or so that we were there. Don't know if they try to create a quick turnover, but the food came out so quickly, and she checked on us so often, it felt like they were trying to push us out the door. My wife got the special which I believe was a pork loin with stuffing and gravy on top. That too was decent, but nothing to write home about. There were mashed potatoes on the side, served in a single serving bowl which were obviously scooped from a big pan with an ice cream scoop. There was also a whipped cranberry dish on the side in a bowl. This presentation made it feel like it came from a cafeteria. Back to my perch, mine came with fries, which really sucked. They were the run of the mill crinkle cuts that you can get at any grocery store. It was almost like they ran out and sent one of the cooks to Sav-a-Lot for another bag. Then they skimped on the fries, so it was like they were limiting the portions so they wouldn't run out again. To sum it up, it was a decent meal, but the server wouldn't leave us alone. As Hobo's is a solid 20-25 minutes away from my house, we probably won't be going back, unless we get another gift card.

Visited the Hobo while spending the weekend in nearby Montague. This place was a welcome alternative to the pizza/burgers/deep-fried diner food found north of Muskegon! We both had sirloin/perch combo plate. Steaks were both done to our liking and tender. Fun atmosphere and good service. Would not hesitate to make a return visit!

Typical sports bar-type bar/restaurant with TVs blaring, all on different sporting events and a pool table in the corner. Food was decent. They offer all the usuals: burgers, wraps, salads (boring choices there) but a few interesting entrees as well. I had the roast pork cooked with Grand Marnier and another liqueur, cooked with mushrooms and onions -- it was very tasty and there was plenty of it. It was served with a mixed vegetable combo with cheese and marinara sauce on top (not quite sure how that fit with the pork) and mashed potatoes. Husband had the ribs, cole slaw and fries which he said was fine.

Traveling up north last week, we had the pleasure of dining at Hobo's. Service was fantastic...(Thanks Gage!) and the food was delicious. I absolutely 100% say this was the best Veggie Burger I have ever had and my husband had the Perch Reuben that was melt in your mouth goodness. We are driving up to Saugatuck in a couple of weeks and I'm thinking about taking a detour to hit this place again. I need to get the recipe!!!

Our favorite place to eat and to bring family and friends when they come to visit. Nice selection of beers on tap and we've never had a bad meal. Seems like there is always a wait for dinner but it is never more than 15 minutes. Good food. Good drinks. Good service. Seriously.

Didn't come for food, just for drinks and I liked that my cousin, her friends and I were able to have a conversation where we didn't have to shout to be heard. Also, their drink selection was extensive, which was impressive. Any kind of drink you can imagine, they can serve it up for you. They also have a very cozy fireplace that is nice to sit by and a patio where you can bring your drinks out on and have a smoke, if you so choose. Also, their women's bathroom was very clean and cute with a purse border, pink walls, and pictures of hair do's from various decades. All in all, a fun place to hang out in with friends and family.

This place gets 4 stars from me for the Cooper Special alone. It's soooo good. Although it does seem like every time we order it, it's different. Lately they've been really skimpy with the extras (onions, kraut, green peppers) and you pay extra for them! C'mon, Hobo's! I love the grenade glasses they use for their medium-sized beers. Good place for drinks and pretty good food. It has a nice interior and outdoor seating when the weather allows. The staff is very friendly also.

Jessica is a snobby waitress. I went there earlier tonight at 5:15 p.m. and was seated at the center table when you walk straight ahead there through the doors. I thought she did a terrible job checking up on me and never asked if I wanted a refill of water and also didn't take my plate of food away after I was finished. Hardly acted in a professional demeanor and wasn't the most friendly towards me. Overall not very accommodating. I did not feel welcomed. I was the guy wearing a beige jacket and ordered the boneless chicken wings. Most likely will not return if that's how the employees treat their customers.

Probably the best place in North Muskegon for a casual dinner or drinks. A good addition to the dining and drinks options on the northside of Muskegon. Newer than the alternatives and nicer, too. We eat here every time we come to town, and I've never had a bad meal. In addition to the usual assortment of fried appetizers, burgers, steaks, BBQ ribs, and such, Hobo's has great soups/stews, fried perch, and brats. In fact, I recommend the perch dinner or the the Cooper's Special (4 brats and a pitcher of beer for twelve bucks). The service here has been very friendly and prompt. They've been very accommodating when my sister or friends have brought their children at dinner time. A good full bar, nice decor (including a fireplace), and while they have a few screens about, it's not really a sports bar, and I didn't find the TVs as distracting or intrusive as they are at many bars.

Yum! This place was pretty awesome. Very friendly staff and great food. I had the pulled pork sandwich. The food from Hobo's Tavern is a bit on the pricey side, with two people for lunch and appetizers costing around $50. However, everything that I have had has been completely worth the cost. The customer service is what I would expect for the cost, and the atmosphere is very inviting.

My wife and I went there for our anniversary. I had the full rack of ribs, and she had something that was supposed to be like a shepherds pie. This was the worst food I have ever eaten. You can tell that they microwave their food, my ribs had been microwaved and then slathered with barbecue sauce. My wife's shepherds pie was microwave so long that it was burnt. If you are going to go to this place I would recommend that you order the hamburgers, that seemed to be the only thing that their chefs were actually cooking, everything else came right from the microwave.

I went here because it was partway between Michigan's Adventure Park and the Shoreline Inn. I work at a local hotel and send tons of guests to Hobo's. They come back very happy and will even return a second night during their stay. Had dinner there the other night with my family of 7 and we all liked it. Great food and service. We sat by the fireplace, it was beautiful but may be a little loud. I am vegetarian and was very happy to have a couple of choices. Can't wait to go back to try more of their expansive menu.

EAT HERE!!! NOW!!! After a day a Michigan Adventure I did a yelp check for any decent place to eat nearby. Chose Hobo's and was not disappointed at all. Pulled in and saw a full parking lot. We were worried there would be a long wait. Nope! Hostess sat us right away. Drinks were ordered and on the table in the blink of an eye. Same with the food. Everything was cooked perfectly. Wait staff was awesome. Waitress even took off a small miscommunication issue with our order THAT we didn't even complain about. My only problem is they don't have a Hobo's open near me.

We wanted to go to the Handsome Hobo pizzeria, but it was lunchtime and they don't open till 4pm. Fortunately, Hobo's Tavern shares the same parking lot and smelled delicious so we chose to stay and eat here. We were so glad! The food was very good, although just slightly higher priced than in a non-tourist area (maybe a dollar or two more). The atmosphere was interesting and clever, the restaurant was very clean and our server was cheery, outgoing and prompt. I will definitely come back if I find myself in this area again. The word "tavern" in the title is a bit misleading. This restaurant is really nice and I would absolutely feel comfortable bringing the whole family.

Seems the quality has gone down, ordered the lettuce wraps and the cucumber and carrot were not very thinly sliced. I was not able to wrap the lettuce around. Ordered a burger at a different date and the patty was in half not sure if they did that to make sure it was cooked? The fries that accompanied the burger were still raw...attention to detail is lacking there.

On vacation from St. Louis and one of the locals here suggested I stop in. Came in after the Sunday church rush and this was definitely not a mistake. The place was still 1/3-1/2 full. Very clean and modern yet rustic atmosphere. I was seated and waited on right away. The menu is perfect size without too many choices but a wide variety of items. I ordered the lake perch w/ coleslaw and redskins. Food was in front of me within 10 mins and it was excellent. Great sized portions and my bill with drink and tax was still under $20. I will definitely come back on my future visits to Muskegon!

A welcome sight at an otherwise non-descript intersection, the exterior sets a high expectation for a quality experience. I can gladly report that the place delivers. High level of professional service, and an interesting array of American and Irish pub fare that was satisfying to the palates of everyone of 12 in our party. And at reasonable prices too! Large modern flat screens kept us abreast of all the action without being obtrusive. Well done, Hobo's!!! You have a new fan in me.

Overall I would def be back
(3)Evie B.
Visit Johnny at the bar, he will definitely hook you up. I had a drink I was curious to try and he made it excellently and according to what I had told him. The only place in NM where I've been able to find Irish shuffleboard so it's bound to be a good time. :)
(4)Trent H.
Food was very good. Great beer selection too. We will be back.

Nice local place to eat and get some beers when I'm in town visiting family, large menu of food and beer.

(5)Bonnie G.

This is Handsome Hobo, across from the Hobo Tavern, big difference. The pasta dishes are especially wonderful , as is the service. Attractive, had a firepiit and different eating areas, highly recommend!

Our favorite place to eat and to bring family and friends when they come to visit. Nice selection of beers on tap and we've never had a bad meal. Seems like there is always a wait for dinner but it is never more than 15 minutes. Good food. Good drinks. Good service. Seriously.
(5)Kate P.

(4)Michael W.
The ribs were awesome. The Moscow mule was amazing. Second time we came to this place and it didn't disappoint. My son had chicken fingers and noodles and thought it was great. Thumbs up, mr hobo.

Yum! This place was pretty awesome. Very friendly staff and great food. I had the pulled pork sandwich. It comes with their coleslaw on top, but I asked for mine on the side in case I didn't like it in my sandwich. I would recommend it on the sandwich though, because something about the combination of the two was the bees knees! Seriously good.

The food from Hobo's Tavern is a bit on the pricey side, with two people for lunch and appetizers costing around $50. However, everything that I have had has been completely worth the cost. The customer service is what I would expect for the cost, and the atmosphere is very inviting.
(5)Marybeth S.

Been here a couple times. It's pretty legit, and it could probably be 4 stars, except that for me at least there wasn't anything really outstanding about it.
(3)Todd S.
(1)Dave C.
I went here because it was partway between Michigan's Adventure Park and the Shoreline Inn. Been here twice: - Standard American Fare - Reasonable prices - Good for adults and families - TVs in the rooms to keep bored kids occupied - Excellent service - Food worth the price - Friendly waitresses - Good location - Fast in and out
(4)Rusty R.
Nice atmosphere. My wife and I both had the chicken Chipotle sandwich. Delicious! Sandwich was big enough we could have shared one between us.

(5)Matt M.
EAT HERE!!!
(5)Michele H.
(4)Meg K.
(3)Ron T.
(5)Tom A.
(5)Don B.
Stopped after a long day at MI Adv. After looking up reviews have it a try. Can't recommend anything more highly. Parking lot was very full, family was getting grumpy from lack of food. Got seated right away, good menu. Excellent waitress, and the food was even better. Kids actually commented on their chicken fingers being very good, as the wife and I had steak which was VERY good. This was a great finish to a wonderful day. We may actually make a special trip to just come back for the food.
(5)JimTrac D.
We just had an awesome dinner after a fun filled ay at Michigan Adventures! Our group of 10 (4 adults and 6 kids) came in and was seated right away! The staff was amazing and very upbeat, especially after they mentioned they had a mad rush for the USA soccer game! We all were very happy with our meals! Not only was our waitress awesome with our kids but several members of the staff took time out to talk to them and make them feel special! The decor was fun and the 22 beers on tap made the exhausted parents very happy! We loved Hobo's and will be back again!
(5)Joe L.
Great selection and variety. Best gluten-free menu we've ever seen. Nice atmosphere and knowledgeable servers. They even have a gf menu for kids. Most everything is made from scratch. They have gf buns and pasta so you can have a real meal! Most importantly, the food tastes great! What a great find in Muskegon!
(5)Pat H.
Especially good for families coming out of Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. The food is good and very reasonably priced, space is ample and clean and they have large tables (can seat two families).

Especially good for families coming out of Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. The food is good and very reasonably priced, space is ample and clean and they have large tables (can seat two families).

Nice atmosphere, good friendly service and a bigger menu than expected (don't let the tavern name fool you). Reasonable prices, lake perch and Oberon on tap make for a good time.
