I'll agree with Brittany H that nothing aside from the name is very Irish here, but it's still an A-OK place. Typical bar fare (fries, wings, burgers, fish and chips etc) with a few surprises here and there. Our burgers were a bit overdone (we ordered medium-rare and medium-well, and got medium and well-done, respectively) and the crab bisque is actually made with the fake "krab" which was a huge disappointment, but the service was quick and friendly, the prices were reasonable, the place was clean and comfortable, and they seemed to have some pretty decent drink specials.

I recently ate at McGeadys after a long time and I was pleasantly surprised! I loved their choices for specialty burgers. You can never go wrong with a burger and Guiness.

The Best in Monroe, hands down !!! If you're going there for beer, thats fine. They do have a nice selection when it comes to beer. But what really makes it stand out above all the other establishments that I've visited is the excellent food and service. The staff is always very friendly and they go out their way to make sure you're happy. This isn't your typical bar with just pretzels and peanuts. They of course have what you'd expect to get at a bar: burgers, fries, wings, etc. The real surprise is the choice of fine dinners they have there. And when its served to you, it's not just thrown on a plate; its presented as if it were prepared in a gourmet pricey restaurant. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get there. Prepare to take home food, because they do give you very generous portions. There are so many more good things I could say about this place, but I don't want to write a novel here. The bottom line is, go there and Enjoy !!

Probably the best place for a group dinner in downtown Monroe, and a good alternative if you are looking for local flavor, as opposed to national and regional chains found throughout the north and northwest ends of Monroe. Reasonably priced tavern cuisine can be hit or miss, depending on the entree. I had a very well-prepared Cobb salad, but others were disappointed various other dinner dishes.

Never eaten here before until tonight, saw it reviewed on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Located in adorable downtown Monroe. Service was super fast, no wait for a table. Great drink specials and food special menu. Not a huge selection for pescatarians, but we ended up getting fish and chips, a ceasar salad, spinach artichoke dip and crab bisque. Food was good, and the atmosphere in the place was laidback and fun. Will be trying it again. Recommend.

McGeady's is THE town pub in Monroe. The atmosphere is the best in the city and makes it easy to spend a long evening enjoying food, drink and company. It's not rowdy or hipster, and that goes a long way. The menu offers much more than you'd expect from a pub, and the taste and quality is better than many full restaurants in town. It's easy to become a regular here -- you're always treated like a friend.

McGeady's has that great pub feel, something Monroe doesn't really offer anywhere else. Their food is a little overpriced for what you get, but it's tasty. If you're looking for an interesting but awesome appetizer, try the deep fried broccoli! (Gotta get your broccoli in somewhere, eh?) McGeady's also features a bar and dance floor upstairs. I never really see them used though. Such a shame; they could really get a cool club going up there! I attended a birthday party there once, which was pretty fun. It's great for a smaller party; and hey, a dance floor is available!

Parking is on street and its not particularly Irish except for the name. That being said if you are looking for bar food this place is delicious and open on Sundays which in Monroe is rare. Will go.back again and again!

Yay! A non-chain restaurant in Monroe that has good food AND good service! I have not been so lucky on getting both good food and good service, so I am very excited to write a good review for McGeadys! My husband and I stopped in at lunchtime, and were able to seat ourselves in a comfy booth. We were noticed by a server quickly, and he dropped off menus, silverware, and a special menu with the day's specials, soups, etc. He came back with our drinks quickly, took our order, and my coleslaw came just a few moments after. Within a few minutes, my husband had his soup as well- we were impressed! He had philly cheesesteak soup, which was really tasty and unique. I had ordered the fish and chips, which came with waffle fries. They were not seasoned waffle fries, just your traditional white fries. They were tasty and hot off the presses! The fish I had was delicious- they were very thick pieces that were seasoned well with a good tasting batter. My husband had one of their salads- which was a huge portion size with lots of meat, eggs, cheese, etc. Our table was prebussed quickly, and when another server came by, she picked up our last plates and saw our card on the table. She took our card to the server and had it ran for us! Talk about service! I'm very excited to go to this place again!

Stopped here one night after fishing. Really liked the regular nachos, the ground beef had good seasoning on it. I ordered a burger, it was good, but I think had a bit too much seasoning on it. Onion rings were frozen ones and tasted disgusting. Bf ordered spinach artichoke burger which he said was good, and obviously something you don't see everywhere. Daughter got kids fish and chips meal, she liked it. Don't get the kids ice cream, it's literally just vanilla ice cream. Overall good place, would come again Also, the had a pretty decent craft beer selection for a tiny pub

In a nutshell. .. it's a cool old downtown building, it DOES have a great pub feel to it ... there's even more space upstairs for banquets and other pre arranged events. What's more... Everyone was smiling ... the McGeady Burger is huge and the drinks are correctly spirited. Beer selection was decent. Had a "Grolsch" for the first time since 1989. That brought back memories. Dress can be a tad above casual. Just a tad. Just a block from the courthouse so you'll see some suits in here. .

This place is my favorite pub in downtown Monroe. They got good margaritas and if you like chicken wings you gotta get the cherry bourbon BBQ sauce! It's to die for

Stopped in for a late lunch during a road trip. Nice atmosphere for an Irish bar in a quiet town. Lonnie the bartender was quite pleasant. He suggested beers to pair with my meal. The rest of the staff was friendly as well. I imagine it is even nicer when it is busy.

Cute, rustic, Irish Pub located in Downtown Monroe. We were excited at the potential of this place being great because we are moving to the neighborhood. My fiancé and I both started with the crab bisque. We were disappointed when we took our first bite, discovering that what we were served was actually IMITATION CRAB bisque. Come on, man. Be honest in what you are actually serving here. The menu should read "crab" bisque or imitation crab bisque. We followed our suspicious soup with a French Dip with waffle fries and Reuben with chips. Both were pretty good, standard pub fare. Reuben was a little soggy because of poorly drained kraut. Waffle fries were frozen, chips were from a bag. Service was very fast but sloppy, I had to ask for a refill on my water and not one dish was cleared off of the table the entire time we were there, no offer of dessert was made. Side note: water had an off taste, musty or mildew like. Dirty lines or ice maker? After dinner I used the restroom which was filthy. We will keep looking for an awesome place in Downtown.

My boyfriend asked me to try this place. He said that their burgers are better than Larson's.....he was incorrect..... I tried them out. I hated it. #1. they got our order wrong. #2. the burgers we ordered were not cooked medium as we asked. they came well done. Perhaps the cook was having a bad night. Perhaps the person who took our order was not listening. Whatever the reasons for the poor experience, I was not impressed.

Not too much "irish" food on the menu besides a Reuben with corned beef. I got the fish and chips and it was very good, came with 4 pieces of cod and a heaping plate of waffle fries. They have pretty big portions here. Very friendly service!

They changed the club sandwich... I still like it, but it's now on a pretzel bun instead of regular sandwich bread. It's not better or worse, just different. Give it a try.

Although we didn't get a chance to try the food, the bar tender, Lonnie, was top-notch and made us feel quite welcome. Seems like a family friendly place. The liquor/beer prices were more than fair.
