We live in Midland and my wife and I went last night to give this bar a second chance. Food was ok, but again service was awful . It took like 42 minutes to finally order something to eat. Just like the first time , the waitress wasn't nice , never smiled, and the manager never came to our table to apologize. However we could tell that they were very friendly with some "regulars" so it seems that they don't like strangers and foreigners , we could notice the bias . Despicable behavior .

I'm not a Midland local, but traveling through, and this joint hit the spot after a long day! Super friendly staff behind the bar, heaps of beers on tap (fresh, good, local stuff), burgers were ACE and plenty of fries/crisps/chips on the side (depending what you choose). Locals are lovely, sit in or outside if you've good weather, up at the bar or at the tables, affordable. You'll leave here happy and full!

I can only vouch for the burgers. If you are in the mood for a hearty savory burger, this is place place to go! Probably not much on the healthy side. My wife tried the turkey burger and she was a fan of it as well. I had the bbq bacon cheeseburger. Comes with your choice of various sides (fries, coleslaw, etc). Buyer beware, it's going to get messy. But that makes it even better. Good prices. Gets pretty busy during lunch, so come early or come after the lunch crowd.

Nice, relaxed atmosphere. Food is priced well and I would describe the menu as "really good bar food." Service has been efficient, food has always come out quick. They have some popular craft beers on tap, and other medium shelf liquor selection for reasonable prices! Highly suggest for a casual bar-goer.

Diamond Jim's is fairly well known in the tri-city area for being a bar, but one bite of their delicious food and you'll quickly realize there's a lot more going on. While they were always a personal favorite for reasonable drink prices and excellent service, I had been there a number of times before I tried the food. I was missing out! The Kentucky Hot Brown is absolutely amazing, and their burgers are far from typical for a bar. Stop in on Mondays and you can grab a burger for just $3!! I haven't tried one of their huge salads yet but they look amazing. Diamond Jim's has quickly evolved from my favorite bar to my favorite restaurant. Keep up the good work! mrfeedback3.wix.com/mrfe…

Atmosphere: 3 stars, typical bar experience Food: 3.5 stars. Four of the five of us ordered the same thing, so..this review isn't going to have a ton of variety when it comes to food... -Ollie burger: this was their featured burger with a "secret sauce" and served in a basket w/ fries. The patty was pretty good, but I didn't really taste the "secret sauce" that much. The waitress described it as a thousand island-based sauce, similar to a Big Mac sauce, but "wayyy better." The portions were ENORMOUS. I didn't finish the burger, nor did I finish the fries :( -Pork BBQ dinner: my coworker got this (I didn't try it)...it looked like average BBQ, didn't seem too special Drinks: 4 stars. Pretty good beer selection. I had the huma-lupa-licious IPA for the first time (not gonna lie, I totally got it because of the name) and really liked it! Service: 4 stars. The waitress was really nice and attentive :) Price: 4 stars. $70 for the five of us, including drinks! Overall: 3.5 stars. For what it is, it's pretty good. I'll probably come back here in the future since it's right across from the H Hotel (where we stay every week).

Short & sweet: an average bar with friendly bartenders. $4 for a vodka cocktail and a regular coke (served with a stemmed cherry). A live band was playing while our group was there, and we also overtook Jim's back space, joining multiple tables together - nobody seemed to have a problem with that, and we were thankful.

Had the black bean burger. It was huge with an excellent taste. We live in Saint Clair or we would order these every week

Good American restaurant. The salads are huge! They were served in 11 inch wide plate and my leftovers still filled an entire container. The food is standard American fare, burgers, salads, sandwiches. We didn't stay for the live entertainment but that they had that on a Thursday night too. Overall, we are adding this place as a place to come back to when we are in Midland.

We love this place, expecially in the summer with the out door seating. We eat here often and everything I have ordered up to this point has been fantastic. I generally go for the half pound burger. But my favorite thing is the rotating beer selection for a good price.

We found ourselves in a new town with one evening to enjoy. Trusted Yelp to find a quaint spot for dinner. It was all that. The previous comments and ratings were right on. So when in Midland Michigan, be sure to go to Diamond Jim's. Mmmmmm

So my wife and I went to Diamond Jim's for lunch to try their lunch buffet. When I met her she was sitting outside with two menus and her drink. I sat there with her, talking about stuff, and waited for the servers to take my drink order for about 5-8 minutes (they came out about 4 times too). Finally I decided to go in and get some food from the buffet. I saw lunch meat that looked like it'd been out for a few hours, some greasy cheese (that sat out too long), a salad bar, and some weird soup that included chili with spaghetti and cream of potato. I know it's hard to run a buffet, but come on. Why bother if you're going to throw most of it away anyway? And I seriously HOPE they threw it all away. I should also add that the inside looked terrible. Every table was dirty. The fly infested bathroom stunk of piss...I can't even imagine how bad the kitchen was. I will definitely be avoiding this place from now on.

Went here because they had KBS on tap, which they opened for the Kentucky Derby party. Our appetizer was just okay: the jalapeño poppers were not eatable without forks and knives because the peppers did not break when we tried to take half bites.

If this place were being rated ONLY against the other Midland restaurants, it would score great. But when Diamond Jim's is rated on its own merit, it's just an average bar and average food, nothing really that special, nothing really that wrong. It's OK and I like going there for the live music . . . but it's not a great culinary destination or trendy spot on par with some larger cities.

Best burgers in Midland! You can tell Diamond Jim's does not serve frozen burger. its fresh, savory and cooked to your liking. the inside of Jim's is a fantastic atmosphere to eat with friends and the food is mind blowing good.

The best part about Diamond Jim's is the beer selection. After sitting down and receiving menus, we waited 20 minutes or longer to finally have our orders taken. After that, the service was fine. The food was ok, not great, but we'll go back for the good beer.

Oh Diamond Jim's, if only I knew you'd existed I would have returned from my long self-imposed exile from Midland sooner. Located at the old home of the chichi 101 Main, I have to say Midland has finally done something right, a main street dive bar. Booze is cheap, happy hours have snacks (when we went it was fried calamari, fried clams, and cocktail shrimp), and Sam (one of the bartenders) is just plain awesome. The space is large and they can open the street-side wall in the warm months which is always welcome. As for drink specialties, Sam makes a great Flaming Dr. Pepper--if you want to know what's in it, you'll have to order one.

My God this was an amazing little "Diamond" to find in Midland. I never even knew it existed!! After a really bad experience at local dive, it was refreshing to happen along Diamond Jim's! I did not notice a sign at all to indicate what the place was even called which I think might not be a good thing. The bartender inside was very happy to allow us to review a menu and I figured what the heck, they have Black Bean Burgers I might as well try it. Since the weather was beautiful we decided to eat outside, I ordered the Black Bean Burger which was only about $5.00 ( I really was not expecting much) and the last minute I changed my mind from fries to Onion Rings. Our server/bartender at the last moment informed me that I made a very good choice. I kind of doubted her because the city I am from in South West Michigan I always thought had the best Onion Rings around. To my surprise when my plate arrived OMG the burger was HUGE!! The onion rings looked so amazing I thought I would take a pic of my plate. As I am taking a pic I guess inside the manager had told her cook that she herself makes the best onion rings....these were the ones that he made and as she walked out of the kitchen she was able to witness me taking a pic of my plate LOL!! She came out to tell me about the conversation with her cook....hahaha, I am not sure how hers are, but his were AMAZING!! We ended up having to get boxes because there was so much food and very reasonably priced! I will definitely be back and I have posted my photo and discussed how amazing the food and the staff were on my facebook!

Happy Hour at Diamond Jim's is always the best. Have a few discount brews, enjoy the free appetizers and let the stress melt off of you after a long week. The setup is kind of narrow so I don't really like going here when it's packed. Great burgers and definitely a place I'd recommend in Midland.

Had dinner with another couple. Service was good. Not much atmosphere. Food was good overall. The lettuce in my salad was brown. I'd agree with other reviews, food hit or miss. More of a bar than a restaurant.

Diamond Jim's is located in downtown midland. It is hard to notice it when walking downtown but it sits quietly on main street close to Peel 'n Pare and it is right opposite to Omeletes and More. Compare to similar restaurants in Midland MI, such as Big E and Oscar, Diamond Jim's food is of much better quality and less generic. In particular their soups taste homemade and unique. Try their clam chowder, chicken tortilla soup, and chili (I have tried all these three soups and definitely can say that they are hearty). They have standard burger selection. I have confirmed that bleu cheese burger has real bleu cheese in it, melted on the burger, not just bleu cheese salad dressing. You don't get that very often in the tri-city area. Even their weekday salad bar was great. The all you can eat soup and salad bar get you the tasty five-star homemade soup that i mentioned above, get you standard salad options (i remembered romaine lettuce and all standard fixings, nothing special though - three stars on salad in the salad bar), fresh fruit (i remembered fresh pineapple and melons which were nice - four stars, and peeled tangerine was sweet), and finally the all you can eat salad bar also comes with sandwich meat and bread so you can make your own sandwich - four stars for options. Definitely worth a try if you haven't been there. Great lunch place for nearby chemical company. i hope Diamond Jim's stays in business.

This place is fine for a beer, but the food is not good. The attempt at a hot brown equated to some deli turkey and toasted wonder bread. Not impressed. I'm probably being a little harsh with one star, but this place is no where near the star rating it currently has.

My wife and I stopped in last week for a quick dinner. We were very happy! We caught the tail end of the free appetizer buffet during happy hour (the hot wings were pretty good) my wife had a steak salad that she loved, I had a very good burger and the drinks were very reasonable. I have been a few times and this place has great food and cocktails. Plus, everyone is so nice. Finally, a place to hang out in Midland, that is not a hotel bar with over priced drinks and kid bartenders that need to just serve my drink and not give me a history lesson of booze.
