You know what they say..."When in Midland"... Just kidding. Here's the breakdown: Walk into food court wondering why you're there for lunch only to realize that you're there because you don't know what else to do and what perfect way to spend your meal time deciding between a few asian restaurants, a taco bell, and some sandwich spots? Then you see a sign that stands out. Food network winner of food court wars. Proceed to wonder, what is food court wars and what exactly won? Proceed to counter. Super friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, enthusiastic staff member greets you and provides recommendations. Turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich with jalapeno chips. BBQ chicken sandwich with ranch chips. Both of these are good, but I'd have to say the turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich is the winner. Quick notes about the sandwich: Avocado is very mayo-ey. Bun is very buttery. Sometimes chips can be over powdered to the point where you cough at every bite but they are still delicious and very much worth it. $6.36 after tax for the sandwich. Fast service. Now you can see why it won the food court wars!

Was kinda dissapointed by this place. I was excited for something new in Midland, especially a place that won a reality TV show. The one veggie option was a bit disappointing and their whole attraction of putting chips on the sandwich doesn't seem beyond anything I can't do myself. The faygo float was gross too. I understand they want to stay local - but at what cost? They should've gone with the suggestion of the hosts of the show - use something other than faygo. Add some other vegetarian options, and maybe I'll try again sometime.

I had watched with interest the "Food Court Wars" show on the "food Network" where Chip n Wich had won out over a Middle Eastern themed restaurant. I was actually quite disappointed, as I am a big fan of Lebanese and Greek cuisine, and "another sandwich shop" just didn't have the same appeal. However, after trying Chip n Wich, I'm a believer. The "unique selling proposal" for this restaurant is that they make homemade potato chips that they put ON your sandwich in addition to alongside it. Ummm...weak. HOWEVER, their chips are really nice (several flavors, all made fresh in the shop), and they actually DO enhance the flavor/texture of the sandwiches...a bit. The best news is that the sandwiches do quite well on their own, thank you - my family enjoyed both the Firecracker Corned Beef and the Jones'en BBQ sandwiches, and both were very flavorful and delicious. I might switch the choice of chips that came with the sandwiches (the BBQ came with quite spicy ranch chipotle chips..a little too hot for my spice-averse son and the Corned Beef came with honey mustard BBQ chips that were a little overwhelmed by the spiciness of the sandwich), but both were very nice out of the ordinary varieties. Drink choices are limited - pretty much Faygo pop (or soda, for those non-Michiganian readers) or bust - but their Faygo floats are very nice with ample vanilla ice cream and the "rest of the can" of pop that didn't fit in the glass so you can make up "round two" all by yourself. Make no mistake - this isn't a five star restaurant. The ambience is "middle America food court" and you order at the counter and carry your tray to a wobbly table. However, for what it is, where it is, and what my expectations were it blew me away. I'll be back!

We tried every sandwich on the menu and they all were delicious!!! The firecracker corned beef was my favorite and it went down so easy with my Faygo red pop! We ended up getting a couple more sandwiches to take back to Detroit :-)

I had a Turkey Avocado Club (TAC) on my visit. The sandwich size was very generous, and the home cooked bacon was a nice touch. The guacamole was a bit bland (diluted with mayo, perhaps?), and I would have preferred less bread/smaller bun. Still, all of the ingredients seemed really fresh and portioned generously. The staff were super nice -- you really felt like you were receiving personal, attentive service, and that is worth a lot in my book. And, my sandwich was ready very quickly. The chips are really great -- thick, crunchy and tasty. I wish they would have used less powder to flavor them, though. Twice the (jalapeno) powder caught in my throat, and caused me to cough. Also, I wonder if they allow substitutions of chip flavors on sandwiches? My guess is they do? Drinks are very limited -- only Faygo soda, water or iced tea (when I stopped by around 1:25pm they were out of iced tea). I would have preferred a Diet Coke... For a food court restaurant, Chip-n-Wich is a great bargain and the freshest option in the place (sorry, Subway). I would definitely eat there again...

I visited here because I saw them on food court wars...I ordered allllll of the sandwiches since it was a good little ride and I must say, I was thoroughly pleased. The turkey avocado was the best because of the added spice of the jalapeño chips. The fireroasted veggie was amazing, especially when you add the avocado spread from the turkey avocado to it! They finished our large order very quickly too.
