We LOVE this place!! We ordered a family sandwich during our vacation and it was delicious! We went back another time during our trip and got ice cream. It was fabulous!! The portions were large and the prices were excellent. We'll be back!!!!!

Nice little place. Wife had the italian sub. Good portion. I had tacos which were not bad. Other member of party had fish taco which was terrible. Service was good. Cash only. I would go back but be careful of what I order.

Their employees making the food really need to wear sanitary gloves. I like the fact that they wear hats but the hair needs to be under the hat not all around it.

A nice alternative to Subway, but be prepared to wait I checked out the Downtown Sandwich Shoppe while on vacation with the family in northern Wisconsin. While there's a lot to like, the experience was far from perfect. Things I liked: * I loved the building where the restaurant is located. It is a century old red brick building with painted tin ceilings across the street from the marina. It's not your run of the mill sub shop. * They serve Cedar Crest ice cream (a personal favorite) in homemade waffle cones. * The cheese curds were a hit with the kids. Lots of cheesy goodness without too much breading. * I really enjoyed the fish taco. Slathered with tartar sauce, it was far from authentic, but it was a generously portioned fish filet, crunchy on the outside and moist and flaky on the inside. Just writing about it has me craving another. Things I didn't: * I've seen better organized Chinese fire drills than how the order counter was operated. The person taking the order seemed confused at times and sure enough, one of the sandwiches was incorrect. The order taker didn't know the prices of the menu items, so he had to look at the board for each item he entered an item into the cash register, making the checkout process painfully slow. * Avoid the lemonade unless you are a die-hard fan of watered down Country Time powdered mix. To their credit, they allowed me to exchange it for another drink. In a setting like this, it would be nice to have lemonade with actual lemon in it. * The soft taco supreme was a pretty pedestrian ground beef taco overwhelmed by your typical Taco Bell-esque toppings. * Things like sticky chairs and tabletops were a disappointment. I didn't see anyone cleaning off the tabletops while we were there and it showed. * The kitchen seemed short staffed. The wait for our order was around 15 minutes for a lunchtime order on a Saturday. Overall verdict: despite some service issues, this is a much better option than a Subway or Cousins. Great setting, great ice cream, and a fish taco to dream on.

As a local I really love this place. Subs are amazing, and the food is great. They are under new ownership and hopefully the new owners read these reviews because they really need to make some changes. Sticky dirty tables are always an occurence. I have never been here and gotten to sit at a clean table. I understand they get really busy, but hire a bus boy to keep the place clean. Employees are always rude. I also have never gotten a nice smiling face to greet us. Always, ''what do you want?" with an attitude, like they hate their job. Would like to go one time and have a clean table and nice employees. I feel like I am burden to ask a question or to order something special. They also only accept cash. Would eat here probably once a week or more if they accepted debit, not just have an atm. I never carry cash and It is a serious inconvenience to get money out just for one place to eat, when everywhere else in town takes credit/debit., Will give this a 5 star rating once they fix their issues, which as reading these reviews, i am not alone on. If you have cash, and get your food to go, and don't mind a rude employee this is the place for you

Haven't been here in years, but they had the Best Taco Ever. And this in a town with no ethnic diversity. At all. Me and my brother would go and get ten when we were hung over. I would bring this taco south of the border and put it up against anything they can serve up. God, I hope they still make those tacos. Cary tried to fed ex me some but it just didn't work out.

Delicious Ice Cream ... Including Mackinaw Island Fudge served right across from the marina. Patrons are rich Chicago yachting kids.

I got a huge scoop of haagen daz quality ice cream for 2 bucks!Unbelievable.Hubby tried their fish taco and was supremely impressed.Definitely a hotspot during the summer months and a stroll down the marina with ice cream in your hand sounds like the perfect end to the day.
