So sorry they closed. But I did find a new great place for breakfast. The Marshall Broadway Grille on Michigan ave. great food and wonderful service.

Smoked ribs were quite good. I think if it was paired with a different bbq sauce then it would be to die for. Brisket wasn't that special. If it had been smoked it would be a lot better. Pulled pork was dry, but a quick tweak in how much sauce its cooked in would make a huge difference. Mac and cheese was good. Beans were okay. Coleslaw was decent as well. The corn muffin was quite good. I would recommend this restaurant.

My family and I have eaten here s few times. The food is good! If it's your first time here you should order the 3 meat platter to taste their grilled meats. My favorite is the beef brisket It's moist and tender. Wasn't crazy about the ribs.....I didn't care for the spicy rub. It tastes like cinnamon or something like that. I do love their deep fried dill pickles and corn bread. In any case if you leave hungry it's your own fault. Oh and in re to the breakfast menu. They could use a lesson in cooking grits. I've had them and they weren't right. I can show them how it's done.

We went here on a Saturday afternoon and got the 3 meat platter with Cole slaw and Mac and cheese. Everything was amazing! The chicken was super moist, and the thin brisket slices were delicious. There was no one else around while we were here, and the server was really nice.

Service was quick. Brisket didn't taste good but the pulled pork and the bbq chicken were good. Chicken was our surprise favorite. Mac and cheese was eh and the beans were good. Beats a chain for a quick lunch.

I've only experienced breakfast at Charlie's, but had a heavenly omelet here recently, a visitor to Marshall. Service was outstanding, ambience casual and friendly. I will visit for lunch next time we are in Marshall. Bravo!

My wife and I went to Charlie's last night after seeing them on the internet. The food was realy very good. My wife had the pulled pork sampler with mac & cheese, potato salad and corn muffin top. I hadd the 3 meat sampler, mac & cheese, slaw and corn muffin top. The sauce was ok. But for the Quality of the food the sauce needed to be a little better. the chicken breast was very tender and moist, the brisket and pork had a very good smoke to it. The decor was what I would expect from a BBQ joint tin celing textured concrete floors. It was a little cool inside (but thats Michigan in December). We did like the glass doors on the walkin cooler behind the service bar. Everything in the cooler looked clean and neatly organized. The location was a little off the beaten path so you need to know where to look to find Charlie's it's 1 block south of the main street in Marshall Mi. just west of the square. The only down side we noticed was that the wait staff seems to need a little more training. Our waitress (Brit I bellive was her name) was very nice and did a great job waiting on us. but the other girl seemed to drag along & shuffled her feet, generaly just hang out. there was plenty to be done even though there was only a handfull of customers. We counted at least 6 tables that needed to be cleared and the surface wiped down when we got there, and they were still that way when we left an hour latter. As former bar / restaraunt owners we enjoy finding new places to eat out. Charlie's is definitly on our list of places to come to for Good Food!

Myself, my husband, 8 year old daughter, and 1 year old daughter ate here for the first time a couple of nights ago after our oldest daughters Spring Sing concert. We arrived around 7:40-7:45pm, and there was a couple of cars in the parking lot. We couldn't see anywhere their hours posted, but we assumed they were open until at least 9pm. We went inside and there was only two other tables seated. We seated ourselves and the waitress came over with menus and took our drink order. The decor in the dining room is minimal, typical BBQ place with a cement floor. We ordered homemade potato chips for an appetizer, which were just okay. They could have used a good dose of salt, but I applaud them for making their own chips. They also offer BBQ chips. My husband and I each ordered the 2 meat Sampler, which comes with your choice of 2 sides, and a cornbread muffin top or flatbread. The meats to choose from were Brisket, Pulled Pork, or Chicken. My husband chose the Chicken and Pulled Pork, with Cole Slaw and Potato Salad for sides with the cornmuffin. I chose the Brisket and Pulled Pork, with Mac & Cheese and Baked Beans, and the cornmuffin. And our daughter had the Pulled Pork Sandwich and Fries from the kids menu. As we were waiting for our food, the other two tables left, and we started realizing the Open sign had been turned off and the waitresses were cleaning up, and counting out the register. We asked what time they closed and she said 8. I apologized, but the waitress assured us we were fine and that they had plenty of work to do. We were not made to feel like we were a problem coming in late, which I really appreciated. We would never have came in if we realized they were closing so soon, but they were very nice and friendly. I double checked around on the way out, and still never saw anywhere their hours posted. The food came after about 20 minutes, and it was delicious for the most part. I loved everything on my plate. I would only suggest that they maybe offer a few different BBQ sauces, as the one that came with our food, in a little plastic cup on the side, was not the best BBQ sauce I've ever had, but certainly not the worst. It would be fun to have a few different variations/flavors to choose from. My daughter loved her sandwich, and the fries were not skinny fries, but steak fries. My husband enjoyed his meal as well, except for the potato salad. I didn't try it, but he did not like it at all. He just said next time he would choose a different side. My biggest complaint, and the reason I took off a star on the rating, is that they do not have a baby changing station in the restroom. That makes for an awkward moment when you have a little one who needs a diaper change. The waitress took two chairs and pushed them together for me in the back corner by the men's room for me to change my daughter. I'm surprised that in the year or two that they've been open this hasn't been more of an issue and something they've looked into correcting. Other than that, the food and service were excellent, and I look forward to going back!
