Followed the suggestions on Yelp and was amazed. This place pops out of nowhere and you don't want to leave. Great variety, excellent quality and friendly service. Also a few gift/antique shops in the area. Perfect lunch spot after the boardwalk and lighthouse.

Great sandwich choices and all 3 that we got were excellent (tuna salad, tally boy, and kid's ham). Yummy bread. Appreciated the good service by friendly staff and the bright interior. Seeing things in UP takes lots of driving -- it was such a nice stop to recharge ourselves!

About a million sandwich options and every one is amazing. The crackers for the soup are fantastic. Get those instead of chips

Perfect spot for lunch. The Georgia Rueben is so delicious! I hope to try every item on the menu. If they have the white chocolate raspberry scones available when you're in, just buy them all.... You'll be thinking about them for days after.

One of the only places to treat yourself to a non-greasy meal. Very friendly staff. Great sandwiches, and coffee! Wait is a bit long but is worth it 100%

Worth a trip from anywhere in the U.S. Short drive from highway. Best sandwich ever. Super nice owners.

What a delightful discovery! Everything is delicious...fresh quality ingredients and incredible bread. Cheerful atmosphere even on gloomy days. Very nice people. The homemade soup comes with in-house seasoned crackers....a nice touch.

We love this place and visit it as often as we can when we are in the UP. The soups are homemade and fantastic and are a great compliment to any of their specialty sandwiches.

Stopped here on the way through the UP. Absolutely amazing! Had a pastrami sandwich and salted Carmel Cake. They make all their own bread. A true gem in the UP. Very reasonable price for how excellent the good was.

What a sweet family run business!! The food was delicious - especially the cakes. Highly recommend the Granny Smith sandwich. Kid friendly! Great staff! Even gave us tourists some suggestions in what to do in the UP.

So it is time again for the annual birdwatching "Spring fling" at whitefish point. So as we crossed the upper Peninsula, we always time of arrival in Manistique to allow for lunch at the upper crust. And we found the restaurant unchanged - and that's a good thing! For reasons unclear, it seems to be harder and harder to find pastrami in the north Midwest. Fortunately, it can still be found as the "Schooner" sandwich. Served "Brooklyn" fashion (with coleslaw on top of the pastrami), the concept seems to have survived the trip from the Carnegie deli. Their soup offerings are invariably filling and warming - and as most days in April and is part of the world could be described as "blustery", this is always welcome. With the filling soup and a filling sandwich, it works to take some cookies to go so you can top up your tank later...

I guess people who live in the U.P. are pretty blase about how beautiful it is up there since they live there 24/7, but one thing reviewers haven't mentioned much is that this cafe has a deck that looks out over the water. Even from inside, you get a nice view. That ambience is part of what kicked this up from a 3-star to a 4-star place for me. It's a little pricy for a soup and sandwich joint, but the quality of the food is good, especially the bread they use for the sandwiches. I tried both the grilled cheese and the tuna melt, and both were very good. The tuna melt has coleslaw on it, which I've never had before, but it was quite good. Others have complained about slow service, but my two companions and I were there during a busy lunch hour and were served very quickly.

Great soup and sandwich place with lovely views of the waterfront.

Would have given them five stars if they hadn't taken 20 minutes to make our two sandwiches. Now to the review. My wife had a club which she loved. I had a Philly Steak with Pastromi instead of steak, and it was fantastic. Sourdough bread was excellent. This is definitely better than the chain restaurants along the highway. Glad we found it.

Found this place during a business trip to Manistique. There aren't many places in the UP that make me want to return as badly as Upper Crust does. The sandwiches are amazing and the selection is vast. Plenty of options for the vegetarians out there if you prefer. Also GREAT soup - I was in town during a pretty nasty snowstorm, and it felt great to look out at the water and eat some great soup from inside this cozy restaurant. Staff is super friendly, there's a bookstore/gift shop set up on one end of the restaurant that makes it feel very homey and inviting. I can't wait until the next time I'm able to travel to or through Manistique so I can stop and eat here. Absolutely a must-try if you're in the area. Also - there are several shops in the surrounding buildings that I think would be open in the summer...making this place even more worth checking out!

The address sometimes won't show up on your GPS. I have seen 375 Traders Point Drive and 375 Traders Bay Drive. This place has very easy parking on both sides of the building. The restaurant is located on the side of the building next to the river and you can either sit inside and look out or sit outside on the deck (there are three tables outside and about 10 tables inside). The reason to go here is the sandwiches. The bread is homemade and the sandwiches are very good and pretty creative. I like the egg salad sandwich, the Granny Smith sandwich, and the Upper Crust Reuben sandwich. Also, the cookies are very, very good. I usually get either a sugar cookie or a snickerdoodle cookie. The hours on Sunday are shorter, I believe that on Sunday they are open 10am-2pm, but other days at least till 5pm. I think they started offering some dinners and later hours. Another reviewer will need to provide some info on that. They also list soup on the menu and I have never gotten that. Pie and cheesecake are also in the dessert case.

What is up with the hours of this place?? Based on the reviews I have tried 3 times to go, once in June and twice the first week of September for lunch or breakfast. I honestly thought it was out of business..... Maybe POST your hours...

Needed a bite to eat while driving through Manistique. They were extremely friendly considering they were closing in 10 minutes and made our sandwiches while the kids looked around the toy store. The sandwiches were good, the staff was friendly and the place was super clean. Our take-out order was packaged nicely for our road trip. I would come back here without question.

Good coffee, good scones. Stopped here for breakfast as its labeled as a deli and bakery, but found only an extensive deli menu. However staff was very accommodating and offered to make a delicious omelette which was not on the menu. The bread they used for toast was great. definitely want to go back and try a sandwich. Great views of the water with both indoor and outdoor seating.

Cute sandwich shop with great service- run by a really nice family who truly care about their customers. Super affordable. I had a turkey and cranberry sandwich with chicken dumpling soup, which was good but heavy! I do wish they had lighter options for sandwiches. The bread is delicious, however, and the ambiance is cozy.

Nice Sandwiches, soup and a beautiful location. If they would put in wine with the deck and the view they would have gotten 5 stars from me!

Deicious deli sandwiches with many unique combinations, this place far exceeds the chain restaurants lining highway 2 through Manistique. As a bonus there is a toy store/bookshop in one area of the restaurant and views of the harbor.
