This is the place to go in Manistique. Service was great and Food was GREAT! The salad bar is awesome. The dressings are House made and just plain great, three kinds of French Yum. Soup is also House made and very good. I had a steak that was very good and my friends had the Whitefish and stated it was Superior. The only bad was they only give you 1 free refill on pop.

We were hesitant to try it after reading the review from May of this year, but decided to brave it anyway. Maybe the offseason (we were here in early October) is the time to go, but our visit was great. The broiled walleye (I added Cajun seasoning) was cooked perfectly, fresh, and tasted great. My wife loved her prime rib (I took her word for it, I have a red meat allergy). The salad bar is nothing special (it's a small-town salad bar, what do you expect?), but they have tomatoes, dilled cucumbers, eggs, croutons, etc., and an ok selection of dressings. I tried some of the chicken soup, again, nothing special, but didn't taste canned. They only have one beer on tap (bud light), but a decent selection of cans and bottles, including some of the Keweenaw Brewery beers. They took my credit card and have a sign in the window that says "we take credit cards." Our waitress was personable and attentive. I can't say anything about the owner as we didn't meet or hear from them. In all, if you are expecting a small town restaurant with great fish and steak, I would highly recommend it. If you want a place with top notch wine service, caviar and hot towels delivered to the table between courses, then you might want to look elsewhere.

It's closed with a for sale sign out front, so, in order to get this review posted, let me point out you shouldn't try to go there

Steak wasn't bad, but the fish was dreadful... soggy and greasy...(Frozen on all but Fish Fry Friday I suspect. (only order the fish on Fridays when the cooking oil is HOT..., salad bar stinks...Soup tastes canned... not even tomatoes for salad???? what is up with that? Bartender couldn't make a drink if her life depended on it... (they make books for this... probably the owner's sister or girlfriend or something). They don't take credit cards (obviously opting for tax free cash). They don't let you split orders... (just grab an extra plate from the salad bar and tell the haughty waitress to blow it our her a**). You bought the food, you should be able to eat it as you like. The senior special is a huge rip off... compare the price with the quantity and then order the regular dish and grab an extra plate from the salad bar for your wife. If it weren't for we retired people, this place would close in a month. The restaurant appeals to those of us who can no longer taste the difference between good and bad food. The owner/chef is a jerk. I have seen him swear at a customer who thought his Saturday sirloin strip was under cooked... you can also hear him yelling in the kitchen at times. Not worth the money or the hassle....Highly un-recommended.

Yum yum yum! The best whitefish and it is fresh! Very friendly staff. Maybe needs a better wine selection though. WILL come again!
