Enjoyed a delicious fried walleye dinner. Fairly quick service. Love the decor; looks like it was done fairly recently. But what cost the fifth star was that you couldn't find anything other than Fox News to show on the big screen? What better way to spoil one's appetite than watching talking hairpieces drool all over themselves. Blech.

The space feels like a lumberjack's lodge inside--pleasant wood walls and comfortable booths. This would be a pleasant place for larger groups, if you're not distracted by the big TV screens everywhere. It's thoughtful of the Bungalow to have a veggie burger option. Though comprised of a standard frozen "Gardenburger", it was served on a huge roll with french fries. The menu is quite varied, and all of the portions are large, but they seem to lean too much on Gordon Food Service products. The upright fridge that is visible in the back had part of a GFS chocolate sheet cake in it, along with pre-made iceberg lettuce salads. Given the price point of many of the Bungalow's dishes, it is a little disappointing to be served pre-made wholesale food.

Came in tonight for my boyfriends birthday. We had Kelly as a waitress and she was very attentive and great! Food came out so quick! And it was very very good! Very impressed.

Stopped in here on a recommendation from staff member at our hotel. The ambiance is awesome, rustic, cozy. The beers looked cold and frosty. (I didn't have any) The food....... I ordered the Prime Rib for $21ish. The plate arrived in a rather Spartan appearance with no garnish. For $21 in a small town, I kinda expected more effort. The meat was cooked to order, and was tender. It was pretty salty though. Whatever they put on it before cooking, kinda made it taste..... Well..... Cheap. They kids meal of chicken and fries was pretty small for $5. 2 small pieces of chicken and about 10 fries. My son said the flavor was good though.

Amazing blue cheese burger with Swiss and ham! Wow! So good! My husband got the French dip and that was savory goodness as well

Been going here for at least 5-8 years and have never had a bad meal yet. The have a great selection of entries, cozy booths and a nice bar area. All of the staff members have been great.

Reviews drove us here, full parking lot @ 8 pm on Sat (mid Aug '14) eve intrigued us, service was great (Jean), owner greeted us on way in and out, food was delicious and plentiful. Sweet BBQ wings were of the best my daughter (and wife) have had. Filet was done to order, garlic mashed excellent. At table: Nachos excellent; NY strip & Mahi Mahi excellent. My wife said, "We'll be back!" A ringing endorsement. I believe the Bungalow Inn is a Manistee staple w/locals and tourists who feel the same way we do. Keep up the good work! Observations: staff seemed happy to work, bar was busy and efficient, clean, saw a MASSIVE hamburger that another couple split (good choice), still busy when we left @ 9:10

We decided to try this restaurant after my husband saw online that they had mussels as an appetizer. Not too many places in northern Michigan that you can get them. They were excellent as was the Pepperjack Crab soup that I had. I ordered the Lake Perch and my husband had Whitefish. They were both very good. The entrees came with potatoes, salad, and garlic bread. The portions were quite large, I took half of mine home. We will definitely be back!

This a very pleasant place. Food is very good along with good selection of beer. Lots of seating capacity with booths and open space with tables that can be arranged to handle larger groups. Staff have always been friendly each time we have been there.

They have the BEST Reuben I have EVER had! If you're a fan of Reubens, you have to have one from the Bungelow! Also, the waitress named Amanda is the BEST waitress you could possible have!

"This is possibly the worst breakfast I've ever had" - My Wife. Not even a ravenous 14 year-old boy could enjoy this food. "Biscuits" like hockey pucks, still in the shape they came out in after being popped out of the tube. Burned eggs. Cheap cheese. Sausage Gravy was old, greasy and tasted nasty. Toast dripping with ladeled on liquid butter. Sub-Maxwell house drek .... The waitress was very good, so, that's something

I really like this place. It's very small town with great food. I went a lot during the NC AA tournament to watch basketball. They have a few TVs and a big screen in the main dining area which made it very convenient and fun. I really enjoyed the prime rib. Although they close kind of early it was still worth it. Definitely a go to.

Get the sweet potato fries!

Good food and value in a clean restaurant. Special favorites are the burgers and New York Strip sandwich. Love the Friday pepper-jack crab soup. Tile and wood surfaces don't absorb sound so if it's busy it gets very loud--hard to carry a conversation.

This place was recommended to me by a friend so I made the journey down to Manistee. I arrived there around 5:30pm on Friday. Place was already busy. I decided to have my dinner at the bar because I was by myself and wanted to see the service in motion. I had my traditional Bloody Mary, while it was good, the Soggy Dollar still has the best. The bartender, Kelly, was super busy....handling all the drink orders, the bar, and patrons eating at the bar and the tables outside of the bar. I was very impressed with how she kept everything moving and taking advantage of any slow time to prepare and do other things. For dinner I ordered the wet beef burrito. This was a massive amount of food. All the ingredients seemed fresh and was an excellent and messy burrito....my only complaint is that it could of used a bit more spice/zing, but then again, that is just my preference. The food was good....the service was even better. I could see all the wait effectively running the service with an excellent attitude. You could tell the employees took pride in their work. I would recommend this place to eat if you find yourself in Manistee. Atmosphere was nice, food good, staff excellent and prices very reasonable.

The steak and hamburgers were really as good as other reviews reported. Our family - a group of fourteen - invaded without reservations and they were very quick to seat us and serve us a great lunch. I had the backyard BBQ burger and it was fantastic with cheese and tasty bacon on a fresh roll.

Staff was kind enough to let us order lunch at 10am. Peel and eat shrimp was great.

I am so not a steak person as a general rule but I had one of the best New York strip steaks ever here. Twice. The first night we came here on our vacation we split a New York strip and the fried lake perch. Both were absolutely stellar. Prices more than reasonable. The pound sized strip was only 18 bucks. Juicy, tender, seasoned nicely and perfectly cooked to medium rare. Served with excellent garlic mashers and garlic toast. The perch has that taste you only get from fresh out of the water on Lake Michigan. It was meaty yet delicate and perfectly coated. The fries were hot and fresh. The salads were just ok but the blue cheese dressing they served was really good on it. The pop came with way too much crushed ice but at least it was not well water flavored. We returned at the end of our trip for lunch as my husband wanted to try one of the highly recommended burgers. I stuck with steak because half wasn't enough for me and I wanted more (they did not have the mashers at lunch though). Good call on my part. The burger was fine but nothing to write home about. I ended up having to fork over the last third of my steak but I made him drool over it a bit first LOL. Waitstaff at night was great, the luncheon waitress was kind of a flake. We also had to make them change the Fox News on the big screen because my husband's brain was imploding. The bartender gave us a suspicious *oh you are freaky liberal look* and offered ESPN but said that's the best we can do. Oh kay. Odd but still easily our fave place in the area. It has also made me go on a steak kick....so now I am kind of a steak person...

Did not expect high quality steak when it's priced at mid 20s but was still pretty disappointed at the rib eye. The meat was not good quality and lacked flavor. Fish fries was not bad though.

Stopped in on the way back home for a quick lunch. Great food, fast & friendly service. Really big bar with TVs so it clearly is a big place for events. They have a great breakfast menu too, great for kids, and entire family.

Took my girlfriends folks here while visiting Manistee (They are locals who never tried the Bungalow). I have to say, we've found a new favorite to visit when we're here. Staff was super attentive despite it being prime-time on Labor Day weekend. Walleye was excellent. Prime rib was excellent. Filet Mignon with bleu cheese, also excellent. Highly recommend this place.

Okay, I don't even really like biscuits and gravy, so what on earth would possess me to order them at a restaurant I've never been to before? I don't know. But what I do know is that the biscuits and gravy were one of the best decisions I made over the weekend. Damn good food. Reasonable prices, great service, nice decor inside and again, damn good food.

Friendly service and good food reasonably priced. The beer selection is decent and the bar's popcorn machine is a nice touch.

Good place for breakfast. Good food and good prices.

The food is usually pretty good. I used to go there every week. But one bad dish and the bad service that went with it has put an end to that. I'm reasonable. I understand mistakes can happen anywhere - even a kitchen. My date ordered the wet burrito. When it arrived, it smelled awful. She took two bites anyway and complained that it was dry and didn't taste fresh. We set it aside, gave the waitress a polite explanation and ordered her a burger. While ordering it, our waitress let us know that we'd still be paying for that burrito. Sure, serve us something you scraped from the bottom of the bucket and force us to pay 9 bucks for it. I paid for everything and we left as soon as her burger arrived after a long wait. She didn't eat it since the waitress made her feel uncomfortable and a bit unwelcome. We won't be back.

We took the whole family out to Bungalow Inn for fish fry, following the Yelpers' advice. (visit date: July 29, 2011) Overall, we were disappointed: 1) fish fry was rather pricey, and NOT all-you-can-eat. 2) fish fry doesn't follow the local custom of offering a salad bar with lettuce-, jello-, and mayonaise-based salads 3) the place was SO LOUD it was very difficult to have a conversation! 4) atmosphere was pleasant enough, but we could have been anywhere. It just didn't feel local! that said... 1) service was prompt, attentive, and very helpful 2) food quality was very good, tasty, and enjoyed by all 3) those ordering the perch fish fry raved about it 4) server was very kind to the kids, adjusting meals as needed If you've gone into town for groceries or to go to K-Mart, this is a good quality place to get a pleasant meal. But it's not cheap, and not worth a special trip.

Went here while visiting my Mom this past weekend for breakfast. Service was amazing and quick, and the food was great, and I don't even generally eat breakfast. . I had eggs, hash browns (which was actually well done like I asked for) and a bagel. Loved the atmosphere and decor. The last time I was at the Bungalow, it was a hole in the wall kinda bar, so the decor now is amazing! Really nice place. Cannot wait to try it for dinner someday. Highly recommend.

This is one of the better places to eat in Manistee. They have a solid menu with a choices for everyone, reasonable prices and fine service. I had a burger which was fine but I could tell that it was a preformed frozen patty so don't expect everything to be fresh and hand-made. Service was a little slow towards the end of the meal as we had to wait for the check but pleasant overall. There are not a lot of good choices in Manistee so this one really stands out.

Excellent food is the thing here. They know how to grill steak! And portions are generous. Also good, though a bit, was the Friday night fish. Overall, a very satisfying experience. Service was good, with just the right amount of attention. From the outside, the place looks a bit fancy. But inside, it's homey and quite casual. No formal attire needed!
(4)Lien L.
The service was friendly and the food was great. We each ordered a hamburger and it was delicious.

Stopped in on July 19th before our fishing charter. We don't know the area, but a friend recommended The Bungalow Inn. First, let me say that the place is spotless. The ladies room may be the cleanest I've ever seen. The restaurant is warm and cheerful. All four of us ordered burgers. They were 1/2 pound each and they mean 1/2 pound! We each had a different burger and we were all delighted with our choice, although my bacon cheeseburger could have used a bit more cheese. EVERYTHING was wonderful. The beer and wine were great. The burgers were all cooked exactly the way we ordered them. They were juicy and beefy and wonderful. The bun was great too, as were the fries. If this place was near our home in Maryland, I would have a huge butt because I would be in there all the time. :o) I'm serious! All that being said, the prices were very reasonable. If you are on a budget, go to The Bungalow Inn. You'll be glad you did. I met the owner on the way out. Nice fellow. Go see these folks and have a nice meal. The service is great too. What's not to love?

The apps are fantastic: fried aspargus and fried cauliflower. Homemade dressings dipping sauces. Good atmosphere and good fish.

Not an adventurous menu. Don't go there for gourmet food, but for solid American fare, it's not bad.
