If I could give less than 1 star, I would. I had a horrible experience at this particular location, one that I share with every person I can! I stopped in for dinner with my three children a while back....a group of teenage boys walked in behind us. We were seated in separate parts of the restaurant...they were seated in back, we were seated in front, right next to the cash register. Two waitresses (one significantly older with short strawberry blondish hair who has been there forever and another younger waitress with dark hair) were ARGUING literally 5 feet from our booth.... Arguing about who was going to service which table. The older woman REFUSED to take table #1 (can't remember the number of the table, so I'm using #1)....she said NO WAY, etc..... Well, while I thought it was extremely unprofessional for them to have this discussion within earshot of customers, I presumed she was talking about the group of teenage boys (I presumed this was because of the reputation younger groups have of tipping poorly).... After literally 10 minutes, we had a waitress come over...the younger girl. This was the first waitress to visit our table since we were seated..... She instantly apologized for the wait.... At the same time I noticed that it was OUR table that they was arguing about (the booths are all numbered visibly)..... I asked what the problem was....and I was told, "I'm so sorry...she just doesn't like kids". Let me say that "I get it"....I am one of the first people to become perturbed when children are allowed to go wild in a restaurant. I think its disrespectful to the rest of the patrons, and as a parent, you should not force everyone else to be exposed to your child's ill behavior....it can make most meals extremely unenjoyable....That being said, my children are very well-behaved children....I don't say that to be biased...they just are....so to hear this come out of the waitresses mouth.....well, it just about sent me over the edge. I left immediately, let the waitress know what I thought of her (after sending the kids to the car), and contacted HQ, as well as the manager of that location. The Manager seemed to dismiss the entire incident, telling me that I must be mistaken because the waitress I am complaining about LOVES kids....and RUNS the children's programs there!! REALLY?! HQ was more receptive, but wanted my address to send me all kinds of free coupons....I wouldn't share it, and told him I wasn't interested in freebies...and just wanted him to know what was going on and that I would NEVER EVER go there again....and would give all of my business to NEW YORK DELI right around the corner. It's been a while since this occurred, but I will never go back....and I only recently started reviewing on Yelp....came across this location, and it was like ripping a scab off a wound! If you have kids, RUN. Go to the deli, or for breakfast take them to Kens at 23 and Van Dyke next to Vivianos.....they treat little people with respect!!

National Coney Island, the name is recognized through out Michigan. Talking to people outside of Michigan they do not have a clue what you are talking about. Former residents of Michigan come back to visit friends and family and often can not leave without stopping at a Coney Island. This is the closest Coney Island to my house and is by far my favorite. It is very well kept clean and everything inside is neat and clean. The service is great and the staff always comes and asks if you need a refill on your beverage. Being open 24 hours is a plus if you are hungry at night and want to grab something to eat. Pros: Great service, great food, clean and well kept, carry out, get a hani :-) Cons: Now is a smoke free restaurant, the cigarette machine is gone =( it was so cool

Never saw this NCI tucked into this busy plaza until today. I was craving a late afternoon hamburger loose & a super bowl of no bean chili Parker, was very quick & friendly taking & fetching my order, plus did a nice job of making the to go bag all inclusive [ plastic ware-napkins crackers] The loose was exactly as I had hoped, steamed fresh bun, plenty of mustard, onions & beef. The Superbowl was indeed SUPER!

Let's be honest if you are reading reviews about national Coney Island on yelp you deserve better food and service. This review is quiet harsh and I wish 0 stars was an option. At 8pm on a Thursday they were unable to serve my meal in a reasonable amount of time. I was lied to about a kitchen backup by some of the dumbest people I have ever had wait a table. The kitchen is partially open and I stated at my food and watched it get cold for 15 min. I walked out at 8:45 PM shame on me for waiting that long.

Carry out order is wrong 95% of the time. Always check your order before leaving, otherwise you will be driving back to get your missing items.

Let me start by saying I love the NCI but this location is not very good. They tend to over cook everything! This time chicken strips on Hani were so bad I could hardly eat them.

NOM NOM NOM!!! That is the noise I was making when I went here. I love Coney Islands. Why? Because they are cheap. No really, I'm broke and I am all about a good deal. I happened to go on a Wednesday night, at least I'm pretty sure it was a Wednesday. I realized I was in luck. Why you ask? I shall tell you. HOT DOGS WERE $.99!!!! Oh man was I geeked! When I got my bill for $3.95 for my hot dog and cheese fries I thought about ordering another one just because it was cheap. The prices are really good for the food. The food is pretty good for a Coney Island. They also accept credit cards which I was SUPREMELY grateful for. I hate how a lot of the Coneys around here are cash only. Really people, who carries presidential flashcards around anymore? I don't! But that probably has more to do with the fact that more of my money ends up smelling Spring Rain or Lavender fresh because I forget where I put it. I would say this is the perfect place to go if you are looking to go out with a large group of friends to just chat and chill out.
