Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Had 12", slightly thin crust but excellent flavor. Mozzarella rix sticks, best cheesebread we have ever had.

This is one of Ludington's best-kept secrets and the BEST pizza in the area. The seating area is very limited, so call ahead and make a reservation (you can place your order then). Come hungry. Love the owner and his speedy, polite staff. Just wish they'd ban smoking. Then it would be sheer pizza heaven!

Got take out. Was told by my inlaws that the preview experience was because they incorrectly ordered thin crust. If you order the medium crust, everything is good. The amount of topings were ridiculous. We had a super pizza. If I had some pizza dough, I could have made a whole other pizza with the amount of meat they put on top.

Best pizza & cheese bread I have ever had. Crust was thiner than expected but I like thin crust. Sauce & toppings were perfect. Mozzarella sticks were the best. Staff was really great, very helpful & polite.

We had a pizza delivered last night to the condo we're staying at about ten minutes away from Chuck Wagon. I found Chuck Wagon doing a Yelp! search, and based on the reviews, we decided to give it a go. The delivery man brought our pizza in 30 minutes, and pulled up curbside so we could run down to the first floor and meet him. He was friendly, and funny. As for the pizza, we both agreed this might be the best pizza we've ever had. Loved the thinner but not too thin crust and homemade sauce. And there was an abundance of toppings! See the photo. We ordered artichoke, black olives, onion, green pepper, and mushroom. We opened up the wrapping and couldn't believe how much toppings were on the pizza. Quite a bit. We really enjoyed the pizza and hope you do, too.

My family and I were here earlier today at 4:20 p.m. and sat at the table in the middle. I thought the pizza crust was as hard as cardboard and I didn't think Kassie was very friendly. She refilled everyone's beverages at least twice and seemed to purposely avoid giving me any refills of water. I wasn't impressed and thought the customer service would be better and friendlier.

We walked in on a Thursday evening and the place was packed. That's always a good sign. Call ahead to place your order or make a reservation as they were very busy. Being pizza snobs from Chicago, it should say a bit about a place if we dig it. Man was our pizza LOADED with toppings. I mean it was piled two inches and it was delicious. Pizza had a thin crispy crust (we may have liked it even more if it was in there a bit longer but then again I also like my Belgian waffles a bit on the crunchy side so to each their own. We'll probably request it next time we're in town) We also enjoyed the mozzarella sticks. What we love is the owner made it a point to check in with us to make sure we were satisfied. You could tell he's a hard working man who loves what he does. Everyone in the kitchen works well together and hustles to get their job done. Stop by, you won't be disappointed.

This place deserves more reviews. The pizza crust is great, chewy with an outside crunch. The toppings are really good quality and just piled on. Honestly, I've never had so many toppings. And the sauce. Oh man. The sauce is really really good. My wife and I travel a lot and eat all over the country and I just love the sauce here. I licked it out of the bowl. The folks are very nice. I was handlin my screaming kid and they offered to walk out my pizza and put it in my car. Just good folks.

OH MAN!!! This pizza is loaded LOADED with QUALITY ingredients. The 16 inch pizza was so heavy I strained my arm back to the hotel room! Seriously, I am from Chicagoland. This pizza was very good. I found myself savoring the pizza and only limited myself to three slices. I WILL be taking the rest home so my parents can enjoy it too! I could tell from first bite this was a good pizza. My hats off to the owner. He knows his pizza!

Awesome pizza! Tough to get a table on a Saturday, but found out you can call ahead and reserve them. We got a Large Pepperoni and a large deluxe and cheesy bread. Just Amazing!!! The crust is incredible and the toppings are plentiful. I recommend. Two thumbs up.
(5)Danielle M.
We ordered Rix bread (cheesy bread) and a specialty pizza. They brought out the cheesy bread first and it was AWESOME! Seriously you have to try it! We had ordered a substitution of no ham but add bacon on the pizza and they messed it up. The pizza came out with no bacon and extra ham. I didn't say anything and just ate it. It was really good! They put a ton of ingredients on it. If I ever get back to this part of town I'm def coming here!
(5)Sarah S.
Great place! Small, not a lot of seats. Waitstaff was quick and very courteous. Awesome sandwiches breadsticks and pizza!!! I'll be back for sure!!

Great pizza and they have a cream ale on tap from some local guy named Andy Thomas. Dear lord this may be one of the top five beers I've ever had. Incredible local gem, we walked in at opening time and there was only one table that wasn't reserved. Call ahead, get a beer and thank me later...

We wish we could give 10 stars! Hands-down the greatest pizza we have ever had in our entire lives. We do not come to Ludington without making sure we have the meat lovers pizza from chuckwagon!

While on vacation near Silver Lake, we decided to look for a good pizza place. There aren't too many options nearby, so we were relying on Yelp reviews to give us some options. After checking out the reviews, we decided to try Chuck Wagon. It was about a 35 minute drive, but well worth it! It was pretty busy, but we were fortunate to get a table (we arrived about 8pm on a Thursday evening, trying to avoid a rush). We went with a family size order of the mozzarella bread sticks...not to be confused with fried mozzarella sticks. The breadsticks come in the shape of a pizza, topped with melted mozzarella and garlic along with sides of pizza sauce and ranch dressing for dipping. They were awesome! For the pizza, we ordered a 16" half with pepperoni and the other with pepperoni, sausage and green pepper. The pizza was fantastic, the amount of sauce was perfect, and the toppings were plentiful - and filled the pizza to the edge (not the typical inch or so of bare crust around the edge). We loved the pizza; our family of four wasn't able to finish it, so we were able to bring a few pieces of the goodness back to our cabin for leftovers. Would definitely go here again if we're in the area.

Came in here for dinner one night on our recent trip out to Ludington, and it was the most enjoyable dinner of the trip. Seems like most people took their order to go, but there are a few scattered tables for those dining in. Just be ready to embrace the heat from the open kitchen. An absolutely fantastic feature is that you can call ahead to place your order while you reserve a table. Thanks to this, we walked in, sat down, ordered a beer and the pizza came a minute later. I stayed simple, with bacon and onions. The toppings, as advertised, are numerous. Sauce was awesome. Crust was slightly dense, and an unusual feel I haven't before felt in my pizza crust. That being said, the enthusiasm from the owner on down is evident here and the taste rang through. I'll certainly be back on the next stop off in the area.

The owner came into my place of work. Attempted to intimidate me , called me a liar for being business partner then proceeded to threaten me about talking to my manger .... Because of a review I did on his business about a year ago. I may have forgotten the situation... But I will never ever forget the way I feel. I would never step one foot in that door. So from what I learned is a person cannot develop but when not happy at his stars ... He will find you and threaten you.

This place has good pizza, but not the best dine-in customer consideration. When we went to dine in, we arrived at 4:20. They had just opened at 4:00 and we needed a table for 7 people. They had 3 open tables but one had a "reserved sign". They told us we couldn't get a table until 8pm unless we split up our party, which we decided to do. While we sat there and ate, we watched 4 parties come in and be turned away for business while they were putting reserved signs on all the other tables after people were leaving. This left me with a very negative impression on how they run their business. The one table that was reserved when we got there, stayed reserved the entire hour we were there with no party showing up to fill that table. It was directly next to where half of us were sitting, and we felt we could've sat with our family if they not reserved it that far in advance. I felt bad for people being turned away when the restaurant was so small already and they were not allowing people to use the tables that were vacant. Also, don't order the bread sticks unless you like them dry, crunchy, and hollow.
(3)Rebecca L.
The best pizza in Ludington! It is thinner crust and is piled high with toppings, made brick-oven style. The mozzarella/bread sticks are basically a sauce-less cheese pizza and are delicious (especially with some ranch)! Their sandwiches are really good too but the big draw is the pizza. They offer a small selection of beer, wine, and soft drinks. The restaurant is very small and can get very busy... Call ahead for a reservation or order take out or delivery. Getting a table can be difficult, especially in the summer. A popular local thing to do is to grab a pie and go down to Stearns Park to enjoy it.

We ordered take-out since the restaurant is busy on weekend nights, veggie pizza was delicious. Customer service was good.

You don't have to be a haughty Chicago pizza snob to love the amazing pizza at Chuck Wagon! Ludingtonites (is that like Luddites?), many of which are financially comfortable SE Michigan cottage owners, have the last laugh as they make $$$ off of Chicago lake tourists every summer and know the value of a great cocktail (multiple locations in Ludington), fun Parrothead club (Lakeshore of Ludington) and fried fish (Bortell's). World class pizza is here at Chuck Wagon. Much more of a New York slice style (the way pizza is supposed to be) but with ample toppings and fun, family atmosphere in the open kitchen where you can watch them hand-toss the homemade dough. Good food 'up north?' If 'up north' Michigan is good enough for Iron Chef Mario Batali (he has a home near Traverse City) it's obviously good enough for the countless urban chefs and foodies who either were here already or came to this fabulous area near Lake Michigan to make their creations without the crazy urban landscape. Explore! Chuck Wagon is the tip of the amazing food landscape here!

Take it from a guy who enjoys the best pizza in the USA (Chicago has it, period). Chuck Wagon is the REAL DEAL. We would never have expected great pizza from a little place in a little town up north in Michigan. We saw the reviews and figured they were by a bunch of sheltered Ludingtonites who only had Pizza Hut and Little Caesar's Pizza to compare it to. We were wrong. We stopped by on Friday evening to a packed house. The customers' pizzas looked outstanding. We ordered mozzarella cheese sticks...wow. Just enough garlic, the cheese was perfect, and who knew? It tasted GREAT in ranch dipping sauce - not as much in the house marinara. Then the pizza came. 16" cheese, black olive, and artichoke. Sweet baby Jesus, I have to say that this was so good that for a while I forgot I was in the middle of nowhere in Michigan, across the street from a huge cemetery, with no other businesses around. Felt like a festive pizzeria in Chicago. The employees and owner are great. We left in disbelief, and with a few slices to eat for lunch the next day. If you like toppings, you cannot be disappointed here. Trust me, I'm from Chicago!! This place is a gem!

By far the best place to eat in Ludington and some of the best pizza around! We typically stop by this place every time we are in Ludington. We get the delux pizza which has more pork on it than most hearts can handle. Just a deliscious pie that I'd recommend to anyone visiting the area. I do recommend takeout though, as the dining area is really small.
(5)Nathan P.
Five stars seems a bit excessive for a place that dishes out pizza pies, but the Chuck Wagon is quite the spot. We picked up a Super Pizza (sold on the colorful name, obviously) and were pleasantly surprised by the loaded toppings and perfectly cooked crust. Do yourself a favor - if you're in the area, don't miss out!
(5)D B.
What a wonderful place!! Not only is the pizza sensational, but the service is ALWAYS friendly and quick!! BEST pizza place within a 500 square mile area....Yes I said 500 miles.......
(5)John T.
This place has been there forever! Food is amazing so come hungry. The super was my favorite... topped off with a pint of Bass Ale. YUM
(5)Emma R.
Delish! We ordered for delivery while staying at our hotel. The crust is crispy and just the right amount of cheese. The pizza was really good with a good balance of toppings to crust. We would definitely order again!
(5)Andrew M.
This is about the best pizza I have had. We ordered half toppings after seeing customers who were already enjoying their pies. If you love toppings go all in but I like my cheese cooked up the right way and in order for that to happen we needed less of a good thing. None the less the owner is fantastic - friendly and has a real passion for what he does. Service was great. This will be a staple in Ludington!

This is a must eat every time I'm back in Ludington. I just arrived back from Hawaii and Chuck Wagon was my first thought for having dinner that night. Could it have been because I was wearing a Chuck Wagon shirt? Maybe. But this was on my "going home bucket list" regardless. Rick cooks up the best pizzas in the state - and my favorite from around the world. If you love toppings, just go ahead and grab a Super Pizza and just enjoy the heck out of the piled high mushrooms, ham, sausage, pepperoni, and cheesy goodness. Also highly recommend picking up a family order of Rix Stix. You cannot stop eating them once you start. If dining in isn't your thing I usually just call up and take it home, to the park, the beach, or wherever.

I grew up in Ludville and have lived pretty much all over the states. I have tasted all kinds of pizza...deep dish in Chicago, BBQ in the south, thin crust in NYC, San Fran vegan, etc etc etc. In the end there is only one that stands on top in all categories...Chuckwagon. What is it? well, it's everything! It's the all terrain vehicle of pies. Massive heaps of toppings, the perfect crust...both crisp and doughy. It is literally the perfect pie, and it comes from the magical town I grew up in. Chuckwagon don't ya go a changin', ever.

We went here for dinner after seeing positive reviews on Yelp. We came in on a Friday evening, it was very busy but we got a table after a waitress aknowledged our presence. The restaurant is very simple in its decor, but reasonably clean. We ordered a small order of mozzarella bread sticks and a 12 inch pizza with sausage, pepperoni, onions, mushrooms, and green olives. The bread sticks were very cheesy and came with ranch (okay) and their homemade sauce (excellent!). The breadsticks were okay overall. The pizza was loaded with toppings, right up to the edge of the crust. Lindsey was a fan of this, Grisha less so. Overall, a solid choice if you are in the mood for pizza and beer.

This place is good. Especially for this area. I have to remove on star because I wish they used fresh mushrooms instead of canned. Staff super nice. Owner and daughter in the kitchen making pizzas. Owner waved to people and made sure everything was good. Will return again but no mushrooms next time.
(4)Julie L.
Best pizza bar none, the subs are also quite excellent. It'always hard to decide which to order. Hard to eat other pizza once you've been here.
(5)Lonnie G.
One word: Overrated. The people of ludington act as if this is theeee only good pizza around. They act just as bad as us Californian's with our IN n Out burger's. Mancino's is where its at.
(2)Barbara H.
We have been coming here for over 20 years. Great pizza as good as it gets. Not too thin, not too thick and loaded with toppings. We always get a pizza with capicola, not easy to find anywhere let alone in small town Ludington. The summer months call ahead or you will be taking it to go.. This place is small and crazy busy! The owners make you feel like you're at home. They seem to know everyone who frequents this restaurant.. Just a warm, cozy place with great simple food..Sometimes that's enough!
(5)Whitney F.
This is a hometown favorite and hands down the best pizza I've ever had. The crust is homemade and hand stretched, the texture is like no other. Don't think you can just pick something off either, there are enough toppings for two pizzas.
(5)Phil S.
Chuck Wagon is awesome. When my brother is in town he orders a pizza here like every night for a midnight snack. Their pizza is the best in town. Their ham especially is really a highlight. They don't skimp on the toppings which is great for a pizza place. We used to get their grinder's too, I haven't for a few years now, but last I had them they were pretty tasty too. If it's your first time, get something with ham. The ham is awesome.
