great place for Chipolte type food. Service is good and the food specials are great. Some live music. I can get food served from the Sister bar next door or Michigan beer brought over from the Mitten. Not to be missed when coming through Ludungton

We ended up here because the Mitten was packed and we were pleasantly surprised! A HUGE wall of whiskey greeted us! And where else can one find Schlitz and Old Style on tap?! I ordered one of the sammies, the Holy Guacamole and it was delicious!! My husband had the Cuban and he enjoyed his as well. It was hard to decide because I really wanted to try one of the varieties of Mac and cheese! This is a great place! We will be back!

So you're visiting Ludington and wondering, "where's the cool local brew pub with great food?" Here it is. Great service, great local MI beer selection, and great food choices. Had a real nice salad and some homemade pulled pork Mac and cheese, can't beat it! Sandwich selection and apps looked good, although we didn't order any. Would definitely visit again if we ever end up In Ludington.

Big selection of whiskeys, priced by the half-ounce. Small portions of OK food, moderately priced. Great concept for a place, but only half-well executed. Tip - buy your beer in the room next door (The Mitten Bar, which has incredible beers) and eat their free popcorn. Slip through the hole in the wall and get a shot here, then go back to the beer room. Grab a bigger bite to eat at the Italian place a door down where the food is better. Edit: A few other reviews have people thinking this place's food is like Chipotle-these people must not have ever been to a Chipotle, or eaten or seen the food at a Chipotle; Chipotle's food is much better (and faster) - this is more like someone trying to mimic Chipotle, but badly, and with smaller portions, presented nicely. For example, the hottest hot sauce they have is Siracha, which is pretty mild for a "hot" sauce. I'm not defending Chipotle's food in any way, but this place is definitely not as good as a Chipotle for food, but it is certainly a bit better than eating microwaved burritos or Taco Bell would be.

Great little stop in Ludington! My brother and I happened upon this place before taking the S.S. Badger back to Wisconsin. I was expecting soups and sandwiches based on the name, but they serve Mexican-type food. It's kind of like Chipotle in the set up: pick the base, the meat, the toppings. Chips and guacamole were provided. My only complaint is that the guacamole had too much onion. Otherwise, the food was excellent! Service was good as well. If I lived in town, I'd be back.

Good drinks with terrible service. Ordered two simple drinks and the bartender made and served one drink, proceeded serving another table food and drinks, then finally returning to finish our other drink and serving it. Very short with us the few times we were there. Not impressed, won't be returning.

Whiskey! A must stop for the whiskey/scotch enthusiast, they offer their product is 2oz/1oz/0.5oz tastings. All and all a great way to sample whiskey. Their menu is no miss either. Offering a variety of meals based in part on the chipotle model, making it a great lunch spot. Maybe not so much for dinner.

They have an excellent selection of whiskey and scotch here! I was not expecting to find a scotch jackpot in Ludington, but here it is. I will definitely be returning whenever I am in the area again.

This place is phenomenal!!!! Local, farm fresh and all organic. They smoke their own meats and they are crazy good. Great laid back vibe, drink specials during the NFL games and incredibly helpful wait staff. But truly the meat is what it's all about!!! The brisket is out of this world. Way to go Barley & Rye... Way to go!

Love Barley & Rye. The whiskey collection is expansive and I feel good about the food I eat here. Quality, clean eating with grass fed meats and fresh veggies, salsa, queso and guacamole. Their menu includes chipotle/Qdoba style Mexican and they recently expanded it to include a variety of Mac & Cheeses and amazing sandwiches piled high with in house smoked meats from the same grass fed supplier.

Had a couple awesome meals and some great beer here while visiting Ludington. The food was excellent and the decor and atmosphere were wonderful. If you are in Ludington I would recommend you stop in for lunch or dinner, you will not be disappointed!

Wow what a nice place for a bite to eat and a beer. Tacos, burritos and salads all made to order. Friendly and attentive staff. Will be coming back.

Finally made it to this place and was blown away. The food was excellent, even if the selection was limited. Very trendy without feeling pretentious. The bartender was extremely friendly and made sure my friend and I were taken care of. My biggest regret was dropping my left over nachos on the floor when I got home. Definitely going back for more of those.

We sat on the back patio. Very very fresh food! We loved our meals. Had a burrito and bowl. Chicken and brisket were full of flavor. Loved the guacamole made fresh. Nice selection of drinks. A great place to stop in ludington. We loved our meal! Check it out.

Barley and Rye is very trendy. There's some good options for beer, the decor is great, and the business is very clean. However, the night I went, they blasted Top 40 radio music which didn't fit the look and feel of the place and made it very difficult to have a conversation. I really wish they would be more conscious of that.
