Amazing food and service! Tom yum soup was great - nice n fiery! Honor of the queen was probably one of the best dishes I've had - it had a nice tofu and two meats on a sizzler platter along with lots of veggies in a very nice sauce.

Feeling bad giving a 2 star but the food was really bad. We ordered a feast for two on a Saturday night. Got seated right away, had decent service but the food was just so bad! We started with spring rolls (nothing special) and their homemade broth Wonton soup (way too salty with very few wontons). We then shared red curry with chicken and matsuman. Both were supposed to be mild but we're pretty spicy. Again nothing even remotely special. I wish I would've gone to Little Thai place in downtown Plymouth instead. Much better. The worst part about this meal was how it made us feel that night and price we paid with upset stomachs the next day. I don't think the food was bad but something about it just did not agree with us. So strange since that usually never happens to us with Thai food. A bit of a Valentine's Day bummer.

I don't go off the grid too much when I order Thai food. I ordered pad Thai medium with chicken. Flavor overall was fresh and definitely enough for two people to share. It was definitely fast and friendly service and I would order from there again.

I have eaten here twice, the food I've tried was good, I loved the fried rice. I just have a comment, there were some really annoying small flies around my table, could not get rid of them, made my lunch !

I'm happy that I have found a good place for Thai take out around the area. That being said, this will only apply for the take out portion of the restaurant. I do plan on visiting Thai Basil to have some food at the actual restaurant. We have sampled a few of the dishes, and like any Thai place, there are a lot of staples that people go for. Pad Thai, Drunken Noodle, etc. And those are the ones that they judge things after. I have ordered from here a handful of times now, and ever meal that I have ordered has been pretty tasty. Using a sweeter brown sauce for their Pad Sew Ew, and also providing a great tasting fried rice combination plate. The curry noodle has been a little lacking and has swayed my wife from ordering it as it is her usual 'go to dish' for Thai, however this place didn't fit the bill for that. And then the actual pricing for their take out... $11 for a take out dinner? I was surprised tonight when our meal for 2 dishes and spring rolls came up to nearly $30. I would love to say that the quality of the meal, or the portion sizes help to offset it all... but... not so much. I'm trying to feel better about this place... but I'm afraid its a little rough around the edges for me.

I've been to this place a few times, and every time it's been different. The last time I got take out for my husband and I, he complained his pad Thai was dry and bland. I tried it and it was exactly that. Perhaps the cook didn't put much in it? The red curry with beef was good, but was overloaded with bamboo. Would have given a better rating if all my visits were consistent.

I have fond memories of this restaurant when we would come here for lunch, sitting at the round banquette towards the back. It is comforting that some places remain the same, including the menu at this restaurant. On a recent trip for dinner, I ordered the Crab Rangoon to start. I liked the crispiness of the rangoons, but found that the filling was a bit off-balanced for my tastes as it leaned a bit more towards the cream cheese than the crab. The papaya salad, however, was delicious. Cold, julienned strips of papaya and carrots were tossed in a light Asian dressing and topped with chopped peanuts. While you can select tofu with the dish, I had the shrimp. It was refreshing and flavorful on its own and did not require the iceberg lettuce or the strips of red pepper that accompanied the papaya. I loved the Pineapple Curry with the sizable portion of mixed seafood. The waitress warned me about the level of spiciness so I was a bit concerned; the large bowl of curry was perfectly seasoned and flavorful. The mixed seafood included large scallops, shrimp, imitation crab (I think), and cuttlefish. I was impressed by the variety and portion size. The curry included chunks of pineapple and julienned strips of red and green pepper. I cannot emphasize how much I enjoyed this dish. The restaurant was only partially filled on a Friday evening but take-out seemed brisk. Service was friendly and helpful.

I love the food here. Great service. My daughter who is the pickiest eater will actually eat the soup here. I get the pad khing and it is pretty tasty. Large portions. The only reason for four stars is the restaurant when you walk in has a musty smell to it. Also, it is on the pricier side for Thai food.
(4)William R.
I got the yellow chicken curry HOT.. And it was. The food was ready exactly when they said it would be. Food was hot and tasty. I give it fours stars because who would give you a bag a take out with NO UTENSILS.
(4)Saagar U.
Went there on a Tuesday for 1/2 off sushi, and liked the presentation of the sushi. They shaped the wasabi in my plate like a snowman, and for my friend it was a swan. The sushi itself tasted pretty good as well, however the edamame left me wanting more. The service was very good, regular refills of my water and also waiting patiently while I sat waiting for my friend to join me.
(4)Kevin K.
I can only comment on take out orders as I haven't had a sit down meal there yet but so far I've been pretty impressed. I've tried the pineapple fried rice and that was really fantastic- sweet chunks of pineapple with raisins and fresh veggies with the meat of your choice. The flavor was good as was the consistency. A little on the greasy side but not too bad. Also tried the drunken noodle which was also good but not quite on par with the fried rice. Portions are HUGE (ie 2 normal people portions/dish and with prices in the ~$10 range for each dish, seems like a reasonable value. Even though I'm usually a little leery of places that do multiple asian cuisines (ie thai, japanese, chinese) like thai basil kinda does, so far the Thai is some of the better around.
(4)Stephanie W.
Great great great food. Fresh ingredients. Can clearly tell its a scratch kitchen. I would have given 5 stars but the last few times our take out order was incorrect. That was annoying for us as when we take out we are usually in a hurry. It usually doesn't happen so don't let that discourage you. Best Thai around.
(4)Lorraine C.
All I have to say about this place is the food is acceptable , but the gnats are so overwhelming you'd think you were in a jungle. Everyone swinging their hands around and clapping. Trust me it was only for self preservation and to keep the bugs out of your food. Come on people, clean up your kitchen!
(2)Roger F.
We have been ordering take out at Thai Basil for years and have always been satisfied with the quality of the food.
(4)Thomas L.
Awesome is all need to know. Sushi was fresh and amazingly tasty. Can't wait to get back here especially on a Monday where they have half price sushi.
(5)Kellie K.
I wanted to love this place. Close to home. Thai food. Endearing decor. Good things. This was the worst Thai food I've ever had. I ordered the veggie Curry Noodle. It came on what looked like ramen noodles and was so bad I stopped after a few bites. Two stars because I'm a sucker for vinyl booths.
(2)Kaartik J.
Everything about this dine in was great. Our server Tanya was extremely friendly and acted very quickly. Food came out soon and tasted outstanding, as usual; you can't go wrong with the Thai fried rice. We've been here quite often and continue to find reasons to come back. Definitely will be coming again soon too
(5)Sherri P.
I tried the Fried rice again and it was fabulous! I think since I ordered it with light eggs made it better. We haven't had a problem getting all of our order anymore. Really good!
(5)Amy R.
One of my all-time favorite Thai restaurants in Michigan. I love to get the pad see ew there. On this last trip, I ordered the same, and my husband ordered the basil (Thai?) fried rice. Both were fantastic, spice level was as expected, and portions were large. I would recommend any of the noodle dishes or fried rices, but have not really had their curry. I have never had to wait for a table here, and service is always prompt and friendly.
(4)Terrence C.
This place is very cool and very large dining area as well as a very large Thai menu. The food is great and the portions are well sized, I especially like their curry dishes.
(4)Sarah H.
I usually get tom yum soup and red curry vegetable with chicken. I have dined in, but usually get carry out. The food is decent, as are the portions. The staff is friendly and the place is clean.
(3)Sarah G.
Very good thai! That pad Thai is my favorite. Huge portions too. Great service and very quick. On Mondays they have half off sushi. The drinks are also very good and appetizers
(4)Katie M.
Thai Basil is one of at least 3 Thai restaurantswithin in about 3 miles of eachother, We've been going here for years. This is one of the few thai/chinese places that we find ourselves dining in at, mostly due to their sushi bar. The sushi isn't like the ultimate sushi or anything, but if you have a craving, hey, its still pretty good basic sushi. I've always gotten the Pad Thai. Yes I realize this is boring. But its soooo good. I recently expanded my horizons and got the Veggie Curry on their lunch menu and I was so impressed. It fed me for 2 meals. I ordered medium and it was just the perfect amount of spicy! Delicous blend of coconut milk and curry sauce, veggies were still crisp and fresh. Will def order again!
(4)Dipti R.
We went here for a celebration. The food was amazing. every dish we ordered was great. The ambience is good too. I think the place was under construction. They have opened in Novi and I liked their ambience better.
(4)Taryn M.
I'm in the Livonia area pretty frequently for work, and I really like this place for takeout. The curry is very good and I also enjoy their pad thai. For appetizers I have gotten the crab rangoon and spring rolls, both very standard and also delicious (can't go wrong with something deep fried, right?). Service at the hostess stand has always been quick and efficient. I'll definitely continue to come here for my Thai fix on the road.
(4)Neil T.
One of the best Thai food I've had and I'm from California. Ordered the sushi, pad thai, and hot and sour soup - all tasted just right. I'm surprised this place isn't more popular.
(4)Alan T.
I had the Curry Noodle and my wife had the Thai fried rice, both were excellent. The portions were big, I think we could have split the fried rice and an appetizer as a full meal!
(5)S E.
Almost perfect red curry sauce a bit too thick otherwise perfect. The veggies cooked perfectly. We also had the tomkha. soup 5*. Perfectly cooked mushrooms and thinly sliced red onions. We asked for tofu with it. tofu was very supple and tasty.
(4)Amber D.
I love Thai Basil. The Pad Thai is great. I like it medium spicy with tofu. The drunken noodle is also good. I usually get the spicy tuna roll as an appetizer. They have Saporro beer as well.
(5)Debbie L.
The service was SO BAD that my sister and I didn't have the chance to try their food! We were seated at our table and sat there with our water and menus. More people came in to be seated. Right next to us, a large party was seated around 15 or 20 mins AFTER us. FINALLY the Server took our order. A few minutes later, she took the order from the large party. 30+ minutes more, our Server came out only to give the large table next to us their order!!! ALL WE ORDERED WAS RICE with TOFU!!! We asked the Server where was our rice... She said she was going to check and never returned!!! FINALLY, we saw her and STILL NO FOOD. We walked out and complained to the Owner. She did nothing!!!

I met a friend for lunch here this week. I haven't had Thai in awhile, so I was excited to try a new place. Thai Cafe in Plymouth has set the bar pretty high for comparison. The restaurant was pretty big! It wasn't crowded at all during lunch time. It's clean and nicely decorated. Our waitress was nice & attentive. She served us a chicken rice soup (not sure what it's called). According to my friend, they don't always serve the same soup with meals. It was sort of weird. The soup was just a broth, with chicken, rice and some sliced green onion. There was very little flavor to it. I could have done without it. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and my friend ordered Pad Cashew Chicken, both medium spice. It came out really fast! The Pad Thai was decent and the spice level was just right for me. My only complaint about the dish is that it was very oily. I tried my friend's dish, which was really good. I'm sure I'll be back to meet my friend for lunch in the future. I will definitely try other items, but I'll probably pass on the Pad Thai.
(3)Kristin H.
This is only one of 2 thai restaurants I have tried in my life, but it was always yummy! The chicken pad thai and pad se ew (spelling?) was great. If you order carry out for lunch you also get some broth-like soup, which isn't bad; mostly a veggie, cucumber-like flavor. One thing they could improve on is carry out prep, the soup spilled in my car when the lid wasn't on properly! Not a deal breaker though, I will continue to go back until I find better.
(4)Evie B.
Pad Thai with Shrimp as good as last time BUT SO LACKING IN SHRIMP! There were maybe 6 small shrimp in this HUGE HUGE serving of noodles. Not worth the $13 charge. Not only were there few shrimp they were tiny. They use to have these big, sweet shrimp (meaty), now they seem like the frozen type that are thawed and thrown in at the end. :( No flavor to them...taking this dish off my list (at least for here) Hubs had the same thing and same result. :( We also had an order of chili chicken fried rice. excellent flavor, cooked to perfection, BUT again they skimp on the meat! For $10 I had a HUUUUUUUUG serving of rice and lil bits of chicken, placed sparsely within the folds of rice. We had plenty of left overs for a a couple extra days but by the second, third day, we were just eating noodles/rice :(
(4)Scott S.
I eat here quite a bit, about half the time take out. Very good Pad Thai. Good sushi offerings. They don't mess around with the spice, order mild and for a wimp like me it's a bit more, but still, good stuff. The only real caveat to this place is the service can be spotty. I hate to say it, but if you get one of the "locals" they tend to struggle, however, if you get a member of the owner's family you'll be well taken care of. Either way you can get a good meal here and it's consistent.
(3)Marisa I.
I ordered the Pad See Ew to-go after a long day of work and I was kind of disappointed. It had about 5 pieces of broccoli, a thick layer of oily sauce, and noodles. I'm not planning on returning. :(

Thai cuisine is my favourite take-out/dine in any day really cuisine to eat. I really wanted it one night and thai basil was the only one we found open at the time we were looking so we drove 20 mins and found it pretty easily. The woman at the desk who greeted us was very moody when we came in. We asked was it still ok to sit down or did she want us to order take out because of the time but she said no it was ok as there were others in the dining area eating also. The place wasn't too busy, it was only a weekday but was nice and clean and a little decorated. We got served by a nice lady and service was very prompt our food came out super quick even though the reception area was super busy (even for a weekday) with take out orders and the phone was ringing non stop. When we ordered I wanted to actually browse the menu more, I do this in restaraunts sometimes as I wait for my food (and because my iphone's irish and so I can only surf the net if I get wifi in places) so I went back out and grabbed a take away menu from the front desk and the manager was on a personal call...and gave me the dirtiest look ever...like I had done something wrong by taking a menu back into the dining area. That was unnessesary and I took away one star for that rudeness If I remember correctly I got the pad khin (spicy, as I like my thai spicy mmm) and my partner got chicken thai red curry. When it arrived the main dish was hot...not overly piping hot (temperature wish not spice wise) and the server left the table just as I was tucking into the white rice and it was basically freezing cold I almost spat it out. To me that is just nasty to not realize the rice in your restaraunt which comes as a staple with every main dish isn't even hot?? Made me wonder how long it was resting wherever it was in the kitchen and what the take away orders were going to think of it too (I know they can just reheat but I would be taken aback if I got cold rice in my order) anyways so I stopped eating until I saw the lady to get her attention and get a fresh order of rice but my partner had no problem with it???!! I'm sorry but I am a food snob when it comes to restaurants and getting proper service and getting your order correct, especially in this day of age where a company or establishment can be made or broken with social media comments about how awful/bad of an experience or how great/amazing an experience you had somewhere. So I didn't understand why he wasn't bothered by it. Anyways the lady came back around and I said it politely that it was cold and could I get a fresh one, she apologized and took mine then asked my partner if he wanted a fresh one too, he said yeah ok. After all that we got new hot rice and the meal was pretty delicious overall, I tasted the sauce of my partners red curry as I love red and green thai curry but I rarely order them when we go to a thai restaurant as I cook those particular dishes a lot at home so I like to try other stir fry dishes. I didn't like the taste of his sauce all too much but he loved it. I deducted another star for the rice incident. Great food though so if you're into thai and live near the area then give them a try
(3)Andrea E.
I LOVE this restaurant. My boyfriend and I get takeout from here all the time. We always get the pad thai, drunken noodle and yellow curry. All three of those dishes are fabulous. I love that the pad thai is never sweet - I find that way too many Thai places make it overly sweet. The sauce is delicious and I like that the chopped peanuts and lime slice are fresh. I've also gotten their sushi before and it was fabulous as well. I highly recommend Thai Basil!

Growing up in a Polish household meant that I didn't exactly eat a lot of spicy foods in my formative years. As such, my tender tongue is still adapting to the heat I've been recently training it on. By golly, I really want to be someone who eats spicy food! But I can't yet quite get there. I still ask for mild to medium and have been working my way up to hotter. This means that I don't even know what REALLY hot food is supposed to be like because I tend to shy away from it. I've heard time and time again that a lot of ethnic restaurants in the area tone down their heat to appease those with similar palates to mine. Now, I can't be certain but after my experience today I'm gonna have to guess that Thai Basil doesn't do this. So heat seekers, come on down! I popped in today for my first visit here. I was definitely ready for some curry so I ordered the yellow curry with chicken, mild. It. Was. Delicious. But it was also, most decidedly, not mild. At least the way I have previously experienced mild. But that's ok! It was so good I worked through the heat. A creamy sauce flecked with spice, coconut, LOADS of tender chicken, potatoes, and onion. I've definitely had my fair share of curries with only a few pieces of chicken floating around--not this one! This one was packed with poultry. It came with a side of rice, which is the norm. Starch city, bay-be! I ate about half my dish (generous portions too) when my mouth couldn't take it anymore. I drank some more water, ate some more plain rice, and gave it another go because it was so good I didn't want to stop. But sadly I had to concede. Maybe next time I order "no spice" so I can finish because, my God, I wanted to! Service was a-ok. My server wasn't overly attentive but I saw her enough. Price was good--I have more than enough leftovers for another meal which is great for $11. AND I feel like I just worked up my tolerance level another notch. Go me!

Ordered curry fried rice from here. First they messed up my order and gave me pad Thai instead. I had to go back to exchange. The food was terrible and lacked any flavor what so ever. I asked for Xtra hot and the result was more like a medium. The place itself looks dark, dingy and boxed in. I would not waste any money here. For someone who has tasted good Thai food, this place is a JOKE!
(1)Ana P.
This Thai restaurant is the Best. I moved from Livonia to Rochester and I just come back to Livonia to go to restaurant. First thing my sister does when she comes from Belgium to visit me is going to this restaurant. Food and service are excellent.
(5)Christopher F.
I ordered the Pad Thai with Shrimp and the papaya salad. The pad Thai was decent nicely spiced and mine had big pieces of shrimp about 6, this was more authentic than your ketchup induced pad thai's, but not the best I have had. Their papaya salad was interesting in that they use big pieces of shrimp instead of dried shrimp which I liked, but I thought their sauce lacked lime and fish sauce, need to do a little better job on the papaya salad!

This was my second shot at Thai Basil for sushi. First off, service was a little slow considering we got there before the lunch rush, but they did bring us a bowl of Egg Drop soup on the house before we even ordered. I'm not a huge fan of Egg Drop but it was pretty good. I remember this place having huge pieces of nigiri. That seems to be pretty consistent. I ordered some maguro/tuna, tomago/omelette on rice, unagi/river eel and a spicy tuna roll. All around it was kind of disappointing if I'm being honest. The sushi came out pretty cold where it should be a little closer to room temperature. The nigiri was decent sized and the tuna was very nice and fell apart in my mouth. The Japanese omelette nigiri was fairly sweet and a little too wet overall. It reminded me of a sponge on rice. I'm pretty sure that the spicy tuna was spicy salmon and it was OK but virtually no flavor or heat to speak of, which was a huge bummer. Lastly the Unagi which is always one of my favorite parts of the meal when done properly - which it wasn't. As it was presented it looked as though it had been shivved in prison. I always count on sushi being as appealing aesthetically as it should taste but these eel looked like they were abused and plated. I think I'd be willing to give them another shot for the sushi but I'm not in a rush.

I came here one evening and ordered sweet chili fried rice and was brought the stir fry version... When I explained that I had ordered the fried rice, the waitresses tried to explain to me that the dish was the same as the fried rice, only in stir fry version with white rice on the side... What??? Stir fry is stir fry and fried rice is fried rice... Maybe this explanation would work with someone who has little experience eating Thai food, however I have been eating Thai food since I was a very young child... Needless to say, I will not be returning...
(1)Tiffany B.
As far as Thai food goes it is really really good. Some things I would suggest is be careful as to how hot you ask for your meal to be because it can get hot! Also I wouldn't recommend getting the sushi they have as an option on the menu. It's kinda like going to a steak house and getting fish. If you have a craving for sushi go to a sushi place for it. Service here is always very plesant. I also like the atmosphere, it is good for dinner dates and business meetings it is definitely quiet. Not sure what I ordered last time cause it's been a little while but it's all really good (as long as you don't get sushi).
(4)Lauren Z.
Pad Thai is WONDERFUL here. They also make really good Sushi. One of my favorite spots to go on my lunch break. Fast carry out service. I would recommend!
(4)Charity G.
LOVE this place. I've tried numerous Thai restaurant's and this will always be a fave~ best Pad Thai around and red curry is amazing !! Pretty much whatever I try has been delic*.
(4)Lori M.
Very good. Our daughter like sushi, we like Thai, so we order carry out often. The only criticism would be...it isn't consistent.
(4)Srinivasa Reddy J.
I like this place. Good food, service and reasonable price. I had Curry ftied rice. The quantity of food was more than enough for one person's lunch. I will definitely go again if I happen to be in Livonia.
(4)Betsy N.
Delicious Thai food. Huge portions! Very spicy for mild. Tom Kha Gai, curries, pad thai, other dishes were all great. We'll be back.
(5)C P.
Thai Basil is the worst Thai restaurant I have ever been to. We ordered two stir-fry dishes and a pad-thai...they all tasted the same..same sauce (sweetest). Pad-thai I ordered was the sweetest I ever had. When I told our server about that she disappeared with the dish. Later (after 10 min) receptionist appeared with the check. When we asked her about the food we sent back to kitchen. She angrily told us that Thai food is like that. After telling her harshly that that was not the first time I had Thai food and if the chef doesn't know how to make Thai food don't blame customers, she took off the dishes from the check..... DON'T GO THERE, unless you are into SWEETEST THAI FOOD !!
(1)Jen D.
I love this place. Great food every time! Service isn't always the best, but the food is worth it.
(4)Kooky K T.
I absolutely LOVE, LOVE Thai Basil. I hop on the highway just to drive there to pick up take-out for lunch. It has the best Thai I have tried anywhere. They do not skimp on ingredients.. I always get the Pad Thai, and the flavor is so delicious!! They give you a lot of sprouts, nuts, and carrots, all the goodies... it is not dry as I have found in some places.. but always very saucy. And the price is fabulous.. at lunch a large portion of pasta, with a complimentary side soup for only $8.50. You can't beat that, considering there are always leftovers! I wish they would open more locations!
(5)Matt B.
One of my favorite Thai restaurants and stop in for lunch a couple times a month. Busy but never a wait as they have plenty of space. Great price and can't go wrong.
(5)Judith O.
This is the best Pad Thai I've had since I moved to Michigan. I got 3 orders to-go, one hot and the other two mild. They're really light on the spices, but it's still delicious. We'll definitely be ordering from here again.
(4)Dayna C.
Tofu wasn't good. At all. The curry itself was quite sub-par. Rating it based on my vegetarian experience. My sister had a shrimp dish, she said it was 'okay.' 2 stars even though the food was not to my liking, but the service was decent.
(2)Jenna B.
Thai Basil has good tasting thai food and decent sushi. As others have said it's nice to be able to go here and get thai food with some sushi as an appetizer. I had only ever gone for lunch so price was never an issue. However, I recently ordered carry out dinner on a weekend and the prices were pretty high for dinner. The four of us that ordered all thought the portions were very small compared to other thai places. I would recommend this place for lunch when you want a quick thai & sushi fix. However I think there are better thai places out there that have better value.
(3)Jason C.
I went to Thai Basil with some of my old colleagues. We got seated and got our menus and we ordered. I ordered the Drunken Noodles with chicken. As I waited for my food to arrive, I looked around the place. For some odd reason, the place reminded me of a Chinese restaurant, I'm not sure why... maybe it was the layout or the design... I couldn't figure it out... I got my food and I enjoyed the dish. The Thai restaurant that I typically go to does not have Drunken Noodles, but I had them before at different places. If I had to decide between Thai Basil or Little Bangkok, by default, I would select Little Bangkok. The service was good, although if it gets busy the service slows a bit. They also have sushi you can order; haven't tried them yet. As I always say, reviews are helpful, but you have to try it yourself and judge the place on your own merits :)
(3)Mic M.
Today I had the pleasure of going to Thai Basil for the first time, as a matter of fact, it was the first time having Thai food! As someone who loves the flavor of Chinese food, a colleague recommended to me that we find a Thai place for lunch. Using my trusty Yelp app on my phone and plugging in Thai, one of the closer places to our location was this place, and after looking at a few reviews, decided to partake in the offerings! The first impression was, this place is very nice, clean and would accommodate most diners and whatever occasion. The staff were very friendly and were eager to please. The meal started with a bowl of chicken rice soup, and man it was good, very flavorful! On the recommendation of my fellow diner, I ordered the Pad Thai with pork (medium heat). The dish consisted of stir-fried rice noodles with eggs, tamarind juice, red chilli pepper, bean sprouts, and was garnished with crushed peanuts, coriander and lime. I have never had this before, and you can bet I will have this again. The lunch prices were really good and the portions generous. The prices on dinner items looked to range from about 11 to 15 bucks, but lunch was about $8. Thai Basil was an excellent first experience of this wonderful type of food! I am a fan!
(5)Natalie C.
My boyfriend and I visited this place recently and instantly fell in love with it. We both love sushi and thai food and to be able to get both in the same place was awesome. The quality of their food is fantastic. The sushi was fresh and the thai food was perfectly seasoned. Not to mention, their half off sushi mondays are the best thing ever!!
(5)Lisalynn K.
We have been looking for a good Thai place near Farmington Hills with not much luck. The places we've been to either seem dirty or had mediocre (at best) food. I think this will be our new spot. We got take-out from them and both our meals were very good. There was a good amount of vegetables in mine and you can tell they were fresh, not canned...plus, there were a lot! I usually get the same thing everywhere I go (some version of red curry stir fry with tofu) and more often than not, there doesn't seem to be enough vegetables in it. The prices seemed a little high, but you get pretty big portions. The seating area inside seemed decent as well. Plus, they're open fairly late.

This place has the absolute best Pad Thai I've tried in Michigan, maybe even in the US - it's that good!

I'm struggling with this one... because taking away a star on here really doesn't do anything. The food is really good, don't get me wrong, but they keep missing on the service end. Specifically, they're really good at getting orders wrong. I don't know why, but that bothers me more than anything, especially when it comes to carry-out. Shame on me for trusting that the receipt matches what's in the bag. Maybe they're not listening. Maybe they write it down wrong. Each time. Maybe... ugh... it doesn't matter. Please please please please please get this one aspect of your business right.

Super yummy and great staff! Always get seated in the same seat for some reason though. . And one time a drunk women started a fight here and they handled it very well.

Good service and good food. Try their fried rice, especially the Thai Basil Fried rice. Their Panang curry is also amazing.

This place is great for lunch. They have a very reasonably priced lunch menu with many choices. Service is fast and for the most part friendly. I like to get chicken in my dishes and this place has better chicken than any other Thai restaurant I've tried. We typically split a sushi roll for an appetizer, and everything we've tried has been excellent. My one complaint is the soup they bring you for an appetizer, the last few times I've been there it hasn't been much more than some broth with a few pieces of cucumber or squash in it. How about something with a bit more flavor? Overall I love this place. I also enjoy the mints they give you when you leave.

My wife and I have been here 3 times, and quite frankly, it's pretty dang good!! First and foremost, ...REQUEST Charleen's area, she's sweet, helpful and very very friendly! So, those of you who have said service is aweful, ...try again w/ Charleen! :) Ok, ...first, ....sushi is 'pretty good' .....if you want a quick-fix, it's kind of cool to be able to get a roll for an app before your thai dinner ;) LOVE LOVE LOVE the Sweet Chil dishes ...wow! And, ...Soup #9 (cream based...sorry can't remember the name) is UNBELIEVABLE! Oh, and by the way, ...the decor is chinese looking because it was a chinese restaurant before this ;) Besides, ...does anyone really care about decor in a restaurant? A thai place can look like a log-cabin on the inside for me, ....if the food and service are good, ...that's all that counts. So far my wife and I are 3 for 3 ....we like it!

I really want to rate this place higher, I really do, but what's killing it for me has been the poor service I have received pretty much every time I have gone there. The food is pretty tasty, but I have come to find out the cook has a light hand when it comes to the spice. Normally when you eat Thai and you ask for Hot it usually sets your mouth on fire. At Thai Basil however, at least for me, the Hot isn't well, very Hot. I also find it rather weird to see Sushi in a Thai place since Sushi is predominantly Japanese, but it's a nice addition. Like I said, what kills the place for me is how slow the service is. For example, myself and a few coworkers went there for lunch one day. There was literally only one other small group there and they were already eating. We sat down and it took a good 5 minutes before we were greeted. Now if this was in the middle of a dinner rush, that would be fine, but the place was dead. We ordered some Sushi to start and then our meals for lunch. A good 10 minutes pass, nothing. Another 10 and still nothing. During this time frame two more tables were sat and those two tables were already starting to eat. We waited 10 more minutes and still nothing. We ended up having to flag down our waitress and she seemed clueless like she had no idea we had been waiting for 30 minutes and have yet to receive a single thing we ordered. She assured us it was on its way out and another 15 minutes had passed before our Sushi finally came out. Now I am no expert here, but does it really take 45 minutes to make a couple of California Rolls? At this point we were getting pretty upset and it was nearing the end of our lunch hour. We flagged the waitress down again and told her we had to leave and unless the food was ready and could be boxed up for us in the next 5 minutes, to cancel the rest of the order. To our surprise within 2 to 3 minutes our food was ready and boxed up. We ended up eating our main dishes during a company wide meeting back at work which was a little uncomfortable. That was probably the worst experience I have had with the wait staff there, but they are slow most other times too, just not that slow. If you are looking for good food and have time to kill waiting for it then by all means go to Thai Basil. If not, then I suggest Little Bangkok in Plymouth. It's small, but the food is excellent and the service is spot on.

Delicious food (I love the shrimp rolls) and great service. Their lunch menu prices are really reasonable.

It's nearly impossible to go wrong here. My girlfriend and I come here very often. All of the food here is fantastic. The wait staff sometimes seems neglectful, but they're still very pleasant.

I have a system for trying new Thai restaurants for the first time, and that is I order 3 staple dishes. I occasionally switch it up slightly but generally I'll order the pad se ew, a curry, and a fish dish. On all three counts Thai Basil was win win win. Harmonious and flavorful, and when I said I want it hot, they didn't give it to me "hot", it was face melting hot...the way I love it. Awesome little Thai place in a strip mall in Livonia, great to pick up carry out on my way home from work. One of my favorites in the area.

My favorites are the Pad Thai and the pineapple curry. Yummy! The restaurant is always clean and the service is excellent.

Monday night is half price sushi night. We have gone twice now, and order the same thing both times. It's going to be a Monday night tradition. Yum!

This restaurant was an amazing find. I was at my part-time office job and realized I had only packed a diet coke and a piece of fruit for lunch and that wasn't going to get me through the afternoon. I headed out to get takeout and drove up and down 6 Mile looking for someplace promising. I ended up in the Newburgh Plaza. I saw Thai Basil and didn't have really great hopes for a restaurant in a mall. However, I ended up having the best Pad Thai ever from this restaurant. I've eaten at half a dozen Thai places, and this was seriously the best. The veggie Pad Thai was spicy but not so spicy that it covered up the other more subtle flavors. It was served with a wedge of lime and fish sauce on the side so you could add as much or as little as you wanted. And it wasn't too greasy, which has happened to me at some Thai places. Normally, dinners cost $11-$15 or more at Basil Thai, but lunch is really reasonable with most dishes costing between $7-8. Though I got the lunch portion, it was enormous. I ended up eating about a third of it for lunch, then came back to snack on it later, and it was just as good cold. I got takeout this time, but I'd like to go in and see if the service is as good as the food is. I can say that takeout service was incredibly quick. They told me it'd be 10 minutes, but it was more like six or seven.

You aren't going to find much better Thai than this in the Livonia area. I've eaten there many times and feel comfortable taking my out of town guests there. The sushi is pretty good too.

We've been going to this restaraunt since it first opened, and as of late, the service has been really leukwarm. It's one of our favorite Thai restaraunts in the area. The food is good - we typically order the pad woon sen, shrim rolls and the fried tilapia. The thai iced tea and spring rolls aren't the best. I would stay away from the Sushi rolls - and opt for a genuine Japanese place for a more authentic Sushi experience (like Inyo in Royal Oak).

great food, great surroundings, great service. I will go again.

The BEST Thai in the area...everything on the plate was fresh and tasty. We even ordered Crab Rangoon for an app (no high hopes considering this is typically a Chinese dish) and it was again, the best I have had.

I've tried most of the Thai places in the Livonia/Canton area, and this place is my favorite. I go here for lunch on a regular basis. I've also taken family and friends here for dinner and they consistently deliver delicious Thai cuisine. I've heard that if you know what to order they can also make more authentic Thai dishes..

Dine in experience is pleasant. Good, but not great service. Includes nice choclate fortune cookie roll. I also had take-out recently. Unfortunately, it was on the weekend which means even if its lunch-time, you have to order from the full-price dinner menu. So $9 for an order of Chicken Pad Thai for lunch is a little much. Other than that, good Thai food but I would only dine-in for dinner, and take-out during the week.

We ordered carry out from Thai Basil and were extremely pleased with our choices. We have eaten at many Thai places and Thai Basil was delicious. I got the Massamon curry, which was one of the best I have had. They were quick with our order and very pleasant. This is a little gem tucked into a strip mall- would highly recommend it.

Great Thai. Perhaps the best Thai I've had in Michigan. Good, friendly serice to boot.

I really love Thai food, but I did not like this restaurant. I actually had my food sent back because of the overpowering basil leaves in the dish. The name holds true, so if you love basil, you should love this place. I think Little Bangkok in Plymouth and the Siam Spicys are much better.

A friend of mine and her hubby are huge fans of this place. She never lets me pay for anything when I go see her so I always let her choose the restaurant. I have eaten here with them once and we ordered carry-out a couple of times. It's not bad but it is no where near as fabulous as Tup-Tim in Ypsitucket. It is not even better than No Thai, so I think it's a bit overpriced. Plus the decor is so 80's, what's up with that???
