The absolute worst Olive Garden I've ever been too, from the appetizers to the meals just horrible food. We had stuffed mushrooms, calamari (what was octopus was shriveled into rubber), and fried zucchini, there were sauces on the plate that were literally covered with a watery substance . I ordered the Northern Tour of Italy had one bite of each thing on the plate and that was it, my husband order Italian sausage rigatoni, consistency blended cat food. Every thing was obviously frozen for wayyyy to long! SAVE YOURSELVES THE MONEY AND DISAPPOINTMENT. Manager didn't charger for the plate that I basically didn't touch but I would still never step foot in there again.

Slooooooooooooooooooooooowwww even with call ahead order. I went there to enjoy the buy one take one special for 12 99. I ordered and waited 45 minutes at the bar for a takeaway. when I got the food from the kitchen at the bar it was already cold. I'm not speaking about the one that would be for the second day which is served cold so that you can store in the refrigerator and cook it the next day. If you serve Fettuccine Alfredo there should be sauce on it at least enough to cover the pasta. when you pay to add chicken to a dish you should get at least a whole chicken breast. I cannot say anything good about my visit to this location. Not one thing at all. I will never return to this location, and this is probably why I don't frequent Olive Garden when I really want Italian food

One of my girlfriends called me at work and asked if I wanted to meet her for dinner. I said yes and would meet at 5:30!!! Well, we decided to go to Ram's Horn on Inkster Road, but then I remembered between the two of us was an Olive Garden, so I said let's meet there. She was a little hesitant - she said she heard bad things about this particular restaurant. I said we can always leave, so we decided to go to OG on Middlebelt! Initially when I entered there was a middle-aged woman who greeted me very nicely. Told here there would be two of us and gave her my friend's name. I was seated immediately! The waitress, LaKenya, came up to me and asked me what I wanted to drink. Very nice, was talking to her for a minute or two and found out she is also a substitute teacher and she was with third graders all day! Phew, better her than me! My friend came in and LaKenya asked her for her drink order as well. No problems. Ordered and was served our food piping hot! Absolutely no problems. The restaurant appeared clean. All is good. A special shout out to Alfonso who also was very kind in assisting LaKenya!

The breadsticks and endless salad are pretty good. Your usual Italian fare, it's not bad. My biggest complaint is that it is SOOOO loud in there.

I'm usually not one to rate chain places... but last nights encounter left me with a rather bitter taste in my mouth. My wife and I were running around doing some errands, and decided to stop at one of our favorite places to eat. This was right along the route that we were going, so we stopped in for dinner. As soon as we got into the door, we were promptly greeted... but there was something.. odd about it. I just took a deep breath in, and was taken back by what I could only describe as a moisture/moldy smell right at the door. I asked my wife if she had smelled it... and she wanted to pass it off as the cheese that was being used... but something told me otherwise. When we were being seated... they sat us rather close to where we entered.. I kindly asked if we could be seated further back in the restaurant, and they were more than willing to do so. Getting to the actual meal... it was our normal selection of food that we like to get. But our waitress... fell really short of the normal service I have learned to expect from an Olive Garden. She delivered our soup and salad... said the breadsticks were cooking and that we'd get a fresh batch when they were done. Okay.. Well, my wife and I had finished our soup and salad... and then sat there. Our drinks then became empty. We continued to sit there. Our waitress showed up about 10 minutes later with our main courses. No breadsticks... but our main meal. I asked for a refill of our beverages, and she had told us that she'd be right back with them. While we started to eat our dinner... and we soon realized... that our beverages seemed to not be coming. In fact, we had to ask another waitress if she could ask our waitress to bring us our refills. (We had water) Never came. We actually had to re-ask the waitress at the table next to us to please get us our refills. The next time we saw our waitress? Was when she arrived with boxes to box up our food, that and to promptly hand us our bill. Needless to say, I was very disappointed in the service that we had received. I hope that is not a trend going forward at this establishment.

I'm at the olive garden in Livonia, mi and had the best service ever. My waitress named was Kiara and she was very good at her job. I'm giving them four stars best of the service.

I absolutely love this place. The staff is nice, the food is great and service rocks. I don't know why so many people seem to hate it, but I recommend this place to everyone. My favorite dish is the Chicken and Shrimp Carbonara. As for the negative comments, ignore them. No restaurant is without fault, just be a little patient and everything will be great.

Oh, the smell in this place. The mold and mildew is overwhelming. I wanted to leave the moment I walked in, but my son was looking forward to the meal, so we stayed. Service was good, and I imagine the food would have tasted much better if my appetite hadn't disappeared as soon as I entered the doors.

You can never go wrong with Olive Garden! The food is always good. The staff, however, is sometimes unbearable to watch. Though the hostess is always friendly and fast, when we get our actual server, they are super slow. I've gone here 4-5 times and it seems to always be a new waitress waiting on us. I usually order wine when we first order drinks, and my boyfriend gets a pop. By the time we get our drinks, our menus are closed because we had so much time to figure out what we want to eat. The last time we went, about three weeks ago, we had another new waitress. She was awesome, but still slow. Wasn't her fault. We were actually sitting near the kitchen, where we observed a handful of the waitstaff super stressed out, getting mad, and seemed very confused, since they were all helping each other serve food to another table that was not theirs. So I have concluded that it may not be the waitstaff. I just think they are either poorly trained or they need more breaks, especially on crazy nights during dinner! Regardless, I will still be visiting this location :)

Dirty, nasty, disgusting place to eat. Plates and silverware are always dirty, employees don't care about you or your food, stay away from this location, go to Olive Garden in Novi, much better location and much better food.

My daughter's favorite place. My family has eaten here several times and it is always enjoyable. The staff is friendly and pleasant. The restaurant including the restrooms are clean. Our food has always been very good. It sometimes takes awhile to get your food but is worry the wait

Used to like this place but the last time there we got up and left. The wait to get service is too long and then you wait for your food, which isn't always that good anyway.

Well, I'm sitting at the bar as I write this. I ordered carry out and did not order ahead on purpose because I wanted to order a drink as well while I waited. As a bartender myself either these two were very inexperienced bar staff or they were just awful bartenders. I never got to order my drink because they never came back to me or even offered something while I wait. I also noticed the servers constantly asking for things missing off their order. .... 10 minutes pass, I'm now the only one at the bar and still not even a little bit of eye contact from the bar staff. It's like I'm not even here. The girl working tonight is rude and has no manners. Not sure why I'm even still waiting at this miserable bar.

My daughter and I frequent this restaurant more than any others because we enjoy it so much. The food is always consistently good, even the lighter fare which I have started to enjoy more and more recently. The wait staff is always pleasant and enjoy engaging my daughter who has special needs but absolutely loves their spaghetti. I have only had 1 bad experience which was only due to the food being overly salty (once in 10 years!) which was rectified immediately! I love the fact that then wait staff is so attentive and I have even had the pleasure of speaking with the manager when she was checking on people on several different occasions. The ONLY reason why I didn't give the restaurant 5 stars is because I reserve those solely for HIGH end restaurants that spoil me! :)

Ok..I know Olive Garden has never been a "true" Italian haunt...But, I always took it for it is ... A chain and when it done right .. You can get a damn fine fixin' ... This location has problems ! Slow service ... Non-Attentive Managers and the worst food of any Olive Garden I have been too... Do yourself a favor ... Get Pancakes at I-Hop across the parking lot ..

I haven't been to Olive Garden in about 8 years. My first time back I was so surprised! The wait wasn't too long at all. Me and my friend got serviced right away and our food came out 10 minutes after ordering. Service was great the waitress was very nice and the atmosphere was nice and quiet. Love this place! 5 stars.

this place is usually a hit or miss! the past couple of times i've been here the food has been mediocre. i've been told to avoid this place on sundays, because it is their busiest day and they run out of everything. i went here on a sunday night, and yep, they were out of every pasta besides angel hair pasta. they also did not have any cheese ravioli left, kind of disappointing. the service is amazing usually, and pretty fast. if only they could get it together when it comes to not running out of everything...if you ask me olive garden charges a little too much money for the little amount of food that you get. i prefer authentic italian restaurants!

    (2)
  • Anna M.

They used to be very good. Now, though, the food has gone downhill. Both of my last visits the food has been mediocre at best. I don't know if I'll go back any time soon. They do have a children's menu but the tables are so close together I wish that people would either not bring children, or learn to properly supervise their children's behavior.

I wasn't sure if I was going to have a good dinner here because I read the Yelp reviews before I went. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at how great the service was. We had a longer wait that I had hoped, and being that it was 7pm on a Tuesday night, I didn't think it'd be busy. This location doesn't allow call-ahead seating (which I love), so we really took a risk by just showing up with six adults and two children. It was about a 45 minute wait, which was longer than I had hoped for. When we finally got seated, our servers were WONDERFUL! The manager came out and said hello and promised to take care of us, and the servers were on the spot with everything we needed. The food was the standard Olive Garden food... but I did try the new crepes thingy with chicken and was delighted at how good it was. The crepes were filled with four cheeses and then there was a butter-garlic sauce that was over the crepes and grilled chicken. It was absolutely wonderful. The salad was great and we loved the bread as well. I cannot compain about the food or the service at this location. It's one of the better Olive Garden experiences that I've had!!

This Olive Garden is fine. I much prefer the decor here over Novi, but I've had...better?...experiences at the Novi location. Really, it's just the service that's a *little* funky. Perhaps it shouldn't even be a complaint. The service we've had makes for great stories. For one lunch occasion, my grandmother kept calling the waiter back for one thing and another. My grandmother's a cute woman, not some awful nag or anything, but the waiter got a bit flustered. I think it was a rather busy lunch service anyway. Well, when the waiter was trying to escape, my grandmother grabbed him by the wrist. Unintentional as it was, the waiter almost fell and dropped everything. I wish I could paint you the image I have in my mind. On another occasion, a late dinner in this instance, I got into a martial arts discussion with a waitress. She spoke very highly of her Karate, claiming it or herself to be rather undefeatable. I asked her to consider her grappling skills, and she said she didn't need them. So, I carefully threw her Judo-style (makikomi hip throw for the kids at home) onto the floor. Thankfully the place was closing. =)

I realize service is a highly personal thing. For me, it is often more important than the meal itself. I don't like to be rushed but I value efficiency. I like professionalism with a sincere smile and having to wait for initial drinks or refills is the ultimate deal breaker. I am generally not an Olive Garden girl and I much prefer supporting mom and pop places. That being said, I've never had a bad meal at any location. I especially enjoy the special menu items that they run. We went to this particular location once b/c I had a gift card and once right before Christmas for a family gathering. Both times, the service was absolutely exceptional. I can honestly say they went above and beyond what is expected from an Olive Garden. And the food was good, reasonably priced and generously portioned.

Two stars says it all. Meh. But it's Olive Garden, so what else is new... The food has gotten better over the years, but one problem remains: the service here is insanely slow.

I have NEVER once actually had to talk to a manager because a restaurant's service was so bad, until my visit here. A group of four of my girlfriend's and myself, along with our 3 kids, met here for lunch. Our waitresses were very obviously poorly trained. Everyone's orders were taken, except for mine. Had to ask if I could order something. My waitress walked off after taking everyone else's order at our table. Our kiddos all got something from the kid's menu. One hour and 15 min. after arriving, our girl's food still hadn't arrived. Mind you, the waitresses had brought salad, soup and finally appetizers (last I might add) by this time. We had to track down a manager and ask where our girls meals and the other meals were at. I had waited on eating my meal because I'm obviously not going to eat in front of my kids. By the time they finally got their food, mine was cold. The waitresses were rude. Neither one bothered to come back to apologize for the delays or offer any explanation. Never once came back to check on our tables, refill drinks or offer any further soup, salad or breadsticks---the unlimited is what we had ordered. I tracked down one of them to ask if they could bring my daughter another drink. She came back and set it across the table from her so she couldn't even reach it. I had to get up, walk down the table and get her her drink. Completely furious by the time I left. I spoke with the manager and told her this was by far the worst service I had ever had, ever. Told her to remove the gratuity as it was not warranted at all. Let me tell you...my sister is a bartender/waitress so I appreciate and understand their job. I tip well and I have never not left a tip...until this day. I didn't leave a cent. I will NEVER return to this location and would advise you to do the same. As far as the food goes. My friend ordered a steak medium and it was brought out 1 hour and 15 min. after we arrived and it was beyond well done. She didn't even eat it. My chicken and gnocchi soup had not a single gnocchi....not one! My daughter's spaghetti was dry-almost no sauce at all.

I want to say that this is not my first time visiting this location, and my review really reflects the culmination of really crappy experiences...today being no different than most of the others! First all I can say is how the heck do I keep on getting the slowest service when going here. I mean how long does it really take to get 2 glasses of freakin water? I can tell you that 10 minutes is too long! Next up...we did the soup, salad and breadsticks...pretty easy right, I mean this is one of their main lunch things that should be ready to go...how much prep is there for lettuce, warmed liquid and oven heated dough...its not like this is a made to order place! Well it took at least 15 minutes to get the first soup and salad, and the bowls were half empty, including the salad. So then we indicated that we had limited time and that we wanted to place our next order right then, you know trying to think ahead, the server obliged us, but then was a little pissy with us after that! The table next to us, was being taken care of by two servers, our server being one of them, no delays for them thats for sure, very slow service for us though! The soup was great and a little spicier than I remember, the salad was not bad, and the bread sticks warm. The next thing that stood out to me, and not the fault of the restaurant was how many people brought their children here for lunch. Really...haven't you people heard of McDonald's or Chucky Cheese or even Red Robin? Listen, by the sounds of your crying screeching precious little window lickers, it is clear they do not care for this place... and for those having a business lunch, we don't care to hear them crying! Try and stop being a selfish boob and let your kids play in the plastic balls somewhere, because the "big" people are not enjoying your bundles of joy! Overall this visit was pretty poor, the service sucked, but not much different than previous visits, unfortunately we sometimes must go where our colleagues choose!

Down in the Detroit area for a few days while the other half is in a training class this week, and this place is mighty close to the hotel. Pretty standard Olive Garden, overall, but the staff was fun - they even sold us a couple of wine glasses to take back to the hotel with us. Tiffany K was a great server, even for a late Sunday night. Enjoyed watching a couple of staff moving tables around as they prepped for closing... Took a bit to realize the ones bolted to the floor don't move, however! (*grins*)

It's been a long time since I visited Olive Garden, seems like their prices are going up every month! They have a 3 course special for $12.95, which includes a salad/soup, entree and dessert. Sounds Great right? Not! They've chosen those entree from the regular menu, you get salad or soup regardless when you order an entree, and a mini shot of dessert. So it's not a Special, because it costs the same regardless, no matter how you break it down. My 5 cheese penne pasta came out warm, which I would normally make a fuss, but I was so stuffed from all the salad and breadsticks. Our server was great compared to the ones we have had there in the past. He had to be told to bring out the silverware role, bread plates, but was advanced in refilling. Again, he's the best we've had ever at an Olive Garden Restaurant. There were so many more employees than there were guests, which would explain the parking in the woods situation. You can't tell the difference from the hostess, servers, bussers and runner. There's like 5 employees swarming over one table, not sure if they are working as a team to clear it or take the tip! At the end, everything was great, got to watch a soap opera unveil next to us when a guy got stood up, he was complaining about that for an hour. I'd go back....when the prices go up again!

The Olive Garden has it's ups and downs in my opinion and this occasion was a definite up. The Pasta e Fagioli soup and salad were excellent and the bread sticks were hot and fresh. We tried the 2 meal, 3 course special and the entrees were very good. The Lasagna Fritta appetizer was great. The Fettuccine Alfredo and the Smoked Mozzarella Chicken were both creamy and very tasty. The Tiramisu desert was very good as always. 4 stars for this location and service.

I was CRAVING both a good salad and warm soup so, having been previously brainwashed by Olive Garden commercials, I went for their soup & salad dealie. This location was SLAMMIN' when I got there around 1pm, so I sat myself at the bar. The service I received was by all accounts a 5-star experience. The service was literally instantaneous after I ordered my soup & salad. The bartender was SUPER nice and friendly. She chatted for a while with myself and a gentleman at the bar about local people, and how she's worked there since that store opened (20+ years!). She was very prompt with my refills of pop and soup, and I was very pleased. After I checked out she asked my name and told me hers (I've since forgotten it, I'm bad with names), but she invited me back. The salad is great and the breadsticks are adequate (I don't expect anything more). The soup was only okay - I thought the flavors were a little bland and the minestrone soup was too "beaney." But I love soup and breadsticks for dipping makes all soup good. It's a chain restaurant that's reasonably priced, I don't expect fireworks. All in all a really nice experience and I'll be back for sure. Highly recommend.

My husband and I go to the Olive Garden from time to time. We both have good appetites and we enjoy the breadsticks and salad. Today was the first time neither of us finished our entrees. I ordered one of their "new" menu items. It was a wide tubular pasta called "torto...,.something" which was supposed to be filled with an Italian sausage filling and covered with a sauce and melted mozzarella. Well, the filling was a bland mush. It did not taste like the firm spicy Italian sausage that I was expecting. To be honest , a meatless substitute would've tasted better than this. And the mushy texture was awful. My husbands entree looked good but I don't know why he didn't like his. He offered me a taste but I was too busy attempting to find something to like about mine and I said "no". We both got doggy bags. ( this was a 1st time for my husband as he always cleans his plate). I don't even think I will eat the left overs of my entree. The appetizers were good however. And of course the salad and breadsticks were good.

We were there this past Sunday, Memorial Day weekend... it took 45 minutes for our food to come and when it came the chicken was over cooked. The manager did come over and apologized for it and how they had not enough staff working that day and how they dropped the ball. Still no excuse we were starving. He did end up taking our drinks and dipping sauce off of our bill when it came. I just hope when we come back the food will come faster.

I've seen some of the other reviews about this Olive Garden, and it really is a hit-or-miss experience. I will say that if you're coming during a "rush," don't expect quality service. Your best chance at fast service and hot food is going to be an hour after a "rush" is over. Having said that, the experiences I've had here have been nothing but pleasant. Most recently was here for Father's Day. We had a party of 13 (we all took Dad out for lunch) and they were surprisingly prompt on a Sunday during lunchtime. I ordered some type of shrimp pasta meal that was piping hot and tasted great. Of course, it always helps when you're able to fill up on unlimited salad and breadsticks. If you really want to evaluate this Olive Garden, go at least 3 times before you make a judgement.

Nothing says Italian like The Olive Garden, and nothing says class like all you can eat bread sticks. We were led to our table by Bill (a real 8th generation Italian-American!). I must say, I felt a bit overdressed in my Stone Cold 3:16 XXL T-shirt and acid-wash cut-offs, but the clip on ties and short sleeved collard shirts of the staff were a constant reminder of the class and sophistication at this establishment. Let me just say, I was overwhelmed with the wine selection! They had both red AND white! My head was swimming, but Bill offered to give me the "OG" treatment, and mix them together in one glass, just like they do in Italy! I didn't actually order any food, I just waited until the cheese grater lady came around to top off my wine and grate some cheese into my pockets for later. At this point, my gf was pretty impressed with my financial savyness, and in what I can only imagine to be a heightened sense of arousal, left before she lost control of herself over me. 9 thumbs up.

This location is terrible, especially when you order carry-out. I've been here a few times and it's the same terrible experience over and over, tonight was the final nail in the coffin. After placing an order online because whoever picked up the phone placed you on hold for ten annoying minutes, you'd think walking up to the bar to pick up the order should be simple enough, but it takes five minutes before anyone even acknowledges you and asks what you need. Then, it takes another ten minutes before the server heads to the back to check on the order, where they will spend another ten minutes. A total of 25 minutes later, you might have your food, but you'll need to double check it- your breadsticks are probably burnt, your pasta might be dry, and your order is probably missing condiments. This location is such a waste of time and space. Also, I don't know if the restaurant has a break room or not, but it's definitely not a good look for employees to be standing outside of the building spewing all kinds of profanity while on their cell phones, I mean, I'm not a prude in any way, but I do have standards.

I haven't been to this OG for about a year and a half... After seeing a few positive reviews for this year, I decided to try it. Needless to say, I don't believe my family or I will be back for awhile, if at all. The food wasn't bad, but when did their prices get like that of a top notch Italian Restaurant? Damn!!! $60 (w/o tip) for a family of 4 is fricken crazy. The food was ok... The food was 3.5 stars at best. The restaurant was approx 60% full, but our service was horrendous. The waitress we had acted liked she didn't even want to wait on our table, as drinks, bread & salad sat empty several times for several minutes at a time. However, the 2 tables on either side of us had just the opposite.. maybe she thought she'd get a better tip as both had wine, desserts, etc?!?!? I don't know, but it was like pulling teeth to get any type of service. However, when she brought the bill, that's when she warmed up... Really? Lol Needless to say, we were there 1.5 hours + and I was happy to get the heck out of there!! $60 + lighter however! Ugh....

I generally like Olive Garden - I know what it is and what it isn't. However, the quality varies widely from location to location. This Livonia location is clearly down at the bottom of that spectrum. I've been to this location numerous times over many years, but hadn't been here in a couple of years due to several bad experiences. Those experiences included bad service, poorly prepared food, long waits, etc. A waitress once increased her tip on the credit card after we left, and when I went back to the restaurant, the manager only refunded the stolen money without apologizing and continued to employ her. With great reluctance, I was going to try them again for a 12-person family gathering planned for a Sunday afternoon. However, when calling to make a reservation several days ahead of time, I was told that they don't take reservations on weekends and they don't seat partial parties, but we were welcome to have our dozen people gather in their tiny waiting area next to the rest rooms to anxiously await their decision to seat us. Umm, no thanks, there are other restaurants that are far more willing to hold a spot for a large party buying a lot of food and drinks.

Well the OG is not the first name to pop to mind when you think of fine dining (even though their updated menu with higher prices might have you thinking otherwise!. ) We where seated promptly and our waitress was friendly and attentive. Even though there was plenty of seating in general dining, we where given a table in the bar which is not my favorite place but I can over look it. The salad there as usual is top notch and there is nothing to complain about with unlimited OG salad! I ordered the chicken parmasan and it was very good. Solid dinner? Yes! Anything earth shattering to write home about? Definitely not

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
