High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure
Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

The first time I was at this [new] location was on Veteran's Day 2014 - I believe they had just had their grand opening the day before, the atmosphere was great, us Vets are pretty sociable for the most part - it was a nice experience. On my second visit 28 February 2015 I was initially seated in the back at a very very small table in a rather gloomy area. I re-seated myself in the bar area at a rather large table, I was delighted about the space, I do not like being cramped while eating. I ordered the sriracha shrimp which is a new item on Applebee's menu. When my meal finally arrived - it was slow in arrival - the extra Sriracha sauce I requested was not provided, when I saw the wedge salad, it was very disappointing - though it was a large wedge, it had a small drizzle of blue cheese dressing and one piece of bacon on top of it, I had to ask three times for additional blue cheese dressing, I was given ranch the first two times. I noticed the manager at least six different times asking other patrons how their meals were, but not once [and he looked right in my face] did he bother himself to ask me. I do not recall having such an unpleasant visit at an Applebee's [then again, I've only gone to those located in Henry County, GA] as I did at this location on Middlebelt, and they haven't even been in the spot a year yet and already the service and food are quite disappointing, I am uncertain if I will visit that particular location again. The best part about this visit was meeting the Stone family, who were initially seated at a very small table. I went to where they were sitting and offered for them to share my table, as I would be leaving shortly, they accepted and were delighted to have the roomy table. We had a pleasant conversation, then I left 10 or 15 minutes later. I recall that in November 2014 they had staff from out of state helping them, perhaps they need to get them to come back and retrain the MI employees. They really need to do better at this location.

Arrived on Sunday 1500 hours. Store was moderately busy. Was seated quickly and the person sad very courteous. The waiter came by with in 1-2 minutes. Brought our drinks very quickly after that. They accepted the coupon for free bar snack through yelp. Appetizers came out in 5-10 min while we waited to give our meals order. The appetizer were hot and fresh. Taste was great. Service to this point is out standing. Dinner came out hot and ready. The stake cooked just like I asked for. Perfection in the food and service. This place is great for family an I love the local school pictures. Tyler worked our table and did an outstanding job. Check number, 7797-111418.

The food was alright. Part of it was cold. Our service was not good. We had to ask to get more water and never got our lemons. I've had a much better experience at other Applebees locations

Brand new clean hot food ! Friendly and courteous staff! Today was the grand opening and we were very impressed !

Went last night after my daughters honor society ceremony. Was seated promptly, and the waitress greeted us quickly and had a drink order in before my coat was off. Then, we ordered. We ordered an appetizer and 3 entrees. The appetizers were being delivered as they were being made, but the wings took extra long. Then, the entrees started to come out. This was about 25 minutes later. The ribs were sent back because they were cold and extra dry. The manager greeted us, apologized, and offered to replace them, however, they were the last ribs in the entire restaurant. Had to choose something else, so I ordered a Parmesan steak and shrimp. My wife also wanted Parmesan sauce for her steak. This did not come out for over 20 minutes. For Just the sauce! Completely unacceptable! I had them package my steak to go, because it took almost 30 minutes for a medium rare steak. All in all, the food tasted good, and despite what some people say or think, the servers are generally pretty good. They can't, however, serve food that the kitchen does not prepare, or is ill-prepared to deliver. Too many servers pacing around tables with no food to bring them. Fix the kitchen problems!

Horrible service. Left after 20 minutes of being ignored by the wait staff. People on both sides of our table were complaining to management about service. Not a great experience, tried to express displeasure with the server and it didn't seem like it wasn't received and processed.

I took my niece here for her high school graduation lunch....BIG mistake. The food was not very good. I ordered the Triple Hog Dare Ya sandwich with chips (at the waitress' suggestion). The sandwich was advertised to have pulled pork, ham, bacon, cheddar, and crispy onions. I didn't see any pulled pork on the sandwich at all, and the chips were overcooked. When the waitress came by and asked if I liked the chips, I told her no and she just said, "Well I guess it's just personal preference". She didn't offer to replace them with fries, like I thought she should, but whatever. And before we were done eating, without asking if we wanted anything else, she brings out the bill and lays it on the table. So I guess she didn't want us to order anything else. I forgot why I don't like Applebee's, but today's lunch reminded me why I avoid this place! I'll be sure to patronize another restaurant next time.

Went there during lunch time and had a pleasant experience. Have gone 3 times at night and every time has been a nightmare. The first time we didn't get seated for 10 minutes because the hostess wasn't paying attention. Then they got my boyfriends and my food wrong so we had to send it back. The second time we went we were seated right away. My boyfriend ordered and beer, we saw it being poured then we saw it sit at the bar for 15 minutes. I had to ask our server if I should get up and get it or if he will. The third time we went everything was good until we got our food. We had to send BOTH of our food back TWICE! Won't be back!! Night staff is very lazy and unprofessional! The manager was the only happy/kind person we talked too.

Well they just opened today, steak was ordered med rare and it came med well and well done but they fix it and gave us the wrong ones to take home, I eat at different apple bees a lot so I'm sure the place would get better once they been open for a while, so I'm pretty sure that by the next time I be there it will be 5 stars. :-)

Honestly disappointing. I've never been a huge fan of Applebee's to begin with , always felt like they had mediocre food with not so mediocre prices, but I had a great experience out in Grand Blanc once I decided to give this new one a whirl. Our server was training someone and the trainee was really nice and attentive but the trainer seemed to care less. The food took a little while considering how slow it was but not too bad. Once the trainee dropped the food off we didn't see anybody for a long time and were waiting to order dessert. The trainer finally came back over and just offered the check, no asking how out meal was, which was pretty gross to be honest, no offering of dessert. Once we ordered dessert he seemed pretty irritated. While waiting for the dessert I over another table complaining about their pasta, which didn't surprise me at all after I read the rest of these yelp reviews. Dessert came out after a few minutes and he dropped the check off and never came back to check on the food yet again nor did he offer a "have a great day, come back again". I won't be back again. The service is absolutely horrible (and I've waited tables for 9 years so there is no excuse for this lazy complacent behavior) and the food is mediocre at best. Spend $5 extra dollars and have an amazing meal at outback across the street. They never disappoint.

My fiancé and I were so excited when this location opened because it's within close proximity to our home. During our first trip to the bar,we went with my parents to have some drinks and appetizers. The service was absolutely horrible- the bartender didn't bring over menus, never came back to take our orders, never gave us silverware, never checked on how the food was, and only asked my fiancé if he wanted another drink but ignored the rest of us. We decided this bartender may just be having a bad day so a few weeks later we returned (this time just myself and my fiancé) and had the same bar tender- the service was even worse!! I knew we were in trouble when the couple next to us was complaining the wrong food order was put in then was complaining they were never given silverware. The gentleman next to them was upset he was never waited on. We waited patiently and finally got our drinks but one of the two was not the correct beer (I ordered a miller and got some type of apple cider). When I brought it to the bartenders attention, she took the beer, poured it out, and started doing other tasks and didn't give me the correct beer until my fiancé was half way finished with his. There was no apology and this time with a full bar, the only person receiving the bartender's attention was an obviously highly intoxicated and overserved man. As the bartender flirted with him for tips, the rest of us continued to wait....and wait.....and wait. I would love to give this restaurant a third try but I just can't bring myself to come back especially for as long as this very inattentive bartender is still there. I also know the other customers that were sitting next to us were equally as annoyed. Very bad first impression for a new restaurant location.

We just moved into the area and this is the best Applebee's we have been too. Food is always like we ordered and delicious. Service is excellent and the majority of the time a manager doesn't round so you can get $5 off the next visit. (this occurred three of the five times we've been there) The atmosphere is fun and loud. The decor is based off everything Livonia.
(4)Mel N.
Went in for late night snack attack with friends. Server was nice, fun and offered some great suggestions for our appetizers and cocktails. The Pearl Island is now my "go-to" drink there! We couldn't decide on what we wanted so our server suggested their late night 1/2 off apps and their Build Your Own sampler which had a lot to offer. Food was delicious and we actually loved that the items came out separately which allowed us to share and enjoy the food while hot. Definitely a place we will back to very soon!
(5)Brittany R.
i can't stand applebees, and this location reminded me why. my boyfriend and i went here on a saturday afternoon for lunch, and were greeted promptly by the hostesses at the front. when i got inside i was very impressed by how well they did with the decor for this new location. we were seated and our waiter came to our table quickly to take our drink orders. it took me a while to figure out what i wanted to eat, but i went with the quesadilla burger and fries. we waited a while to get our food, while we listened to the waiters and waitresses complain about each other, and their job in general. i also observed that the bartender was working hard to get drink orders up, and had to keep yelling out to the servers to come get their guests' drinks. the servers would yell back "I HEARD YOU!" with an attitude. this place is just a hot ass mess! not to mention my boyfriend wanted to get a lunch combo in which the manager on duty told us "Monday through Friday only" which the menu does NOT state. between the servers being loud and complaining every 5 seconds, and the awkwardness of having to sit and listen to what they were saying, i don't think i will ever come back here. pretty sure this visit has ruined any more chances of me trying applebees again!
(1)Jim F.
Top shelf long Island iced tea only $5 at happy hour. ..awesome, so delicious. This place is awesome, the manager stopped by to make sure everything was good, that means a lot to me.
(4)Cristina B.
This brand new location is absolutely beautiful. Without a doubt the cleanest Applebee's I've been to! While the lobby is lacking, I've been here a few times already and never had to wait long so I don't mind. Service can be hit or miss, but I've given them the benefit of the doubt considering they are still a new location. This location has great TVs to watch the game so be prepared for a longer wait on game days! They also have great coupon specials so look for those as well. Applebee's itself is always changing their menu. My guy and I ordered a spicy shrimp appetizer last time and it came out kind of thrown together. Looked nothing like the picture but at least it tasted good! As for my chicken chicken wrap, it was thrown together as well and fortunately, I wasn't able to eat it as a wrap. The whole thing fell apart when the server set it on the table! I would've asked for a new one but I didn't want to bother our already busy waiter. Despite this, my guy and I each enjoyed our meals and were happy with our overall service. Without a doubt, one of the cleanest Applebee's I've been to and the one with the best food.
(4)Daniel S.
Horrible if I wanted to eat rubber I would chew on my car tire! Who eats this crap it was absolutely awful!!
(1)Tony C.
I'm giving this new Applebee's 2 stars simply because the modern look is a pleasant refresh on all other Applebee's I have been to. I live less than a mile away and have been here about 6 times. I have had poor service every time I've gone there. The last time I went I waited 20 minutes to get a server. I was so fed up I complained to Applebee's on Twitter. Never saw anyone who looked like a manager to complain to. In terms of food--it's an Applebee's, it is what it is....
(2)Erica F.
I am going to have to agree with the other reviews on this new location. Came here once around dinner time, the waiting area was pretty packed. You could feel the negative energy coming from the stressed out hostesses and the annoyed customers. One hostess kept rolling her eyes and giving attitude, didn't like that. Beautiful new location, I just wish walking into the place felt as nice. My meal was pretty good, 3-cheese chicken penne, no tomatoes, okay. The person I was with ordered the bourbon steak and was disappointed there wasn't that delicious sauce all over it and it didn't come out sizzling like it always does. He mentioned it to the waitress and she comes back 2 minutes later with seasonings just put on top of the steak... I took a bite and it was so strong! They just put spices on an already cooked steak? Guess the cooks don't know much about spices, blegh. I went to wash my hands in the bathroom and a hostess was cleaning up, I asked her if she was new and enjoyed working there. She said she transferred from a different Applebee's and it's been busy since it opened. Nice girl, she was one of the hostesses that was just trying to keep things calm. Maybe I will try coming around lunch time to see if it's any better.
(2)Melvin J.
I went there today and my waiter (Tim) was excellent. He made my children laugh by giving them riddles for free refills and even though my food took about thirty minutes the manager (Margaret) came over to check on us and update and brought out our kids food while we wait. The service there was excellent and I had a great time. Thanks again Tim and Margaret, I hope you guys get recognize for this.
(5)Sarah R.
The food is standard Applebee's fare, of course. I ordered Carside-to-Go and they told me it would be about 15 minutes. A few minutes after I pulled into the designated parking space, a girl came out and told me they had to make my salad over because they "found something in it." I'm not sure what the "something" was (a thumb, a frog, a piece of lint, who knows), but I could have lived without knowing it was in my salad. I appreciate their honesty, though.
