I've been looking for a great Mediterranean restaurant in West Lansing for ages. Finally found it in Zaytoons! If you have not tried the Mujadara or Chicken Gallaya, they are a must! Put a little salt on the Fattoush and your taste buds are in heaven!!! I'll be going again & again.

Really good, authentic Mediterranean food for a good price. This is a great lunch place! Flavors were spot on and service was friendly.

Dining here was home away from home, but there's no place like home. I have so many great options in the Detroit area that I don't think this place will get a fair chance with me. Metro Detroit is the mecca of american mediterranean food. (Hope that isn't too distasteful of a pun, I'm corny, deal.) I've had their vegetarian grape leaves which left me wanting my at home Detroit taste. They had chickpeas which was different but not quite great. They lack full robust flavor of brine and lemon. They weren't gross but they weren't anything else either. Also they were half empty. Pack in more rice and add tomatoes please! The second visit I dined in. I ordered a juice and schawarma (sp.). I'm so used to ordering a chicken schawarma (sp.) as a wrap that when served on a platter I almost felt foreign. The chicken was well flavored. Shredded and mixed with what looks like a stew of spices I sat back and enjoyed it. It was a little on the dry side but not lacking in flavor by far. I had the baklava twice and both experiences were insipid. No pistachios. :-/ The hummus was also too mild for me. Turn the garlic up a notch. My juice was it. I've had two and both were made fresh, fast and had great flavor. This place should focus on serving these, this is what they do VERY well. I'll be back but mostly for juice.

This place is a very good addition to the Lansing area! The menu offers a great variety of food items. You cannot go wrong with the kabobs, chicken, steak and lamb. They have falafel, lamb stuffed grape leaves and kibbie as well. Try both styles of house made hommous, garlic or spicy! Chicken Shawarma on rice or wrapped up in a pita. The family platters are a good choice, enough food to eat until you are full and still have left overs for the next day! Will be revisited man times!

I can't say enough about this place...the food was amazing and the staff was awesome! The portions are more than enough and the food is made fresh, including fresh hot bread right out of the oven! I was so spoiled by the staff...best service I've ever had in a restaurant! Highly recommend!
(5)DJ R.
The food is absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!! I went here with a friend on a whim for dinner and was so happy I did! The service was impeccable and the people were so friendly and so fun to talk to! The food was amazing!!!!!! Best I've had in this area and I can't wait to go back. We met the owner/head cook and he was friendly and welcoming. Give this place a try! You won't be disappointed!
(5)Julie S.
The atmosphere is nice it's a busy place good thing. Offer many choices, make homemade items. The reason for a 4 star, when I walked in there were tables available but were all dirty. Staff were friendly but there was a bit of wait for meal. Yes I will go back!
(4)tony b.
Had the chicken Schworma, tabouli, fried Kibbe and spinach pie. The tabbouleh had The right amount of lemon, bulgur wheat and mint it was very good. They serve the Schworma on a plate with rice and hummus all good as well The only complaint was the spinach pie which was sautéed spinach served in a pastry puff not typical and not very good The atmosphere was nice so all in all a good place to go

Simply awesome - great taste, very fresh, generous portions, and fantastic prices. I'll even go as far as to say they may have taken the mantle of the best Mediterranean/Middle-Eastern restaurant in the Lansing area. True, Lansing isn't Dearborn, but the city can claim several excellent examples of the cuisine (often specifically Lebanese) and winning that praise is no small feat. If you're in a party of 3 or more, I highly recommend the Zaytoon Family Feast. Be warned, this is a lot of food. "For 3" fed 3 good size guys who still took 3 boxes of leftovers home. It's safe to say 5 - 6 could easily have split the meal. While the Feast is a value, it's more importantly a quality selection of the menu: Hommous, Baba, Tabbouli, Fattouch, Lamb grape leaves, Falafel, Fried Kibbie, Chicken Shawarma, Chicken Kabobs, Beef Kabobs, and Shish Kafta served with Rice and Pita bread. Salads are fresh and crisp, fried items hot to the table, meats expertly marinated and grilled, platters presented well, and the general all around sense of seasoning is conscientious rather than routine. The kibbie and chicken kabobs are particularly good. The hommous could use a bit more lemon, but the wonderfully frangrant olive oil used makes up for it. Bravo Zaytoon - we'll be back, often.

Zaytoon Mediterranean had big shoes to fill replacing the former occupant Benson's Vinaigrette, and so far, they appear up to the task. The food and service are both outstanding. As many have mentioned, they serve a particularly tasty and cost conscience lunch combo of Chicken Shawarma, rice, hummous, and soup or salad. This is offered as a Falafel plate as well. The chicken shawarma may be the best in town, very flavorful and juicy. The management/staff appear to have their act together too. The seem to really care that you are enjoying your food and experience. They are quick to clean up plates and someone always stops by to ask if you need anything. This is especially thoughtful since you order at the counter and your food is delivered to you. Many restaurants would just forget about you at that point.

Not quite clean enough for me. Food was just OK. New Aladdin, Sahara and Woody's rank much higher for me.
(2)Tony W.
Great Mediterranean food. Hummus is superb. Chicken shawarma is excellent. In fact, everything I have had is amazing. Dine in, or take out, Toons is a must.
(5)Betsy C.
I don't think you can get better food for the price. My favorite chicken shawarma and hummus for sure. The staff is friendly and I have always been happy with the food. Great place for lunch!
(5)Bruce E.
I really like this place. The food is good and the people are awesome! I visit them at least once a quarter or so and its been awesome every time.
(4)Terry V.
We ordered Toon for Two. There were 3 of us and we ate as much as we could with enough left over for lunch for two. The food was very fresh and very tasty. I would rank the food here with the best you can get in Dearborn. We would recommend Zaytoon to anyone!

As someone who grew up in the Middle East, I was blown away by this place. At first, the arrangement of lining up ordering didn't sit well with us, as we felt pressured to order quickly since people were waiting behind us. But, everything changed once the food came. It was amazing! The chicken shawarma is one of the best I've had, probably the best in Michigan. I loved the fact that not only was the meat tantalizing, but the vegetables, pickles, and little bit of hot sauce took it over the edge. It just brought smiles to our faces. We also ordered the vegetarian platter, beef kabob plate and juices. The kabob was so tender, and cooked perfectly! Normally, when you get hummus or baba gonoush at Arabic places, you just get generic stuff, but this was the real deal. We couldn't stop eating them. My 7 yr old and 2 year old loved all the food, that they just wanted more. We had to order a 2nd shawarma b/c the kids loved it so much. Finally, beyond the food, the service was fantastic. The staff were very friendly and kept checking on us! Overall, we just didn't want to leave the place even though we were so stuffed@! Dont miss out! Our 20 min drive was so worth it, and we would come back here again and again.

Zaytoon is an eclectic mix of chic and casual. The counter where you order and pay is in the farthest place away from the door. You enter, cross the dining room past all the diners, and place your order from the board on the wall. Pay there, as well. There is a deli counter where you can swing in and pick up a quick lunch. I believe the entire menu is available to go, and they do a big take-out service (pick up your own meal). New: online ordering and delivery. I ordered the garlic shrimp and my friend had the chicken shawarma (her favorite). The shrimp was excellent but not enough of it, maybe six pieces. The salad was very fresh, and two kinds of bread were presented; hot rolls and pita. The falafel is excellent! Fountain pop is available, serve yourself. Grab your own silverware and napkins, and seat yourself. But the salad, rolls and meal are brought to your table. The food is very good, the restaurant was busy on a Friday night. Three different employees came to our table to ask if everything was okay, and to see if we wanted anything else. Very good service. zaytoonlansing.com

We just had our first visit to Zaytoons Mediterranean restaurant. And I must say, I'm impressed. The food was outstanding! Although we did have to wait for food for a bit longer than we should, they more than made up for it with excellent service and a great waitstaff that made our visit fun and enjoyable. we will definitely be coming back
(5)Jack R.
Very good food and friendly service. Could not stop eating!!! Nice decor, seating and ambiance. Everything about it was a good experience.

Stopped in for first time yesterday for lunch. Was in Lansing visiting my mother in law and she said we should try Zaytoon. Very glad we did. Place your order at the counter and they bring it to you at your table. Wide variety of items to choose from with platters or individual sandwiches available. I had the chicken shwarma pita wrap and it was very good. The chicken was very tender and had a little bit of heat to it. We shared a large hummus appetizer and it was well worth the price. THe chicken shwarma platter was huge and came with rice salad and hummus. Plenty for at least one more meal. Service was great and all the employees were polite and attentive. Will try and remember this place is in Lansing the next time we head that way. Definitely a go to place in my book.
(4)Erin K.
I am very picky about mediterranean food, I don't like Woody's because their chicken so so dry and not very authentic, but this place blew me away! We had the chicken shawarma and chicken kabobs and the chicken tasted amazing! It was so moist and tender and had authentic flavor. The house salad and vegetable soup were also delicious. They got the lunch rush as soon as we got there but the food came out surprisingly fast for how busy they were. The only negative things I could say were I'm not a huge fan of standing in line to order, it was freezing in there and the empty cabinets in the front of the restaurant looked bad. But these things wouldn't lower the rating of the food at all, it's a must try!
(5)Beth F.
Not only is this the best Mediterranean food in Lansing, but they bend over backwards to make and keep loyal customers. We, at our state offices, have recently discovered Zaytoon's and have made it a regular call-for-take-out lunch spot. Today, it was discovered that the pita was missing for the hommous. They brought it to us! With fresh bread! AND baklava!!! Love, love, love this place! Great eat in as well, good decor and friendly staff. :)
(5)PE B.
Great food! Great Service, Large generous portions!
(5)Joelle R.
Love Zaytoon! We recently ordered their Chicken sampler platter and the veggie platter for a family get together. It was a hit! So much food and variety for a very reasonable price. The service is always awesome and quick, every time I go in. I will definitely be recommending Zaytoon to all!
(5)Moani B.
So glad this place is on the west side of town! It's amazing and I will be back again! While living in downtown Lansing I Frequented Sultans and I have missed it since moving to the west side! However after learning the cooks here and at sultans are related I can enjoy the best Mediterranean food and not have to travel so far! Family style food great service with a smile and a clean place to bring he family Love !! Thank you for bringing your delicious food to west Lansing!!
(5)Kate G.
Stopped here with my family on the drive to canada, and was very pleasantly surprised. Would definitely go back. There was an extensive vegetarian menu for me and they knew what substitutions to make for my mom, who is allergic to gluten. The portions were just right and the service was awesome. I got a quinoa salad expecting a plate of mush but instead it was very flavorful and I would get it again if I didn't want to try the other things. The bathrooms were also clean and the whole place just seemed well-staffed. A great find.
(5)Mike C.
This is a great new lunch spot in West Lansing. The food tastes fresh and the portion sizes were large. I will be back soon.
(5)Joshua R.
Saw the positive reviews and came for lunch. Ordered chicken shwarma lunch specials for $6.99 - came w salad, hummus, rice, and great pita. Everything - but especially the chicken - was fresh and tasty. As good as Aladdin's and Woody's but on the west side of Lansing. They also provided us with free baklava to sample! Everyone who worked there was nice and attentive without being pushy. We will be back!
(5)Tarek D.
Ive had Zaytoon a few times..yesterday I stopped by for a few chicken shawarmas. Absolutely delicious! Very well seasoned chicken, with just the right amount of garlic with fresh parsley, pickles, and pickled turnip. The place looked very clean..so I'll be going back for sure. I also tried their variation on an eggroll that was stuffed with beef..sooo good! For dessert u highly recommend their chocolate baklava.

I was on that side of town, wanted middle eatern, but didn't want to drive back to Aladdin's. Saw a billboard for Zatyoon so headed over. Not some place I would have ever happened upon with its location. Walked in and there was no - Seat Yourself, Please Wait, or what it needs to say 'Wak to the counter to the left' so I looked around confused and unforunately no one said anything to me, despite only having 5 other customers. I almost left because of the stupid set-up and disorganized look to the place. There isn't anything special or attractive about the decor. :/ Food was very quick, I just got tabbouli and hummous, to see if it was worth getting anything more. The food is notably cheaper than most of middle eastern restaurants, but you get less food too. I prefer smaller portions so I appreciate that. I wanted potato kibbeh, but it was off the menu for today. One of the dishes leaked all over the bag and into my car. The tabbouli looked and tasted standard, no complaints, but didn't outshine anything I've ever had before. Hummous was cute in that they put the sumac, some oil (olive mixed with something), an olive, a wedge of beet, and a sprinkle of parsley...maybe a bit too much now that I write it out, but it was nice to get a bit of attention to the hummous. Some places you're lucky to get a dash of sumac. The hummous was nice, more tahini taste than most other places and a touch of sweetness that I really liked.
(4)Eric S.
I have always loved Woody's, but their chicken dishes are not good. Thankfully, Zaytoon fills the void perfectly. The shwarma is freshly sliced from a spit as it should be, and is extremely most and flavorful. The house salad, fresh bread, hummus, and garlic sauce are also spot on. The value is a bonus as well. At $8 for the chicken shwarma combo plate and only $1 for a fountain drink, you cannot beat this place for quality or value for Mediterranean in the Lansing area.
(5)Jonathan N.
Delicious Mediterranean food and great service! The shawarma is a safe bet, but I enjoy asking for suggestions from the staff. Oh and the Gallayas is amazing.

I first tried Zaytoon a few weeks after it had opened. My wife and I had the Zoon for two, it wasn't anything spectacular and very comparable to the other Mediterranean restaurants in the area. Our humus was forgotten as well as pita bread. Needless to say, we didn't return. Our friend with doughy fist and his lovely wife however frequented Zaytoon and could not stop raving about it. It just didn't make sense to me, I trust their opinions and decided to return with them. We allowed them to order, we had the Family Feast for three. I was a bit worried that a feast for three was not going to feed my raging hunger as there were four of us and we tend to eat "very well". I was assured that we would not be able to finish the feast for three. I don't much care for ordering at a counter but hey, I am going to have to get over it. We were seated and were brought our appetizers very quickly. Salads were very fresh and bright, the grape tomatoes were pleasantly sweet and olives were uncommonly good. I'm not a big falafel or fried kibbee person but both were good. Humus was good but the Baba was excellent! If baba ganoush fighting was an underground sport I would bet on Zaytoon's to take make someone lots of money destroying the competition! The main course was served in a huge platter. My dinner companions were correct, there was PLENTY of food. We had ordered a lamb chop for each of us in addition to the feast. These were easily the best lamb chops I have ever eaten (I don't however eat lamb often though). These chops were cooked perfectly as well as the beef kabobs. Chicken kabobs were perfectly seasoned, the shawarma is also the best I have eaten in the area! Baked kibbie was very meaty and tasty as well. Although the items were typical Mediterranean fare, every item at Zaytoon seemed to be better than I had elsewhere. I forgot to mention the delicious warm and freshly baked pita breads served at the beginning of the meal! I am assuming that our first visit was a fluke. Just to make sure that we weren't somehow overpraising Zaytoon's food, we have made another visit in order to check for consistency. We were not disappointed with our pita sandwiches and quinoa salads, also try the potato kibbie, yummay yummay! I don't foresee myself eating Mediterranean anywhere else in Lansing for a while. Zaytoon appears to be doing quite well and I think they will be around for a while.

I must say zaytoon has out done itself. First good thing they did was opening a Mediterranean restaurant on the west side of Lansing. I love the fact that they have specials everyday. Hands down their eggplant stew is outstanding and a must try, Unfortunately they only have it on some days. I also like that they have a spicy hommous option, although their regular hommous is absolutely delicious and leaves you wanting more. There chicken shawarma is also really good and is actually made fresh every shift twice a day. Their friendly staff adds to a great experience making this place wonderful for family and friends.
(5)Taylor A.
Stopped in today to pick my mom up some birthday lunch and was thoroughly impressed. Despite a pretty busy lunch rush, we were in and out quickly. service was wonderful and the Toon for Two was delightful. The beef was incredibly tender and the chicken was flavorful. Would highly recommend this meal to anyone. My boy friend had never had Lebanese food and even he was wowed. There was great variety and a generous portion of everything.
(5)Miss P.
Saturday late lunch and so busy in there. The mujadra, baba ghanouj, tabouli and falafel were amazing. Once you have those donw you can pretty much get away with not great tasting everything else. I mean the stuffed grape leaves, spinach pies, and lentil soup were good but not as mind blowing as the ghanouj or falafel. We got a vegetarian meal for two and it had everything and in generous quanities for like twenty five bucks and easily feeds 3 or 4. So good. Good job guys! What the Fattoush!!!
(4)Claire M.
Awesome food! A little communication needed----don't wait to be seated. Walk in & go directly to the back and to the left to order after you browse menu. food is super good - super fresh - I love it
(5)Eric C.
This place is a gem. It is independent. The owner is involved with the food. The food is absolutely delicious. Among the very very best chicken shawarma sandwiches I have had. It is clear that the people cooking here really care about the quality of the food. We ordered take out and the food was ready promptly. The stuffed grape leaves way above average. Absolutely on my 'must return to' list.
(5)Bill B.
Wow! I love Middle-Eastern food and I've eaten it for years. There are lots of good restaurants near me but this place in Lansing tops them all. A few things stand out. First, the food tastes home-made. A lot of places say that but you can actually believe it here. For example, I got veggie cabbage rolls. Instead of the usual tomatoey recipe I'm used to, this relied on spices and aromatics. Terrific! The crushed lentil soup was warning and balanced rather than being a sea of cumin. Second, Zaytoon is mindful of gluten-free dinners (like my wife). They have an entire gluten-free menu. They also allow substituting rice without vermicelli (little wheat strands); this is almost unheard of at Middle-Eastern restaurants. Last, it has great atmosphere. You walk up to the register and order and they give you a number for your table. You can then sit and absorb the room. It's comfortable, convivial, casual. On the day we visited, there was a sprinkling of college students, single Millenials and families but we older people felt at home there, too. I was totally impressed by Zaytoon. If you like this kind of food and are anywhere in the area, you must go!
(5)J C.
Oh zaytoons. Suppose I hadn't been here in awhile but I was pleasantly surprised on my last visit. They updated the order counter and it looks so nice and much more complete now. The food is still good and service is great. The weather was nice so I sat outside this time and it was great. The only thing I was confused on was I thought the garlic dip was included with the meal but they charged me a quarter a piece this time. Cmon, even most fast food places have stepped away from charging for condiments. I think that is pretty lame. Otherwise I still love this place and recommend it as a dining option for the west side.
(4)Gary H.
I came in for lunch and got a shish kafta combo. The hummus was a bit bland, but the shish kafta was absolutely top-notch, very nearly home-cooking-good, and I say this as someone whose had multiple chances to eat with Lebanese families. My only real complaint is that the only bread I got with my meal was one dinner roll and one small pita- come on, for a combo you need a bowl of pita. The authentic way to eat is to pinch the food with scraps of pita, and there wasn't enough pita to even get through my hummus. But that's my only complaint. Lansing is a city rife with good Mediterranean, and Zaytoon is a worthy addition. It's not the cheapest, but some of its food is in the running for the very best, so it's worth a try. Definitely recommended if you like the grilled meats- I can't wait to have that kafta again. If this place keeps refining its food, and if they get some flavor into that hummus, they'll be legendary.
(5)Kristin M.
Had dinner with my fiancé and son. Ordered the Toon for two. PLENTY of food for four people! The fattoush was best I've had - and I've tried many different fattoush salads. The chicken and beef was so flavorful. The grape leaves were wonderful... I ate them and I normally don't like them. The waitress was very nice and even gave us baklava for free because it was our first time. My fiancé is from Dearborn, so he knows middle eastern food.... He was very impressed and said we will be back!
(5)Tara J.
I So wanted to give 3 stars, but the food was just too good for that (and let's all agree, that's why we're here). We arrived at 12:05pm today (Wednesday), waited in line for 20 minutes, ordered our food and it arrived 22 minutes later. Normally.. I'd give stars for the wait.. And if I wasn't on my lunch break I wouldn't have cared as much. I digress. To what we really care about: the service was friendly. They were frazzled because of the high Flux of customers, they kept it together pretty well. Today was my first time at this establishment and was confused about the layout when I came in. You stand in line and place an order, then they bring it to your table or call your name for a takeout. No big. The food: fan-freaking-tastic. Decent priced. But freaking delicious. We both got the chicken shawarma combo plate. Hefty portions of perfectly juicy and flavored chicken. A very nice portion of amazing rice. And hummus to die for, and again, a nice portion. It came with the hummus and rice and you can choose soup or salad. I upgraded my salad to the tobuli salad, perfect. The food is incredible, filling, worth the wait. Make a carryout order ahead of time and skip the lines. Highly recommended during off-busy times and when a call ahead is made. You will not regret it. Delicious.
(4)Sunita K.
Reading the reviews, went for dinner there!! The wait in line was short, were greeted with a smile and food came quickly!!but the food was not as tasty/flavorful as read in other reviews!!the waiters were friendly, thoughtful and quick!!
(3)Kent H.
If you are looking for great food and great service this is your place to go for authentic Middle Eastern cuisine in Lansing this is your spot! Great charred meats, Lamb chops are to die for. Great kabobs, gyros, kabobs and more. The hummus is so so creamy too!
(5)Hannah E.
The BEST Mediterranean food in Lansing. I've never had better lamb chops! And they also have the best staff, I had a private party there for my boyfriends 30th birthday and their display of food was amazing. So glad Zaytoon is on my side of town.
(5)Joanna F.
Just had our first visit at Zaytoon's. Ordered the chicken shawarma combo and lamb gallaya. The shawarma was good and hubby said his gallaya was pretty good. He said next time he would order the kebab though. The orders came with pita, bread, lentil soup, salad, hummus and rice. They were all good, well seasoned and fresh. For dessert we had baklava and mango smoothie. We were so full after the meal. The prices were good and great service too. The only thing that I wished they had was lamb shawarma instead of chicken.
(4)Catherine F.
This place was great!! The only reason it didn't get 5 stars was that the hummus was a little bland but it was still delicious! We had the chicken shawarma combo and the chicken kabobs and they were great super fast service obviously fresh ingredients will definitely be going back!! Yum!
(4)Doyle H.
Stopped in for lunch, and saw right away that the parking lot was fairly busy. Not too busy, but just enough to let you know that people like this place. A good sign! Being a first timer, I was a little confused, but a quick assessment of the interior workings identified it as a counter-service restaurant. The counter and ordering area even had a helpful list of definitions used, albeit on the opposite wall from the menu. Luckily, I already knew most of the definitions, and used it more as a self-assessing trivia game. =) I opted for the Shwarma "box", the standard of which is chicken. If you're not familiar with "shwarma", its a spit-grilled, spiced meat that's either shredded or shaved for serving. It can be just about any kind of meat; goat, lamb, beef, chicken, turkey, veal, etc. This shwarma is spiced, shredded, chicken. If you order this meal, it comes standard with a Mediterranean lettuce salad, the creamiest hummus I've ever had, and tasty rice. No substitutions with this particular order, but that's cool with me. I also ordered a side of falafel; always a good benchmark on which to judge Mediterranean restaurants. Each table gets a basket of taboon/pita/lafah (flat!) bread. The food is brought out to your table quickly, which is great if you're pressed for time on your lunch hour, or half-hour. After diving in, I quickly determined the entire meal, including the falafels, to be excellent. I was going to write, "for counter service", but this food is excellent by any standard. I think they would make a killing by opening up a Mediterranean fine dining establishment. Great food, excellent prices, outstanding service, all coupled with a bright, airy atmosphere. Makes me wish I lived in the area so I could visit more often.
(4)Dan L.
LOOOOOOOOOOVE this place!!! Great variety! Great food! Healthy too... Service is fantastic as well (extremely friendly and groovy people)...
(5)Beau M.
Oh my god this place is great. The kabobs are perfectly cooked. The lifts is amazing. Humus is great not too thick or too thin. Everything about this place is great. I think the cafeteria style ordering needs to go, but other than that it's great. Very friendly staff. You won't find better Mediterranean food this side of Dearborn.
(5)Dougy F.
I've eaten loads of Mediterranean foods. This is of the best. Definitively the best chicken kabob I've ever had. Usually chicken kabob is dry, this was as tender as dark meat. The price was awesome. The place was very clean and the staff lovely. Will be going back over and over.
