Went for the new gluten sensitive menu and ordered the black angus burger w/ gluten free bun and a side of grilled asparagus. Order was prepared correctly, the burger ws hot and tasty. The.waiter was educated well about the gluten sensitive menu.

Not sure what I was expecting, but Yelp was really off the mark with this one! This is like a run-down, dark, dumpy Chili's-esque restaurant. I do feel like some of the reviews regarding the hostess are a bit nasty and uncalled for. The elderly hostess we had was lovely and nice. Pros: -cheap prices!! Love the all-day Sunday HH deals. Dinner for 2 was about $40, and this included an appetizer, entree, and drink per person. -parmesan frites: I was hoping for the smaller fries (these were kinda thick, but not as bad as potato wedges)...but these were fried to perfection! They were sprinkled with parmesan cheese and came with truffle mayo (delicious), garlic parm (delicious!!), and ketchup (didn't try) dipping sauces. -steak is cheap. $15 for 5 oz. -our waitress was REALLY nice Cons: -french onion soup is meh.. kind of bland. -spinach dip wasn't all that good either, a bit too milky/liquidy for my preference -socal fish tacos: lollllll.. ever since I moved out of SoCal, I've been trying to find a fish taco replacement. This is not it. I should know better though, so that's my fault. The fish was bland and relied on heavy sauce and panko breading to save the meal. -service. was. so. sooooooooooooo. sooooo x100 slow. It's completely unacceptable to leave your patrons sitting unattended for extended periods of time while you sit down and chat with other patrons. 3 stars for food, -1 star for the slow inattentive service..will not be returning.
Just got here and Im already not too impressed by the rudeness of the old hag of a hostess. Hopefully the rest of the experience is better. The only reason I stay is because the rest of my party wants to stay. Finally got seated. Thank god it wasnt by Cruella Deville. Wow, this menu is a smorgasbord of ethnicity. And I dont say that in a good way. Especially when the name of the place is Houlihans. So glad i dont live here cause this place sucks. How are you supposed to trust an establishment that is apparently so good that it has an Irish name but seems to serve something from almost every corner of the world? Dennys is sounding more promising and you'll save more than a few bucks.

How can you not love "Houlis"? Finally they made happy hour 3-close with no breaks in between. My new favorite drink there is the black cherry mojito. There are so many happy hour specials. It's really one of the best places to go after work or on the weekends.
Normally the food here is tasty and the prices are reasonable. The prime sirloin is particularly tasty. The cheap drinks in the bar area are nice and so are the right sized appetizers for $4. The dinner menu is overly ambitious though. The St. George Bank Risotto and Scallops is about the worst main I've had in a long time. Good concept, poor execution. The service is really bad. I've never come here and had a great experience. Generally it's a struggle to get noticed and get your drink order in. Once you're noticed though the service seems to improve, albeit there is never an apology for the wait or an acknowledgment of their lack of attention. Good food + bad service = ok experience. Side note: I see a lot of reviewers picking on the hostess, who's been nothing but polite every time I've come in in the last 10 years. The personal attacks on the internet are pretty cowardly and certainly unwarranted.

They *fixed my Long Island! Don't worry I'm not driving. Have what you want. Been eating here since 16 haven't been disappointed yet! I had a great happy hour here, my waitress was great! The ahi tuna sald was pretty good, my only suggestion would be to use mixed greens instead of iceberg lettuce. The prices are fair. The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable. I'd take almost anyone here.

Great burgers, tender steaks, and awesome fries with all the sauces!! They have really good hummus and spinach dip for appetizers! I liked the Parmesan garlic aioli the best. You can tell that all the food is made from scratch!! Definitely a place to go that has a little bit of everything!!

Surprisingly expansive and creative menu, but a tad pricey for the quality of the food. Some of what I've eaten here in the past has had strange tastes, and the ingredients, to me, taste very processed and unnatural. Still, there is so much to choose from, and you'd be way better of at Houlihan's than other mall chain restaurants. Another item to note is that the service is ridiculously and inexplicably slow! I came on a Sunday afternoon recently with maybe two other tables with patrons in the entire place, and a full staff, and it took well over an hour to get food.

I was very unimpressed when I came to this restaurant this past Wednesday, the hostess was extremely rude and when I requested to sit a booth that was open she said no because she just sat someone in his section. I personally think it should be about what the customer wants and they can work around the rotation in the sections or whatever .

First time writing a review. Just had the old ladies , that Philip mention below, help sit us . Boy was he on the mark. Called ahead and since I did not say "bar "She put me on the list in the dining room. When I told her we wanted to be in the bar. She stated she would have to add us to the bottom of the list. When i called she never stated what "section" I wanted . Didnt know there was two list going. She was really rude to me. (Older lady with white hair). So we went to the bar while we waited and order a drink. One of the waiters banged into me and spilled a beer all over me. The older ladies were more concern about the floor then my jacket that was fully covered w beer. Another waitress helped me out and got me a towel. The bartender was great and when we sat down our food and service was great. No manager came over to apologized again though. If the owner is smart they will get rid of both the hostess. Neither once smiled or was friendly while we were there. Get to go home now and wash my coat and hope it comes clean.

I really enjoy Houlihan's. Even though it's a chain, it's still one of the only really original restaurants on the west-side. They do a great happy hour with drink and appetizer specials. Their menu is huge, but full of really interesting, well-made and great tasting food. I love their Bruschetta with goat cheese .... mmmmm, so good! The Chicken Lettuce Wraps are also amazing - great flavor, beautiful presentation. My boyfriend has been highly impressed with their French Dip. Service can be hit or miss, but the atmosphere makes up for it. I don't think it's boring at all ... it's much classier than Friday's.

Really liked the food. It was different and fresh, but was so unimpressed by both the actions of the wait staff and customer service that I feel no option but to rate it poorly. The menu claims parties of 6 or less are guaranteed their lunch in 20 minutes or less or lunch is free. The menu used to say that the 20 minutes started when the waiter left with your order, but I see now that they changed it. Five of us wanted a quick lunch between meetings. We ordered the French dip, 2 chop chop salads, fish tacos and a chicken wrap. There were no appetizers. After 25 minutes of waiting, we called it to our waitresses attention. She giggled and said the kitchen clock did not agree with the time we had, and said maybe our waitress had to get drinks, or bring food out or take another order. We argued that the menu said the menu said that didn't matter. She said she would see what she could do. We told her we were running late and she asked if we would like to order dessert... Um. No. We again voiced our meals should be free and she gave us coupons for a free appetizer on our next visit....she then said we should have told her we wanted the 20 minute lunch, even though the menu guaranteed it for anyone between 11 and 2. I wrote to customer service online and included a receipt # and date and time... Never heard back. That was in December and it's now February. Funny thing is we do a lot of meetings with consultants and other government workers.... Guess we won't be doing it there! I won't waste my $ on helping a business that doesn't care about making things right.

We tried this mall restaurant for the 1st time last night & were pleasantly surprised. I thought their menu was very expansive. The drink menu is a solid 2 pages, and there are at least 15 different small plates you can try without getting into their main courses. I didn't even go that far since I hit the small plates. The parmesan fries were wonderful. The mini burgers rock w. their special sauces (Ranch, a parmesan-mayo mix & a special BBQ [which I could do withouth]). The Meal Deal looks good, but it's only good Sun. & Mon. We will definitely go back for this 3-course offer.

This is about as good as a chain can get. The food was fresh and hot and really tasted like it was put together from scratch. The French Dip was awesome but next time I would order it without cheese. It was a good quality cheese, but just a little too pungent for this sandwich. It really detracted from the roast beef and tender-crispy French bread. Their top-notch service was fast and very friendly. In fact, the manager stopped us on the way out to make sure everything was ok. Next time I'm in Lansing, I am definitely headed back to Houlihan's.

We go there and always get the Lavash and spinach dip, it is excellent!! They also had a salad that had calamari and banana, sounds weird, but if you like calamari it is cooked perfectly not rubbery at all, great flavor combo. We also have had the burgers on a great hand made bun, yum. And the bar has excellent martini's. Oh 1 more great thing, not sure if they still offer it, if not they need to bring it back, dessert deconstructed smores. to die for!!!! We have never had a bad thing yet.

The food was good but service was horrible. It took about 6 minutes before some one noticed we needed to be seated. 10 minutes before someone took our food order. Just as my friend asked me if I wanted to go somewhere else the waitress finally came over. And the best part is we were 1 of 4 tables so I will never go there again.

One of my favorite places in Lansing. They have the BEST happy hours (4-7 and 9-cl) and an amazing, affordable menu. I've never had a bad experience and always have a great time with my friends. Also, if you sign up on their website you'll receive special deals on Wednesdays!

Don't even think of getting a gift certificate here - you are banned from any specials if you try to use your GC and are better off dining without one. Customer service is nil - we were forbidden to use our GC towards the Sun/Mon meal menu even though you didn't need any coupon to order the special - every other diner could order it off the menu (so why couldn't we use our GC towards it?). Management would not budge, even in this economy and never followed up by phone, as promised. We will never return and we will never get or give a gift certificate again. Waitress gave minimal service since her tip was already guaranteed to be 18% per the GC. The entire experience made the food taste bad - I'm not even sure if it was good food or not, but the experience surely left a "bad taste" in our mouths!

I have always loved this place, even though I shy away from chains. They never fail to deliver great food. The only suggestion I have for Houlihan's is for them to add some lower calorie menu options. Even the items on the menu that sound healthy aren't. There are not many meals here to be had for under a 1,000 calories.

I went to Houlihan's today for the 1,035th time for happy hour. They have tasty food and great happy hour specials. I really like their creative mixed drinks, today the hit was the basil strawberry lemonade. My main complaint is with their service. We had a large group coming, but since less than "half" of the group was there they would not allow us to have a large table. Then once the majority of the group arrived, we asked if we could move to a larger table. The waitress insinuated that we were trying to take the table next to us away from another customer (which we were not) and finally offered to move some other tables together. The waitress was very busy and did not check on our table as often as she should have. At the end when we asked for our bills, they had taken the liberty to write in the gratuity (by hand) on the checks. Funny, because I would have given more than they had written- but since they had already decided- fine.... I'll go with what they wrote in. Next time I might go somewhere that is a little friendlier.

I'm not too impressed here. There was a huge crowd of people being SO loud near us, I literally couldn't hear my fiancé sitting across from me. The food was okay. The service was great. Maybe it just ruined the experience because of those people. I will try to go there again some other day.

I went out to Houlihan's with a few friends earlier this week. I had a free entrée coupon for my birthday so I thought I would use it. We were seated within just a few minutes, they graciously allowed us to move to a booth after we decided we would be more comfortable there. We ordered the tai wings as an appetizer and I had the steak wedge salad while the other girls got the potato enchiladas. All of the food was amazing. I can never get enough of the tai wings. Our server was great. She was timely, kind, helpful, and had a great personality. I think the free entrée on your birthday is incredibly generous of them. I will definitely be back!!
