I'm truly disappointed in Yelp for leading me here. I'm not exactly sure what is going on with this place. The type says 'Chinese' and I visually confirmed the owner was of that decent on my visit. The menu was boring, small, diner-like and EXPENSIVE. I ordered a basic breakfast. Two eggs, a couple of very small, undercooked pieces of bacon, and a small scoop of hash browns with coffee cost me $9. The location seemed a little sketchy inside and out. The waitress was very nice and friendly. Per Yelp, this was the only place around. If you are in the area and need breakfast, good luck!

I highly recommend D & L for breakfast or lunch. Excellent sandwiches & homemade soups. I've always gotten an excellent meal and the gave a great down home atmosphere at reasonable prices.

After picking me up at the airport, my parents took me to this quaint cafe for a quick bite to eat before hitting the road. In general, I feel that these small diner-esque places can be a little hit-or-miss, depending on the wait staff and who is in the kitchen. I am, however, happy to share with fellow Yelpers that this place is a definite hit! Our waitress, who I imagine had been on her feet since the morning shift (we were there around lunch time), was chipper, friendly, very attentive, and very helpful. And, on top of that, about halfway through our meals, the head cook (and I think the only cook, as well as co-owner) came by our table to check on us and our meals -- what great service! On the food side, our group stuck with a "breakfast-for-lunch" theme, ordering omelettes (which are made to your specifications -- egg whites, no cheese, etc.), hash browns, home fries, fresh fruit, and cinnamon rolls. Call us hungry or credit the food, but I don't think anything lasted on our plates more than 10 minutes; it was all really delicious and very well prepared -- good portions, too. Topping the experience was the fact that they had Sriracha available, which I'll take over plain hot sauce any day. After such a good meal, we may just have to make a return trip for breakfast before I fly back home! As a final aside, I did overhear the waitress telling another customer that they are no longer offering their Chinese dishes -- it is still the same cook, but I suppose that the kitchen may have been too tiny and perhaps, the ingredients too vast to stock and keep fresh.

Years ago, my husband and I came to Heart and Soul Cafe weekly for breakfast. We couldn't rave about this place enough and took friends and family here to show them why we loved it. We no longer patronize here as the quality of the food, atmosphere, and staff have tremendously taken a dive. What once were our favorite meals are prepared nothing like they use to be, and sometimes just taste funny. Their homemade sausage that was out of this world, for instance, now is more like Jimmy Dean microwaveable patties. Their biscuits (and gravy) are typically hard and dull. The waitstaff is dreary, constantly complaining about business openly. I started feeling guilt tripped into leaving larger tips. We use to leave happy and full, but began leaving annoyed, feeling slightly like we needed a shower, and still hungry for something more edible.

Cute little cafe! The outside has multi-colored lights that made the restaurant jump out at me in the dark. The inside is small, but clean and bright with light yellow walls. The server and owner were very friendly. Excellent breakfast, very affordable- most of the items were under $6. My only complaint with the breakfast was the hashbrowns were not crisp or brown. Next time I will try their homefries. The coffee was good and they kept my cup filled up. The lunch/dinner menu is an interesting mix of typical diner food like hamburgers, sandwiches and wraps and a large Chinese section! I would like to come back and try the chinese food. All of the lunch/dinner meals were around $5 also. Great value for the price.

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
