People come here with the munchies. They come here because the food is cheap. They come here because this is really the only joint in G-Rap open 24/7. They come here not necessarily because the food is good but because in the middle of their 3AM revelries they feel the urge to wolf down a bacon and cheese double steakburger and a strawberry banana milkshake with fries. They take too long to make your food and serve you here, given the fact that you are ordering FAST FOOD. But when its 3AM and your friends that you came with are slap-happy and probably drunk, who actually cares? I'm fine with giving steak and shake my money. Not for the food, but for the good times with friends.

The food at Steak N Shake never changes, so you always know what you're getting. The service is good. I've been here several times in the last 5-6 years and I believe the same girl has served us every time. Not the best burger place in town but definitely better than other fast food choices. I also like the shoestring french fries.

What can you say about Steak n Shake? If it's late at night and there's not a Denny's next to you, you don't have much choice. And it's probably better than Denny's anyway. Otherwise, you can do better.

Great Shakes. Not-so-great everything else.

I will forever be a Steak n Shake advocate. Late summer nights with a slowly emptying wallet call for a grilled cheese, cup o' coffee and a cigarette and this is the place. So what, it's a chain? It is still ever so tasty [and cute].

Typical Steak-N-Shake. My only complaints are 1) there is too much bun for as thin as the burgers are (I want to taste more meat than bun, for goodness sake) and 2) they don't use real malt in thier malts. I couldn't taste enough malt so I asked for a little more that I could add myself; the waitress brought out a little container of some awful-tasting brown liquid. That's UN-AMERICAN!! :)

Worst Steak 'n Shake I've been to. I've only been to the drive thru at this particular Steak 'n Shake - not only is it ridiculously slow, but they screwed up my order two of the last three times. My latest (and final) visit takes the cake - I ordered a cheesy cheddar burger combo...opened up the burger and there was no top bun - how does that even happen?!?

I've been to Steak 'n Shake before, but this place almost seems like an entirely different place. The service is painfully slow and the servers seem like they are annoyed that the patrons are there. The kids got the kid's menus, but were not given any crayons. Not a huge deal, but when my wife asked for some, they essentially threw them at her (no "oops, sorry" or anything.) Rude as hell. The food was abysmal and took forever to come out. The fries came out with chunks of other fried bits in them and the burgers/dogs were next to inedible (our 3 year old refused to eat anything except for a few fries and it has to be bad for him to refuse chicken tenders.) Never again. There are just too many other options nearby.

Have always loved this place. Quick, good priced, and menu variety of burgers, chili, and shakes!! I highly recommend the patty melt and the turtle shake. Another great thing about this place...they are open 24/7. So if you go to a late a movie or you're up at night...you can stop in for a snack. :)

I love Steak n Shake, but this location is horrible. Service is slow no matter what time of the day it is. I used to come through after work on my way to class, and I would wait 5-10 minutes in the drive thru for a milkshake and onion rings. We went in as a group after work the other night, about 12 AM. It was late, there were two waitresses on shift, one manager, and two cooks. That's more than we ever had when I worked at Burger King, and the lobby was pretty empty. We only ordered 3 milkshakes between the 6 of us, and those took 15 minutes to arrive. The food itself took another half hour to arrive, half of which had to go back because the orders were so messed up. Our waitress couldn't keep anything straight, and forgot several items as well. My boyfriend wanted to get an order of chicken to go before we left, which she charged him for but never put the order in for. We were able to get it taken off, since we didn't feel like waiting another 20 minutes for them to make it.

This was my first experience with any Steak 'n Shake. I was very disappointed in the shake I ordered. I also have to say the girl, Ciboney, had no idea how to make change. My bill was $3.91. I handed her $5.01 and she gave me $.09 in change and promptly disappeared. I saw her in the back (chatting with another girl) and called her to the front giving her the $.09 saying, "you owe me more than this". I showed her my receipt and reminded her how much I had given her. She did see my point and gave me $1.00 from her pocket. I have a feeling she know what was happening the whole time and had already pocketed the dollar. I called the store and the manager seemed genuinely sorry and offered to do whatever he could to get me to return. THAT PROBABLY WILL NOT HAPPEN. As I said to him, "28th Street has many places to eat". When I got home, less than 2 miles away, I started to eat the shake. It was nothing more than a glass of milk. I had ordered a Turtle Shake but there was no caramel in the cup at all. Just fudge in the bottom. I could have made the same thing at home with milk and chocolate syrup. Complete and through disappointment is all I can say about this place. They need to train and closely monitor their help, from the order takers to the people who prepare the food.

Walked in behind a party of 6. They and I were only ones in reatuarant other than two people at the counter that the manager was talking to. Was seated and walked out after 10 minutes without even my drink order being taken. Numerous wait staff standing wlaround talking.

Drive thru is a joke. Dude kept saying he couldn't hear me-wether it was technical issues or lack of English skills (I'll leave you to decide). But being forced to yell an order out into a device that is obviously having issues is not my idea of a welcoming experience that I care to repeat in the future. Steak 'n Shake used to bring it when it came to a great fresh burger fix but times have changed and I could easily find a better burger with way less hassle.

Never again. Waited at the door to be seated forever, waited at the table for the waitress forever. Everyone is cranky. Our waitress had icky nail polish, and should wash her hands. She carried drinks under her arm. She dropped stuff at our table and didn't say a word.

I seriously have not been to a steak & shake in a long time - my sis had a free bday burger so I went with her. I had the garlic burger and really liked it!! I usually like thick cut fries and theirs are skinny but they were still really good and the malts we had rocked! Our server was great - nice and friendly and she interacted well with kids at another table. Overall I expected a cheap meal but I ended up really liking my burger! And I had a $4 burger/fry deal! Cheap and better than your average fast food place!

Alright I have no complaints for this place. This place is cheap and its $4 dollars for a meal with fries. I mean you get such a good deal for your money. I haven't had one problem with this place and don't think I ever will. Love the fact it's 24 hours and like the happy hours. The fries are great and so are the steak burgers. Definitely will be a frequent visitor.

My sons and I stopped in to order 2 shakes for carry out. After standing near the registers for nearly five minutes, nobody had acknowledged us standing there. We left and so I drove through the drive thru and asked to speak with a manager. I drove around to the window where I was greeted by an employee. She said the manager was coming. I asked how the carryout window process works, as there were several servers hovering around the back of the restaurant who just ignored us. Regardless, I never spoke with a manager and I never ordered my shakes. Maybe it was bad timing on my end, but the lack of service prompted me to: 1) Post this review 2). Buy shakes from Culvers 3). Avoid Steak and Shake moving forward.

Food is good, service is NOT! The time on my receipt is 4:38:54pm I received my shake in just a few minutes. I sat down and got on my phone for a while, people watched, etc. after a while I realized that I'd been sitting for quite some time. I went to the register, there was no one there. I saw the cashier in the back in aher acket, guess she was on break or off. I called to someone and told him I had been waiting a while and would my burger be up soon, I was nearly halfway through my shake. He asked several people then finally the waitress came over and asked if I was being helped. Finally she went back and got a bag of food for me. Luckily I checked it, they forgot my lettuce and tomatoes. Needless to say, I took notice that the man on the grill had just taken two parties off which they used to make my burger. He then put two more on afterward. A lady came up after me to inquire about her food. There was also a family of five that was seated while I was waiting, I don't understand why the man on the grill was only making one sandwich at a time. Oh and by the way, I checked the time when I got my order finally... It was 5:00pm. I gave 2 stars because the shake was good, burger would have been great but it was a bit greasy.
