Greek Cuisine
Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.
Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. One thing which most people like about these authentic Greek dishes is abundant use of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt. A smart mix of few ingredients can virtually take you on the pebble streets of beautiful city of Greece.
For those who don't have time to enjoy fine dining should try tasting the famous souvlaki with pita which is type of meat dish, also a trademark Greek fast food. For those who are vegetarian, or vegan can try different versions of Greek Salad. So, if you wish to enjoy a hearty yet healthy meal that tastes divine then try dining at the best Greek restaurant in your city. Greek cuisine not only tastes good but also help maintain your body in a natural way through healthy diet.

When I was in college, this was the best Greek food around. Sure, it's no Greektown food (Detroit or Chicago wise), but it was still good and the prices were affordable on a college student's budget. Wait staff was pretty good and attentive usually. I think I only had problems with someone not being around once. I don't know what Steve is talking about-I thought their Avgolemono soup was good, and it's been my favorite soup since I was about 5 and had it for the first time in Greektown (the Detroit one). You could call me an Avgolemono soup connoisseur, I eat it so much. I'll probably go back there next time I go to K-zoo. My boyfriend ate a lot of grilled cheeses there, and he always liked them.

Eh. An average greek diner. I don't see the big deal. Standard fare across the board, and the coffee was foul to boot. The avgolemono soup was the worst I have ever had anywhere in the united states. Its saving grace was the waitress, who did a great job and kept us happy. From a food standpoint though, I can't discern any difference between this and any other diner.

I LOVE their pancakes, chicken gyro, and fries! Service was always good too.

What up Tara? These five stars are all for you!

I've never had a bad meal here. The food is inexpensive, plentiful and delicious. My favorite thing to order is the souvlaki, which is grilled, skewered beef on pita bread with tzatziki sauce, tomatoes and onions. It comes with a big greek salad and crosscut potatoes for like, six or seven dollars. I can't even eat it all! The desserts look really delicious, but I never have room for them! The staff there is really nice, as are the owners. Also, the smoking and non-smoking areas are on opposite sides of the restaurant.

Best greek salad in town, Baklava out of this world too. Check it out, family owned & operated!

First time I've ever been disappointed here. Service was unusually slow, part of my order was forgotten, and we had to ask for more waters so that everyone got one. My disappointment with my meal might be my own fault for making assumptions without asking. When you order a gyro, you typically get flat bread filled with gyro meat, tomato, onion, feta cheese, and a yogurt-based dressing. So I figured something called a gyro omelette would be an omelette with similar fillings. Nope. Eggs and chunks of gyro meat. That's it. And since when does sourdough cost extra? I doubt I'll be back any time soon.

Vary unpleased by our visit to this restaurant. The waiter was nice bout slow as all get out. The food tased funny and the breading was hard as a rock. I will never recommend this place to any of my friends. I'm not mad just not pleased. Vary disappointing.

Worst service I have ever had. Arrived by myself as I was traveling and there were approximately 5 tables with guests. Sat for 20 minutes without a server. Got up and left.

My gentleman and I sadly just had the worse breakfast here. The eggs weren't even cooked all the way scrambled. The sausage was not fully cooked through either and the toast was see through because it had so much butter on it. Our server was very understanding and when asking their "manager" what to do she only offered us 20% off when neither of us ate even 30% of our meal! Our plates were still full of food when we returned them. Upon going up to pay for this "refund," we were asked why we were not happy and explained. This "manager" seriously laughed at us and said that she hoped we would come back. I feel terrible for the servers that work under her! Get outta there!

Very friendly service. Drinks came out right away. Waiter had the specials memorized which was helpful. I ordered the gyro sandwich with the Greek salad. Salad came out about 3 minutes later and right after I finished the salad my food came out. Amazing service and very friendly.

I went there for the first time today and like it. Seems that everybody knows everybody which is pretty cool. I wish all places were like that. I had the french toast and it was pretty good! I wish I had what my co-worker had which was a ham, egg and cheese omelette. It looked sooo good and the hashbrowns were really tasty. Definitely check this place out.

Lived in phily and nj area my whole life. Never believed I would find a real Greek diner in kzoo. The lemon chicken soup, spinach pie and the baklava are for REAL. All made with love and caring. can't wait to go back.

I'm sad that I feel inclined to give such a poor review on a family favorite growing up. I grew up going to Theo and Stacy's and after a very bad personal experience at the Portage road one... I thought I'd give this location a shot for the first time. First things first, we were told to pick a seat but never got a waitress... There was a few 'regulars' from the sounds of it, that came in and got served before us. We waited a good 15 minutes before my fiance decided to go to the manager and ask for a waitress. She didn't really say much, no apology, nothing. Good management guys! Finally a waitress came over after walking past us at least a half dozen times. She apologized for us having to wait and said all her food came out at once (it didn't, we were sitting there watching her talk to other customers). It took forever to get our food because they ran out of gravy, so they brought one dish out before the rest was ready. Then when we were paying up front, the manager wouldn't even look at us. We were never rude, just simply asked for a waitress very kindly after waiting for 15 minutes to even get noticed after multiple walked past us. Not cool that a manager is giving customers the silent treatment, even IF we were rude, which we definitely were not. The only thing she said to us was 'do you need a receipt?'. I don't know what's happened to their customer service over the years but I won't waste another dime in either locations. Between my two experiences this year so far... I am astounded that they have so many returning customers. Other than the crap service, they have an awesome and very affordable breakfast. If you have time on your hands (which we didn't with an impatient infant and my father that had to leave for work shortly after we finally got our food) then it's a good place to go for breakfast but wow... they should of taken off something off our bills for the wreck of service... but all we got was an attitude from management and no thank you/have a nice day.

When looking for breakfast after a long night or it's an early morning, this the place to go in Kalamazoo. Prices are reaonable and portions are large.

My family was in Kalamazoo for a wedding for the weekend. During events like this, a big chunk of the family likes to eat breakfast together on Sunday before leaving town, but no one thinks about it before Sunday morning, so no reservations or plans are made. Because of this, we have ended up at Denny's in the past, which my husband and I both dread. Using Yelp, we were able to find this family owned place and called to see if they could take a party of 18. When, you ask? Right now. Because we are excellent planners. Upon arriving at the restaurant about 5min after making that call, they had already pushed together tables for us and had glasses of water out at each seat. They were also in the process of bringing out several carafes of coffee to place along the table for us. They staggered the way they took our order by just a minute or two in order to not just hand the kitchen 18 orders at once, and our food all came out exactly as ordered and in a very timely manner. I had two eggs over medium, hash browns and toast and all were tasty. I would put the food itself at a four, but the fantastic service we received bumped the overall rating up to a five. Not many places would have been able to handle our group so seamlessly with really no notice. This restaurant fed and served our group famously, and in the end it only took our large party about an hour for the whole meal. The place is nothing fancy, but really, fancy is not what I'm looking for at breakfast. Stellar service, family run, clean, and the sweet original sign that must be from the 50's or before - I'm so glad our family ended up here!

Love the Gyros, Greek Salads and Chicken kabobs! Only pet peeve is the cole slaw, YUK! Please Make Fresh Coleslaw! (see my downtown store review for more comments)

Where do I begin? I was in Kalamazoo, for roughly, nineteen days this summer and I visited Theo and Stacy's nineteen times, roughly. A dozen of those at least involved the Gyro. Now, if you're into the shaved, thin sliced, kind of standard gyro (which I am used to), disappointment awaits. This one is served open face with "strips" of meat that is spit cooked and slow roasted, add fresh gyro staples (lettuce, tomato, onion), a generous dollop of their homemade tzatziki sauce and holla! Hot magic. What sets greek salads apart from each other? That's right, dressing. Oh, homemade as well. The french fries you ask, will haunt me for the rest of my life, the good haunting, like Casper haunting. Im thinking it's almost certainly just me, but I've never had fries like these before. I won't go into it, you'll see. The breakfast has never failed and for a diner, the greek cuisine is no joke. If you have an urge for the real, the Combo or the Olympic Sampler can set you straight!

Consistent gyros. The family that owns these restaurants have always been very kind. Wait staff are always great.
(5)Jamie K.
The Greek food is delicious. Pastitsio is wonderful. The lemon rice soup leaves a lot to be desired, though. When they have the chicken and waffles special, the choice is easy. Honey injected fried chicken. Yum.

One of my favorite places to eat breakfast, whether it be for actual breakfast, or lunch. The staff is always friendly food is delicious, it's like a home cooked meal! Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. They have the perfect potatoes, and the French toast is amazing!! Love this place.
(5)Angela W.
What everyone else is saying is absolutely true. Go, get a gyro plate, and you won't be disappointed.

Excellent restaurant with friendly staff and wonderful food. Great gyro and the best tizekie sauce I have ever eaten.
(5)Jeffrey D.
4 Stars, Really Yelpers? Table was greasy, omelet was under cooked and dripping raw egg, hash browns were hardly warm (and perhaps reheated) the toast was not even browned. I am seldom disappointed with everything. Nothing positive to post about the service either.

Gyro and fries: fries were nothing special. I would believe they had only been making them a month. Good fries have a special taste that doesnt require condiements are extra salt. These don't have that taste. Gyro was ok. It may be the best in town but that doesn't mean it's good! some haphazard white onions thrown over the whole thing and some tomato choppings too. The pita was fine, but again, nothing special. The gryo meat was surprisingly good. Seems to be real gryo meat and not just thin sliced beef. Pretty flavorful. I had to add salt though...and more...and it still wasn't right. I was disapointed with the tzatziki sauce. I got a good amount in a to go order, but it was not as flavorful as I like. Tzatzki sauce is the second most important ingredient in a gryo! It's what helps make it unique! I could smell cucumber and dairy and a TINY bit of garlic. The whole thing was VERY messy to eat, though gyros can be, this was the worst. Don't plan on going again, I can get fantastic gryos elsewhere...outside of Kzoo. Not a deal either, $8.

Super-duper consistent, absolutely every time. Always gets my vote for best BLT, best turkey club and their advertised Best Gyro in town. The staff is like an extended family, and they really appreciate their customers. A pair of diners will spend less here than they do at a drive-thru, and there's no comparison for American diner/lunch counter/affordable dinner in Kzoo - this place never disappoints. Terrific value, and the perfect place to make your go-to restaurant when you're not sure what you're in the mood for. Anytime someone suggests Theo and Stacy's, I'm happy to revisit, over and over again for almost thirty years now. These great folks deserve your patronage! Darling old-school townies with a genuine love for this town and its people.

Great classic American-Greek diner. Family run. Awesome traditional breakfasts and gyros at a great price.

I love Theo & Stacy's! Ive never had bad food, Ive always had great service, and Eli always sneaks my daughter free candy when we depart! Stacy is a gem! What lovely nice staff and very clean although admittedly dated environment. Local family owned, and wont break the bank.
(5)Silvia P.
My husband and I go out for breakfast every Saturday. We've hit just about every breakfast place in Kalamazoo and the surrounding area. One thing we like about this place is we usually see Stacy or her sister working.
(3)Jason C.
Great gyros and classic service. A little disappointed there wasn't more Greek cuisine though.
(4)Melissa J.
Amazing Greek food! Love the gyros:)
(5)Becky D.
Why do people love this place? The food isn't good, service is ok, and it is like walking into an ashtray! The food even tastes like smoke. NEVER order a piece of pie; it will taste like smoke with a side of sugar. Ok the breakfasts are really cheap but be prepared to reek afterwards.
(2)Nicole G.
Rules: Only get breakfast or Greek food, unless you're over 60, in which case you'll probably love this restaurant because it seems pretty popular with that crowd. Don't have huge expectations. It's OK and cheap, but it's not great. And I'm only talking about the Greek food and the breakfast reaching the lofty standard of "OK". I've only dared to have anything else once, and it was pretty horrid. Others have backed me up on this. I only ever get breakfast, or the gyro plate, or spinach pie. I do like the spinach pie. It's locally owned, and it is cheap and consistently OK so far as you only get breakfast or Greek food.

I think as soon as I could eat solid foods I was eating Theo & Stacy's gyros (at the downtown location only!). I try to get back there at least once a year for the tradition, for the gyros, and just to make sure it's still standing. I think I've had breakfast here too - but I was 10 years old at the time, so I can't comment. Just go and get the gyro plate and be happy. Mmmmm, tzatziki sauce ... mmmmm.
