Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

My 1st and last time trying this. I went here with my wife and mother in law. It took a long time for us to be greeted and take our drink orders. My mother in laws food was not hot. She said it was warm. They put the wrong order in for my wife and I was able to eat my whole meal before the server stopped by to ask how everything was. They did make it right by making my wife the right meal and not charging us for it but I would expect that anywhere that messed up.

Will rate the food at a later time. We had seen the sign out front advertising that they are open for lunch ( see photo below!), so on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm we went in. There was no one at the front desk at first, but finally someone came over and said she was sorry, but they were only open for a private party. We stated we came in for lunch and she said they are not open till 4 on Saturdays - that for lunch, you can only come Tuesday thru Friday, and Sunday! Misleading advertising is NOT a good thing on my priority list. OK - so we went there today, a Sunday, at 5pm. They gave us a choice to sit in the lounge or the dining room. We chose dining room and they sat us in the lounge and walked away. There was no one else in there. We tracked someone down and said we wanted the dining room, NOT the lounge, so they moved us. There were 2 tables filled in the dining room. We told the server we wanted a large pizza with 3 toppings, and stated we wanted them to be pepperoni, mushrooms, and green peppers. She said, "Do you want just the 4 toppings of pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers?" Ummmm...nooooo...just the THREE toppings. 25 minutes later we were served the worst pizza we have ever had. Little Caesars makes much better $5 pizzas. Thank goodness we had a Groupon, or this would've cost us exactly 4 times that. The crust was dry and tasteless, minimal toppings, those burned crusty air bubbles on 2 of the pieces...really bad. Will never go back or recommend to anyone, ever.

We were with a wedding rehearsal dinner group of 15 adults and 2 kids on a Friday night around 8. I'll start off saying the food was amazing. We ate family style and got a ton of food. Bread appetizer, salad, spaghetti with meatballs, lasagna, and chicken parm, plus more bread with olive oil. Everything was very good and the staff was very attentive and courteous. My only concern with the evening was we seemed to be one of 3 wedding parties in their large room. It was a lot of people at really long tables. There wasn't a lot of room to get around. They set the table for 15, maybe assuming "kids" meant either lap babies or not eating? IDK, but two people ended up at a small, shorter table than everyone else was at. Kind of awkward. I'm sure a family or date dinner would be great though.

This was the first time my family has been at this location. The service was ok. Bruschetta appetizer was very good. I liked the Caesar salad, but was disappointed my food came out right after it before we could finish the salads. The spaghetti and meatballs was great. My wife had the baked spaghetti dish which she enjoyed as well. Desserts were also great (cannoli, gelato). It's refreshing to have a nice dinner option in this immediate area now.

Utter Disappointment: My colleagues and myself enjoy trying a new and local restaurant when we get together for our monthly night out. We've experienced some tasty food around town, but this restaurant will not again receive our patronage. We showed up with a party of 8 this evening for dinner. When we arrived, we had to wait for what I'm assuming was a waitress and the hostess to finish their conversation before acknowledging we were there. The hostess seemed extremely irritated that we didn't have a reservation, which confused us because half the restaurant was nearly empty. A comment was made between employees about "this group of ten showed up without a reservation". We were told that it could be up to 45 minutes before we could be seated, so we sat in the entryway. Another group arrived after us, and walked out because of the wait time. Not too much time passed before we were seated, not nearly the 45 minutes we were originally told it may be. We begin to follow the waiter as he takes us around the outer parameter of the dining room (there isn't enough room to walk between the tables) and seats us in the corner. The typical waiter/patron conversation ensues as he "highly recommends" the Lobster Mac & Cheese and a few other pasta dishes and gets our drink orders which were all waters and a few iced teas and Cokes. The waiter seemed extremely stressed as sweat beaded off his forehead. He returned about 15 minutes later with our beverages, and fumbled over his words a bit before deciding to take our order. Because of the recommendation, 4 out of the 8 of us in our party ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese (This item is $17, and according to the menu is served with bread). I was hesitant on the $17 price tag, and asked the waiter how large the serving was. He told me that it was plenty of food and that he can usually eat a lot and feels stuffed after he's eaten this dish. All of us in our party ordered pasta dishes, except for one who ordered a 12" Caprese Pizza. We had plenty of time for conversation, as it took over an hour to receive the first dishes. The waiter refilled our beverages 5 times during the wait, and kept repeating that the food "should be out shortly". A couple sitting behind us walked out before ordering after sitting at their table for so long with no service. The first two dishes arrived; the pizza and a friends pasta. The pizza was undercooked and came to the table white as snow. There was no color to the crust, or bottom of the pizza. We sat as they ate their food for nearly 10 minutes before the rest of the dishes started to arrive. At this point from being seated to receiving our food, nearly an hour and a half has passed. We were baffled that it was taking so long since half the restaurant was empty at the time. Now onto my personal opinion of my dish: The Lobster Mac & Cheese ($17) was about the size of an average appetizer. The pasta was bland and dry covered with a thin layer of melted cheese. It seemed to have been baked, which made most of the top layer of noodles hard and crunchy. There appeared to be a light coating of a sauce, but most of it settled in the bottom of the dish. I was surprised that the dish only included about a 1"x1" piece of actual lobster. I thought it might be a fluke, so I asked the other 3 who also received the dish and all 3 of them also were only given one small bite of lobster. The dish was definitely not large enough to fill you. We had to all ask our waiter for bread (which, according to the menu comes with the dish). He brought out two baskets of sliced bread and we asked him if it came with any infused oil or butter. He acknowledged that he could bring both out. Putting the oil in a saucer, is, in my opinion, a terrible idea. There is no way to mix the herbs up within the oil without spilling, resulting in oil soaked bread without herbs. The butter was served in what looked to be an ice cream dish. During dinner, we noticed that a colleagues glass was cracked from the bottom to the top, and the waiter showed no concern about the danger of the issue and just brought another beverage. The restaurants decor was nice. I liked the mediterranean feel, however, the tables and chairs are confined and hard to walk through. Our table was covered with 4 table clothes since they didn't fit the table properly. While examining the 4 tablecloths (which were stained in various locations) we noticed that our table was nothing more than a white plastic folding table, which doesn't really portray a restaurant that is trying to look upscale. We ended up spending $42 for two orders of dry mac and cheese, and two cokes with water. I should have read the other reviews before venturing here, as we were all disappointed with our experience. Definitely not worth the outrageous price for bland food, cracked glasses, bad service, and white folding tables covered with stained tablecloths. The 8 of us won't ever be returning to this establishment!

Every visit has improved, the food is always good and the wait staff is friendly. Will definitely return.

With living in Charlotte NC and having endless options of amazing cuisine I've not eaten at too many Italian restaurants as of late. Mangia is the textbook definition of A-OK. The food was good but not knock your socks off good. I had the chicken Marsala which was good - no question - but I've had better. The chicken was tender and had a light breading on one side. It was served with a side of spaghetti marinara and vegetables. The sides were alright but nothing to write home about. The staff was courteous and attentive, providing a high level of service. Our waiter did a nice job engaging us in conversation and taking care of us. For the area I think Mangia may be slightly above par but not enough so to warrant 4 stars. You won't leave feeling as though you've wasted your money but you'll also likely forget about it the next day.

Second visit. Tried some new things, sausage pizza, Italian beef sandwich, calamari, and traditional spaghetti and meatballs, all delicious. We had s group of eight with four kids and our server was fantastic :)

Second time trying this place and it will be the last. I try and be as fair as possible but the food is beyond sub par. We ordered the caprese pizza which was dry and had maybe 4 tiny pieces of mozzarella and a few tomato. It was so disappointing. On top of that, this time around we had purchased a groupon and went with our extended family who had purchased the same groupon-- they literally made us sit separately to use our groupon even though we all were going to have separate checks anyways. It was so ridiculous and pointless (and actually we ordered less since we couldn't sit together and share appetizers). Add to all if that the fact we were there an hour and a half for a pizza . Needless to say, we won't be back! Save your money and go ANYWHERE else!

Probably the worst pizza we have had at a restaurant. Horrible service, we were forced to order right away because of an 18 top. Took 45 minutes to get the pizza. Bad sauce, crust, and the rubbery cheese. Could not even find the toppings.

I think this place needs some Yelp love. I see there were a lot of really bad reviews for the first couple of months after they opened, and I know that's typical as staff is being trained. We went there for dinner tonight and had pizza and it was really good and the staff and service were great. It is very similar to the related LaCantina in Paw Paw, except the pizzas are circular instead of oval. We also had an appetizer sampler that was very good. We haven't tried their pasta but if that is also similar to LaCantina, it's probably also good. It is more expensive than a lot of pizza, but this isn't Pizza Hut and it's going to cost more than that. I think the prices are reasonable for a higher quality restaurant.

We came for the music (great!) and had mediocre desserts. Half of the menu items (dessert) were not available. So, we chose from what was available. The tiramisu was dry and gummy - the worst I have ever had. It was as if the mascarpone layer and lady-finger layers had desiccated. It was artfully displayed, but lacked richness. My friend ordered a cheesecake, but the server had brought out a tuxedo cake instead. Looking back on it, I think the server was tryin to save my friend from a bad experience. We requested the cheesecake - and were presented with a small piece. It tasted stale, as if it had absorbed the flavors off-gassed from an industrial kitchen's refrigerator, with an aftertaste of rancid butter. It was pretty bad - and I thought cheesecake was hard to screw up. The restaurant gets two stars because our server was friendly.

The food is great. This would be a five star if they would TURN DOWN THE LIGHTS. Every table has a huge bright spotlight over it. Keeps us from visiting more offen

My in-laws took me to Mangia while I was visiting Kalamazoo. Disclaimer: Mangia had only been open a few weeks when I visited on a Friday night, so this rating is based on my experience on a busy night when they were still working out the kinks. The good: The service was great, the decor was well done and we were sat immediately when we arrived (thanks to a reservation). Our waitress did a nice job getting our drinks and telling us the specials. Our food was hot and delicious, but then there were some computer problems and took almost an hour to get (see "the not-so-good"). The not-so-good: We waited probably 20 minutes for our salads and bread. Our waitress apologized frequently for the delay and kept our drinks filled. We were there almost an hour before we received our meals. We all had spumoni for desert and it was tasty, but served as a wedge in martini glasses, which made it difficult to eat and almost disastrous to our clothes. I think Mangia has a chance to be an excellent new choice on the west side of Kalamazoo - if they can get the kitchen timing fixed. If you have patience, give them a try!

We went here today with 2 other families and we all had groupons that were going to expire in just a few days. Yes, it clearly states "one groupon per table". We had a party of 10, 3 different checks and had 4 tables that they pushed together for us. We informed the waitress that we had 3 groupons, 3 checks. She said she would have to check with the manager to see if he would honor them since they do say "1 per table". She came back after talking to the manager and told us that he wouldn't honor them as long as we were sitting together.......... no kidding.. we had to separate the tables right then! Seriously?? You should have seen the looks from the other patrons. We waited almost an hour for our meals! I think the manager needs to re-evaluate his customer service skills! Felt sorry for the waitress... even she didn't seem to understand his rationale!

At the time I wrote the review I also forwarded my remarks directly to the restaurant . Three weeks later they still have not responded. I gave them my email address and my phone number. I believe that it is apparent that this establishment is unprofessional and really just does not care what their customers views are.

Two of us went for dinner on a Wed. at about 5pm to beat the crowd. We started off with a cocktail and enjoyed very good Bruschetta appetizer plus the complimentary seasoned olive oil with crusty bread for dipping. For dinner, Salmon came with "chef's vegetables" and some great looking fried potato 1" cubes except they were not fully cooked through. Chicken Parnassian was good with a side of Spaghetti. We each had 1 drink each and only one desert between us to complete the meal. The total was about $63.00. Our server "Jacob" was one of the best we've encountered ever. Despite the undercooked potato's, the distracting flickering lights in our cozy booth and the wobbly table we had, Jacob is proof you can still receive 20% tip even with those house problems. I will only rate four stars because of those issues but I trust they will be fixed. I recommend Mangia - Oshtemo and will return again after the holidays.

Came into the new Mangia for the second time a couple days ago. We came on Sunday night for the $3.50 spaghetti special. We ordered the calamari appetizer and a house salad to split. The waitress was a tad put off that we wanted to split a salad, but being a frequent visitor of both the downtown and Paw Paw location I know the size of that salad and was fully aware of it. We were still deciding on what drinks we wanted so didn't order right away. 2 of us got the martini special and 1 got the pineapple mojito special, drinks were average, $7-$8 is not a price that I would expect a special to be, seeing as how I can go downtown to the Union on Monday nights and get half off martini's ($3 at the half off price) and it is way stronger. Next we ordered the spaghetti special, on the menu it is clearly listed that they have whole wheat spaghetti noodles, which is really great for health conscious individuals like myself and my family, so we decided to take advantage of that. The waitress showed that there would be no problem with that and she did not even indicate an extra fee. But however 10 minutes passed and the waitress came out indicating that they normally don't do that and it would require about 15 more minutes, she was very apologetic, but obvious that she was a fairly new server, aside from that incident she seemed very nervous and shaky. Finally the food arrived and it was brought out by one of the kitchen staff who rudely said "enjoy your whole wheat" as if it was a hassle to be serving that. I've worked in the customer service industry for years and was very put off by his demeanor and thought that the goal of a restaurant is to server your patrons needs and go out of your way for them. With those comments from the kitchen worker, I could hardly enjoy my meal and the people I was with were equally upset. Needless to say, we finished up our food promptly and left. Overall it wasn't the best experience. In Kalamazoo, word of mouth spreads fast and that is how businesses gain new patrons. I will definitely be careful who I refer to Mangia. If you wants life long patrons treat them with respect and cater to there needs, we pay good money to be there! Other notes: The remodel looks great, but the layout of tables is horrible, I felt very crowded and felt like I was sitting on top of the tables next to be. Its very clear the restaurant is trying to pack patrons in like sardines just to make a profit and they care very little about a persons dining experience. Also, the price points of the menu are very pricey, not fit for the west side of Kalamazoo, you may be able to get away with those prices, but over here it is composed of large families and working class individuals. If I was management I would seek to change prices to a more economical level and maybe you will see the restaurant fill up.
