UPDATE: Wow, did they have a bad night! My score went from 5 to 3, but, I'll start with what was good: shrimp fried rice and suchi (even though they forgot the wasabi). My miso soup was tasteless, my fried rice dry, and my Szechuan eggplant had no flavor. While I did ask for it to be not spicy I didn't mean no seasoning at all and on top of that there was supposed to be some mixed vegetables and all there was was celery. As I said in the first sentence I hope this was a bad night because I was very impressed the first time and I ordered said same things.

Ya know I don't know why I keep coming back here. maybe because its just so close to campus? Or maybe because it was the first place I ever went to once I moved here. I kind of rotate between a few different items on the menu because I LIKED them (past tense) but the quality of the chicken in all of their dinner platters is really slipping in my professional Chinese food eating opinion. I constantly find hard bone like pieces and sometimes the chicken just isn't all that appealing. But whenever i get chicken fried rice, its a different style of chicken (not deep fried) and thats ok. I'm just disappointed and sadly may not be coming back here much more.

Really good chicken fried rice and a hidden gem for sushi lovers!! They have so many options for sushi and the two kinds I got tasted really fresh. Try the ones they created!

Hmmmm. I ordered just now, I'm kinda scared of what might happen. The lady working at the counter seems like she's on ecstasy. I kinda just wanted something like a generals chicken combo, but they have too much stuff on their menu. Don't know what to expect at this point. So I ordered roti canai and chicken curry. The girl was high as shit! I called her out on it and she went into the back and didn't come out. I hope she is ok. I had no idea was I was eating. I believe it was gelatin.

That was the worst lo mein I have ever had. I ordered delivery at this place and requested a slightly spicier entree for me and my girlfriend. The meal was painfully spicy. They purposefully put too many chillis in it because it was late at night. Do not recommend.

A great Chinese restaurant right off of Western's campus. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken lunch special. This was a lot of food for a low price. I had to add an egg roll to meet the $6 credit card minimum. I'm not complaining about that. For a little over $6 I had a generous portion of Kung Pao Chicken, a scoop of fried rice, two rangoons, an egg roll, and egg drop soup!

As a WMU alum and former Kalamazoo resident this place is my comfort food. I lived only a 5-minute walk away from here so this was a staple at my house. Whether it the big sesame chicken lunch on a Saturday afternoon study session or some ho fun noodles at 3am after a night on the town, this place always took care of me. Whenever I visit Kalamazoo, Campus Kitchen is always factored into my budget. As mentioned, some of my favorites are the sesame chicken platter (with white rice and crab rangoon) as well as the ho fun noodles with beef. The ho fun noodles are not on their regular take-home menu but is on a big dry-erase board in the building. The overall menu has changed a lot so, if you haven't been there in a while, take the time to look over the menu with some great additions like the ho fun, curry noodles, and some weird but delicious and spicy jalapeno chicken dish. Give the place a try and you won't be disappointed. Btw: take a bite of the creamy rangoon with a bite of sesame or orange chicken and a bite of the white rice. Perfect bite!

Huge portion (their "quart" size for soup is like a giant box) but sorry Campus Wok, the food was yucky. we ordered through Grubhub and didn't finish it. the delivery guy for whatever reason had to wear a conical Asian hat, and since he was caucasian, I find it pretty weird, if not stereotypical and offensive.

Growing up in Kalamazoo, I was exposed to Campus Kitchen in high school and have been a customer since about 2004. In high school, it was a change from parents dinner, McDonalds, and Taco Bell. With all of our innocence, my friends and I knew we couldn't go wrong with ordering from Campus Kitchen. While in college at WMU, it became a late night staple and has remained so ever since. It's not gourmet food but it's good, has big portions, and reasonable prices. I have also noticed that the food has been a lot better since the remodel/reopening in 2012. My go-to is the Sesame Chicken, Crab Rangoon and Mango smoothie.

Best Chinese Food I've had in a while. I almost chose to to come WMU because of a desire to go back. It inspired a love of Schezuan Beef and is a place I can't wait to come back to.

One time while waiting for an order at Campus Kitchen a pledge from a nearby fraternity ran through the dining room in a teal speedo/bikini briefs saying "Happy Easter!" It was so funny! Nothing to do with the food or service but that memory just really stands out in my mind. When I was in school Campus Kitchen was open late and we'd get it delivered after being out at the bar. Nothing like getting some Crab Rangoon after a night of drinking. If we didn't make it there before going to bed we'd get it as hangover food which was just as amazing. Good portions, nice prices and friendly service.

Good Inexpensive American-Chinese Food...even at 3 in the morning. Their crab Rangoon is the best.

Campus Kitchen is what I like to call "cheap Chinese". It has all the basics, cheap and mostly cary out. Love the late hours, large portions and delivery. My food always arrives quickly and hot. It's close to campus and yummy.

Okay, sure this place has greasy food. Who cares? It's delicious. Campus Wok (though it was Kitchen when I knew it) quickly became a staple for me and my friends my freshman year of college at WMU. We loved being able to order late night if we wanted to. It was perfect for the crazy college schedules we kept. My love affair with Campus Wok continued until I graduated, and I even had it on a few visits, mainly for the nostalgia. I always liked the Chicken Fried Rice the best and General Tso's Chicken. MMM. Just talking about it is making me hungry! I moved to Chicago after school and have yet to find a Chinese place I enjoy as much as I enjoyed Campus Wok. I also really miss being able to order food past 9pm during the week. Thumbs up also for the chicken noodle soup, which was not at all like your average chicken noodle obviously, but very good. Wonton soup was good and I also enjoyed their Spring Rolls. Boy, do I miss Campus Wok!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
