Love, love, love the food here!! Favorite is Drunken Noodle with Chicken!! If your afraid of spice get mild!! I prefer the medium, but it packs some heat. The crab rangoons are very good too!! I've had good experiences with dine in and carry out! Yummy!!

If you ask for "Thai Hot" be ready for some serious heat! I love that this is the only place I know of in town where I can go and get something seriously spicy without apology or lots of warning. Not a lot of Thai food in Kalamazoo and everything outside of Bangkok Flavor is a sad comparison. Seriously some of the best food in Kalamazoo. Dining in can be a bit hectic and cozy (it's a small space) but take out is available and it's always ready to go in 20-30 mins (I typically call ahead as there is not much room to wait inside). I've had pretty much everything Vegetarian on the menu and it is all great. The Drunken Noodles and Jungle Curry are two of my favorites. Do yourself a favor and give this place a... THAI

Been coming here for 10 years. Since new owners several years ago this place hAs taken a slow turn for the worst. Portions are smaller with inconsistent flavor and less meats, price has gone up and service has began suffering for lunch. I know the Thai craving and this place will do for that but go to Thai flavor if you really need the old owners knowledge of how to run a place and eat good Thai food. This place will do in a pinch though.

I have searched a long time for a Thai place locally that compares to my beloved Jitlada in Chicago. This place fits the bill. The Thom Ka soup is spicy and delicious. If you don't like spicy you might want to ask for mild. Everything else was fantastic as well. I ordered a dish of chicken and bell peppers which was nice and spicy and very delicious. I got the Thai iced tea, Which was a nice palate cleanser for the spiciness. My husband ordered the duck which was marinated in spices and perfectly cooked. I will be going here again and again to satisfy my Thai cravings!

Probably the best of the Thai options available on the area. More traditional than others with good flavor and their spice level is great and actually spicy! I have tried many things on their menu and not many disappoint. My go to for any Thai restaurant is Tom kha, rangoons and green curry. All great here my only concern about the green curry is that they seem to put green food coloring in the curry and if you go to eat it the next day it does not look the least bit appetizing. Also not sure why they add the food coloring. First time I've seen a Thai restaurant feel the need to add coloring.

Pretty good Thai place that's close by and reasonably priced. Have never actually eaten there but get takeout a few times a month and it's pretty consistent. They also offer a discount if you pay in cash which is a nice touch. I get the curry pad Thai and it's always a good portion and filling. Would recommend if you're in the area and looking for a Thai fix

This tiny Thai restaurant NEVER disappoints. It always satisfies my craving for fresh Thai food with the perfect amount of kick. I have visited this place 5-10 times, and besides the inconsistent service, (the lunch service staff is less attentive than the dinner service staff) its food is always on-point. Pros: Big portions Fresh ingredients Expansive menu for those with dietary restrictions REAL spice levels (not for noobs) Try the divine house-made chili sauce Cons: Small seating area Average Thai iced tea Inconsistent service I adore the drunken noodle dish, but my GO-TO is the curry fried rice with shrimp with a medium spice level. This dish has become one of my favorite comfort foods with its savory taste and creamy texture. That coupled with the light coconut ice cream which has real pieces of coconut flakes is my go-to self-care meal in Kzoo. BRB MOUTH IS WATERING.

Another great time here. I visited it during rush hour and quickly noticed it was short staffed but I was patient because i had good company with me. One worker had the role of greeter/waitress/busser and juggled her tasks very well for a rush hour; she deserves a medal lol. Food arrived promptly and still hot. I ordered the Gang Gai to be made hot(+) and it was delicious, the heat there is not for the faint of heart but made me happy because I love spicy foods. Next time, I'm trying thai hot. It's worth to note that I used this restaurant to introduce thai food to my grandparents-in-law who love spicy asian food yet never had thai before and i'm like, I have to stop this travesty. My grandfather-in-law said about the "Mango sticky rice" that it's the best thing that's happened to rice and I would agree. For me, it's worth ordering every time

I LOVE this restaurant! Be careful with lunch timing - the tiny seating area is often full. I love the massaman curry and almost never waiver. Don't worry - I share with friends so I can enjoy their other terrific menu items. I do love their spring rolls and crab rangoons. I usually order my items 'mild plus' to 'medium' and that's hot enough for me. I have never left dissatisfied! I will surely be there agin soon!

After reading 4 star reviews I was excited to try this place out. The staff was friendly. Quick service. Clean restaurant. Cheap prices. The food was not good however. The chicken was indelible. The food reminded me of cafeteria slop. I may be too critical here but I am comparing it to similar type restaurants around the country.

I have been going to Bangkok Flavor for years. As stated many times, there are very few Thai options in Kalamazoo. Bangkok Flavor has withstood the test of time because the deliver tasty food time and time again. After 2 years, I stopped by last Saturday and the food is still great. The Tom Kha was really good. The Pad Thai and Pad Seew were also delicious. I also recommend the Bangkok Chicken. The service was very friendly and the chef even came out to say Thank you. Very cool. The only drawback that one could even mention would be the prices are higher than going rates in Chicago. However the portions are very large and a good value. I know from experience it is tough to get all the necessary ingredients in a small town so there are some costs associated with that. The best Thai food in SW Michigan.

Great food for a really good price. Every time that I have went I have found something that was great. Personally I get the Hot Plus heat level, it's not too unbearable and will make the top of your head sweat a little as you eat. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that likes good Thai food.

Solid Thai food for the area. Little pricey for my taste, $10.50 for a lunch Pad Thai, but the food itself was great. I'll go back and try some other options for sure. I ordered medium spice and it was perfect. One other coworker got the Bangkok chicken and seemed to really enjoy his. I ate my entire lunch so if you're hoping for left overs, you might want to order something to go along with like a soup or app.

My second time passing through town and getting food at Bangkok Flavor is another great experience! This time, I got take out and ordered #10 with beef. The broth was creamy without being greasy and had just the right amount of heat. The beef was tender, and the Thai Iced Tea was delicious despite being on the sweet side. I asked the lady if she could put less sugar in my tea. She said the tea is pre-made but she could add more cream to it to dilute the sugar a bit. It ended up tasting excellent! Thank you Bangkok Flavor! You were the highlights of both my quick trips passing through Kalamazoo!

Great, "family" run place to eat. Food is always cooked very well and never comes out cold. The "spice" range of the food is also amazing. From mild all the way to Thai Hot and beyond. I started with Hot and thought it was great and tried Thai Hot the next time around. BIG. MISTAKE. Sooooo hot. I'll have to give it another shot some time. Reasonable prices, great staff, great food, good atmosphere. What more could you ask for?

Very pleasantly surprised! I tried this place when visiting a friend who lives a few minutes away. The food was very flavorful and the chicken in our pad Thai tasted like it had the flavor of lemongrass. The tom yum soup was also awesome. The restaurant was packed and there were 2 ladies working the whole place and yet we still had great service. They were very friendly and the beautiful decor got extra points.

I didn't give this 5/5 for a few minor reasons: 1. Crab rangoons are a bit chewy 2. Spring rolls, although delicious, can be pretty greasy at times 3. prices slightly overpriced. Pad Thai is our favorite entree! Flavorful, delicious, and hearty. Great surprising find in a little strip mall off Gull Rd. Love this place!

Restaurant was highly recomended to me and I have to say it's ok. Be sure and take it easy on the heat level. I love hot/spicy so I ordered ""Tai Hot". Not good. I could't eat half of what I bought. Regular "Hot" would have been plenty. But the flavor and taste before my mouth started burning was great.

It seems there was a staffing problem on the Wednesday night my family and I dined in. One waitress to work all ten tables AND act as hostess AND ring up the take out business. I saw some poor guy on crutches who had to stand and wait more than 15 minutes for a take out order. Unacceptable. I was served my dish but my wife and two kids had to wait another 4 to 5 minutes for their entrees to be served. The food was hit or miss at our table. My wife had the String Beans with Steamed Tofu and she loved it. I had the Pad Se-ew with tofu spiced hot. Other than the "garlic brown" sauce heavy on the soy sauce, I found the dish to be decent but forgettable. My kids both got the Pad Thai which had a "light sweet" sauce. Weird flavor and 'too sweet' were my kids opinions (ages 7 and 10). One last point to note, the room temperature was hot. I would estimate high 70's to low 80's. My son and I had to step out twice just to get some air. I wondered why so many of the customers were wearing shorts in October. Maybe they were regulars.

just got the Pad Thai. very good. got the "Thai hot" level of spicy. 3 on a 1 to 6 scale. much better and more worth the money than Thai Cuisine in Kalamazoo.

Kalamazoo doesn't have a lot of choices when it comes to Thai, but that isn't what makes this place stand out. It's small and unassuming space, but they have good thai food and reasonable prices. The Pad Thai has big chunks of onion in it, so we hold the onion on that dish. Pad Prik is tasty, as are their soups. When you ask for something with HOT spiciness, that's what you get. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

I went there for carryout and if I had ordered in the restaurant, I would have sent the food back and walked out. They have no business calling themselves a Thai restaurant. First and most egregious: My Gang Kew Wan (green curry), which gave me hope when I ordered because they used the Thai name, was made with GREEN FOOD COLORING. The shrimp and bamboo shoots were an unnatural greenish blue and did not look edible. The sauce appeared to be nothing but coconut milk thrown onto a stir fry, with green food coloring added. Nothing that makes it taste Thai was present: no flavors of basil, lemongrass, fish sauce, or kaffir lime leaf. And to add insult to injury, the vegetables were overcooked and mushy. Now onto the rest: two dishes (Three's Company and Pad Ped) tasted identical. Both were basically stir-fries with what tasted like oyster sauce on top, and like old wok oil. They did not taste Thai at all, more like cheap Chinese cooking. The "crab" rangoon had nothing but cream cheese in it and came with a nuclear-orange sauce (is sweet chili sauce really that hard to come by?), and the "satay" was obviously fried rather than grilled, and tasted like it was rolled in salt. On top of the less-than-mediocre food, the prices are not very good either. About average with what I regularly pay at much better places elsewhere. This may be the worst restaurant I have ever been to. I can't believe all these positive reviewers went to the same place.

Got the Pad Thai and Pad Prik. Both were excellent. Got the hot level which was one level below "Thai hot" and I was glad I didn't go to the top level. :) Definitely best Thai I have ever had and best in Kalamazoo.

This is the best Thai restaurant in Kalamazoo! Out of two! I'm sad that the location is so far from both my home and my office because it sometimes is ruled out just because it's 20-25 minutes away. Pad Thai has always been good and they will accommodate a request for less fish sauce, which I have experienced in the past, some restaurants will not do. I highly recommend the peanut curry noodle, medium spicy. It has so much flavor I always have to stop myself from finishing the whole plate due to food coma after. Service is always on point, constantly refilling my water glass while I chow down. If you are out in the Gull Rd. or Sprinkle Rd. area, this is worth a stop!

Great Thai food in Kalamazoo. I've been to Thai restaurants in most major U.S. Metropolitan areas, and Bangkok Flavor definitely holds its own. The flavors are authentic, and setting is very cozy. If you're a fan of Thai food and are in the Kzoo area, you need to stop by this place. The Thai Apple Salad is particularly refreshing (and can be spicy if you want it to be!).

Probably the best Thai food in the Kalamazoo area. Came in from out of town and this was my choice for dinner! The pad thai tastes a little different from what I remember from a year ago. It was a little bit more soggy then dry. I would advice that if you like spicy, first try it 'medium' spicy and go from there. That was more then enough heat for me and I love spicy foods.

I really wanted to love this place, but there were some serious shortfalls in my experience with Thai food. The one highlight was that 'Hot' was seriously no joke. For once it was not Americanized Hot and it packed a punch. I love spicy and I think I would order medium next time. First up, I ordered the Tom Yum soup and was expecting full flavor of lemongrass, kefir and lime flavors but tasted nothing. The soup had decent spice level, but no powerful flavors that should jump with this soup! It was basically a bland broth with a few mushrooms. On to Pad Pak which should be a straightforward dish with brown sauce. On a good note, there is a decent array of vegetables in here, although i did add eggplant that turned out to be non-existent. Again, very bland aside from being spicy, but no bold flavors with Thai basil, lime, lemongrass. Highly disappointing.

Yay! My Favorite curry! The only reason I left off a star is because they seem to take trips a lot which makes me sad when I can't get green curry and thai tea!

Solid Thai Food in Kalamazoo, who would have thought that possible but Bangkok Flavor is just that. The "Thai Hot" is definitely spicy as you would expect but it is the nice Thai spicy that not only burns but has a wonderful flavor to it. For Dinner we ordered the spring rolls and Fried Tofu. Both items we tasty but of particular note was the peanut sauce that accompanied the Tofu. Too often peanut sauce is just basically peanut butter, but here they added a little bit of spice to it making the sauce tasting and not just all peanut butter. For a main course I ordered the Thai Spicy version of the Chicken Green Curry and was pleasantly surprised. Not only was it spicy as I mentioned at the beginning of this review but the portion was enourmous and was excellent. Overall this isn't the greatest Thai place ever but when you are in Kalamazoo and in need of some decent ethnic food this is a solid choice.

This is my favorite restaurant in the Kalamazoo area. The lunch is reasonably priced, and they particularly know how to prepare scallops. The heat level varies, depending on the chef. Best dishes: Thai apple salad or pad talay. Tucked into a little strip mall, this is a gem worth the excursion.

Its hard to find good Thai anywhere...luckily i found i little diamond in the rough!!! everything is great, i highly recommended the Pad Tai and the Pad Pak. They also have a dessert that is incredible. It sounds gross, but it is sweet sticky rice with fresh mango, coconut shaving, and covered in coconut milk!!! AMAZING!!!

Great Thai. A little pricey but Thai always is. Thai hot comes out exactly that way. Never had anything I didn't like here. I love that they will cook it hotter too once they know you. Certainly a hidden gem on gull rd.

One of my first experiences with Thai food and I was amazed. A couple of favorites are the Tom Yum soup, a kind of hot and sour soup but with a very tangy and unique flavor, the Gang Kew Wan, which is a green curry coconut milk dish with eggplant, red and green peppers and other assorted veggies that is great with tofu if you are feeling like a veggie dish, and Pla Dook Pad Ped, which is a fried catfish dish with red and green peppers and eggplant in a red curry sauce with coconut milk. The friendly staff, reasonable prices and great food keep me coming back here for takeout and entertaining out of town guests. One note: unless you're insane, you don't need to get everything "Thai hot." The chefs will challenge you, and you will lose. My suggestion is to go for "Thai hot" only on your entree. You don't need a "Thai hot" soup. If you do get overwhelmed, try the Thai iced tea, a great blend of extremely sweet tea and coconut milk that comes in a huge glass. Only knock against it is the minuscule dining room! Great place!

This is really extraordinary for Kalamazoo. A great Thai restaurant that will make things S_P_I_C_Y for you. Be careful-their scale is not the same as the rest of the region's restaurants. 'Hot' means really hot, and I like HOT. UPDATED October 2008: Still great food, still spicy. Keep up the good work! This place is a saviour in Kalamazoo.

I feel bad for giving this place two stars, but I really did not enjoy any of the three dishes I tried...and I usually love Thai food. Their pad thai has an unusual ingredient/spice in it (that I've never had in my pad thai & I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was) that made me dislike the dish -- however, my friend enjoyed that unique flavor...so who knows, you might like it too... The pad ped was not good though, I'm sorry to say. We usually love this dish at the other Thai restaurant in town and were hoping it would be just as good here since it's a little less pricey, but that didn't work out either. My friend ordered a chicken dish with a brown ginger sauce and vegetables; that was okay, kind typical quality/taste of what you would get in a Chinese restaurant. It's a quaint little place though and the waitress was nice.

Great Thai! I love this place. One of the best three authentic ethnic food in Kalamazoo. This small local hidden strip-mall gem has keep adding new items on menu, Good vegetarian...(but not vegan) and sea food selections, large to medium portions. Lunch for $6.95 including tax. Great deal! Please tell if you go, still Pad Thai and Fried Rice are tooooo expensive. ( Yes they did for Tuesday Lunch! but wish to be around $8 always. ) I think we and our friends will take out 4 times more often!!!! (They think all American only order these, and which we do often love.....) OR: at least try once a week let's say Monday all day Pad Thai special, Thursday Fried Rice special for $7.50, etc I bet within a month they will have lines and waiting calls like Chin Chin! Also they said they would love to use fresh Basil, Cilantro and more authentic fresh vegetable if most of us ask!! Please tell them we love real Thai taste. They said they used to but no many Kalamazoo people liked it.........

I know nothing about how Thai food is supposed to taste. My experience has been limited to sampling a couple Pad Thai dishes at the Taste of Chicago and the Chicken Pad Thai at Bangkok Flavor. However, I hope it all tastes like this, because what I receive is consistently delicious and prepared in a very large portion. It has certainly become the go-to dinner in my house. The new recipe we were trying tastes like feet - looks like we're going to Bangkok!

I have never tried Thai before and I loved it! The food was great as well as the service. They even made us a special dish because we couldn't find it on the menu. I had the pad thai and a wonderful dessert. I forget the name, but it included purple rice with coconut milk (yum) and a fruit (either mango or papaya). Will definitely be going back here!

They were very friendly and the beautiful decor got extra points.

we stopped in during a roadtrip home. sign of a great place=great pad Thai! and wonderful tom yum :) soup. friendly service and cute decor. highly recommend stopping by

Awesome Thai food. Even though I'm not really a fan of most Thai dishes, their Tom Yum soup and Larb is wicked good. Highly recommend them.

Kalama Booze loves this place. It's possibly the best deal in the entire Kalamazoo/Portage area. Awesome service, delicious food, great prices. I tried Thai in New York, Chicago, Seattle and yes, even Thailand...and I still prefer this place. kalamabooze.com

AMAZING!!!
(5)Josh M.

Best Thai food ever. Always get Thai hot.

One of my favorite restaurants in Kalamazoo and one of my favorite Thai places I have been too!

Cozy setting, great food. Pretty nice staff. So far, this is our favorite Thai place in the area and quite authentic.

(5)Nathan W.
