Just had the most amazing gluten free chocolate peanut butter cake I've ever had! I could not believe it was gluten free! Well made! Can't wait to try more gluten free items!

Love the gelato - $3 for a cup, and it is Palazzolo's gelato, so definitely scrumptious! The cakes are delicious (with awesome frosting)... The only downside is the parking lot (full of holes) and lack of couches - I'd hang out there all day! :)

Really disappointed in the service. I went in on a Saturday to order a special birthday cake for my 5 year old son and was turned a way. Being a place that makes cakes I thought they would have an idea book of specialty birthday cakes but instead was told to go home and look at their Facebook page and their website. So I did and what a disappointment! I'm not wanting to sort through the mess of boring wedding cakes to find amateur looking birthday cakes! Also while I was in the bakery I figured since I brought my 5 year old in to to have a special moment of picking his birthday cake to be told check Facebook, I decide to buy some cakes and a cupcake in the display for a sample. Well driest cake ever and tasteless. I might as well go to Meijer's or Walmart for a better flavor. However, I am still an idiot and ordered my son's boring cake. Also the other bakery was closed and I was on a time crunch. I really was willing to put the money down for a small cake that was cool looking, like around $100. I couldn't even order a cake with color and even after saying I'm willing to put some money down for a special cake the lady ignored me. Like I AM WILLING to PAY and to make this cake special but I'm getting a bland yellow cake with white frosting. Disappointed and why I put 2 stars. The cake was dry and nothing amazing like what I've got in other bakeries. I won't be ordering a cake there but their food looks really good as well as their other baked goods. Cute place but I guess I had to high of expectations for a cake.

I like Bert's Bakery. Scratch made baked goods and coffee drinks that are made to order. I especially love the almond cookies because no one else in this area takes the time to make these amazing treats with real almond paste. Yum! The only negative is that they use "Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce" for their pulled pork sandwich and it is full of preservatives :( We can only have their chicken salad, which is good, but our only lunch option. Their chocolate cake is even pretty darn good (I'm very picky) in a pinch!

My mom and I went and looked at some local bakeries in Kalamazoo since I was visiting from Grand Rapids and I am getting married next year. I don't get a chance to come to Kalamazoo very often and it was a bit last minute so all we were really hoping for was a wedding cake price list and to see if she was available for a quick wedding consultation. We were also hoping to purchase a small cake sample so we could try out her cake. So we went into Bert's and asked Amy if she had a second for a quick wedding consultation and it was made very clear that she was MUCH too busy for us (mind you, there was no one in the bakery.) My mom and I were fine that she couldn't do the consultation but asked if she had a price list we could take a look at. She said flustered, "yeah over there on the table somewhere." We walked over to the table and found the only price list she had on the table and it didn't really make a whole lot of sense to us. She then came over with a different price list and said "no, its this one" (which, was not on the table.) My mom and I just sat and looked over her price list. Amy then came back over and was very clearly frustrated continued to reiterate how we needed appointments or she couldn't provide us good customer service. I apologized and continued to explain that I am from Grand Rapids and this was a last minute thing and that we were fine with her not being available for a wedding consultation that day, it was simply if she had time to do one. We really only came in expecting a price list and to purchase a sample. Like i'm sorry but I've worked in retail for years, and the way we were treated there was unacceptable. Amy was just flat out rude and very short with us. Even if you are too busy and cannot do a wedding consultation, you can be POLITE about it. You can say, "i'm very sorry but my consultations are by appointment only." And we would have been 10000% fine with that. It is possible to be polite and busy simultaneously. Its called good customer service and it seriously needs a refresher here. Also, in case you were wondering, the cake was awful. It was really dry and the frosting was gritty. My mom and I both agreed that it tasted like expired frosting out of a can. My mom and I left and I told her there was absolutely no way I would even consider choosing Bert's to do my wedding cake, even if the cake was fantastic because of the horrible experience with Amy. We had been to plenty of bakeries that way with wonderful cake and wonderful people. Take my advice- if you are looking for a wedding cake and just don't go there. I know I never will again and I will tell all of my friends getting married that they should avoid as well, so Bert's not only lost myself as a future client but also my friends as well. They were the most expensive place we looked at that day, with the worst cake and the worst attitude. AVOID!

HOLY F! This is EASILY the best, most rich, most buttery and most delicious G damned short bread cookie of my life (and at 5'10-200, I know from cookies)! They have a thin level of jam that complete this ingenious work of dough. If you're nearby and fat, hungry, or have a brain in your skull go here now!

We love the strawberry cream cheese danish. SO. DELICIOUS! On the off chance we decide not devour the entire thing in one day, it's great because it's still just as delicious the next day. We recently purchase 2 cakes for my parents anniversary as well. Those were equally delicious. They were a great value for the size, quality, and especially the taste! It's a must try!
