This place is the best hidden gem in Grand Rapids hands down. I have been coming here for several years and have never been disappointed. If you like it really spicy like me order your dish Thai hot, level 4 or 5 will get you sweating I promise. Its family run with the daughter's serving and either the dad or son cooking( the son makes its alot hotter so be careful). The Bangkok Fried rice is a favorite of mine, big chunks of broccoli, carrots, and peas make this one just divine. The crispy tofu with cucumber sauce is a great appetizer. You won't find any better Thai food in GR. They recently opened another restaurant downtown which has the same menu, but it just doesn't have the same vibe or comfort as the original.

So good! Vegetable curry with chicken at medium spice makes my mouth happy!

I've tried this place a few times, the food is ok, but the service and attention to detail are seriously lacking. Today we went there for an early dinner, it was just us and another table. I was dining with two others that have gluten allergies, we mention it when we ordered and were told we could have anything except the items with brown sauce. So, the food comes out fairly quickly, only to have the waitress come out after we had already started eating to let us know the chicken had gluten, apparently they dust their chicken breast in flour so it doesn't stick.... Unfortunately one of the friends I was with that was allergic to gluten had already ate a fair amount. They didn't really seem to care, acting like it was no big deal, offering to make something else when they've essentially poisoned one of their customers due to their ignorance and apathy to their needs. So, after that I'm sitting there, trying to eat my meal as fast as possible since I'm the only one able to eat. Unfortunately my drink is sitting empty while our waitress is at another table texting, making it rather difficult to eat my spicy entree. Overall it wasn't a great experience, I seriously doubt I'll return.

Always a favorite! Try the Panang Curry, but be careful ordering spices... even "no spice" can be pretty spicy!

I've been going here for a while and love how hot (spicy) their food is (5 is REALLY hot...and I like it hot). Tonight, however, I went in to order a late dinner, and the doors were closed and locked at 8:45pm when the hours state that closing time is at 9pm. This is absolutely ridiculous, but their loss as I took my business elsewhere tonight. They need to get their things together and follow their hours if they want to keep customers. Edit: Went again tonight (Saturday) at 5:50pm and they're closed and phone with a busy signal. Closing time isn't supposed to be until 9pm on Saturday. Today is even Small Business Saturday and they're supposed to be participating. So irritating!

Love this place! I have been here several times and have never ordered something I didnt like. Its not the best pad thai I have ever had but it is very good especially for being in Jenison. I will continue to go back.

We got hooked on Thai food while living in Thailand. The food here is excellent however, they do not cater to gluten sensitivities nor do they understand the dire ramifications. They also have those darn air fresheners which meant my sister in law and I had to leave because we were both having severe asthma attacks. We took our food with us, but my sister in law had a severe reaction to whatever was in her chicken and ended up in ER. It was most unpleasant.

I will DEFINITELY plan on revisiting this restaurant any time I'm in this part of the state. Food is great. Décor is a little rough, and service is by the family daughters who also need to get their homework done, so don't go in snooty expecting hovering attention.

Bangkok Taste came off as expected. Well reviewed for food, a little short on ambience and wait staff not exactly effusive. But it's the food that counts. Thanks to the previous reviewers I found it on a business trip and grateful for the referral.

A wise person once told me sometimes the best ethnic restaurants are in out-of-the-way shopping centers. Bangkok Taste was quite the find, thanks to our Michigan friends who drive up from Kalamazoo once a month to dine here. Gigantic portions of steaming hot thai food -- the curry was phenomenal! I also dominated the end of my wife's dish (pad thai) and salivated over our dining partner's curries and fried rice dishes. There was one other table during our one-hour visit here -- but the carry out patronage was constant and clearly the winner. When in Grand Rapids, seek out Bangkok Taste. You will not be disappointed.

Ahhhhmazing. Granted my exposure to Thai food is limited, I had the first Pad Thai that I've ever liked. I ordered mild with chicken and it was light, not saucy, not disgusting and totally amazing. We ordered takeout and the portion size was more than plenty, I tasted my husbands Pad Thai - he ordered medium, beef and it was just as tasty. I can't wait to go back!

So, I had the pleasure of going back here the other night. I went to this place throughout college while I was attending college. I loved it!! This is where I fell in love with Thai food. I was so happy to go back the other night. I am biased, but they have really good Pad Thai. I am always please to hear reports that this place continues to do well.

Wowzas wowzass oh yah this place is so great. Some of the best thai food in the country. Server was the most friendly and personable dude, the vegetable peanut curry I ordered was outta this world spicy and delicious, it was vert spacious and welcoming. There have been an explosion of Thai restaurants in the Grand Rapids area over the past few years, and none quite as good as the first IMHO. But Bangkok Taste is pretty good. Lots of lime in the Tom Ka Gai soup, but I'm never a fan of tomatoes in that soup. Massaman Curry is good, and the fried rice with Thai Basil is excellent. Worth going to if you're in the area.

I frequent this establishment with friends and have never been disappointed. Comfortable atmosphere with amazing food run by a very pleasant family.

As a person who has tried a variety of Asian foods, I have to say that this restaurant is pretty good (especially considering its location in West Michigan). The food ranges from dishes that are excellent for Thai newcomers (such as pad thai, and thai curry noodle) to more exotic dishes for the more adventurous eater (like the tom yum pho). They are made fresh and are consistently tasty. I have been there often and haven't once had a dish that didn't turn out right or didn't taste good. A fair amount of the dishes are under 10 dollars and don't skimp on taste, or volume. The only problem that I have run across is their ranges of what "spicy" means. At times I feel like when I ask for "medium" they just take a handful of peppers and throw it in, and other times its like they just add a pinch. To savor the flavor, I fully recommend getting mild. The atmosphere can be a little lacking, and sometimes the service is a little slow, but for the most part you will get seated and served quickly. The tricky part is getting their attention if you need additional service or want your check. Overall, this is a wonderful place that can easily worm its way into your daily meals. The service is decent, but the food and prices make up for just about all their shortcomings.

I love Thai food. And I finally had the chance to check this place out. What Adam W. writes is the truth, although I only slightly disagree on the service aspect. When you arrive, the service is FAST. Everything came out super hot, fresh off the pan, etc. and it was decently busy in there. But no one came and offered us boxes or our check, even after we hadn't touched our food for a good 10-15 minutes and they were continually walking by and smiling at us. Oh well. The food and the service early on more than made up for it. My roommate and I got: -shrimp rolls -- Perfectly crisp outside, delicious inside! The plum sauce was really good too. -crab ragoons -- Just the right amount of filling, good sweet and sour sauce, very satisfying. -Pad Pak -- My roommate got this and he got it medium spicy...which was too hot for me and almost too much for him, hahaha. But the taste before the burn was great! -Peanut Curry Noodle -- YUMMY! I got mine mild and it was the right combination of sweet and spicy. Very, very satisfying! I even liked the vegetables in the sauce, which is a big deal cuz I generally hate veggies. I can't wait to go back! Edit: I've now been back multiple times and everything new that I've tried as been great! I looooooove this restaurant. I just wish I lived closer.

Best Thai joint in the area. Heard about it from a friend a year ago, and now I'm hooked! I always order either Pad Seeyu or Pad Thai with tofu (plus extra tofu!!) I love spicy foods and their flavors stays true to the authenticity of Thai foods. Service is fast and serving sizes are plentiful. I don't recommend the Thai tea though. Way too sweet. But if you have room, finish off with some Coconut ice cream (topped with crushed peanuts). Delish!

I recently took a trip back to the area and I had to stop at my favorite area restaurant. That's right... not just my favorite Thai restaurant - but my favorite area restaurant. I've decided that Bangkok Taste takes prize for the Grand Rapids area. At least, at press time. One sure sign of a respectable restaurant is consistency. You can come here a million times and order the same thing and it will always be the way you remember it. There are no variations in quality or size - you get what you get and it's always held to the same standard and delivered just as awesome as it was the first time you tried it. When I was in here last it seemed a little bit busier than I remember. That's a good thing though and I'm glad to see their business expanding. Getting a table for 6 was still no problem and we were seated immediately. Another sign of their business increase: more than the mother and daughter are working now... it seems to have become more of a family operation and there are multiple daughters waitressing and running around. Of course, they all provide the same exceptional service you should be expecting from my review and this update. I've also got to mention that we were treated to a special surprise where the mother came out of the kitchen (because I'm assuming one of her daughters told her we were there) and talked with us for several minutes. She remembered all of us in the original group and seemed very happy to see us as we were happy to talk with her as well. I can't tell you how awesome it is to be remembered as a frequent customer and be warmly welcomed back - it's like coming home or something. She even whipped up a special dish (forgive me if I forget the name... but maybe it was drunken noodles) for us to share with the table, free of charge, and it was absolutely TO DIE FOR. I mentioned the gang gai and gang keaw warn in my original review but now I'm recommending this with all my heart behind it. I had ordered the gang keaw warn on this free dish she gave us actually made me wish I had ordered the drunken noodles instead. Just another reminder to myself that I should branch out more and not stick to the old familiar stuff... it usually pays off. So, without saying too much more you really need to go here. Awesome service, totally awesome food, and basically one of the best places to eat in the Grand Rapids area. I can't say enough about Bangkok Taste and how great it is. You're missing out if you never come. Like Levar Burton says, "But don't take my word for it," go try it yourself.

Got hooked on Thai while in Las Vegas where I found two places I loved. One a local chain of 4 places. Looking for good Thai in GR, so far very disappointed. I was alone, ordered two dishes. Classic Pad Thai w chicken level 5 heat, Gang Keaw Warn also level 5 heat cause I love egg plant and Thai Iced Tea. I went at 1 pm so only 4 others finishing meals. The service and food delivery was very fast, service attentive, friendly. Premises was clean. My Pad Thai needed more sauce and lacked spice although heat level of 5 was there. Portion on small side but only $5.95. The Gang Kew Warn $ was a complete disappointment. About 1 Tbsp of eggplant (2 very very tiny thin slices 1in wide, 1/4 in thick and I do not exaggerate). The rest of the dish was composed of green pepper slices and onion, bamboo shoots. There was only a small amount of coconut green curry sauce for the dish, not even enough to coat the side of rice and the whole lacked spice. The Thai Iced tea $2.50 was OK but nothing special. This is 2 tried and 2 I won't go back to. In fact I went to the Asian Market and bought my own Thai food makings.

Stopped in for lunch @ about 11:30am on a weekday- perfect timing before it got busy. Great service. I had the red curry with catfish (medium heat). Pretty good. Will definitely have again. Happy Eating!

This is my favorite place for curry. Had out of town friends and family agree that this is some of the best tasting Massaman out there. You can mix and match the curry with a dish. My go to is the Pad Ped #4 because of the veggies, but love their Massaman Second favorite is the green curry #5. Third favorite is their peanut curry with Pad See Ew. You can't go wrong with any of their curry dishes. I eat here regularly and get takeout quite a bit. Insider tip: order extra sauce to heat up with leftovers.

I don't care about the decor anymore. The food is straight up Amazing!! The best Thai Food in Grand Rapids, Jenison, Wyoming, Grandville.
(5)Jack S.
We ordered their vegetable pad thai mild and spring rolls. First impressions of the pad thai were that it looked as if it lacked seasoning and did not smell as expected. The vegetables did appear to be fresh and colorful. The taste reminded me of vinegar with a sweetness. Hmmm. . . just not sure about this one. On the other hand the spring rolls with sauce were rather good. It was excellent that they had the order ready on time. And the food was hot. There is no other Thai restaurant in the area. So it has a sure monopoly in that respect. Also based on our brief glimpse of the place it was small (maybe 10 tables) and nicely decorated.

Went tonight with a friend and her child and requested Pad Ped - not on the menu - though our waitress suggested an alternate eggplant-basil dish Gang Ped. My dish arrived - no eggplant. Became aggrieved, as my menu choice was predicated upon the inclusion of eggplant within. So I offer up the dish for inspection by our waitress who confirms the eggplant omission. She returns to the kitchen to investigate where's the communication breakdown. Couple minutes later out comes an older woman (the owner?) who brusquely bangs a bowl of eggplant in front of me and with curt derision says "here's your eggplant". Outraged at her demeanor - and the pro-offered eggplant swimming in a red sauce, as opposed to my Gang Ped's green sauce - I erupt in high dudgeon. The offending owner flees to the kitchen, from which one of the cooks shortly emerges to offer a sincere apology/reconciliation. I explain to her the crucial differences between red/green sauces (their color) plus if that rude lady doesn't come out and apologize, this meal's not getting paid for. Cook repairs to the kitchen to deliberate with the cowering owner. No dice. No way this lady's coming back out. So we left and will never return. Pork Spring Roll is greasy, Pad Thai noodle texture is wrong, Crab Rangoon is rubbery (and misspelled on the menu) and we had to seat ourselves. Needs new owners/management. Ick. Stay away.

We just spent 3 years in Guam and had access to a lot of great asian food, including Thai, so we know what's good. This place does a good job for the most part. I had the panang chicken and it was a tiny bit salty and not as thick as I am used to. Also, the rice was not Jasmine rice, but not a problem once added to the sauce. I have not tried the other Thai places in the area, but I would come back to try another dish for sure. It is also a good indicator for this place with someone picking up take out every 5 minutes or less, they were busy for sure. The bonus for eating in here is the waitresses are HOT and equally great at there jobs. Nice girls and attentive waitresses.

Went with the family for dinner as we were visiting our daughter at GVSU. Nice and quite, and the food was awesome, had a Thai Basil with white rice and a fried egg as topper, one of the wait staff was eating it. said it wasn't a menu item. but the owner said she had enought for me to try, and it was awesome. Wife and daughters had seseme chicken, pork fried rice and drunken noodles, all was well as we enjoyed a great dinner and time together. If you like spicey, this is the place, they had medium and mild, and I had the hot, it was perfect. Can't wait to eat the next visit. Toddmichael

Food was great, but they change their prices too often. Not going back for a while.
(3)Sharon S.
The food is usually excellent although I was not happy with the change to my peanut curry. It was usually made with green peppers and green beans. This time there were no peppers and carrots were added plus they were over noodles. Usually I would give it a four star rating. We will try again.
(3)Tori V.
We get takeout once a week or more and I go into serious withdraws if I miss a week! Favorites are regular and curry Pad Thai (been to many Thai restaurants and nothing like the curry PT), vegetable curry, and drunken noodle.
(5)Leang E.
My sister and I came here as an attempt to find better tasting Asian restaurants in Western Michigan. We ordered food for carryout, and got Thai iced tea, fried tofu, Green curry, a red curry, and drunken noodles. The medium spicy is really spicy. I think we should have just settled for mild. The red curry seemed more like a stir-fry dish, and not what I was expecting. I thought the drunken noodle tasted good, but disappointed in the presentation. I liked the green curry best out of all the things we ordered. The staff seemed very courteous and prompt. The prices were a little higher than what I would consider average.
(3)David H.
We get N4 (curry pad thai) mild chicken, beef, or pork about twice a month. This is the best place for curry pad thai in the city and the staff are wonderful! Only downside is that the spiciness varies depending on the cook. Sometimes medium is great, other times it is very hot.
(5)Jenny K.
I've been coming here for 5 years, and it is so worth the trip out to Jenison. Thus far, it is the absolute best Thai food I've had...ever. That's all I should have to say, really. But I'll go on. The interior has nice, colorful decorations, the service is friendly (the owner's daughters), and the portions make at least 2 meals for my appetite. I love kow pad, and I've made it many times, but no matter how much I research or try different ingredients, I CANNOT make fried rice as delicious as this. I'm telling you, it is so good. I've taken almost everyone I know to Bangkok Taste, and will continue to do so as long as I live in the area.

Food is amazing. Recommend the Pad Talay seafood plate
