This is a regular thing we do when the whole family gets together from all of the world. We all come here for our last meal together!

We went here while on vacation and I got the linguini with mussels and ended up picking out broken shells from the pasta. There was so much breakage that I could not eat the pasta without fear of biting into a shell. We told the waitress and she managed to get it taken off of our check but this place just left a bad taste in my mouth. My boyfriend's prime rib didn't look too great either. But their bread was ok.

Food was okay but it took an hour for my food to arrive (and it was only a sandwich). I heard others complaining about how long it took to get their food. And this was on a Monday (albeit busy) night. Get it together kitchen staff!

Great food. Pretty fair wait staff. It's hit or miss. The owner totally ignores cultivating customer service. Our last visit, the drinks were screwed up and I was questioned about ordering scotch and 7-up when I actually had ordered scotch and soda. We had the chocolate cream pie for desert. It was horrible. One bite and sent it back. The waitress brought it back to the table three time saying it should be good. She finally took it off the bill. What message don't they get????

With all of the changes going on in the U.P., it's so nice to see Pilgrim River Steakhouse still open for business. I have to say it broke my heart when my late-night dining experience revealed an empty restaurant where my friend and I were the only ones to sit down and eat. Sure, it was Monday night, but I remember over 10 years ago a busy restaurant filled with people. My happiest memories of living in Houghton happened here. The food is uncomplicated and it is delicious! I had the shrimp and spinach linguini and my friend had the mushroom swiss burger. I gobbled my pasta (my first taste of pasta in 2 months due to carb-free diet) and my friend took time to relish his burger. I had a puddle of butter sauce under the pasta which I kept soaking up with the two large chunks of bread that came with the dish. It was garlic butter heaven. My friend was not expecting his burger to taste as amazing as it did. He didn't understand why it was so important for me to eat here in the first place. No one ever will. In the end my friend was happy I dragged him here. We didn't bother to take long, as we arrived 45 minutes before close. I still found time to down two glasses of pinot noir while I was there. I'm glad we made it and we tipped generously for such gracious service before close. I really hope Pilgrim River Steakhouse continues to stay open. Although my memories are foggy, the service back in the late nineties was just as hospitable. Thank you so much for dinner!

Went there after a long day of sightseeing. It was about 4 o'clock and we were one of only four other groups in the restaurant. No one sat us. . We sat down a waitress said we could sit wherever we want. We waited for 20 minutes: no one gave us water a menu or anything. Service was terrible. We ended up leaving. It's a shame, because it's one of the only steakhouses around. We ended up driving to Copper Harbor. Horrible service!!

I get that they're a steakhouse, but you'd think that when they changed the menu, they'd add something that either was or could be veganized. How hard is it to slap a black bean burger or veggie wrap on the menu for crying out loud? Maybe offer pasta with red (rather than meat) sauce? How about a nice veggie pasta? Before they changed the menu, I was okay with being able to order only a salad when we'd dine here with friends and family. But now that they've updated the menu and still not included a single vegan option. Now that they've updated and vegetarians still have nothing more to choose from on the menu besides a handful of fried appetizers and a side salad. Now, I'm done. I'm all done with this place.

Stopped to eat supper with our daughter, a Tech student. Bacon cheeseburger was very good. Some of the best fries I've had in a restaurant in some time. Service was very friendly and quick. Timing was perfect with appetizers salads and entrees. Recommend

First and last time here, waitress and hostess didn't even make eye contact. The tossed salad didn't have tomatoes, our steaks took over 45 minutes and my "filet mignon" was a large steak cut in half, and burned. NO WAY was that filet mignon. Waste of $25. Applebee's has a nicer cut. DONT GO HERE

Such a cute, cozy and spacious cabin restaurant! The food did not disappoint at all and the fries were absolutely amazing! There is something for everyone on the menu, with their own little twists thrown in. My chicken caprese sandwich had provolone versus mozzarella like I am used to, but I'm guessing they just cannot get fresh mozzarella this far north in the winter season. Service was a bit slow, especially when we were awaiting our bill, there weren't many patrons inside, but only one server and busser working that I could see. All in all, I will be back!

For a casually upscale evening with great service and very good food in a pleasant series of dining rooms, spend a little more and go to the Pilgrim River Steakhouse. It is located east of downtown Houghton on US Highway 41. Hubby and I love a good steak and Pilgrim River has a really nice selection of tasty beef including Prime Rib, New York Strip, Fillet and the one I ordered, an incredibly tender, flavorful Ribeye. The ribeye I ordered was the special the evening we visited and was served with a rich, full-flavored white truffle butter and was covered with grilled sliced mushrooms. I chose a marvelous fresh spinach salad with warm bacon dressing to start and had wild rice with the steak. Hubby had a fillet and a baked potato with house salad to start. Entrees are served with a warm crusty loaf of bread. If steak is not 'your thing', Pilgrim River also has an extensive selection of other entrees including Lake Superior Trout and locally sourced Walleye. Both sounded very tempting but I just had to try the special on this first ever visit. After all, "Steakhouse" is part of their name. Our server was helpful and made our meal a special and relaxing event. It was a highlight of our vacation and definitely a steakhouse we would recommend to others and visit again on our next visit to Houghton.

I have visited this place a number of times now. Many times for formal lunches with professors visiting form other universities. Really nice place with great food at affordable prices. A nice cozy ambience makes it a really good place to have some warm soup and food when it is snowing terribly outside. The service is quick and courteous. Definitely recommend

3 stars...but just barely. Poor soup & salad. I would've rather had the entree a la carte and saved a couple bucks. Prime rib special was ok but the waitress emphasized that it was "grilled" prime rib but couldn't explain if this was different than how it is normally prepared. The steaks were good. Dessert was ok, but again nothing worth writing home about. And they were out of some of their wines. Not as good as we expected or hoped.

Pilgrim River, in my opinion, has the best food in the Houghton-Hancock area (that's not including a couple of great restaurants up north). The steaks and fish are nicely prepared in a variety of ways and their salads are fantastic and certainly are large enough for a hearty meal. The service has always been prompt and friendly when we've dined there and the restaurant itself has a cozy lodge feel. The only downside is that you can get seated directly next to one of the restrooms which is a little gross. Prices are high for the area, but about what you'd expect for a decent steak place.

Probably one of the best eats in the Keeweenaw. Known for their steaks, I had the ribeye which was not only cooked exactly as I had ordered, but came with soup AND salad AND a side. No way I was leaving there hungry. Also tried the lake fish cakes appetizer, a combination of lake trout and whitefish, made into large patties and deep fried. Delicious all the way around.

The ambiance is a dimly lit lodge which fits the area. I really enjoy eating in the bar area now that it is non smoking. The tables there are all handcrafted which really go well with the motif. The food rivals any place in town and price goes along with any steakhouse chain that you may go to in a larger city. This is always one of the choices I recommend when one of my friends or relatives comes into town. It does get a little crowded on the weekends so if you want to relax. Go during the week. If they seat you next to the bathroom......ask for a new table.

Ate dinner last nite. Service was OUTSTANDING and the food ( salad and baby back ribs) were excellent. An extremely enjoyable experience.

Loved date night with my boy here. I always got the hamburger, as I'm not much of a steak person and it was always delish. The boy always tried something new and was never disappointed!

One of the best steaks I've ever had throughout my life. Good service and great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

I have never had a bad meal here. The service is always good and it's probably the best steak place in the area.

Note to the Keweenaw: Old fashioned forest chic is only good for looks, not menu. For such a large restaurant with the rustic log cabin ambiance, this place has a narrow meaty menu selection with limited vegetarian options and limited salads. Vegetarian is more than pasta. I hesitate to take business visitors here any more due to the retro menu.
