Eating good food at the right time can control your blood sugar, also stop you from craving wrong sort of food. Jamba Juice offers drinks in three separate sizes: 16, 24, and 32-ounce. You can choose the lowest serving size and cut down on sugars and calorie intake. Keep the sugar content below 50g per meal at Jamba Juice and ensure that you don't follow it with a heavy meal. A small size regular smoothie is equivalent to a meal for everyone. Classic smoothies at Jamba Juice are also heavily loaded with sugars. Stay away from that section if you are a diabetic.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Neat place. The inside is really cool. The bar staff was attentive and served me a sandwich within about 10-15 minutes of ordering. The sandwich was cheap and tasty. I was unable to sample the beer but I saw they have an impressive bottle selection (I saw Founder's Breakfast Stout & Rubaeus as well as Bell's Hopslam, plus a few from Upper Hand Brewing). Some of the domestic beers were shoved into the back behind miscellaneous stuff so that's always a great sign of a good beer selection.

The pizza (tostada) was okay. A bit messy and greasy. Can it be served in something slightly large than the cardboard circle is was made and served on? The service was a bit slow. The ambience was okay, nice foot traffic, cool atmosphere.
(3)Bill S.
Pizzas were fabulous! I had the Tostada and it was great, hot sauce could have been hotter but next time I'll add Jalapeños! My wife had the superb lobster ( 90% lobster/10% whitefish) pizza and raved about the flavors. Our friend had the Garlic chicken white pizza and said it's her favorite, she's a native! Great service and AWESOME surroundings, love the stained glass windows and chandeliers and gnome murals.
(5)Janel J.
Always great. Tostada pizza sets the bar incredibly high for other pizza places. The crust is incredible. We come back year after year when visiting.
(5)Kenny M.
Awesome pizza that isnt your traditional big name pizza. The tostada, greek, and chicken w/ broccoli pizzas are family favorites. The drinks choices are many and made right!
(4)Pamela S.
Great food and LOVE the inside of the Ambassador!! A must to visit when you are in Houghton.
(5)Tom H.
We have heard wonderful things about the Ambassador from friends who went to school at Mich.Tech and we were not disappointed with our visit. My wife and I shared a pizza, which was excellent. The staff was quite busy that night with a couple large groups but we were seated quickly and had no delays in getting our food & drinks. LOVE the history of the business and building and the atmosphere is top notch for a nice dinner.
(5)Joe T.
The food is excellent, and while the sand which portion sizes are not very big they do not cost very much. The interior is very cool and the staff is friendly and very quick. It certainly does not feel like your typical pizza joint. One of the best places to eat lunch in Houghton.
(5)Ken B.
Good pizza, historic location with a nice view of the channel and bridge. Also serves sandwiches and pasta. Very loud, so conversation may be difficult. Seems to be a Michigan tech student location of choice. Very fun experience.
(5)Rose R.
Great great place ! You walk in and you feel like you are home ! The place has a very warm and inviting feel and wonderful energy our waitress was so efficient and friendly we had pizza there and it came out surprisingly quick given how busy they were and it was Saturday night to boot!
(5)Avery C.
The chicken pizza is to die for. The lighting is a little low and the workers kind of stare at you the whole time you eat. But the food makes up for it. And the fish bowls? To die for
(4)Nate T.
PIZZA. That's all I have to say. PIZZA!! This place has the best Pizza in the area! I make it a point to stop here and enjoy the epic flavors of their pizza on my vacations at home. If you are living in the area or from out of town...Be sure to stop in and enjoy their Pizza! They have other food too that I also love, but the Pizza...lol Staff is always amazing too and very attentive to your needs. I never had a disappointing time at this place!
(5)Victoria W.
They are pretty good, but I sometimes wonder if you are getting what you pay for. I have been there many times now, always getting the "nachos" and one of the sandwich that I like, but you go to just about any non fast food sandwich shop you get a side of some kind with your sandwich. Here you sometimes get a pickle and sometimes you don't. Its very hit or miss depending on who your wait staff is and what time of day it is as well. Honestly I wonder for what you pay, shouldn't there be more?
(4)Honor B.
One of the best pizzas in Michigan. Do yourself a favor and try the tostada pizza, it's spicy and sweet. The fishbowls will quench any thirst.
(5)Cecilia T.
I had potato skins and lobster pizza for my meal and I personally did not like the pizza very much. It was a little too greasy or buttery for me with no actual taste. Price is very reasonable and it has very nice atmosphere so I will be coming back.
(3)Ed W.
I've had the Ambassador a countless amount of times, and it never changes (which is a good thing)! Their sausage pizza is the best pizza i've ever eaten, and the others are very good too.
(4)Alexander J.
This is the worst restaurant I have eaten at in the Houghton/ Hancock area. Describing the food as mediocre would actually be a complement. The overall quality of the food was a joke and worst then frozen food. I missed happy hour by literally less than 1 full minute. I ordered before 6pm but the server did not ring it up until 6:00pm exactly. I asked if this was why the appetizers were not half off and she responded, "Uh, I guess... the computer cuts it off at 6pm." A manager could have easily corrected this. Also the server had way too many tables. I could see her running back and forth between each side of the restaurant. She brought us one knife and only one side plate to share between two people. Pizza: I ordered a 10" pizza. It was worst than one I could buy at Walmart. It was served on cardboard instead of a metal plate. It was cut in small squares for some reason like a brownie. I was really in the mood to have a slice of pizza, not a cube. The crust tasted like cardboard. The pizza itself was very bland. I took the rest home, but honestly I probably won't eat it. The price of a small pizza was really high at $13 for being such bad quality. I could have gone to Domino's for better pizza at a lower price. Lobster pasta: Noting special. Imitation fishy tasting lobster over cheap spaghetti. "Nachos": This may be the worst "nachos" I have ever ordered. It was a basket full of off brand yellow rounds, and served with a side of cheese sauce. The jalapenos were huge slices too big to eat, and the salsa had way way too much garlic. Order of garlic bread: I've eaten better frozen garlic bread baked in the oven at home. The side of pizza sauce was way too sweet and full of sugar. The lobster pasta also came with garlic bread. A savvy server would probably have warned us that we were already getting garlic bread. We also got charged for something we didn't ordered. The KBC was decent, but again, since we missed happy happy by less than one minute we did not get the discount. If you love overpriced carbs, this place may be great for you. The restaurant was pretty full with locals and tourists. I won't be going back though.
(1)Ryan B.
The Ambassador is always on my list of must stops every time I return to the Yoop. The old, dated feel definitely is part of it's charm and I love how little it has changed since I was a child. Something special about their pizzas; favorite has always been a simple peperoni, onion, bell pepper combo. Wash that down with a Fish Bowl or two and I'm a happy guy.
(4)Jocelyne H.
The food is good. This is more for people who like loud and more of a party scene. The bar was full of college students drinking.. So I didn't care for that to much. . When we were in a couple of years ago, the jukebox was very loud. Our daughter can't handle loud noises. They were very nice and turned it down so it wouldn't hurt her ears. It is helpful to have a reservation if you can. It fills up fast on busy nights.
(4)Julie T.
great iconic restaurant in downtown Houghton! I highly recommend getting a booth next to the river or a seat outside (provided the weather is nice) for the best experience; you get a great view of the river and bridge. the food is wonderful and there is a wide variety to choose from, especially in the means of pizza! the lobster pizza is very good! the interior of The Ambassador is also something to admire. the ceiling, especially around the bar displays these beautiful, comic yet rustic murals of midget-like characters having a great time. most of the restaurant is dimly lit and furnished with dark wood. definitely a must if you are in the area!
(4)Cole N.
Good pizza (garlic chicken) and subs. Enjoyed the homemade ranch dressing for dipping (ordered extra).
(4)J. Chuck K.
The Ambassador has a cool, dated interior: paintings on the wall, dim lighting and nice bar setup. The BLT pizza and beef sandwich are good, but the overall price here is a bit high. I also thought it was weird they didn't have a deep fryer. There's not that many options in town, so I'd still go back when in the area. Also, I couldn't tell if the waitress was having a bad day, if it was Yooper hospitality, or if she was just a typical disgruntled college student pissed at THE man....but she was definitely not giving off a warm fuzzy personality.
(4)Jeff E.
Greek pizza was excellent, good service, outdoor deck looks like it would be nice once weather gets better
(4)Jessica S.
Anytime I come back to the U.P. a visit or two to The Ambassador is a necessity. Their tostada pizza with the taco sauce and sour cream on the side, and any of their fish bowls are amazing and to die for. I don't recall a single complaint from myself or anyone else regarding the food or service for as long as I can remember.
(5)Ralph S.
The food is decent but used to be far better. I used to work there and this is what my biggest problem is with the place. They will not allow a woman to be a cook , ever. They have straight out told qualified applicants that they will not hire a woman as a head chef ever. Quite simply put they are highly sexist. That is more a personal feeling though. As I said the food is decent and the service is top notch I wont knock them for what they do well. The old school mentality though I could live without.
(2)Stef H.
Although it's been around MUCH longer, I've been going to Ambo since I was a teenager. It was a staple for me when I lived in the Keweenaw and is now necessity for me when I visit back home. Having tried pizza all over the Twin Cities and the Midwest, I have yet to find a thin crust pizza that compares to Ambo's. I found a competitor in Park Rapids, MN, but the restaurant itself lacked the other things the Ambo has, such as the amazing fish bowl drinks. I'm partial to the Raspberry Lemonade, which includes Triple Sec and Raspberry Schnapps. Also, the nachos which are a fun appetizer to start off with--round, yellow tortilla chips and funky orange nacho cheese sauce. It's also mandatory to get a side of the house ranch dressing to dip the pizza in. The best part of the restaurant is the ambiance. The building has maintained the original hardwood interior from its Bosch brewery days, including the painted murals commissioned by Bosch himself. The larger dining room has a barrel-vaulted ceiling and many of the light fixtures and windows are stained glass. The one downside is that it gets crazy during tourist season (summer), so if you are going to go during that time, be sure to go earlier in the evening.
(5)Kevin R.
Have been there several times, love the lobster pizza as well as the tostada pizza.
(5)Dave M.
We visit the Keweenaw about every year and always stop at the Ambassador for pizza. I particularly like the vegetarian pizza. The setting is pleasant and the service friendly and skillful. My sons, the beer aficionados, approve of the beer selection.
(4)Gary S.
Ambassador came highly recommended from some former Houghton residents I know. I'm not sure if they've changed ownership or just had an off day, but I was not impressed. We had a large group, and service was friendly but slow and inattentive. We had to flag down the waitress on a few occasions to get refills. Our food came out pretty fast, and I was able to try 3 pizzas. The tostada pizza was recommended but disappointing. The refried beans were dry and killed the whole pizza. The Greek was interesting and flavorful, although kalamata olives would have been better than black and green. My favorite was our custom which had pepperoni, sausage, and green peppers with a traditional tomato sauce. It was good, but nothing made it stand out as an excellent pizza. On all the pizzas, the crust needed more flavor. Ambassador was decent as a college town pizza joint, but overall I wasn't impressed. They need to step up their service and their food quality. They could also use some more beers on tap.
(3)Scott N.
Some of the best pizza, mixed drinks, and service you'll find anywhere. The specialty pizzas are all extremely unique going with Mexican (Tostada), Italian (Garlic Chicken), New England (Lobster), or just the BLT! I have never found a pizza that tastes quite as good as the ones they serve at the 'Ambo'. In regards to Mixed Drinks, the specialty Ambo Fishbowls are second to none. My personal favourites are the Scorpion and the Sweet Tart. They're reasonably priced for anywhere but Houghton ($7 apiece) for 16-20oz of mixed drink. I highly recommend the Ambo for anyone visiting Houghton or studying at MTU. It served as a great late night hangout when I was a student.
(5)Brandon C.
I ordered the chef salad and was very happy with my selection. There were plenty of good ingredients in the salad and it came with more than enough dressing on the side. My only complaint is that the iceberg lettuce pieces were gigantic, and I had to spend some time cutting them down to an edible size. I would definitely dine here again though.
(4)Joe B.
Pros: Good food, people care, pizza is good, but most folks around here haven't been to New York or Chicago to try real pizza. It's good but not great. Decent food, never had a bad meal here. Cons: Very, very noisy. Bar first, food second. Not good for family, unless you like your children staring at a huge bar. If you're drinking the waitresses spend more time with you. Overall decent food, perfect for college students.
(3)Angel A.
I grew up in Houghton. Ambassador has the best subs, tostada pizza, and you have got to try a fishbowl!!! This is my fave restaurant in Houghton/Hancock! The ambiance is incredible as well as the food! Love the lasagna too and try the nachos with a side of jalapeños! Living in Maryland craving some Ambassador!
(5)Andy H.
Discovered while dropping my kid off for his first year at tech. Fish bowl to start and French dip to chow. Next time I plan to spend more time here. Great setting. Sit at the bar then get a table on the window in the room next to the bar room. Pizza looked good!!
(4)Olie R.
I was visiting Houghton for a conference and tried this place for lunch! I had the garlic chicken pizza and it was delicious. Try their homemade ranch dressing too, it's pretty great.
(4)Herbert A.
Nice atmosphere and friendly service. Had a Zombie fish bowl to start. It was flavorful, but lacked the kick of rum and brandy you would expect, so I ordered up a shot of Meyers Rum to add to my drink and it was great. So good that I slurped it down and ordered another before my food came. Split a Greek salad and some pizza. I think it was good, but I am definitely going back for a few more Zombie fish bowls tomorrow night with extra Meyers Rum shots before I leave town.
(4)Steve E.
The Ambo is a poster child for "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." They've been serving the same food, the same way for as long as I can remember. You will love most items and be "so so" about others. The subs are pretty boiler plate. Pizza is what you get when you eat here. My recommendation to you are the following two excellent pizzas: 1. Greek pizza (savory and flavorful) 2. Tostada pizza (crack on a crust) You've been warned. All other pizzas are just as yummy. I am like a Hoover vacuum when it comes to their pizza.
(5)Paige M.
I absolutely love the tostada pizza! I've tried some of the other pizzas as well, and they were good, but nothing can compare to the tostada pizza. It's definitely on my to-do list everytime I'm in the area! I will admit, however, that the women's bathroom is kind of creepy. There's a huge mirror on the wall between the women's and men's bathrooms, and I can't shake the feeling that it's a two-way mirror to the men's bathroom. I've been told otherwise by several men, but maybe it's just a guy-code sort of thing...?

The Ambassador has incredible ambiance, and is one of the BEST places in Houghton to get a cocktail. Those Fishbowls are dangerously delicious! If I were only coming here for drinks and company, I'd be throwing 5-stars around every where. Unfortunately, I have never been impressed with their food. The pizza is incredibly hyped here in Houghton, especially the Tostada, and to me, it just doesn't hit that mark. Sandwiches are pretty average. I will admit that its been awhile since I've actually tried a food item here, so maybe things have changed. Food aside, the drinks are really well-crafted! I suggest the Snake Jewels!

This is a review for dinner on non-pizza items. Was here on a recent summer Wed evening early - it gets crowded by 6 pm. We were tourists and had never been here - was hoping the Keweenauw Brewing had been a pub that served food, but alas. The decor, tables, chairs scream low budget here. We started with the chicken wings and garlic toast - fine, nothing special. THen I had their pasta 'special' - spaghetti with olive oil, fresh tomato and garlic topped with salmon filet. This was decent and the the fish was cooked nicely. My husband had the Mediterrean chicken sandwich. It comes with NOTHING. And we saw no sides to order (no fries or anything). So a BIG DING on this aspect of this restaurant. I really would not recommend it to anyone coming from out of town. But then again as I said we did not eat their pizza.
(3)Martino B.
Great atmosphere, good sandwiches, salads and pizza. (and cheap drinks too) Always a must stop.
(4)Mike S.
My family and I visited after reading several good reviews for their pizza. Something must have changed between the other reviews and when we visited. The pizza was one of the worst we have had. The pizza sauce had an overly sweet taste...almost as though there was a spice in the sauce. Notice how I said spice and not seasoning. The garlic bread lacked flavor. Perhaps the other food on the menu would be more flavorful. The views are great and location is wonderful. The decor is very neat especially when you consider how old the murals are. Great service saved this from being a total loss.
(2)Susan S.
Great pizza and drinks!

I know some will disagree, but I believe pizza is about the sauce first, then the crust. On both items I have to say Ambassador's pizza is ok. My kids disagreed and didn't really like it though. The crust seemed pre-made. You are not allowed substitutions on standard pizzas, but you can add topping (of which they have quite a few). The atmosphere is more bar than restaurant. It's a relatively small location which is busy and difficult to navigate around. Our waitress was nice but too busy to be adequately attentive to our refills. The pizza arrived hot . . . really hot . . . too hot. It seemed cruel to be so hungry and not be able to enjoy what was right in front of us. Despite all this I still thought the experience was alright, but I expected more based on previous reviews and the fact it's in a college town.
(3)Tom C.
Go for the classic sub or BLT pizza. We hit the Ambassador at least once every time we visit Houghton.
(5)Ted N.
Nice view of river & bridge. I had the Reuben and it was tasty but not as tasty as the micro brews. Red jacket ale was great. Pizzas seem to be the specialty. Has a small town college vibe to it. If you come to Houghton/Hancock this is a "must visit" place.
(4)Andrea M.
Every time I go up to the UP, we stop here for dinner. The service is great and their taco pizza is delicious!
(4)Alison W.
Love this place! Excellent roast beef. Any pizza is awesome!
(4)Nick K.
Really cool place downtown Houghton. Nachos were nothing special but the broccoli cheese soup was rich and creamy. The Tostada Pizza was great!!! The price was great definitely a place I will go again.
(4)David M.
I love the lobster pizza and it's lake view location! Price is affordable.
(5)Sarah N.
Absolutely nothing bad to say about the Ambo except the fishbowls are $8 and about 90% ice (not a good alcohol to money ratio there). You must eat pizza and drink KBC and stare at the awesomeness of the lift bridge for the ultimate Houghton experience.
(5)Cindi B.
Gave the Ambo a second chance since we'd heard so much about the Tostada pizza and thought that our summer experience might have been a fluke. Sadly, it was a disappointment, too. I think it must be a college-kid acquired taste or something, because whatever "salsa" they put on top looks like some sort of ketchup and leaves an aftertaste of vomit. The pizza gets quickly soggy and is fairly overpriced for what you get. Fortunately, there are a couple of better pizza places not far away. Save this place for the students.
(2)Ashley L.
Their subs are my favorite!!!! MMM. On that subject, one thing I'll point out it that they staple the sandwich in a paper bag.....while for me it isn't an issue and I've gotten my subs here for years, I have always wondered how that isn't seen as a safety hazard. Tape would probably be best, but I haven't accidentally lost or swallowed a staple yet. The pizza is really good too, the taco kind is my favorite. I love this place, it holds a special place in my heart. I even got a t-shirt (:
(5)Adrian H.
The food is very good here, especially the pizzas. They have a variety of specialty pizzas ranging from a tostada pizza (ground beef, lettuce, tomato, onion, and taco sauce) to a lobster pizza. They also have sandwiches and Italian cuisine. As for the fishbowls, it is a 14 oz mixed drink that costs roughly $8 (depending on what you order). They are quite good, but more expensive than drinks in most bars in the area.
(4)Cass H.
I think the only thing I've ever had is the tostada pizza and it was AMAZING. Highly recommended!
(4)Joan S.
Just wanted to add a bit THANKS to this bunch--I ordered a lunch for take out for my office including subs and pizzas. All done on time and all was delicious when I got it to work. They have a new Greek pizza which is wonderful--but would never skip an opportunity to try the veggie or tostada pizzas!

A friend of mine who went to college in Houghton highly recommended the Ambassador, and if you are looking for classic college food the Ambassador is for you. We, unfortunately, were looking for a little something more. I called my friend after driving through the Houghton/Hancock area and finding nothing that appealed to us. We had driven past this one place and said, "that looks like a dive bar." Little did I know that THAT was where my friend was directing me to east. While it looks like a dive bar on the outside, the ambiance inside is actually quite nice. Lots of dark, hard wood with some stained glass thrown in there to please the eye. It's clear that the people around town liked it because we went on a Monday night, and it was quite hoppin'. We got squeezed into a tiny corner booth next to a large table of college students drinking copious amounts of alcohol and leaving the table every ten minutes to catch yet another smoke. When I talked to my friend, he said that I had to get a pizza and had, had, HAD to promise I'd get a Fishbowl. I didn't inquire, but I promised on both accounts. This pizza has a very thin crust, so if you like a thin crust pizza you'll like this one. And, a Fishbowl is a big cup of alcohol. They have a full page on the menu of Fishbowls alone. I had the Fun on the Beach. I recommend it. But many of the people around me had some blue drink, so clearly it's popular. So if you like thin crust pizza, yummy alcoholic beverages, and the college scene, this place is for you.
(3)Andi P.
As a Michigan Tech alumni, I spent many long hours at the Ambo eating pizza and drinking some intoxicating fishbowls. As its a place with a lot of great memories I have a hard time saying anything against it, however, times have changed. They still have the wonderful pizzas I love - Tostada, Chicken and Broc, and Lobster- they still have the amazing Salsa and Chips!! But where things have really taken a downfall is their once amazing fishbowls :( It used to be just one fishbowl was enough to get your night up and running.. now, they barely put a shot or two for the entire fishbowl and the price has gone up. I will keep my fingers crossed that the fishbowls will go back to the epic ones that I remember years ago but I will definitely still make it out for the wonderful pizza and charming atmosphere.... One tip, if its Winter Carnival, dont expect to get a table during dinner hour because this place with its tiny tables and booths will fill up fast!
(3)Amy K.
We love the pizza here: thin crust, flavorful sauce, a variety of toppings. The sandwiches are also fantastic. Nothing is fried, only baked. We've never had a bad meal at the Ambassador. Another plus: no smoking anymore. It's another reason to choose it over some of the other establishments in town.
(4)Nicole D.
We stopped in for lunch on our way up to Copper Harbor and were delighted by the Ambassador. We loved the gnome murals, the friendly service and yes, the tostada pizza. Tostada pizza is basically a taco salad on a pizza crust and it's the perfect combination of cold crisp lettuce (iceberg, natch), warm taco meat, melty cheese and piquant salsa. Loved it. Also, it must be shared that no tostada pizza is complete without Keweenaw Brewing Company beer. I like the Widowmaker (dark stout), but there are plenty of other choices, too.
(4)John L.
Best "speciality" pizzas in town. The rest are comparable to other places.
(5)RestaurantLover S.
Was just up for a visit, and The Tostada Pizza is exactly as it was when I left 6 years ago...FANTASTIC! If you bring leftover Tostada Pizza home, everyone is suddenly your friend...! Every sandwich I ever had there in the past was great too. I like the Reubens, Rachels (Reuben with roast beef instead of corned beef) and Roast Beef Au Jus in particular. Looking at other reviews, I wonder how people can't get things even close to correct: The Fishbowls are over 20 oz. drinks for $7.75, NOT 14 oz., a better deal than ANY drink here in Florida where it's 6 bucks for a plain old Jack 'n' Coke half the size. If ya wanna do the true Yooper /MTU thing, try racing your friends to suck down an entire Fishbowl (Scorpions are my Fave) as fast as you can thru 2 straws for a good northern "Brain Freeze", and have someone drive ya home if you have more than one. Also, the Ambassador's Tostada Pizza is known far and wide, and everyone that returns there for a visit wants one, so don't insult it by calling it a "taco pizza" like cheap-ass restaurants serve. The Ambassador's reputation is well-deserved because the quality of their food has remained high for generations of Yoopers and Michigan Tech students alike. If you visit Houghton, MI you need to make time for at least one stop at the Ambassador. If you make The Ambassador your very first stop for dining out, I predict you'll be back again before you leave.
(5)Mark U.
This is the best! I went to Michigan Tech in the mid 70's and the quality is the same. I live up here in the summer now and visit whenever in Houghton. Yes caters to students but more to locals and family's too. Every one loves the pizza for sure but the real treat is the traditional sub!!!!!!!!!!!!! do not miss.
(5)Kshanti G.
Solid lasagna and a portion big enough to split. Also a cool looking place.. Although I don't get the leprechaun murals in an Italian restaurant :)
(4)Khianna W.
I was traveling through town and someone had suggested that I try AMBO and I found the experience to be half what I expected, at least. The food was mediocre, the atmosphere was forced and the employees table waiting was found wanting. Would I ever go back? NO. Suggest anyone to spend their time and money here? NEVER. Perhaps the restaurant management should do some homework and see how a real restaurant is run?
(1)Zach B.
Fun place, good atmosphere, great pizza, and great fishbowls.
(5)Tiger M.
Best subs in Houghton! I always get the 3 cheese and I love it. The pizza is also really good. Excellent bar! Make sure you try one of the fish bowls. They used to be a lot bigger but they still get the job done.
(5)Steven L.
Love this place! I have to hit it up every time I'm in Houghton. I stick to the tostado pizza for dinner but have enjoyed many of the sandwiches for lunch. Back in the day (college days) I'd put down a fishbowl or two or three, but now I like to drink their microbrews.
(5)Sam S.
The Ambassador is a fantastic place. Everything from the food to the decor to the sound is a unique experience. It's got large windows with a view of the Portage Canal and the Houghton-Hancock lift bridge (the heaviest in the world - whatever that means). The ambiance is cozy, good for a couple or a group of 12. The buffalo wings are a must. Seriously, I swear by it. The best I've had my entire life. It takes 15 minutes after you order it, and it's well worth the wait. It doesn't have - or need - any nonsense bbq or hot sauce. It's that good. The garlic-chicken-broccoli pizza is terrific, the taco pizza is one-of-a-kind good, and its signature dish, the lasagna, is rich and juicy. Sandwiches are really good as well. I like that the sub crust is lightly toasted. Crunchy. Ah, the fishbowls. Don't leave without having one, but be sure you either have a designated driver or stay at the hotel across the street, 'cos you'll want another one. And another... Good times. Service is prompt. The smoking section can get a bit smoky sometimes - it's the U.P. afterall - tho' the stench never penetrates the non-smoking section (maybe it's the fishbowls talking?). One of the oldest restaurants in the area, and definitely one of the best.
(5)Richard L.
The Ambassador had some great atmosphere and some interesting history. The cheese and broccoli soup was the best I've had in a long time. My girlfriend loves the pizza, but I was not impressed, of course she had a couple fishbowls over the course of the evening. The Italian soda wasn't that great either, mine tasted like caramel extract poured right in some carbonated water. All in all it is an enjoyable experience. Almost worth going just for the wall and the poem on the menus about it, and if you like good soup, then go.
(3)Christina H.
Although their menu is relatively limited, the Ambassador's pizza is second to none. Every time I'm in the area, I have to stop by Ambassador for a great meal. Great views of Portage Canal and Mount Ripley accentuate the awesome atmosphere of The Ambassador. Love it!
(4)Shazoo R.
Amazing pizza! a good selection of other foods.
(4)Patrick R.
Decent. The sandwiches are bland, but their mixed drinks are awesome.
(3)Ann G.

We were in Houghton to tour the campus of Michigan Tech University for my son. Being a college town, there were plenty of places to eat. Being a small town, they weren't all your run of the mill chain restaurants. We had heard good things about the Ambassador so decided to give it a try. My 13 year old son and I got the Rachel sandwich. The spiced saurkraut was awesome! We both really enjoyed our meals. My husband got the Reuben and ate what I couldn't finish of my sandwich. He liked the Reuben but preferred the Rachel. And my 18 year old son got a thin crust pizza with pepperoni and bacon. He really enjoyed his pizza and let us all swipe a piece. Not the best I've ever had, but good. We also got an appetizer, nachos. That was also okay. Their salsa is not anything to write home about. Foodwise, I would suggest to try the sandwiches for sure. I love the murals on the walls and ceilings. The artwork and atmosphere took my rating from a 3 to a 4. Plus, it's hard to beat the prices for a sit down meal.
(4)Ryan B.
(2)Brandon C.

(5)Gary S.
(5)Angel A.
(4)Paige M.
(5)Amanda M.

(5)Brandon W.

Absolutely nothing bad to say about the Ambo except the fishbowls are $8 and about 90% ice (not a good alcohol to money ratio there). You must eat pizza and drink KBC and stare at the awesomeness of the lift bridge for the ultimate Houghton experience.

I think the only thing I've ever had is the tostada pizza and it was AMAZING. Highly recommended!

Best "speciality" pizzas in town. The rest are comparable to other places.

Solid lasagna and a portion big enough to split. Also a cool looking place.. Although I don't get the leprechaun murals in an Italian restaurant :)

(3)Ann G.
Great place! Nice people. I love the decor. Old school restaurant.
