I think that family diners in small towns can be hit or miss. Sometimes you find a spectacular gem with delicious food and sometimes you find a dud. Unfortunately, this place was a total dud. I came here with a friend for lunch and the food was absolutely terrible. I had a turkey wrap and he had a burger. The food was not fresh and the wrap was poorly made. My friend's burger was not cooked well and the meat was tough. Even the fries sucked. It was so unappetizing that neither of us came close to finishing our meals. The only positive thing about this place was that the waitress was attentive. I would give this place zero stars if I could.

Came with a group of 7 on Sunday after a weekend of swimming and beer. We waited about half an hour for a table. Surprisingly quick, considering how small the place is. The hostess and waitresses were all incredibly nice and kept us updated on when our table would be ready I tried to order Chicken and Biscuits, but unfortunately they were out. The waitress apologized a lot, and I ordered country fried steak instead. I got a free bowl of coleslaw out of it- a little sweet, but fresh and tasty. I needed it. Let me tell you, I demolished that steak. It was flavorful, not dried out, with great breading. The sausage gravy was a fantastic complement. I could have used half a dollop more, but I didn't actually need it, good coverage. The hash browns on the side were perfectly cooked- crispy on the outside, salted well. It certainly hit the spot. Everyone else's meals were plentiful and I didn't hear any complaints. A grilled salmon salad ordered by one of my friends looked fantastic. The orange juice that I needed was boring and probably from a big plastic jug, but it helped me through the morning. Highly recommend this place for breakfast, I'm sure the lunch and dinner are all just as good. I'd go back!

5 stars for service... 3.5 stars for food. American Fries were cooked to order, well done, which I appreciated, but lacking in taste. I ordered sausage gravy and biscuits which were very fresh, and you can tell were home made. Tasted very good. I also ordered a side of sausage patties to go with my sausage gravy and biscuits. I ordered them well done, they were cooked perfectly tasted wonderful. The server was the best. She was very friendly, efficient and made sure my order was just right!

Great food with a great atmosphere for small northern Michigan restaurant. Staff is friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. Its a cold and rainy day and this is the perfect spot to bring a smile back to your face.

Pretty darn good breakfast served here. They have some enormous pancakes... big, fluffy, hubcap sized pancakes! They know how to cook their bacon, and serve the sausage plump. The scrambled eggs are a flight of fluffy. It's a smallish building, with wood everywhere that screams "You're up north now!"

The food was delicious and the service was great! The kids ate all of the food in their baskets. My wife had an Italian wrap and I had the gyro. I had better gyros, but this was pretty tasty. Finally, the prices were pretty decent. Our family of four ate for 42.00. That's pretty cheap for our crew.

Good home cooking! Finally a restaurant that knows how to make crispy fries. Our family had a variety from burgers to hot turkey sandwiches and everyone liked their meal.

Good omelets! Good service, reasonable prices. An "up north" diner with a brisk breakfast trade. Decor is up north "antler", but more tasteful than some. The wait staff really hustled, and by the time we finished our meal, there were lots of people waiting for a table. We would definitely return. My husband is hard to please, and he gave the ham and cheese omelet a thumbs up--which is a big compliment.

Of the 3 breakfast restaurants we tried in HL, this one suited us best. Coffee and service were good and friendly, and the omelettes were nicely done. Place is clean overall and the waiting line moved quickly. Polish Platter was a nice option, even if a bit heavy for breakfast, but you sure can work up an appetite in MI in the Summer! Would definitely stop in again.
