One of the best! There's always a waiting line going out the front door because this place is fantastic. It's a bit cramped inside and you can usually strike up a conversation with the neighbors which actually helps add to the experience. The HBO or hashbrown omelette is the best and get it with homemade fresh wheat toast which is thick and warm and just melts in your mouth. Trust me you only need the small. I order the large when I want to take some home for dinner. There's a reason people line up for this one.

I'm obsessed with the Philly Steak Omelette and the homemade bread is the best! A favorite Sunday stop.

Plan to wait if you visit on a weekend. We didn't mind waiting because the food was very good. I got the hash brown omelette which I highly recommend; my boyfriend got the sausage minis which he loved. We both got cinnamon rolls too but we definitely could've split one, they are huge! I wish we had ordered the cinnamon rolls after our entrees though because they got Luke warm pretty quickly. Overall a nice breakfast joint!

We came Friday morning and there was a waiting line, but it moved along fast. The service was very friendly and they were all very fast and attentive:) The food was delicious, portions were great for the pricing, which was very good.

Worth the wait....it is a great choice for breakfast...we did the sausage and biscuts and also one of their mini sausage biscuits....a solid choice is the cinnamon roll.

Great diner on a great street with great prices. It's a small place and was definitely busy when we went but sat at the counter within 5 minutes. I had the birds nest with 2 eggs and white toast. My wife had the same but she got a cinnamon roll instead of toast (which was not extra). All in all it was a delicious breakfast with great service.

After living in Holland for 17 years I have eaten at every restaurant & the windmill is the best of the best. On the weekend as a testament to their quality there is usually a wait on the weekends and events like Tulip Time. If you are hungry for the best food in town this is your destination. It is also very affordable. I recommend this place and after you eat here you will to. Thank you love ya & God bless you

Had a late breakfast and wasn't sure what to expect. Traditional diner feel, cool counter seating, basic diner food. I wasn't all that impressed, but the service was good and the food was lightening fast! Beware, the bathroom was absolutely tiny and beyond that, pretty average place.

The Windmill blew me away! The pics of the hash brown omelette do not do it justice!!! It was amazing and a half! Got the cinnamon roll as a substitute for toast and was NOT disappointed. It's super sweet though, so be prepared! But this place nailed it on all accounts. The girl that helped me was great, got right in, and hot food just a few minutes after I ordered. Not sure if I will be back to Holland anytime soon but for sure the Windmill will be a must stop if so!

Not sure what the fuss is about. Decent sandwich, decent service.

  • Ken C.

I'm a regular here for breakfast. If there is a downside, it's limited seating. Try their omelet and don't forget to ask for a beverage to go, at no extra cost.

  • Josh R.

If you haven't had a hash brown omelet then you haven't lived. Service is alright, coffee is okay. Really it's all about the cinnamon roll and hash brown omelet!

  • Olivia C.

Visiting from Texas, saw this place had great reviews and they were Right!!! I ordered the birds nest with the homemade wheat toast. Both delicious, the hash browns were perfectly cooked with my over hard egg on top with bacon bits and cheese, yummy!! The OMG the bread was so freakin moist, melted in your mouth. The place is tiny we didn't have to wait but my guess on the weekend will be busy

I enjoyed the hash-brown omelet. The giant cinnamon roll was also tasty. I love that they open at 5 AM.

Awesome breakfast place in Holland. The only place open on the block before 10AM on a Saturday morning made parking easy and we quickly spotted the line. Hashbrown Omelette: Oh yes!! This is definitely worth trying after we read all the raving reviews. If you love hashbrowns and then having some meat inside of it, this is it. In fact, this entree was the highlight of my 4 days in Holland. Cinnamon roll: As everyone raves about them, it is true - these are good. The only tough part is that they are served at room temperature so my family boxed ours to reheat in the microwave at home. Service: Once you are seated and on your way, the staff is great. Providing insights into how big an entree is, what are the regulars' favorites, and doing their best to keep those drink glasses filled. NOTE: If you have a big group, it might be easier to order and take back to the hotel. The 1st day we waited almost an hour for enough seating to allow our party of 12 to sit together. Despite our 3 requests to seat us in smaller groups, the staff insisted on asking us to wait to seat us together. On Day 2 we knew - take it back to the comfort of our hotel. Short 10 min drive and food was still hot and enjoyable (we had 3 hashbrown omelettes and 6 cinnamon rolls so your experience may vary with food staying at good temps.)

  • Jade E.

Their hashbrown omelette is to die for. Even mini is more than enough for one. And take cinnamon roll to go, cause it's really simply the best one I've ever had. Waiters and waitresses are great, smiley and helpfull. And attentive also. Prepare yourself for waiting on the line, about 5-20 min, but it's gonna be worth it!

    (5)
  • Jill C.

Absolutely love their breakfast!! The homemade bread is perfect!! I recommend the getting the homemade toast with breakfast.

    (5)
  • Shawna L.

Best place in town, I love the food and the staff are very nice and they are very helpful. I wish they were open longer. I honestly love how fresh the food is.

Fabulous downtown "mom & pop" greasy spoon type of diner. The pancakes are wonderful, their burgers are good, just a great place to eat!

    (5)
  • Matt B.

My order was simple; a quarter pounder with cheese and a side of fries. The burger was thin but cooked correctly and the fries were simple but satisfying. I got exactly what I expected and was happy with the low bill. If the wait time is long at nearby establishments this is a satisfactory option for a meal.

Things you have to eat when you're at The Windmill: (01) The Full Hashbrown Omlette and (02) A Cinnamon Roll. Then you need a nap.

Best and most affordable breakfast in Holland, Michigan! Staff was super friendly and recommended various favorites when my wife and I couldn't decide. A must stop for breakfast in Holland!

    (5)
  • Kelsi C.

You simply must try a gargantuan cinnamon roll. My hubs had the hashbrown omelette, and I the birds nest. Absolutely delish, and our waitress was attentive and friendly.

First time in Holland MI and it's seemed like this was the place to get breakfast when staying in town so the wife and I gave it a try. After reading some reviews and hearing from some people the Hash brown omelette was the way to go, so I ordered that. Apparently you get a side of toast with that which apparently can include pancakes or French toast! So I was all like why would you get plain bread when you can get pancakes or French toast? Everything was good. The Hash brown omelet tasted much like you might imagine a large half moon hash brown and egg omelette stuffed with cheese, onion, and choice of meat. Can't say that the pancakes were that great. They were a little chewy but tasted okay. Ultimately this place is a diner. The coffee isn't that good the breakfast fair is good and inexpensive. You can eat a lot and feel full. If you are looking for a upscale and elevated breakfast/brunch spot this is not it. If you want good food for a good price then give it a go.

  • Korina S.

Busy breakfast diner, friendly staff. Expect to wait as they do not take reservations. We were a party of seven and they seated us at a table for six. We were very tight. Menu has a decent selection, but not very extensive. No waffles or crepes. Food portions were decent. Side of hash browns serves two. Omelettes were pretty good. Homemade bread was excellent.

  • Amy T.

This restaurant is a gem! My husband had the hashbrown omelet and loved it. I had a one-egg bird's nest which was so good. In fact it even LOOKED so good that a woman at the next table ordered it too. Service was stellar even though there was a line forming outside the restaurant. The waitress did not make us feel rushed and even brought us some coffee to go. That being said, it's not a huge restaurant so it's best to get there before the big rush at 10am or so if you are eating there on a weekend. We arrived around 9:30 on a Sunday and just minutes later the line started forming.

  • Elizabeth B.

Don't expect a Bloody Mary here... the Windmill Restaurant is good, old-fashioned, diner-style breakfast! We arrived right before lunchtime and waited in line for 10-15 minutes to be seated. I ordered the french toast with sides of eggs, bacon, and sausage patties. The sides were cooked well but pretty standard. However, my french toast was extremely light and fluffy and delicious! I also stole a few bites of my husband's hash brown omelet which had great flavor. I would definitely check out this place again.

    (4)
  • Kevin W.

I would give it a 4.5 overall. I got the small hashbrown omelette and fried cinnamon roll. The small hashbrown omelette wasn't very small. It was very tasty. Crunchy hashbrown with cheesy and bacon interior. The fried cinnamon roll tasted like an elephant ear. Mmm.. good. My wife got the western omelette. She liked it also. We both got coffee. It was decent. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Our only complaint was waiting in line versus putting name down. Almost had someone skipping the line on us. And i didn't get a refill on my coffee, but i did get a to go cup!

Truly one of the best for foodies. Great breakfast from mini hash brown omelettes , one of the best sweet rolls , French toast with whole wheat homemade bread. There tuna and bacon sandwich . All very good . Well recommended

  • Austin N.

Timeless diner with exactly what you would want for breakfast. I really liked the sugary doughy cinnamon rolls. Unfortunately for me im not a huge omelette fan but all my friends are and they had the best things to say about Windmill's omelettes. Head on over.

  • Bui T.

I love it ! My favorite brunch restaurant. You will expect to wait for a bit but not too long, probably about 10 minutes. The food is good, customer service is excellent. Serving size is large. I love this place.

Very friendly place, had the famous "hash-brown omelette" and split the biscuits & gravy and cinnamon roll.

I was instinctively going to give it 4 stars but there's nothing for me to complain about or wish things were different. Located on a busy stretch of 8th street near River Avenue, there is some public parking just north on River Avenue. There isn't much room near the front to wait but if you're near the cashier, you can at least smell the different candles for sale. I took the recommendation of other yelpers and went with the hashbrown omelet since I like hash browns more than eggs. The waiter asked if I wanted onions (yes!). The waiter also always asked if I wanted refills on my water rather than assuming. My lady had one of the daily specials and really enjoyed her meal as well. She asked for her hash browns crispy and it came out correctly. I enjoy hash browns more than eggs so I was really happy with the omelet since it kept the cheese and bacon warm throughout. My rye toast was well buttered and the ambiance was nice. The high backs on the booths gave us privacy yet you could see the decor of the Delft porcelainware. Being that it was July 4th weekend, they also decorated it appropriately with American flags. Overall, it was a great meal and a place I'd definitely return to for future meals.

Hash brown omelette was amazing! Cinnamon roll huge and loaded with icing. Alvin was our server. He was so friendly and great!

This little breakfast spot is nestled in the heart of Holland and is a favorite of all the locals. The restaurant is small so expect to wait for a table, but it is worth the wait. The wait staff is always friendly and service is good. The Hashbrown Omelet is an omelet stuffed with your choice of sausage, ham or bacon and onions and cheese wrapped in crispy Hashbrown! The cinnamon rolls are great and are large enough to be shared. If you enjoy breakfast then make this a must stop if you are in Holland.

  • Stephanie S.

Hash brown omelette. I'll be dreaming about this for weeks. Crispy hash browns folded into just-right eggs, gooey cheddar and meat of your choice. To die for. Add in home baked bread for toast and this is easily one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Two of us waited 20 minutes for a table and ended up sitting at the counter. But it was so worth it.

    (5)
  • Laurie L.

This place was awesome! You have to have their house made hashbrowns. They are killer! And their freshly baked wheat bread makes delicious toast. Omelets were done perfectly. A pleasant ambiance with tasteful Dutch decor--wooden shoes, Delft china pieces, posters and framed clippings of local events and stories. A warm and charming place on the main street through town.

  • Liz S.

With a line out the door for breakfast it seems to me that their seating process should be more organized. Leaving it up to impatient and hungry guests to stand over the shoulders of other diners is at best a lazy way to do business. I won't be returning to the Windmill if they don't create some sort of waiting list/buzz system for people to wait in an organized way for a table. Leaving it up to the guest is unacceptable.

  • Bob B.

A group of friends used to meet here for breakfast, we chose to move. The service was slow the food average, and we could not handle the bugs.

  • Ida S.

At first I was worried that my friend and I had walked into a greasy little diner. The menu was plain, the prices so cheap. However, OMG!!!!! Delish comfort food like I haven't had in years. I gulped down my fave.... Egg salad on toasted homemade bread with crisp bacon and lettuce and tomato slices. Wow it was really good. My friend had the hash brown omelette. It was huge and filled with sausage, mushrooms, peppers and onions. Yummmmers!

  • Samuel F.

Classic Holland restaurant. Hashbrown omlet and other similar offerings are great. Also, make sure you get cinnamon rolls in place of toast. The rolls are about the size of a person's head. Keep in mind that you can't make reservations and restaurant has limited space. For this reason, it is best to go during odd times (aka not Saturday morning). Like almost all other restaurants in downtown Holland, Windmill is closed on Sundays. All Hope students and visitors to Holland should try it out at some point.

We were looking for a place for breakfast before we hit the road back to Chicago and knew we made a good bet when locals chatted us up in line. It's a first come, first serve, old fashioned diner with fab food. We were advised the omelets were tasty so the hub had the hash brown omelet which was fantastic. I had french toast with sides and overall very good. The coffee wasn't great but we thought the food was good and the service was excellent. We got there just in time and had a short wait but beware, the line will trail out the door.

  • Nathan L.

Great place to eat and the place is always friendly. Busy a lot and you might have to wait but it is worth the delicious reasonably priced food. Best for breakfast.

    (5)
  • Tim N.

It tastes great!!! I wish that I could give more than 4 stars...the rating system should go up to at least 5 stars. But anyway...this is the greatest restaurant I have been to in my life.

  • Froilan N.

If you're looking for a good breakfast... This is the spot! I had the hash brown omelette and it was delicious. I highly recommend it with ham. The french toast and she finished every morsel. She loved it... Mind you, she's a very picky eater.

  • Shelby H.

We were walking around downtown looking for a place to eat breakfast when a local stopped us and told us we should go to the Windmill. So glad we did! I had the mini hash brown omelette and it was delicious. The mini was more along the lines of a normal sized omelette and not at all "mini". The coffee was really good too, which is simple but something a lot of places manage to screw up. They had a lot if good sounding options on the menu and it was tough to decide what to get. Out waiter was super nice and helpful. I will go back for sure my next time in Holland.

  • Marcela A.

I got the Hashbrown Omelet (which comes with the most delicious homemade wheat toast - seriously, it is so good!) after a good dispute with my boyfriend because we can never order the same thing. We like to try as much as we can. So he end up ordering the Windmill Favorite, but when I saw his pancakes I almost switched back. But as we were sharing everything, I got to eat pancakes and Hashbrown Omelet. Coffee is ok. Service is good too and food is just great!

    (5)
  • Janelle P.

Everything on the breakfast menu is so yummy!!! Huge portions, quick service and nice staff! Be prepared to wait for in line for 20 mins if you go on a Sunday morning!

    (5)
  • Kathryn G.

Best breakfast restaurant!! We go 1-2 a week and get the hashbrown omelet! Amazing staff!!

    (5)
  • Stacey T.

Great breakfast place, tight on space. I ordered the feta cheese and spinach omelet. It also had tomatoes, mushrooms and light onions per the menu. The omelet actually had excessive onions, so be cautious if you do not like large amounts. The homemade wheat toast was amazing, best I have ever had. It gets busy, but the line moves fairly quick and the wait on food is minimal even during the rush.

  • Kristan W.

I've gone to this restaurant about 3 times now for Breakfast since moving to Holland, MI. Each time the food is great, although sometimes a bit greasy. The homemade bread is delicious. The reason it doesn't get 5 stars from me is the service. We waited 45 minutes for someone to even say hi to us when we walked in one morning. The staff are always running around like crazy or chatting it up behind the bar area gossiping. They take your order and go, maybe visiting your table once more for the check and to see if you need a drink refill. They are also not very polite when answering the phone. No 'thank you' or 'goodbye' when they answer your questions they just hang up on you abruptly. If you're a big breakfast person and can get past the poor service and the crowd then give it a try; the food is worth it.

  • Scott C.

Decided to give this place a try based on the positive reviews from my fellow Yelpers. What a great little diner. They have a sign out front that says "Breakfast Served All Day" which is music to my eyes, I love breakfast. I ordered their "Hashbrown Omelette", one of their specialties. It was amazing, I probably could eaten two of them. Service was attentive and my food came out quickly. I will definitely be back!

  • Angela A.

Great food for a great price! From Ohio, and would go back for sure. I had the cheeseburger and my husband had the birds nest. Both were delicious!

    (5)
  • Full C.

Great little diner that is best known for its breakfast but has a full, expansive menu. You can order anything on the menu at any time, so having a good number of choices is never a problem. 4 daily breakfast specials, each under $3.25, are a good place to start. The service is steady, as they won't let you see the bottom of your coffee cup. Probably the best place for "people watching" in all of Holland. Oh..and get there early, especially on the weekends. Unless you like lines, of course. And don't bring more than 3 others with you...this is not the place for large groups. Very good, inexpensive food. Check it out!

  • Krista C.

Amazing. Great service. Don't go on sunday during prime brunch time or you'll wait. Delicious food.

    (5)
  • Fate O.

Love this place! The atmosphere make you feel at home. Breakfast DELICIOUS at a reasonable price. Husband- wish they also serve crepe. Wife- cheese omelette tastes fresh and cooked to perfection.

    (5)
  • Margie W.

You know the food is great when you give up plans to wait 30 minutes to eat at the Windmill restaurant. Make sure you get there with plenty of extra time. Table for 7 and 7 happy customers. See pics I've posted. Servings are large, prices are good and food is delicious!

    (5)
  • Brady H.

The hash brown omelet is true breakfast innovation. Otherwise, this is a nice local neighborhood diner - a good throw back. For some odd reason, no one acknowledged us when we arrived and we waited quite a while for a table even though there were empty tables and staff kept walking by us, but once we were seated, service was friendly and the food was fine. If you are in the neighborhood, check it out.

    (4)
  • Big E.

Great breakfast. I had the Hash brown omelette and added sour cream smeared over the top... and that it was. I'm in Holland once a month, and this is a regular for me now. And the home made bread.... yum. Go early or be prepared to wait.

    (4)
  • Indy J.

Friendly, inexpensive, great food. We eat here often every summer when we visit Holland.

I had one of the best cup of coffee, breakfasts and pancakes here. I recommend this place when visiting the downtown area.

  • Tony S.

Pepper and I were staying at CityFlats hotel and we missed the continental breakfast so I looked up a good breakfast place on Yelp! and chose this. We walked past it the day before and the breakfast being cooked up smelled really good. Service is fast and pleasant and the omelets are delicious. Tip: If you are asked what kind of toast you want, do not forget to get the homemade wheat. Trust me!

    (4)
  • Taffy G.

We only stopped in here for pie & ice cream.. I had a beautiful piece of coconut cream... one of the best I've ever had.. only ice cream is vanilla... boooo

  • Brandon Z.

This is where you go for breakfast in Holland. It's a diner, only open for breakfast and lunch. The omelettes are pouch-style-- inside your pocket of egg is a center of cheese or other fillings. Hash browns. Townies, not tourists, but a more casual environment than the somewhat geriatric crowd of Russ'. I don't love the redecoration they did a few years back-- the new booths are too tall and you can't see the rest of the restaurant from your seat anymore.

    (4)
  • Dave C.

We picked the Windmill after reading reviews on Yelp. Glad we came here. Sat at the counter and ordered the hash brown omelet with sausage. I ordered the mini size which is a normal size anywhere else. Counter service from Alvin was excellent. A few taps on his iPad and our order was in. Omelet was delicious with the homemade wheat toast. My wife ordered the same while the kids ate pancakes with whipped cream. The strawberries were previously frozen which I hate but the kids still liked. This is a typical small town diner with very good food and excellent service. Go before 11am Monday thru Friday and prices for breakfast are much lower. All in all very good experience, we would go back.

  • Amanda K.

Do not miss this place for breakfast if you are in downtown Holland. Hashbrown omlette w/bacon and homemade wheat toast were incredible. Hubby had biscuits and gravy; he was satisfied. Superior service; coffee cups were always full!

    (4)
  • Kevin B.

Absolutely fantastic food. The best home made bread (toast) we have ever had!! This place is a total local hole in the wall, which usually has the best food. Great price, great service & excellent food. Will definitely be back!

    (5)
  • Penumbra E.

The restaurant was super busy and was not easy to get into with our 3 little kids in tow. I ordered the french dip and it was pretty small and nothing special. Looking at the other reviews, I think I picked the wrong item from the menu. I'll try again when its not so busy.

    (3)
  • Beth N.

Always a line out front, but the line moves fast! Great service! Amazing cinnamon rolls! Great coffee! Great breakfast!

    (5)
  • Bethany K.

It's weird to say the toast is the good part of a breakfast, but the homemade bread here is so good, it kind of makes the breakfast. The eggs and bacon etc are fine, my husband loves ordering the Birds Nest, which is a nest of hashbrowns with bacon bits (not from a jar, actual bacon in pieces) and eggs of course. Also, as others have said, the local diner atmosphere and friendly service is excellent.

    (5)
  • Torrey R.

Maybe we didn't order something unique enough to make for a great review but our food was only ok. We ordered the special which was a toasted english muffin with a bit of melted cheese, bacon, and an egg. Maybe an option of a slice of tomato or avocado would have helped spice this up a bit. It was basic comfort food which certainly has it's place. We will need to come back next time we are in town and try something more unique to this specific restaurant.

  • Rebecca Z.

This is a great diner. There are many reasons why: The hash brown omelet is brilliant. They have a wide variety of hot sauce (big plus). The staff is very friendly. They have homemade bread. They seem to know most of their regulars and were very accommodating to us out-of-towners, too. We sat at the counter and chatted briefly with the wait staff and the people sitting next to us. This place has such a great friendly Midwestern attitude to it.

    (4)
  • Matt R.

This place is like the Cheers of breakfast places. The waitress knew everybody's names. Except the "out-of-towners" like us. Maybe we got the the "Tourist Treatment". Really...I wanted to like this place more. They were one of the only spots open for breakfast downtown on a Sunday morning. The "liking more" part just didnt happen. First of all, the table are on top of each other. I mean, we literally had breakfast with the tables on either side of us. Cozy for sure. Second, the service was S-L-O-W. After a long wait while we were starving..the food just didnt deliver. Pretty generic stuff. The price was pretty decent, but I would have paid more for better service/food. Probably not gonna try it again...

    (3)
  • Tony P.

.....love the breakfasts !!!!! Always fast service & hot food..

    (5)
  • Carter C.

This place is alright for breakfast - I enjoy the wait staff and they always aim to please. I don't understand why the default cheese on an omelet is American...that doesn't exactly count as cheese... If I remember to specify something other than American I do just fine.

    (3)
  • Kirk R.

Moved to the area recently and have had the Windmill on our list for nearly two months. The anticipation was extremely high...we are a breakfast family, always looking for that "special" diner. ... This was not it. Food was very average....not bad....but nothing special. Sausage gravy and biscuits were very bland. Flavor for pancakes...came from the syrup. Coffee was hot...but, very weak and ordinary. Service was very good.... and the atmosphere had the small town charm. Will not be our family breakfast place like we were hoping.

    (3)
  • J and K.

The Good: The Omelette was good. The bread was very very good. Thick cut and homemade, I'd go back just for the bread alone. I was impressed when I asked for some hot sauce, the server mentioned having over 20 different varieties. I tested him, and he came through with the semi-obscure type I requested. The coffee was also pretty good. Not so Good: My wife ordered the french toast. Not so good. The bread slightly tasted of onions, and the custard had cooked on top of the bread instead of soaking in. The meal was quick and very cheap; when we come back we'll get something other than the french toast.

    (3)
  • Sarah B.

Best breakfast place in Holland! My boyfriend and I go here every Friday morning and sit in the same section so we have our favorite waitress. She knows us by name and order. Fantastic food and fantastic prices. Always delicious.

    (5)
  • Chris S.

This is about as solid as a diner gets. You can just tell that everything is homemade. From the biscuits and bread baked in house, to the hash browns and eggs, everything tastes just a notch better than 95% of breakfast diners.

    (4)
  • Aldo G.

Quick and short - try the hashbrown omelet ( the mini version is big enough unless you're a line backer). Also opt for the home made breads.

    (3)
  • Christopher R.

Your typical family owned grease spoon dinner. A unique mix of seniors and college students munching on breakfast fare. It has that long narrow interior decorated for the Halloween season. I had the special #4 which ended up not being that special. It was an egg/bacon/muffin sandwich. The coffee was diner coffee. It worked in a pinch.

    (2)
  • Eric N.

Absolutely the best biscuits and gravy I have had in a long time! I think they use real buttermilk in their biscuit recipe and that makes all the difference. I highly recommend the windmill restaurant for breakfast here in Holland, Michigan.

Great option if you're in Holland for breakfast. I had a simple veggie omelet and it was pretty good. My hubs had the hash brown omelet with ham and it was out of this world. It comes in whole and half sizes. The whole size is HUGE and if I were to eat here again, I would get the half. Service was very friendly and they are quick with the coffee/water refills. This place was packed on a Sunday morning and I can see why!

The prices are great. I would go here to take friends visiting me when I was a college student. The cinnamon roll is a meal in itself, but so good as they make them fresh daily. Get there early because once they run out of the cinnamon rolls they are out until the next day. The omlettes are great too, always take leftovers home whenever I eat here. They do take credit/debit cards now, which is good to know in case you are short on cash.

How is it possible that for all the years that I've lived in this town that I never ate here?! My cousin was unable to meet us up all up while we were in town together for my sister's baby shower, so we agreed on this spot for breakfast. We got there about 9am, and they were able to accommodate our group of 7 for the size of the place they had there. There was a small wait, but it wasn't bad at all. It has the definite feel of a diner, but homey with the Halloween decorations. The staff here is very friendly and they know their stuff. My waitress offered all the varieties of hot sauce they have with my omelette. I think that there was about 10 or so she rattled off. It was very impressive. I got the Holland Omelette, and it was delicious and very filling. The portion was huge, and I felt very filled afterwards. The prices are very reasonable. I appreciated how the coffee kept coming and they had a variety of creamers. I had debated over the sausage and biscuits and will now have to try that the next time I get the opportunity to go out for breakfast.

It was 10:25am and we were in line @ the drive-thru and we were told breakfast was over! So we went to Windmill on 8th Street. Had a great breakfast + second cup of coffee.

Good French Toast, great service. The locals love the cinnamon rolls; they are quite large though, so they are great for splitting. Omelets were delicious too. Wonderful experience.

They have a weekly breakfast special of $3.10 Mon-Fri 5 am to 11 am. You can get an egg of your choice, 2 sausage links or patties or bacon along with toast. For .25 extra you can get their home-made white bread, yummy. A few other $3.10 specials include pancakes or french toast. My hubs had the hash brown omelet and said it was very good. Decent priced and large portions. We got there at 10:30 on a Monday morning and it was packed. Not too long of a wait and we decided to sit at the counter. Very pleasant servers. Would go again.

Being from Chicago, probably spoiled but hear how its the best place for breakfast in Holland. Was there for the second time in eight months and I know the reason why people say its the best there. There are not a lot of places in Holland for breakfast. I would say at best its average and if I put this place in Chicago, not sure if I would give it one star. Food is ok nothing special, its basically what we consider diner food in Chicago. Went to Alpen Rose the day before for breakfast and though they don't have as large a menu as Windmill (though their menu isn't very large either), their breakfast food is just as good.

I was on a much-needed trip away from the hectic bustle of Chicago with my girlfriend and stopped in this old-fashioned diner on Holland's small downtown strip. I got the corned beef and hash omelet and a cinnamon roll the size of my head. The omelet was amazing. Easily the best I've ever had. The corned beef was so finely chopped that it melted in your mouth. The cinnamon roll was good but would have been better if a little softer and warmer. Still really good, though. If this restaurant were on my way to work I would get this omelet everyday and probably gain 30 lbs. in a month. The service was friendly and timely and I have to add that this place now accepts credit cards, which is always nice. Highly recommended!

Love the food here and the friendly smalltown feel of it; I used to eat breakfast here after working 3rd shift, it was a nice place to wind down. The only con is the fact that they accept cash only; kind of inconvenient sometimes, & makes them lose a star.

This place is great! It's a typical small-town Main Street diner from the old days. Very friendly (and excellent) service, really good home(ish) cooked meals at ridiculously reasonable prices. The cinnamon rolls rock! Cash only. The only thing that would make this place better is if our waitress would have called us 'hon' at least once.

Amazing service, Everest-high plates, tasty fare at fair prices. Ate lunch there on the 2nd, during the Tulip Time festival.

The meal so nice we ate it twice! Stopped here two days in a row even though our hotel offered free breakfast. I got the hash brown omelette both times and my fiancee got the bird's nest. Freakin' delicious! The homemade bread was also really good. Even though we were there during the week, the line was out the door both days but it moved quickly and the food was served quickly as well. We really enjoyed our visit to the Holland area and this is one of its crown jewels.

It's a "ma and pop's" kind of place. You want comfort and the feel like you're visiting family, this is it. I personally didn't find their food unique or set apart, but it was still good. It's a safe bet.

Yay! We found the townie restaurant in Holland...or at least one of them. We stopped in on our way out of town to get chowed up. We definitely did that. Lots of good food at good prices. I would rate this place as a better than average coney. Nothing superb about it, just pretty dang good. My veggie omelet was tasty, even with the canned mushrooms. I opted for the thick cut wheat bread, which was great. Hash browns were alright, too. Coffee was middling. All of it was cooked well. The service was very good. Waitress was pleasant and efficient. Most everyone knew everyone else, so it had a friendly vibe. It also had the smallest bathroom I've ever been in! Maybe it was just that I had a lot to eat.

Very good food, great service, awesome coffee!! There was a line to sit down out the door, but it only took a few minutes to get seated. I was surprised there wasn't a kids menu, but they had a special of 2 pancakes with 2 pieces of bacon for $3.35, so that worked out well. The only reason this is a 4 star instead of 5 was my disappointment in the biscuits and gravy. It. Was. Awful. Bland, dry, the biscuits were obviously yesterday's biscuits, dense and chewy. The gravy was so bland I poured salt on, which I never do. The salt helped, but it was still thick and pretty tasteless. My sons pancakes, the bacon, and my husband's hash, however, were all fantastic, so I'm hoping the B's and G's were just a fluke. We would definitely go again, I'll order a cinnamon roll next time instead!

I hadn't been to this place in a few years, but I remembered exactly what I needed to get! One enormous cinnamon roll and the hash brown omelet with bacon and cheese. Mind you, the portions are so huge that I shared it with my friend. The best thing about the cinnamon rolls (other than their size) is that they have an adequate amount of icing - and by that I mean it's DRENCHED in the sweet, thick glaze! As far as the hash brown omelet, make sure you get a good bite that has a little bit of everything, because that sharp cheddar and that salty bacon pack a flavorful punch. But I have to admit that if you're just scooping up forkfuls of hash browns, you might want to be prepared with the salt and pepper shaker, because they're a little under-seasoned. My friend is also really into their thick slices of Texas Toast smothered with butter and grape jelly. Check it out!

This is a good staple cafe, but nothing to call home about. Don't get me wrong, the food is great, the staff friendly, and the venue is clearly popular. But the menu was standard, similar to a Denny's. Perhaps I missed something, I don't think so.

I've been here a couple times and they've always had fast, quality service. Because they don't take reservations of any kind, the line might be a bit long, but we've never had to wait more than 20 minutes at a time. Food is good and appeases both the person who wants breakfast and those who want lunch. We always leave full and happy.
