I agree with the other reviewers- it's nothing super fancy on the inside, but the food was tasty. Their homemade bread was very good, and probably my favorite part of the meal. Also, if you plan on ordering a single pancake on the side, it is HUGE. It's the size of an entire meal plate. I was expecting IHOP size and was quite surprised.

The Wooden Shoe is my lifelong favorite place to go for breakfast. Their pancakes are better than anyone else's, their homemade pig in the blankets are scrumptious, and their service is quick and courteous. I no longer live in Holland, but try to stop in to the Shoe whenever I'm in town. Sidenotes: Giant, delicious cinnamon rolls and yummy hash brown omelets!

A nice place to come for breakfast. Their homemade toast is DELICIOUS! I've never had the lunch, but breakfast is always good. Even when there is a wait to get seated, the turnover is quick and I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a seat. Once seated you get your food pretty quickly. A nice small town breakfast joint to try out if you're around town.

Definitely your local fare. Good size breakfast and friendly staff. It's obviously filled with regulars. I would definitely return here.

I had a breakfast bowl with side of blueberry pancakes - found both to be delicious. The coffee was great and plentiful (I LOVE that they leave the pot at your table!). It doesn't seem much more than a dutch themed diner, but trust me when I tell you that it's _what you want_. Jennifer G was my waitress. Unique and clear conversation despite the crowd. Excellent service despite the fact that I was there during the Sunday brunch crush!

When you select the 3 star rating next to it the words "A-OK" pop up. That pretty much sums it up for me. If I were from out of town and staying in a nearby hotel and ate here I'd be content and not disappointed, but I wouldn't be overly excited. As a local here I will eat at other restaurants that I know and at least for my taste preferences meet my expectations better. Nothing terrible about my experience here it's just a personal taste preference and by looking at the reviews here there are others who'd say I'm crazy for only giving them 3 stars. Today I had the stuffed French toast with blueberries and also a cinnamon roll. The stuffed French toast was good. As far as the cinnamon roll goes it was fresh and soft and tasted good. A good solid 3 star performance from this restaurant today. Give them a try and I suspect you'll probably like them a lot since most people seem too.

The asparagus omelet was good. The asparagus & onions we're crisp, not soggy. The blueberry French toast was good but disappointed the blueberries were canned pie filling rather than fresh.

Great local diner feel. Portions are generous and food is tasty. I had the breakfast burrito which was good, but I would ask for light sauce next time. Cinnamon roll is excellent, make sure you have someone to share it with though! I prefer local restaurants to chains, so this was a good choice for home cooked food and a friendly and casual atmosphere. Coffee wasn't the best, but overall it was a good breakfast!

I have lived in Holland for almost my whole life and have driven by here countless times and finally got to stop in for breakfast. Everyone in town must have had the same idea to go eat out for breakfast as there was a 15 minute wait. A couple other parties waiting out in the waiting area talked about Bob Evans and The Windmill being packed and having lines there as well. We were seated and got our coffee right away. I got the half order of the biscuit and sausage gravy and a side order of the pig in the blanket. Both were very tasty. I liked that the pig was more like a sausage and not like a hot dog and that the blanket had a crispy flaky crust and wasn't the texture of a hot dog bun. I had some of my mom's fajita omelet and that was pretty good, too. The pancakes were solid, and the hash browns were nice and crispy - the way I like them! Our waitress was nice and helpful explaining to me one of the items on the menu and appreciated her help. Prices were reasonable and they have specials as well. I wouldn't mind coming back again.

Good food. I had the corned beef hash omelet and a pig in a blanket. Very delicious and was full when I left.

Great service. Delicious food, had the breakfast bowl with rye toast, marble rye, my favorite. This will definitely become a regular Saturday morning breakfast stop for us!

Great food, nothing fancy by any means but down right good none the less! We were in town visiting friends that live in the area and were told we must have breakfast at "The Shoe". My son ordered the cream cheese and blueberry stuffed french toast (once we talked him out of the 12 egg southern omlet thing). It was soo good! I had a corned beef hash omelets and the DBF had the hasbrown omelet. Both good. Pretty sure the corned beef was canned but I have yet to find a place that makes it homemade. Also my friend that's local ordered "a pig". It was delicous! Not like any pig in a blanket I've ever had. Homemade flaky crust, homemade sausage. It's a must try for sure!!!

OK, so the cinnamon "roll" is about the size of a small cake and can feed roughly 8 people. Let's just get that out of the way right off the bat. See, the wife thought that a cinnamon roll might be a nice compliment to her french toast, but as it turns out, it's really about 10X the size as the french toast itself. There we sat, as families to our left and right laughed, openly questioned our decisions, and I'm sure mocked us behind our backs as I tried to work my way through my biscuits and gravy, side of 2 pigs in a blanket (note: the "pigs" are really good sausages that are about the size of hot dogs), and then started hacking massive slices off of the cinnamon roll. The service was very friendly, if not understandably a bit harried at 11 am on a Saturday, and the food is all very good for a diner-style restaurant. I'd go back, but order more appropriately now that I know what I'm getting into, because while I could only dent the cinnamon roll, and I left one pig in it's blanket, I didn't eat again until the next day, and that's a first.

I'm suprised there are no reviews for this yet - as its highlighted in the tourist brochure and the Holland visitiors guide as a local place to get some authentic Dutch fare and good home cooking. We ended up here after finding out DeBoers Bakkerij (we were hunting for a Dutch lunch while viewing the tulips) only serves breakfast on the weekends. So we gave it a shot. This ended up being delightful food at reasonable prices (not rock bottom, but not pricey). Atmosphere is casual and comfy. Service is quick and friendly, as someone I saw noted on google reviews. We tried the pigs in a blanket, pea soup with yeast rolls and fish and chips. I'd go back for any of these. The pigs in a blanket was a delicious sausage (tasted home-made, w/ nice blend of mild spices) in a flaky pastry blanket. The pea soup was generous and had tasty large chunks of ham and carrots in it too. Rolls were delicous. The food in general was all very mild, especially the tarter sauce for the fish and chips, but it was still very good home-cooked food. I would recommend this place just as much as any other in the area if you are searching for Dutch food while looking at the Tulips, or any other time! In fact I'd assume from what they say on their website and what I saw on the menu that this would be a wonderful place to grab breakfast too.

I've only been here for breakfast but man oh man, do they have amazing stuffed french toast. It's two thick slices of french toast, with strawberries and cream cheese stuffed inside and then topped with whip cream. The prices are very reasonable and everyone is friendly and all about making the customer happy! We went on a Sunday but make sure to go early to beat the church crowd because it gets packed and you'll have to wait quite a bit for a table. The only down side is they have a very limited kids menu so if your kids are looking for funny face or chocolate chip pancakes, try Denny's.

Sorry Wooden Shoes, only 3 stars and here is why: I went with my kids yesterday and wasn't very impressed with the food or the atmosphere. It was incredibly loud in there. I realize it is Saturday morning and the place is buzzing, but I could barely hear my 7 yr old and he is hardly ever hard to hear. Asparagus omelet: fairly dry, smallish and nothing special. Sausage links were the very fatty kind and i would not order it again. The homemade wheat toast was forgettable as it was very chewy and lacking flavor. My daughter did not care for the hash brown as she said they were very dry. I tried to spice up my omelet a bit by ordering a side of hollandaise sauce, but it was pretty boring. It needed CPR or more butter and lemon. However, i will say that our server was fantastic and so cheerful. I probably won't be back for awhile as there are so many great breakfast joints in the area to frequent.
