I eat Sluggo's quite often and it never disappoints. Their pizza is chewy and the crust is crunchy. The bread sticks are amazing! my sister got me some a long time ago and I loved them. the cinnamon sticks are a great touch to the aftertaste of the pizza. But they should offer icing as dip. their hot & spicy chicken wings are some of the best I've had. the pizza sauce is sweet but also salty, the cheese is gooey and thick, and the toppings are very very fresh. It's always a joy to call and order because the people are so nice and friendly. This is just a really nice family owned and operated pizza shop. I have nothing bad to say about it and I HIGHLY recommend it!

Slow service. Bad pizza. If you're 12 years old the oreo breadsticks may entice you.

While "roughing" it while camping recently we decided to order pizza rather than cook. Sluggo's was the closest place to our campground. Ordered a Hawaiian pizza, picked it up and a few minutes later were happily eating great pizza by our campfire. They had the right amount of toppings and the pizza was great! Can't speak to the other menu items but if they are anything like their pizza they are good!

It's been awhile, Yelp. But I'm bringing it back...and what better way than with PIZZA: my all-time favorite food group. I've been doing well, obeying my wifely duties by making dinner for my man since he works hard and deserves to come home to a nice meal. However, everyone needs a break, and pizza is always my first carryout/deliver choice. So on our way home from buying a new couch (more on that later!), we dialed Sluggo's up, put our order in, and they said 15-20 minutes. Cool. About 7 minutes later, we got there, waited for what seemed like 2.5 minutes, and the gal in the kitchen came out with our pizza! Sweet! By the time we got home, our pie was the perfect temperature to consume, and so consume we did. Mmmm! Doughy crust with a little bit of crisp around the edges, super cheesy, fresh spinach and pepperoni with just the right amount of kick! We ordered a large, which comes cut pie-style, and lucky for us, we couldn't finish it off, so we'll have delicious leftovers for tomorrow. Only thing I really didn't dig? How limp the crust became underneath the toppings. Bummer. Soggy and lifeless. How 'bout something to support the tastiness? Definitely worth another non-home-cooked meal night.

Sluggo's is the BEST pizza ever. Seriously. Their bread sticks are to die for - they fluffy and chewy and covered in italian dressing (don't knock it til you try it!). They're pizza is fresh and only uses premium ingredients. The cheese is delicious and not like other places. It's fresh and you can definitely tell. They use generous portions of toppings and cheese, and their specials are great values. My favorite is the #1 - A personal (7 inch) pizza w/2 toppings, an order of bread sticks, and a pop - for $6.36. It can fill up the hungriest person, or make 2 meals for an average appetite. The pizza has a way of being both chewy and crunchy at the same time - completely delicious! It's always quick and friendly service! I'm a frequent visiter and have yet to be served anything less than a quality meal and friendly service. Try it - you won't regret it!

Okay, I agree with other reviewers that Sluggo's has some of the best pizza in Holland--and certainly the best breadsticks. I can only give them two stars though for their hospitality and inconsistent hours. My family tends to enjoy eating dinner later in the evening--particularly when it's hot out. On more than one occasion we have come into Sluggo's at 8pm or so to enjoy a sit-down meal with our kids--keep in mind, they close at 10pm Mon-Thurs and 11pm on weekends--and we were told we could only order "to go" because the dining room was closed. I asked them why, when they were open for several more hours and if the dining room closed at a set time? I was told that it is different every night so when crowds thin down for the evening they clean all the tables, and just don't let anyone stay because they don't want to worry about cleaning the dining room anymore. Really?! I never spend less than $35 there for a meal, and they can't take two minutes tops to clean our table? Also, on several occasions we went to order take-out around 9pm--when they should still have been open for at least an hour--only to find the restaurant closed with no explanation. A few weeks ago, we visited and were walking up to the door at 9:30pm and a man came to turn the sign to CLOSED even though two kids were still in the restaurant eating. Basically, we have to drive across town to visit Sluggo's and due to the inconsistent hours of the shop and unpredictability of when we can and cannot come in and enjoy a sit-down meal, we will not be back. It is unfortunate that they choose to run their business this way.
If you want greasy and good and greasy, then order from here.

Sluggo's is always hot, ready and fresh. Great people! We've been going to Sluggo's for years. First at their old parlor and restaurant nearer the lake, and for the last several years on Douglas. We regularly order pizzas on Friday nights and never have to wait more than 15 minutes or so, even when their dining room is full. We especially like the BBQ Chicken pizza with an antipasto or Greek salad.

The best thing about this place was the delicious cheese that tastes like flaming saganaki cheese we get at Greek restaurants back home. We wanted some good thin crust pizza on our vacation to Holland and this was not necessarily the place. Still worth a try.

I really love sluggo's breadsticks! However, as others have mentioned, the inconsistent hours are irritating. I will call sometimes around 9 just to find out they have closed, or will drive there just to find that they have closed with no explanation other than they were slow.. which I understand but then maybe they need to think about changing their hours instead of closing whenever the time seems right to them. Another thing is the workers are all high school age girls that sometimes do not leave their attitudes at home.. a first job for most so not a huge deal. I definitely recommend sluggo's for the food, so try it but go before 9 so you know they will be open.

Several years ago this was a routine stop of mine on my way out the state park to do some fishing. Since I moved back to Holland I've thought several times that I should go back to see if their barbeque chicken pizza is as good as I remember. Well, today while fishing at the state park I got hungry and immediately thought about Sluggo's and knew I'd be checking them out for my supper. Since I'd been craving it I got a barbeque chicken pizza. Surprisingly it lived up to my high expectations. I say surprisingly because it seems like it's rare that things are as good as I remember them being when I haven't had them in years. The reason I'm only giving them 4 stars is because of the crust. On the negative side it was pretty much flavorless to me (I shoud point out though that I smoked for 34 years so it could be that all that abuse I did to my body negatively affected my taste buds so I may be wrong about the crust lacking flavor). However, to be fair though I have to admit that it was a nice moist crust and not a dried out chewy mess like most places serve. Overall even though I'm knocking a star off for the crust I still considered it good since it was moist and did not remind me of chewing on cardboard like other places. One thing I'd forgotten about this place was the fact that they seem to always have young females working there whenever I stopped by in years past and tonight it was the same situation. What I got to experience again was that although the young ladies aren't old enough to have many years of experience behind them, just like in past years I was immediately greeted and made to feel welcome. The reason I find the young ladies conduct here encouraging is that frequently young people don't take jobs too serious so it's always nice to see examples of good service that remind me that I shouldn't be too hard on all young people since obviously some of them take their jobs seriously and provide good customer experiences. Obviously the management here is doing a good job of training their employees and it makes for a pleasant experience. Good job Sluggo's!

I love sluggos. This is by far one of my favorite pizza spots. The breadsticks are amazing and different than most anything that is found in the area. Everyone should give it a try at least once and they will want to go back again and again. Enjoy!

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

So apparently trying to find a pizza joint in the Grand Haven/Holland area that is open on a Sunday is really hard to accomplish. After several failed attempts at finding a pizza joint we stumbled upon this establishment. First of all we were just excited that it was actually open. When you walk up they have two entrances. One is labeled for Sluggo's and the other is for some Hawaiian Shaved Ice (they are connected on the inside). When we walked up to the counter to place our order a girl came out of the back and asked if we were ready. Of course being our first time it took us a few minutes to decide on what we wanted. She patiently waited for us and was friendly during the process. We both got a 7" specialty pizza and an order of cheese bread. Typically when I order an appetizer I prefer it come out well before the main meal. This was not the case today. It came out just 2 minutes before our pizza arrived. The cheese bread was good. I liked it mucho! The pizza was tasty too. It wasn't anything that blew me away, but it was still good and made me happy to consume. The dinning room was clean for the most part. I did notice some crumbs on two tables around us, but nothing out of the norm other that perhaps a lazy employee. The décor is nothing special. It's your typical pizzeria located in a strip mall. The prices were good. I feel that $5 for a 7" pizza is very fair.
