Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

The pizza here is amazing. By far the pizza in town. Really great prices and friendly people. Also try the ranch it's great!!

My husband and I ate here on a weekend and we ordered a couple pieces by the slice. We had those quickly along with two drinks and sat outside on a beautiful day. Despite sitting outside the staff was still very attentive offering to clear our plates. The pizza here is a great, I love the sauce. The crust is awesome...so awesome that I ate it! My husband had the deep dish and it was gone before I knew it so I think that is a great testament to how delicious the pizza is.

The pizza is so good that my boyfriend and I ate here twice during a weekend long trip to Holland. Best Chicago style deep dish we've ever had, and we've had it in Chicago! Their pinwheels are yummy too. The Chicago style takes about 45 minutes to make, but it is worth the wait!

We all met a business client here for dinner. Pizza just sounded good to everybody today. This place, as well as others have come recommended by the locals. I have to say it was a good call. Our pizza was awesome, best I have had in some time. And...it wasn't even the deep dish. The deep dish takes about 45 minutes or so to bake as opposed to the thin crust at 15-20 minutes to bake. I myself leave Friday for home, but will pester the boys to come back and have the deep dish...which they did want tonight if it didn't take so long. Anyway, my suggestion...call ahead for the deep dish.

Very good gluten free deep dish pizza. Even my gluten loving husband preferred the GF deep dish! Can't wait to go back to try the thin crust. Very knowledgable.

The food here is great! They deliver to Our Brewing Company and the staff is always pleasant and accommodating.

I love crust 54. Their deep dish is to die for. They are super friendly and its a great atmosphere for small groups! They also have awesome specials! For sure worth a try!
(5)Debbie M.
Loved that they had GF deep dish, but over-ordered. One slice would have left me with a good review, but eating & eating it killed it for us.

Swung by on a Tuesday night around 7:15. Place next door wasn't seating anymore (bit early to call it quits since the sign says they close at 8) so we went here. Pretty decent pizza. Got the Godfather and a salad. Service was fast, staff was nice. Not bad if you're looking for pizza in Holland.
(4)Alex C.
Very disappointed by Gluten Free Pizza (too hard) and wings were so-so. No adult beverages and floor was dirty. Staff was friendly and helpful - location was kid friendly but this does not make up for food. We have $10 off coupon to use here and would rather let it go to waste.

Had pizza there a few months ago. The place had a nice atmosphere & easy payment via their iPad that they had hooked up to their POS system. Yes this is a specialty pizza parlor, however for the price it's definitely NOT worth the money. We can go to any of the franchised pizza joints & get a better pizza for a heck of a lot cheaper. Either bring the prices down to compete with the local franchises or start doing delivery to all of Holland. If you're a specialty pizza parlor, then you should make an effort to deliver everywhere & not just to the local college. Bring prices down & start delivery services!!!

While walking down the street, I noticed the "Chicago Style Pizza" sign in the window and made a mental note. When the topic of where to lunch came up, it popped into my head. We all love that style, so we went. I forgot how long it takes to make this kind of pizza, so my mood was becoming less gleeful. We discussed it and an enterprising employee overheard us. He spoke up saying that we could have a few styles by the slice and they were already made. A slice and a pop for $6! They even had the ones available we were going to get, anyway. It was a good choice, as we all left dully sated without draining our wallets. The pizza was very good and the place itself, though small was nice. Of course high marks go out to the staff for their service. I wish it was closer to where we live.

Crust 54 used to operate under different owners, and to be honest, I loved the pizza, but the service was sub-par. It was also very hard to actually order a pizza, because it seemed like the pizza that you ordered and the pizza you got were never the same, like some kind of rotating "lets screw with customers' orders" roulette. I'm VERY happy to say that the new owners have gone so far above and beyond what Crust 54 was and have turned it into such an amazing place. The family that runs it are incredibly warm and inviting, and no matter how busy it gets, I always get service with a smile. I've only had one time where it wasn't right, but that was the guy taking my order's fault (he was a little too happy and a little too rushed). Overall, this place rocks. Get the 'too much pepperoni' pizza. It's epic.
(5)Andrew B.
I'm from Chicago and this stuffed pizza can toe to toe with the best. Not to mention the staff was super polite, and very professional.
(5)Heather C.
My husband and I ate here and we loved it! I got the West Michigan's Best Salad and my husband got the Chicago Deep Dish. The service was great and fast. We LOVED the music! Very glad we stopped in and we WILL be going back soon!

I think I had higher expectations for this place than were delivered. The location is prime right in the middle of downtown Holland with loads of cute shops around. The inside is really cute and cozy. But, on to the most important stuff, the stuff all yelpers want to know about. The service was great. The food. We ordered two appetizers: the cheesy breadsticks and the wings. The breadsticks were to die for :) the wings well......I bit into one...ate half of it and the bone was ice cold...ICE cold.. Now I wasn't too angry because I knew we had a ton of food coming so I just let it go. However, they still gave us a $10 gift card to come back and those breadsticks alone were enough to get me back there :) Lastly, we ordered an all meat deep dish pizza. I'm not sure what I expected from this pizza but it wasn't what I thought it was going to be. The good: the crust, even though it was deep dish and huge the bottom crust was crispy and delicious. The rest, well, I didn't think there was THat much meat considering it was an all meat pizza. Maybe every other bite had some and the top was LOADED with red sauce. I mean LOADED. Below the red was about a pound of cheese. I probably won't be ordering one of these again if they're always this way. It did taste good though. It was an experience to say the least.

My family is a big fan of Chicago style deep dish pizza, so we were excited to hear about Crust 54. Crust 54 allows you to call your order in prior to arriving, this is great since it can take a good 45 minutes to make a deep dish pizza. So, we called ahead to place our order for a large deep dish with half pepperoni and half sausage. We had some trouble finding a parking spot when we arrived, which seems to be fairly common in downtown Holland on a weekend. We entered through the parking lot entrance, and being our first time there, it wasn't very clear on where to go. There is a order/checkout counter so you basically order your food similar to a fast rood restaurant - not a big fan of this style of ordering in a pizza place, but it is what it is. We informed them that we called our order in ahead of time, which was a good thing because they had reserved a table for our party of four (me, my wife, son, and daughter). The dining area was packed so if we didn't have a reserved table, we wouldn't have had a place to sit. Still at the counter, prior to being seated, we ordered our drinks and an order of cheese crust (their version of a cheese bread). As far as the dining area goes, the décor was nice, seating was limited and seemed a bit crowded. Noise level seemed a bit high - there were a lot of younger kids there that particular night. Our appetizer , the cheese crust, came out pretty quickly...and was eaten quickly as well, all around the table thought it was great. The pizza came out shortly thereafter. Unfortunately the server didn't know which half was sausage and which was pepperoni and apparently guessed (which was wrong), of course, it's not like you can tell from looking at it since the toppings are on the inside. We never really could figure out which half was which, more than likely due to the way the pizza was cut, the overwhelming amount of sauce, and the fairly scarce amount of toppings. As far as the taste goes, my wife and daughter though it was ok. My son and I were not impressed at all. The sauce was too thin and watery, which ended up saturating the crust; just getting a piece off of the pizza pan was a challenge, it didn't hold together well at all. After experiencing several different Chicago style deep dish pizzas, this has been one of my least favorites so far.

Crust 54 got new owners in 2014 and I can't believe how AMAZING the pizza is. I LOVE pizza and I can say Crust 54 is in my top 2 favorite pizzas. The pizza is cooked to perfection, the perfect ratio of crust-sauce-cheese. We first tried the thin crust pepperoni which was very good. We have also had the deep dish which is worth the wait! I also have tried their new App to order which is so easy! They also have pizza by-the-slice for lunch time! The next time you are in the mood for pizza, try Crust 54!
(5)Brent G.
Everything about my experience was better than expected. What stood out: They delivered to Our Brewery! Gave use free wings (didnt have bread sticks) Delivered pizza with plates and a smile Pizza was AMAZING Price was great Overall they were extremely welcoming, from the phone call to the delivery. Everyone in our group wanted to leave a positive review. I will be back for sure! Thanks for the great service and AMAZING pizza.

Best deep dish pizza I've ever had! I probably could've eaten my own 14in it was that awesome! If you're in Holland, this place is a must go! Great great great pizza!
(5)Lara P.
We so wanted Crust 54 to be another option for great pizza or a place to grab a quick bite. Maybe we should have tried the deep dish pizza; instead, we ordered the Chicago Thin Crust...& while the toppings were fresh and excellent, the crust was tough and hard and did have, as one other reviewer mentioned a cardboard consistency. This place has a diverse menu & a lot of offerings..,if they could only solve their crust problems & live up to what appears to have inspired the name of their business. I'd love to see them make it. In the meantime, I agree that New Holland's pizza is a better option. Update: they are under new ownership; eager to give it another try:)

Glad they offer GF crust but was as hard as hard tack. My dad was greatly disappointed in regular crust. Sausage was good. No beer. Fox News blaring. Won't be back.
(2)Kelli S.
Pizza by the slice ready to eat at noon...chicago style. Otherwise you wait 45 for a deep dish made to order. Very friendly amd attentive staff
(3)Nate U.
The pizza speaks for itself, and it says "Good and Fresh", the sauce was not to thin on my visit the crust was crisp, the the service was good and not snobby. Crust 54 should be tried for yourself. Make your own opinion!

Found out about this place on Tripadvisor. Lunch deals were well-priced and the deep dish was delicious. My husband and I each tried the carnivore's and vegetarian deep dish and they were both good. Sauce was nice and thick & the pizza was definitely filling. Definitely would go here again!
(5)CJ S.
Great pizza, clean restaurant with a nice atmosphere and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The owner helped us get tables together, was very attentive and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and our experience!
(5)Toni B.
This place was pretty darn cute! We didn't order pizza so I can't comment on that, we did however order pasta. I ordered the gluten free ziti, my friend ordered farfalle and we both had the bolognese sauce. We also ordered a side garden salad each. Both of our salads were extremely fresh, attractive and tasty. The bolognese sauce on the pasta was delish, not too sour or sweet. It had the perfect seasoning. The only thing I would advise is that when dealing with a gluten free order, putting a breadstick on the plate next to the gluten free pasta does not make sense. Otherwise we were totally happy with our meal. In fact, was surprised to read the negative reviews here because the service we received was so polite and efficient. I would definitely recommend Crust 54 as a fun stop on your tour of Holland, especially if you have a craving for carbs after a wine tasting like we did!
(3)Jenifer B.
Despite other bad reviews, my kids wanted to give this place a try. Well we were impressed. The service was excellent and the pizza was good. My kids have had pizza in NYC and Chicago, so despite their age they have a grasp of a decent pie. They both gave the pepperoni pizza two thumbs up.
(4)Holden C.
I am a pizza snob. This place is pretty good. I thought the pizza was quite good (we had sevral thin crust pizza's). We found the service to be fine and the staff to be nice (not totally attentive but nice). I was disappointed that there were not additional items on the menu beside the pizza. I usually like a salad to go along with my pie. The pizza is a little more expenseive than the typical Hollander may like. But, this place is not Jet's, it is good pizza. I will be back for more.

Talk about great places that have great owners. For my birthday, my co-workers (our office is a few buildings down from Crust 54) got me a deep dish pizza. I know deep dish pizza from years in Chicago and I can tell you that this birthday lunch was one of the best ever. Every time I have been in there I have been treated with respect and friendly atmosphere. I don't judge a place by their decor - their food has nothing to do with religious artifacts and symbols on the wall. Fact is - TALENT and creativity. Great food made by great people who care about downtown Holland. Nice addition to our great little piece of the city.

Under new management - will try soon

Very Good thin crust, pepperoni bites were tasty, Parmesan bread sticks a little crispy. Service was very good, friendly!
(4)Kelly F.
We went here and I had the GF pizza. Service was super friendly, and fast! They had made this DELICIOUS organic lemonade infused with basil, rosemary and dill. It was incredible!! I do recommend!
(4)Angela I.
Ordered cheese breadsticks and 12 inch Chicago deep dish sawzall pizza and 5 inch all meat pizza. The breadsticks came out and were very good! Then the Sawzall pizza came and it was cold and vegetables were still uncooked. The meat pizza came out steaming hot. We told the server about the pizza and the said they would put it back in the oven. Being a cook myself I new this was not going to be the same with all the filling spilling out. So the put it back in the oven, brought it back. The filling was warmer however veggies were not done and the crust was hard because of the rebake. We just asked for our money back on the big pizza, even though they offered to give us a gift card for a free pizza and eat the one they reheated. Sorry it just wasn't worth eating and we won't be back.
(2)Brianna B.
Best pizza I have ever had! We got the Chicago deep dish spinach and artichoke stuffed - everything about it was delicious, from the sauce to the crust! And the herb infused lemonade complemented it perfectly!
(5)Michelle K.
The atmosphere was nice, but very casual. Order at the register, pick up a number and wait for your food to be delivered to your table. It was difficult to find seating for 5, so we squeezed into a booth for 4. The Greek salad was great -- very large, fresh ingredients. The wings were decent, but nothing to write home about. Server forgot to give us ranch, so I had to track that down. Pizza was delicious. I wish they served beer -- would have completed the package. More outdoor seating would have been nice, too. There were a total of 4 outdoor chairs and we needed 5.
(3)Natalie W.
Excellent pizza. Deep dish was delicious and so was the reg crust. Fresh and hot and fast! We had our deep dish and reg pizza within 30 minutes. Place was clean and tidy and staff was friendly and accomodating. They had great side item options for kids. Juice boxes, chocolate milk, applesauce pouches.

Nov. 24, 2012 arrival 6:15p depart 7:30p My first visit was a poor experience; order was placed by my first name and was told take 15 minutes to bake the pizza. Another customer had just finished ordering the same pizza (but larger pie size) when our pizza came out of the oven. Our pizza was given to the customer who just ordered. These girls don't pay attention to the customers. Eventually the employee realized she made a mistake and came to let us know (like we already did not know!). The other customer's knew that was not their pizza but ate it anyway and told us (while smiling) "sorry". They were not sorry. The employee told us they would put a rush on their (now our pizza) but you cannot rush baking time. When our pizza was finally delivered 45 minutes after ordering, I asked the girl (employee) if we would get a free pizza for the mistake I received the typically reply; the manger just left. What a cheap excuse. Funny twist to this drama is the owner was a former manager at 84 East in downtown Holland. You think he would have trained his little girls (employees) better on how to handle issues correctly. The owner's daughter was working and sat back and watched these issues occur. Their customer service is extremely poor. They have not been trained on how to handle customers and ordering. Attention to detail (like who ordered what) is missing. As for the pizza stealers where are your morals (whose first name is Greg) - how would YOU like this to happen to you ? Someday - you will reap what you sow. Just a matter of time !! I do not recommend this place due to lack of service!
(1)Gail B.
We had pizza by the slice for lunch. The slices are huge. The crust was pretty good although it was a bit too chewy as though it sat too long in the warming oven. The veggie pizza was attractive with entire slices of tomato, pepper and onion. The mushrooms were scant and looked canned - bummer. Service was speedy. Cute place.
(3)Dennis J.
I agree wth everything Traci M.and Marie S. stated. I reallycan't add much. The pizza was terrible.Overcooked cardboard. I won't be back.
(1)Jack L.
i am a pizza snob. and the chicago pan pizza was NOT good. however i did grow up in chciago, eating chicago pan pizza. i will try there thin crust at one point
(1)Kate V.
I was torn on how many stars to give them because the pizza was very good but the service was terrible. We ordered a pizza that the menu stated had chicken on it but it came out with shrimp, when we brought it to the attention of the server all she said was "oh, that's because it's how we used to make it." She didn't ask if we wanted another one, we had to ask for it to be re-made with chicken. No apologies were made and she didn't even act like she cared that it wasn't the correct order.
(3)Travis H.
Worst service ever. I went in there the other day. Asked the younger girl what she recommended cuz this is my first time eating here. She rudely said the menu is right there and walked away. When I was ready to order it took a while for her come assist me. Pizza was awesome but for a family run business they need to teach the staff customer service.
