1st off......I will say the food was very good. We each ordered soup and house salad. Great flavor for both. The reason I gave it only 2 stars....POOR SERVICE! No hostess at door....when a table was available, the waitress didn't come get us.....she yelled across the room for us to sit down. Took our drink order and came back 12 minutes later with the wrong drinks. It went down hill from there......another 35 minutes passed prior to getting the food....by now we needed refills.....which took another 10 minutes to get. When our food was brought out to us.....we didn't have any silverware and she just walked away. Had to get up and take them from other tables. Not once she she come back and check on us....until we had to stop her and ask for more napkins and dressing...which she seemed pissed off to get us. When we got the check there was a customer card with our bill.....I filled it out and it said to drop in box on the way out....funny thing: No box in site. While I am not offended by sayings on T-shirts.....there was a family ahead of us with younger children....who pointed out that a guy making the beer had a shirt on that had the work f*ck on it in several places.....my only question is.....where is the manager of this place???? This place really needs Restuarant Steakout

Firstly, one of the two BEST gluten free pizza's/cheese breads I've ever had! The amazing part is it's a local brewpub in a small town! Who knew gf could rock so well in a little local place? I was blown away with the gf choices. They have gf pasta which consists of HUGE portions and the pizza is the stuff legends are made of! Seriously THAT good! It's a brewpub and it's a little loud but the servers all hustle, (they work hard for their money!), drinks are strong and inexpensive and the food is amazing! I ate here twice as opposed to trying another restaurant! I've tried: GF Garlic and cheese "sticks" : This is garlic cheese bread and OMG good! GF Bowtie Florentine: With Bacon, Spinach and shallots and roasted garlic. An alfredo sauce and grilled chicken. (Did I say HUGE? You're seriously eating the rest for lunch tomorrow.) GF #5 Cheesy Pizza with five different cheeses, including goat cheese. Clearly a huge winner in the amazing category! You have to try this! I had a Margatini.......I think they called it. Oh, gotta have one or several! Very strong and a deal at less than $7! I was with regular (not gf) diners and they loved their food as well. In fact, our group of 21 were all very satisfied and how often does that happen? I would even go back to Michigan in the winter for this pizza. No, wait, I'd even have this pizza sent to Phoenix in the winter and pay to overnight it!!!! It's that good! (Let's be serious, I am NOT going to Michigan in the winter.)

The turkey burger, sweet potato fries and the house salad with the honey balsamic dressing is awesome .......BUT the service is TERRIBLE - EVERY TIME I GO!! They are slow with making food and the servers are sitting in booths with friends chatting and don't return to check on their tables to the point I had to get up and ask for what I needed. I served tables for four years in college and would have made no money if I provided this kind of service. I appreciate the laid back atmosphere but doesn't mean the customer service needs to be lacking!

This is a tough one to review. I still come here even though I have it at a lower star rating, actually I have been coming here since they opened. I am going to review this in sections. Beer - the craft beer is ok, I will drink it is to bad. It's also not great never do I really want a beer from here. I get then while I am there because I like craft beer, and it's not bad beer. Appetizers - they have done very good with the appetizers. Really can't go wrong here. Food - over priced under portioned. Don't get me wrong the food is good. I got a burger last night and was huge, well the bun was huge the patty was descent size but looked like it was a prepackaged patty. Pizza - the fire cooked pizza's are great. The prices have been raised on them also but it's reasonable for a fire cooked pizza. Menu - the menu here has changed a lot here over the years. It started out pretty good. They have had food during these changes that I was very disappointed in, and one dish I did not finish because it was that bad. There is a descent selection of food now but it is all overpriced except for the pizza, the sandwich prices are not horrible either. Staff - they are always friendly, definitely have not had an issue there. One big complaint, the wait for food. I was there and it was not that busy and had to wait a really long time to get a burger.

My husband and I ate here today and he had the Bison Burger and Pub Fries. Both excellent. I had the salmon BLT and house chips and they also were delicious. Very good service and nice atmosphere.

In my experience with brew pubs, this is by far the most ordinary, and by far not worth the price. I arrived with a group of four on a bustling Friday night, we were seated after a 20 minute wait. Drinks came quickly, food as well was reasonably quick. No complaints as far as service, nor atmosphere, but that's where the plaudits end. (And notice that I haven't given any superlatives, either. Average.) Beer: Flavorless, uninspired. I started with the honey ale, and I couldn't drink it. The honey gave it a blandness that paired with something metallic in the ale to trigger my usually robust gag reflex. I passed it off to my friend and ordered the stout. I was extremely underwhelmed by that. Although dark in color, it tasted rather watery, with none of the usual pleasing woody or sweet notes that characterize stouts. I did drink this one, but reluctantly. Both beers were put on my tab, and while I did order both, I was clearly displeased with the first. I was willing to buy my friend a beer, so I didn't complain, but an extra star could have been earned with the comp of a single beer (not to mention additional tip). Food: I ordered a burger, rare, with garlic fries. It came medium well, with pepper fries. I happen to like neither of these. I was so hungry, I ate it all anyway, but I told the waitress in no uncertain terms that this needs to be improved. The waitress then asked if we'd like dessert. Again, no need to offer a free one for my trouble with the beer and food, but if she had, I might have been inclined to stay, and my friends would also have stayed. Instead, we went elsewhere for dessert. Should I return to Hastings, I will venture to try some of their other dining options. I am optimistic I can find improvement.

Order the Kicken Chicken with the standard fries, a side of green beaners, and a bistro blonde and prepare to have your face melted off by awesome amazingness!!! Granted, this meal costs about $25 before tip, but in my opinion it's totally worth what you get. The kicken chicken had this marmalade that will blast your brain out of your skull. You will need to pick up parts of your cerebral cortex before you leave. The only complaint I have is the service has a tendency to be a skosh sluggish. But usually only when there is a full house. Also, helpful tip: there are two bathrooms, one upstairs and one down, normally you're directed to the basement, but the upstairs one by the ballroom is better.

I used to frequent the Walldorff often when I lived in the Hastings area. I now am in Grand Rapids, but have been back to eat here twice in the past four months. The beer is okay. We try a lot of different beers and Walldorff has never really peaked my interest. I am a stout drinker and the State Street Stout is okay at best. They do have a really good Brown that has a delicious coffee taste. It is a little disappointing because they don't have a large selection other than their usual couple which I get, they are a small brew pub. As others have said, their appetizers are probably the best thing for the price, although I do recommend their chicken & shrimp gumbo. When I ate more meat, that was definitely my go to. The rest of the menu is overpriced and just okay. Would like to see more vegetarian options to sandwiches. The bistro itself is loud. I mean loud, loud. The ceilings are high so you can hear everything. Just be prepared. Overall it is okay, probably one of the better options in Hastings.

Great beer. State St.. Stout is my favorite. Good is always good. You can't go wrong with the pizza, but I haven't had a bad experience yet.

We went there for a late lunch. We all had a burger and ithey were top notch. My dad and I got the regular burger and my wife got a jalapeño burger which had a special sauce that she really enjoyed. A few of my family members got some of their beers. They had one that the waitress said was comparable to an Oberon. Both people said the Walldorf beer was much better than Oberon and my wife bought a 6 pack for the house. The kids got a Mac and cheese which was great definitely homemade. The only said thing was we accidentally forgot to take the leftover boxes which made everyone sad. The service was a little slow and the food seemed to take a little while to come out. A knock on the place was the bathrooms, which require you to go to a different level of the building. We will definitely go back. I want to try their pizza, looked like a cool pizza oven.

This was the first restaurant we tried before moving to Hastings. It's a great place with nice brews and a great menu to fit any palette. My favorites are the Hopnoxxious IPA and the Americano pizza.

OVER RATED!!! Food is second rate. Service is 3rd rate. Beer is apparently decent, don't know as I don't drink. Cool looking renovated old building.

Great beer! Expensive beer. Good food but expensive. Been here a number of times. They have great craft beer. They sell six packs and growlers which are expensive as well. Food is good although a little more pricey now since they raised prices.

We went there on a Saturday night. The food: turkey reuben, corned beef reuben, burger and salad were each excellent. Drinks included a root beer my husband loved, a great mixed drink my friend had and the Hopnoxious IPA which i would definitely have again. A highlight was our funny, engaging and knowledgeable waiter, Nick. The restaurant was full, including some very cute kids clearly headed to Homecoming. It did not feel crowded, however as they seem to have resisted putting in too many tables and chairs. We do not live near Hastings but i would go back regularly if we did. Great place all around.

We were told we would have a half-hour wait. Ok with that. We were a group of three adults who had been there a few times. Serveral groups came in after us, a few who seemed to "know" the hostess, and put their names in. After a while we noticed they were being seated before us. My wife checked the list, and several groups below our named had jumped us. We she asked when we would get a table, she was told they were seating large groups first. Three groups of four jumped us on the list, including a group of two with two young kids. (Hope the kids enjoyed a growler. Snark.) The next group was a group of three, who put their name in about 20 minutes after us. When the hostess looked at my wife, she yelled, and I mean yelled, at her that we would be next. We were not. Because we left.

My son and his family live in the area and this was a second visit. The first visit was good and it prompted a second visit since we had a family congregation from 3 states, including a 3 year old. The 40 minute wait for a table was disappointing but the food and atmosphere seemed a good bet for the toddler. Several other reviewers complained about the wait for orders to arrive. Ours took close to an hour (with a 3 year old no less) with the explanation that the kitchen was servicing a banquet upstairs and was way behind. I'm unclear how a banquet could not be adequately staffed so the main restaurant can be serviced. Other tables were also complaining. Food is good, but next visit we will try another place; especially since the compensation for the wait was 50% off an appetizer our next visit (great for us out of towners).

Gluten free pizza is actually good. Love the chesse pizza with the goat cheese! Gets really busy on yhe weekends. Plan on a wait time. Service is generally good. Little pricey on the pizzas but gf pizzas generally are.

This is a mixed review. The beer makes for the 4th star. Just visiting the area for a cycling event, I was happy we stumbled on Walldorff on a Friday night. If back in Hastings, I may visit this place again. Beers: 10. We tried almost all of them and I really liked their seasonal chocolate stout, while one of my friends was really pleased with one of their IPAs. Ambiance: 8. It's a pub, spot on, I would say. Food: 6. Food is ok, but they mention a gluten free menu. Among the options, they included burgers ("order without bun"). Really? Folks who eat gluten free could not figure that one out? Service: 2, slow and spotty. It took several requests to get silver ware for all 5 people in our party, and I got up to get more napkins.

Not being from the area of Hastings, MI I like the quant little town that Walldorff Brewery and Bistro is in. When you first walk in the Brewery/Bistro the decor is a little tacky but make sure that doesn't through you off because it is a great restaurant. There menu for the restaurant is quite overwhelming because it is 5-6 pages. A good plus is that the waitresses really know there menu. So ask them as many questions as you would like. Out of four people that love beer they came to a conclusion of a 4 out of 5 for this brewer. They all had the State Street Stout and they said it was pretty good. This stout is actually a lighter stout so if you like a lighter stout make sure you get that one. My family includes 5 people at a table and 4 out of five got wood fired pizza which was excellent. I really recommend the Buffalo Chicken Pizza! The person that didn't get a pizza got a sandwich that was really good I guess. The sandwich name was the North Jefferson. This brewery defiantly gets a 4 out of 5 for the excellent food/beer and a very good waitress. YOU GOT TO CHECK THIS ONE OUT!

Have been here three times because we live in the area. Each visit we have had to wait forever for the food. The last time we waited over an hour and my husbands food was incorrect so wait to wait again for his For average food with a long wait, we will not return again! We thoroughly enjoy the Seasons Grille just up the street. Excellent food and service.

I have been to this place too many times for the quality of food and service I receive. Nothing special food wise or drink wise. I think the dinner menu is too ambitious for the kitchen staff.

I'm only giving this 4 stars because of the beer. It would be a 5 star if the food matched the beer, but alas, it did not. I will admit, I didn't expect much from this brewery due to the fact it is in Hastings. A city that appears to be stuck in time. Not a good time, but a depressing time. After a sad trip to the local KMart; yes, they have a KMart; we ventured out past the Applebee's and other fast food options into the small town of Hastings in search of a hometown hidden gem. We found Waldorff. On the outside it appears like most other brewpubs. The beer in plain view with large windows and lots of wood everywhere. Inside is about the same. There's two sides to this brewpub. The bar side and the bistro side. I always choose bar side. No kids and a good view of what is on tap. We are sat promptly and a small table by the bar, since everyone at the bar is spaced just perfectly enough for two people to be uncomfortable. You can tell a lot of locals come here. They all congregate together and know all of the servers. Which is why I was hoping to score a seat at the bar and strike up some good convo about what and what not to order. That, and the bartender is usually your best tool for such questions. Our server came up and attempted to take our drink order as we inquired about the different beer selections. She knew enough to fumble through her "favorites". We asked about beer flights. "Oh yeah, we have those. You can either have four or all nine of our drafts." Wow. 9. No inbetweeners? We decided on 4 each. Her "favorites". She came back with our beers and waters and took an appetizer order. We ordered the goat cheese app. It was quite delicious and a great sized portion. It had artichokes and sun dried tomatoes. It was quite loaded with the tomatoes. They could definitely save some money by taking half if not more of the tomatoes out. Possibly a little more artichoke. I tried the first beer, the Sundancer Wheat. It was one of the best wheat beers I've ever had. A little sweet and very smooth. We agreed a growler was to come home with us. Up next was the Strawberry Rhubarb. Also quite delicious! You could definitely make out the flavors. Our food arrived. Emily had the TBR - Turkey Bacon Ranch wrap. It looked amazing and she concurred. The fries that came with it lacked the same appeal. I ordered the Schnitzel Sliders. Description from the menu: "Thin pounded pork tenderloin cutlets on mini pretzel buns with grilled sauerkraut and a dab of our magic mustard." Well, the first one I bit into was almost raw. Now if it were tuna or red meat, I'd eat it all day. NOT pork. No brainworms for me please! So, I place that one to the side and cut open the next one. A little grey inside, but looked safer than #1. I proceed to take a bite. Flavorless. The pork was fried in an unflavored batter. The sauerkraut was straight from a can - a little grilled, but nonetheless, boring. The "magic mustard" was nothing more than a sweet ground mustard. Not bad, but not "magic." The bun was the only saving grace. Cute. Thankfully, I had two more beers to go. Next up was the Bee Sting Honey Rye. Yum as well. The honey aftertaste was exceptional! I put that one back like a cowboy after a gunfight. Last but not least was the State Street Stout. Say that three times fast! Very good. What I would expect from a stout. Smooth, with a hint of espresso. Overall, it was a good adventure. Minus Emily spilling an entire water on my lap. Well, it was kinda funny. I know it's all about the beer, but I definitely need some pub food that compliments the beer. I'll be back. The burgers look great.

Oh man do I love their pizzas. They put real pinapple on it, not to much pizza sause. And they're burgers are killer. I've haven't had a bad meal yet. A great place to go and eat and enjoy a fun atmosphere.

Stopped by this place while on holiday in Michigan visiting my wife's family. They had been there before and I'm a beer snob so they thought I should try it out. First, the beer. I was surprised. I wasn't expecting bad beer, but just normal microbrew beer that comes from small town like Hastings. The three I ordered were the Java Creme Brulee Stout, the Batch 500, and Hoppnoxious IPA. The stout was a seasonal that was in place of their regular stout since they only have one nitro tap. It was very creamy and kind of sweet. It's kind of hard to explain but it's not really how I want a beer to taste, too creamy and sweet, but as a drink it was really good, something my taste buds liked. The Batch 500 was their Honey Rye aged in bourbon barrels. This one was good as well. Just a little note of bourbon. Even though it's 10%, it hides it well. The IPA was a basic IPA, hoppy and bitter. Good stuff. The food was very good. I'm a huge burger fan and it did not disappoint. I chose the Brewmaster Burger. Meat was cooked medium like I requested. Very juicy and tasty. Everything on the burger was tasty and it would be hard to order something else next time I go here because I enjoyed it so much. Sweet potato fries were good as well, although, not as abundant as a plate with normal fries. Overall, the service was great. Didn't have to wait long and I never had an empty glass in front of me for more than a couple minutes. This place was such a happy surprise and I'm glad I got to stop by while in Michigan.

Great food, excellent beer!! The chicken nachos were loaded with shredded chicken, very tasty! The Reuben is made with cubed corned beef instead of shaved, I liked it cubed, my wife didn't. We would definitely come here again!!

Beer is great, but unfortunate this place is slipping from a 5 star of only 2 years ago. It seems as though they have gotten a "a little too big for their britches" and have lost sight of the most important part of restaurant business: customer service. New menus, increased prices and POOR service - boarding on rude customer interaction. What a shame - we won't be making the 60 miles drive anymore. :(.

I have been to 24 breweries in MI, and this is my overall favorite! I have only been here on Sundays, so it has always been a nice relaxing atmosphere. Cool old building with a fairly open feel to it. This place has not only some very tasty beers but also the food it outstanding! Although there are only 5 or so beers on tap, all are world class. However, being the hophead that I am, I tend to drink their Hopnoxxious IPA and the award winning and best Black IPA I have ever had, Cobain's Double Dark IPA. Do not walk out without a six pack or a growler. Both times have tasted really fresh with alot of hop aroma. The food is just as stellar as their beers. I often judge a restaurants pizza based on how well they do a Barbequed Chicken pie. This is top notch, both with crust and flavor. I loved the Brewmaster Burger, everything I want and nothing I don't. The shoestring russet fries are awesome as well. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, and incredible food and beers will always make me anticipate our next visit.

My friend and I stopped here for lunch today, having heard about Walldorff from another reviewer. We were very glad we stopped. Although we were on a motorcycle and so could not try the beers, everyone else seemed to be really enjoying them and they do have quite a few choices. As for our food, we each ordered a different sandwich and split them so we could try both. While my friend's prime rib sandwich was very good and his coleslaw was delicious, my "Brew Bird," was definitely the best sandwich either of us have eaten in quite a while. I chose the house-made potato chips and they were delightfully crispy. We can't wait to go back and try some other menu items. Also, for the record, our server was very friendly and helpful, and the restaurant seemed very clean and inviting.

Great beer!!! The strawberry rhubarb was my fav and the summer brew was great also! Only thing was I bought a four pack of the strawberry rhubarb beer and it was not as good as the draft was but still great place to sample the beer and have a great beer at the bar...

We were traveling through the area, and my cousin recommended Walldorff. So glad we went there! Got there around 5 PM on a Friday night, not crowded. We all loved our food, my husband loved the beer. I can't recall what beers he had (because I'm not a beer fan) but he was impressed! Service was good, our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable. The kids and I had the vegan vegetable soup - outstanding! Three of us had burgers - all different kinds, all were awesome, they wer done to a perfect medium and delicious! My son had the flatbread pizza, loved it, took the leftovers back to the hotel to eat for breakfast!

Stopped in for a quick lunch during work. The food was good, but the presentation made the taco salad impossible to eat. The tortilla bowl was so overloaded with fixings, that I put the first two forkfuls in my lap. The service was excellent. Unfortunately, I was not able to try the beer...

Brought my family to Walldorff Brewpub last evening for dinner (and some tasty brew for me). We sat at a table on the bar side. Liked the feel of the restaurant/bar. I appreciated the numerous tv's so that we could watch playoff baseball. I was looking forward to trying the COBAIN'S DOUBLE DARK I.P.A. Now, this dark IPA is listed on their website as "always on tap." So, of course, they were out. This was a big disappointment. I really wanted to sample this one. Went with a couple HOPNOXXXIOUS I.P.A.'s which were very good (4*). In between those I tried a Batch500 with an ABV of 10%. Not too bad (3.5*) Wait staff was attentive and fast. High marks for the friendliness. We ordered 4 appetizers (Spinach Crab Dip *****, Brewhouse Fries ***1/2, Garlic Cheese "Sticks" ***1/2, and Schnitzel Sliders ****) The Schnitzel Sliders were excellent. Something different and done well. These arrived at the table pretty fast. On to the main course... We went with pizzas. Again, it didn't take long for the kitchen to send these pies out. I'd say the place was about 75-80% full also. I considered the timeliness impressive. Pizza #1 Margherita: Roasted garlic herb oil, tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella. I didn't try this one but the family gave it 4*. #2 Barbecued Chicken: Sweet and tangy barbeque, roasted onions, peppers, and Gouda cheese 4.5* #3 Meat: Red sauce, pepperoni, ham, sausage, Canadian bacon, Applewood smoked bacon, and mozzarella. 3.5* All in all, a nice evening. Friendly staff, fast service and good food. (and craft beer). I'll recommend this establishment and will come again.

If you happen to be driving around Hasting, Walldorff has good fresh brew of IPA and wood stove cooked pizza. I have not tried, but they have Cuban Sandwich and Shrimp Po-Boy on the menu! It could be 5 stars around 30 miles of Hasting, MI.

The food is good and there beers are great! We love coming here every time we are in town visiting friends! The beer selection changes with the season, which my husband is a huge fan of the different seasonal beers that come out each year! I like their pizza and appetizers! I have never had a bad meal here! Worth a stop if you are in the area! Only got 4 stars because the hours are bad. We tried to go there for lunch on a Sunday during winter twice and they were closed, even though their website did not state this.

Needed a restaurant to stop at between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo and so glad to have found Walldorff's. Great beer, good food, and a nice atmosphere. Definitely worth a stop in Hastings if one is in the area and wants to eat at an unpretentious brew pub that simply serves real food and real beer.

This place was totally awesome! I was introduced to Walldorff beers at the summer brewfest. I fell in love with the Strawberry Rhubarb Cream Ale, and knew I had to go in! My father and I took a road trip out to Hastings, and we were NOT disappointed. He had the Sundancer Wheat (also good), while I enjoyed my beloved Strawberry Rhubarb Cream Ale. I even had the honor of not only popping the keg, but killing the batch! RIP Strawberry Rhubarb Cream Ale. Gone, but not forgotten. We also got a pizza, the mushroom one, and were not disappointed with the taste. It was cooked in a wood fired stove, and was large enough to share between the two of us. But meat eaters don't be wary. We saw someone eat a plate of meat with a side of meat!!

Stopped by this brewery with a friend after reading many great reviews about the beer. We got a 9 glass sampler and I was very impressed with the smooth finish in each beer. Out of the 9, I can honestly say 8 of them were wonderful ~ not too shabby! I am a big IPA fan, and both the double and hopnoxious hit the spot. I took a growler of hopnoxious home with me. I didn't really try the menu aside from a plate of nachos, but the food looked really tasty. I'll be back to Wallforff very soon!

Our service was sorta slow, but it was a Saturday afternoon and we didn't mind the nice lazy feel. I enjoyed the IPA I tried, I also really liked the pizza. It's really pretty tough to have a bad day when pizza and local beer is involved. Anyways, this was one stop on our MI beer tour that we weren't too excited about going in, but the beer and the food were great.

Who Knew they have a gluten free menu and the best gluten free pizza I've had in West Michigan??? And I've tried alot of them: Brick Road, Erbellis, Willie Os, Andiamos, etc. The pizza was unbelievably good, cooked in their pizza oven. And the prices were "normal" - not exorbitant like most gluten free pizzas are for their size. The rest of the family loves their regular pizza and beers, but now I can enjoy a restaurant just as much as they do. Walldorff is my new favorite restaurant - you won't find better gluten free crust and toppings anywhere.

Oh man do I love their pizzas. They put real pinapple on it, not to much pizza sause. And they're burgers are killer. I've haven't had a bad meal yet. A great place to go and eat and enjoy a fun atmosphere.

I have been to this place too many times for the quality of food and service I receive. Nothing special food wise or drink wise. I think the dinner menu is too ambitious for the kitchen staff.

Stopped in for a quick lunch during work. The food was good, but the presentation made the taco salad impossible to eat. The tortilla bowl was so overloaded with fixings, that I put the first two forkfuls in my lap. The service was excellent. Unfortunately, I was not able to try the beer...
