pretty solid diner! great breakfast specials! i had the corned beef and swiss which came with chips and a pickle spear. the corned beef was great, didn't notice any fat in it and it wasn't as salty as some corned beef sandwiches can be. our waitress was nice, no complaints at all in that department. the menu is also very straight to the point. i would definitely give this place another go!

Great breakfasts, friendly staff. I will keep coming here. Rex's choice breakfast is a tasty value. I recommend it to those with a large appetite.

It's been a IHOP location forever across the street from Eastland Mall, but after passing what is now Rex's Deli many times, finally ate there. It was amazing! I had the Rueben, and it is by far the best corned beef on the east side. There are comparable ones, but they're basically take out only places, I.e; The Bread Basket, Harry's. Rex's is the shit. Can't wait to go back.

A cute little diner that I didn't discover until today! Very friendly staff. A little crammed and small inside, but with a homely feel. The fresh brewed tea was nice and fresh, and the chicken noodle soup is amazing! The homemade noodles were nice and plump, and had a nice almost dumpling-like consistency. The broth was flavorful, yet not overbearing or overly salty. The vegetables were tender and tasty as well. The only complaint I have for the soup is that the ratio of noodles to chicken meat was off; however, not a deal breaker. I ordered the corned beef sandwich on grilled rye. It was filled with a generous portion of corned beef and was nice and warm when it arrive. It was dressed with melted Swiss and Russian dressing. Overall, very speedy service and delicious food for a decent price. Highly recommended if you're in the area. We were in and out in less than an hour with three people.

Rex's is A-OKAY! And I'm a fan...he's been doing this FOREVER! My very best friend used to be tight with Rex and his family...babysitting his kids...even working with Rex on catering gigs back in the day... He has a great deli. The service was great... I'd always stop in to Rex's!!

Solid neighborhood breakfast/lunch spot (have never done dinner) ... been following this place as it's evolved from "Lefkofsky's" (9 & Kelly) into "Rex's Kelly" (8 & Kelly) and now "Rex's" (Harper Woods) ... or something like that. It's current location actually used to be an IHOP back in the day (60's/70's), went through a few mom & pop transitions and became an IHOP again somewhere along the line before Rex got a hold of it ... Omelets are good ... served piping hot w/the runny cheese and stuff ... just the way I like 'em, ;) ... the potatoes are a nice touch in that they're not exactly a hash brown or American Fries cut, but something in between and sorta' unique to Rex's, IMO. Great sandwiches ... two in particular stand out ... Rex's Deli Special (Corned beef, roast beef, pastrami, swiss/american, lettuce/tomato ... you know, all the food groups) and the T-Rex (1lb of corned beef, pastrami or corned beef & pastrami). I like getting chips vs fries with my sandwiches as well, :). Service always good. A core group of staff has been here a long time as well as a steady group of regulars, so you know they're doing it right, :).

There are few places like this one left these days. The food is excellent while the staff is on top of it. Rex himself is always present making sure his restaurant is working in top order. Rex serves up the best corned beef on the east side.

Service brings this diner the coveted 5 stars. A family feel and judging by the staff-customer interactions, this place has a solid local fan base. Went with a party of four and sampled each. Patty melt , Reuben are my favs. Pancake presentation was mouth watering and the country omelette was tasty. See u there !

Walking up to Rex's door, I was instantly greeted by a pleasant older gent cleaning the windows who called me sweetheart (in a non-creepy way) and complimented my hair. Why thank you! I sat down and looked around, feeling relaxed. The space is open, airy, clean and comfy. The waitresses are nice as can be and the menu a multi-page blend of breakfast, deli-style sandwich fare, and entrees. My salad was freshly made and did not taste like chemicals. My cod was moist and flavorful, the mashed taters real and they even had beef, chicken and turkey gravy to choose from. My man then arrived, and his meatloaf was great. The vibe is upbeat and family-oriented, the food simple and hearty. The value to be had here is fantastic! The entrees are under ten dollars and include a potato, soup or salad, a vegetable, and dessert! Breakfast? Five bucks and you're good to go!!! Perhaps most striking of all though is the friendly feel. You're treated with kindness and consideration from the time you walk in til the time you roll out the door, carryout in hand. Everyone said goodbye to us, including the cook back in the kitchen! Shock and delighted, we vowed to return soon.

The Kelly Deli Special is pretty good. We also had the stuffed cabbage soup and corned beef and cabbage. The soup broth was quite delicious but there was no substance to it. It seemed it had meat in it at one time and maybe even cabbage, too. The corned beef and cabbage was flavorless. The addition of horseradish and pepper gave it some life. We were served a dish of ice cold applie pie. That's right. Cold apple pie. Ugh... our server was rude, too. Kept talking over me. There were several other servers that were helpful, friendly and sweet, but we lucked out. We left in sour moods. Should've spent the evening at The Copper Penny.

We stumbled upon this place thinking it was still an IHOP. I'm glad we didn't leave. As any of you who have been here know, the place is on the smaller side, so it may not do for really large groups. Our wait for a table for 3 was not very long, made even shorter by Rex himself introducing himself and making small talk with us giving a warm welcoming feeling. Looking around, the place is very clean, and bright with a cheery family feel. Our food was very tasty. Not greasy like many other family style places I've been. Our server was very friednly, and accurate and even remembered hubby's milk with his meal. The prices were quite reasonable and you get quite a bit for your dollar. We will definitely go back. It's way east, but well worth the drive across 8 mile.

One of the best corned beef sandwiches. I had a simple corned beef and swiss on rye. The bread was AMAZING. The corned beef is tender, yum with just the right amount of saltiness. I had been to Rex's in their old location and have not been in years. I now wonder what has taken me so long to get back. I can't wait to explore more of the menu.

I had the Kelly Deli Special and the corned beef and other meats and dressing on Rye was amazing!! Rex greets his regular customers by first name and welcomes everyone personally. The prices are reasonable and service is phenomenal. I will go back in a heart beat and steer everyone his way to try their amazing sandwiches. You must try it!
