Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Our group of people were hesitant to trying this place out again because of our previous experience with the former owners, but the new owners have definitely made this a place to not miss out on! Their pasta was absolutely delicious, especially with their garlic cream sauce. We have made it our mission to try out their amazing pizza that we have heard so much about!

New owners! The original Gino's grandson has revamped the menu and you will notice! Treated like royalty as soon as we walk in, even though we look like poor college students. We are the only ones in here tonight, can't believe it with the good prices, friendly atmosphere and tasty food. Sit down carefully, the seats and decor need updating. Now, the food: I've never had such a good margherita pizza in my life. And we have tried a lot of fancy Italian pizza. The tomatoes taste like they're grown in someone's backyard (they might be, the summer just ended) and the flavors just play on all your senses. The caprese and avocado had the same incredible tomatoes. My boyfriend ate the soup before I could set my beer down. Even the music is good. Not country, or popular music, not even classic rock. Just good easy to listen to tunes. Can't wait to return again and again!

Gino's has new owners and it shows. This iconic restaurant has been a staple of Hancock for longer than I remember, but it's reputation was only "meh" for the past 10 years or so. We had the vegetarian pizza and a side of spaghetti. The crust is super thin and crisp! We are already thinking about trying the margarita pizza next time. The spaghetti sauce was a thick meat sauce full of flavor. The pasta was a little soft (I prefer al dente). We had the baileys chocolate cake for dessert, YUM. They are in the process of updating the restaurant (new paint, etc), I hope they keep the old light fixtures, they are pretty and unique. The price was totally reasonable too - $38 (pizza, side spaghetti, dessert, 2 domestic beers and 2 glasses of wine). Overall we are happy to see this place rejuvenated and will certainly be back again soon.

In town for a funeral and came here within large group afterwords. We were served promptly and with kindness. It's also always a good thing when you have a nice waitress at a home town restaurant who sounds like she could drop from lung cancer at any given time. The pizza is of the cracker crust variety. If that is the style you like, it is very very good. Fresh out of the oven with an excellent sauce and a good ratio of cheese.

We stopped in for our pizza on the way to McLain state park. It is thin, crispy & delicious. Atmosphere is average...service is good.

According to our waitress, Gino's Italian Restaurant has been around for 60 years. It sits just off Highway 41 about a short half block in an interesting old storefront building that is surely where it started it's life. Their Bolognese (meat) Sauce is made from scratch every day and is old-world good. I had mine served over Sacchietti which is cheese filled little sack shaped pastas. I asked for the half order and it was a very generous portion served with bread and a side salad. Hubby and Sis2 both got Meat filled Raviolis with Bolognese. The portions were so large that they each got a to-go box to take back to our cabin in the woods for later. Prices were reasonable, service was attentive and I like the idea of supporting local, small town businesses whenever possible. Having lived my whole life in a large metropolitan city, I cherish the more laid back lifestyle of those great old towns dotting the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Gino's is a good example of this and I enjoyed my visit.

This place is the worst place in the Keweenaw I have ever been. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried it twice, BAD mistake. If you like your "Italian" food to taste like Chef Boyardee out of a can and salad from a bag, this is the place for you. Then to get the bill for your dinner out of a can is a joke. I heard people say that this place had the best red sauce and real authentic Italian food, boy were they wrong. The staff are run down and unhappy, I know why. They must be embarrassed at what they are serving you. The people that go there are old and half dead, you must be to like this food. I will NEVER got here again and I tell everyone not to go there.

This a is great mom and pop restaurant. They have some of the best spaghetti and home made raviolis in town, you have to try them. If you are in a sand-which kind mood the burgers and sub sandwiches and amazing!

Terrible. Poor service. No refills on soft drinks. They ran out of pasta and onion rings early on Friday night. A FLY buzzed around my plate all thru dinner.

I liked the food here, pizza was very good and the italian food is pretty swell, id go back, its a local bar/restaurant, so its worth a try, but it is mostly older crowd in there and parking can be a pain.

Didn't really like the pizza or the food. Always seems to be an older crowd in here. The prices and service is pretty good. Parking can be hard since it's pretty much all on the street.
