Came in the first time because nothing else was open on New Years Day. told the waitresses so, and felt a little bad. They were nice anyway. I tried to order chicken fried steak, and she told me not to. So I got the rib breakfast instead. 3 ribs, with eggs and hash browns, about 6 bucks. I'd like to see this on more menus! They seemed to have fried the ribs to heat them up. This makes a nice crust for their chewy grilled ribs - and the sauce is on the side, which ends up being a big plus. I came back for this breakfast, and ordered biscuits and gravy as well. They'll hit the spot, with a screwdriver from their full bar, a super-diner cup of coffee, and a big glass of water. If I'm looking for this kind of food, I'm going to Maine St. first, but I'd rather come here for breakfast!

Three Star BBQ deserves five stars based on their ribs alone. I have been eating here my entire life, and now know why my parents always chose to come here for ribs. When I was a child I did not like meat so I usually ordered spaghetti, which I was always happy with. Now, I always get the ribs, short ends with the sauce cooked on (you have to ask for it if you want it, otherwise the sauce is on the side only.) Their ribs are absolutely delicious and meaty, similar to the kind you'd get from a street BBQ. These ribs are thick, and you can sink your teeth into the solid chunk of meat that is attached to the bones. If you prefer the boiled, soft, fall-off-the-bone type, then you would probably not care for these. I eat here about once a month, and usually have a craving for their ribs specifically that remind me it's time to go back. Three Star is not a fancy place, however the servers are always friendly, it's never too crowded, and the restaurant is clean.

Gross. During my paczki day partying in Hamtown we stopped here for some quick food. I ordered what I like to call the "deep fried medley" - namely, the appetizer sampler, with potato skins, cheese sticks and chicken fingers. Of the three chicken fingers, two of them were raw in the middle, and the cheese sticks and potato skins were microwaved. No joke - they were soft and soggy, post-microwave style. The burgers the others got looked okay, and weren't raw. Our server was friendly, but couldn't seem to remember which pop was diet and which was regular, ever. Just gross. I won't be back.

Have not tried the ribs, but the Chefs Salad is very good, breakfasts are good, and my husband likes the Polish combo plate. Good place to go after Mass on Sunday, nice family friendly place.

A nice alternative to Main Street or the Clock, Three Star Bar-B-Q is a Hamtramck diner that offers a little more. The barbecue items can be a little over priced, though. I consider this place perfect for Sunday morning hangovers because they have comfort foods, the game is usually on, and they have beer. All the other Hamtarmck restaurants are either closed or crazy on Sundays, but this place is just right.

OK -- For all of the folks who reviewed previously and didn't like it -- I say the best fare here is the ribs. I honestly can say that they are great.
