Had one of the worst meals in my life here. Terrible service. Terrible food. And to top it off, someone stole my credit card when we paid and went on a shopping spree in Frankfort.

I live in NW Michigan and this is one of favorite places. Friendly, local and excellent food. Not great wine or beer selection, but they seem to have decent ones at decent prices. Pulled pork, BBQ ribs, fish and burgers are great. Onion appetizer is terrific and serves 4 or so. Year in and year out, this place has good food at better prices than most. Always busy and reason is evident. Those that rate it one or two must really be picky eaters and not satisfied with anything. Fun atmosphere and good place to take visitors.

Yummerton B. Hayes! Service was average at best, although it was packed to the gills. Not a great selection of beer or liquor, but acceptable. The pulled pork sandwich and beef burrito are really very good. Their sauces and dips are made in house and their excellence can't be compared to.

In a touristy area, you expect bars to serve bar food and not f..k it up. Dinghy's delivered with good food and good service. Establishment itself was much like a local tap, plenty of brews on tap. Subdued lighting and a nice view of the bay. Menu was bar food and then some, fresh looking salads and soups are available. I ordered a reuben sandwich and my friend ordered a bacon lettuce tomato sandwich. The rueben was really good ... and huge. I could only eat half of it. The BLT must have had a pound of bacon on it, that thing was stacked. We split an order of fries and each had two beers. Fifteen bucks total. So all in all, this place is definitely worth a repeat visit.

We have had lunch and dinner here. The food quality is great. Portion size is quite large and we needed for boxes. They are kid friendly; the child's menu is limited but is all kid favorites like grilled cheese sandwiches and hot dogs. The chicken salad with dried cherries is great. Highly recommend this place for casual dining.

We came in for something light, but after seeing that the ribs are award winning & smoked, chose to order the full slab & split. The service was prompt, friendly, informative & laid back. The atmosphere was cozy, relaxing & somewhat rustic think fishing cabin styling. We were more than delighted with the ribs - excellent sauce, nice smokiness not over done & the meat just came off the bones. They were flavor-FULL, juicy & tender! So happy with our NON light but delicious meal! Just a note - the plate of fries that accompanied the meal was very generous and with the coleslaw & cornbread, plenty of good for a split! We will be back for sure, possibly to try the BBQ chicken next time?

The burger war winner is a winner! Service was fast and friendly. Stop in early summer or early fall to avoid the summer fudgies.

One of my favorite watering holes in Frankfort. Staff is nice and a good assortment of food. Somewhat expensive but not overly so for a small tourist town

Service was great, very friendly staff. I had the coconut shrimp and a bowl of their twice baked potato soup. Excellent selection. I would recommend this establishment. Very good!

Two good things: 1. Seating was fast. 2. Service was fast. Two decent things: 1. The food was your average bar food. 2. The prices weren't too shabby. No bad things to report. In short: It's your usual bar fare.

Visiting Michigan from California and ate at Dinghy's before visiting the beach in Frankfort. Cute restaurant/bar atmosphere and our waitress was very friendly. She was originally from San Diego...what are the chances we'd get a waitress who is from a city only 90 miles from where we live? I ordered the two cheese grilled (I think that's the name) without onion. Basically a grilled cheese sandwich with two types of cheese and tomatoes. My husband ordered the BLT and we shared. My sandwich was decent. Nothing spectacular but definitely good. My husband's BLT was amazing!! So much bacon and so crispy! Yum! We also ordered the onion blossom for an appetizer which was also surprisingly good. Unfortunately, our friend ordered the chicken salad wrap which was SO heavily drenched in mayo, she actually felt like she needed to squeeze it out before eating it. No good! My daughter ordered the ribs, which she enjoyed and my other daughter had the chicken tenders which she also liked. Great restaurant, friendly staff, cute location and good food! Definitely worth a visit if ever you're in Frankfort.

Go for the Friday night fish fry! The perch is the best I have ever had. The breading is done just right, not thick, light and crispy allowing you to taste the freshness of the fish. We drive 40 miles to get this!

Meh...had the brisket and was unimpressed. The smoked flavor tasted odd. Wife had the cherry chicken salad wrap and it was better than the brisket but not fantastic. The loaded potato soup and cornbread was very good. Son had the custom sandwich which he said was fine as well. All in all just an average place to eat. Not horrible but also not someplace that you want to go back for a repeat visit.

We were on vacation in Northern Michighan from San Diego... we did the whole Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Crystal Lake thing. (SOOOOOO much fun!!) And we wanted to make a stop in Frankfort based on a few recommendations. Dinghys was one of them. Its so much fun to hit up small towns and hit a sweet spot like Dinghy's. It was my 2 daughters and my BF and I. (Hes from Detroit hence the Northern Michighan Nostalgic Vacay :) ) First off service was so good, everyone was really happy and laid back. I ordered the Sandwich of Your Dreams and it DID NOT dissappoint. VERY juicy (for turkey thats rare) and flavorful. My kids each had the pulled pork sandwich and thought it tasted like my homemade ones... SCORE!!! ;) The BF had the ribs and I loved them, he gave them a 4... but Im writing the review, not him. Plus hes way too picky. Beward..... the fries are HUGE, one plate fed all 4 of us. And they were the sweet potato fries make to look like crinkle cut fries. YUMMMMMY. Coming from San Diego and the quality of the food made the price feel right. All 4 of us with no drinks, except for 2 beers had by the BF was around $55. Good stuff.... and I loved Frankfort. Neat place!

We stopped here for lunch the weekend of the Frankfort Art Fair. The food was typical bar fare; the soup (loaded baked potato) was above average, but there's not a lot to choose from on the menu. I enjoyed the old-skool nautical vibe of the interior, but I didn't enjoy the crowded seating or the disengaged waitressing. I'm guessing the atmosphere changes for the better in the evenings, but we weren't particularly impressed with the place during the lunch rush.

Actually very good barbeque. Big fan of the pulled pork and the brisket. The portions are large, the prices are right, and the service I've had has always been friendly. For small town N. Michigan, this place is a great find. I remember when it was Baker's Bar and the fudgie beer was warm, and then the owners who renamed it Dinghy's and introduced the food, and now it has a newer owner who has really improved the atmosphere. Kudos on progressively getting better.

A great atmosphere, with delicious food and nice cold beer!! Makes for a nice place to catch a drink after a day of fishing or a good place to grab a bite. Their soups and corn bread are hands down the best in the entire state. Weekend evenings in the summer can sometimes get crowded, and you will get the occasional arrogant drunk fudgie. But all in all a great place year round!!

Excellent food and outstanding service. The clam chowder is outstanding, as is the "odd colored blue cheese dressing." Can't wait to go back!

Pretty cool local joint, the burgers are good and so is the pulled pork. I really like the atmosphere! Staying the weekend at Crystal Lake, we were visiting Frankfort and came across Dinghy's, Glad we stopped! The yelp reviews as-always pointed us to the right place!!

We were staying at Crystal Mountain but some locals had raved on and on about this place so we went with them for dinner. The ribs my boyfriend had did hang over the plate (as promised) but they were pretty dry. My pulled pork was just ok and the fries were a bit greasy. It seemed like a nice, friendly local place but the food just mediocre at best. Sorry Dinghy's but we should have just eaten at the resort ...

We called Dinghy's on a super busy night downtown Frankfort since another restaurant wasn't answering their phone. I didn't have a menu handy and they had run out of two of the items that I had planned to order. The person taking my phone order was extremely helpful and patient. My children were screaming in the car and the restaurant was super busy so we could barely hear each other. I told her to do her best and she suggested a couple of items, made sure we liked the ingredients and we picked our order up hot and well packed twenty minutes later. The food was pretty good, nothing absolutely spectacular, but definitely good. We will definitely be back.

It's the local pub with a nice bar, tvs tuned to sports and news, with a mix of booths and tables. We all opted for burgers, swiss with bacon, swiss with grilled onion and bleu with bacon. Each burger was accompanied by a dill pickle spear and sliced pickles, which was much appreciated by this pickle loving family. The slices fit nicely on the burger. Since we shared the blooming onion appetizer, we put some of it on or burgers for a little extra flavor. I enjoyed the New Holland Brewing Co. Pumpkin Ale on tap, a seasonal special. Service was friendly and pleasant.

Good food!- when they cook it right. I've come here several times with my family in the past few years and most times I've had a pleasurable experience. However, this year I ordered a burger medium well- and they brought it to me raw! It also took quite a while for them to fix it. I guess it depends on your server, and most aren't too friendly. Yet they get the job done and most of the time its a good experience.

Good bar, and now even better that smoking is limited to after 9. Smell still lingers, but at least its not in your face while you eat. Good burgers, ribs, fish, and steaks. Love the fries. A solid choice for a laid back dinner.

I went to Dinghy's with my family last night....wish I hadn't! Our waitress was horrible, forgetting beverages, not checking back to see how our dinners were, slamming things down on the table. We were 15 minutes too early for the Friday fish, so I ordered the French Dip; it was proclaimed to be smoked and hand-cut. The only flavor came from the au jus, and I suffered gastric distress after eating half of the sandwich. My husband and I shared an order of sweet potato fries - at $4.99, I thought there should be plenty, but it was a pretty measly sized serving (although the fries were tasty, crisp and not greasy). My husband has a cheese burger, and he said it was "ok". Both daughters ordered salad, and they were also "ok". The beers were terribly over-priced. It was the last night of our vacation - I sure wish we had gone to the Roadhouse in Benzie instead!

Dinghys is a great local watering hole, the food is perfect after a long day on the beach or just hanging out down town. The staff is great they are like a family and the owners are the best people. Also, the bartenders are very attentive and will chat with you about pretty much everything. Its also great for large groups. They have a couple large tables in the back and have no problem joining tables together. The decor is pretty great too, look around and you will see some pretty interesting historical pieces about Frankfort.

Dinghy's is hands down the best fish-fry in. Great beer, great people - great all around. It's also smoke-free during meal time, and only allows smoking after the kids have gone home and the drinkers have come out to play.

Yet another four star spot in the one horse town of Frankfort. This is a true "up north" hangout. Solid, tasty food. Lively bar and and endless supply of very friendly, engaging staff. They must pass out Happy Pills during pre-shift meeting. Everyone here is incredibly nice. But friendly, attentive service only gets you so far unless the kitchen can back it up. And they do! Sandwiches are stellar especially the French Dip and Sandwich of Your Dreams, both of which come on a dynamite sub roll from nearby Crescent Bakery. Be sure to add the sweet potato fries with chili-lime aioli. Yum! The entrees range from house smoked BBQ including a Turkey Leg to your request Michigan fish selections to the Betsie Burrito, which seem to appear at every other table.

We stopped on our way to IN from Sleeping Bear Dunes for lunch. I got the pan fried walleye as I had already had perch and whitefish during our vacation. The walleye was excellent, flavorful and delicate, I only used lemon as the taste was wonderful. The portion was exactly right. The cole slaw was some of the best I've ever tasted. My friend enjoyed her chicken sandwich as well. The atmosphere was that of a fun bar and the service was excellent. I highly recommend this establishment!

Was visiting from out of town. This place is great! Great atmosphere and staff. The food was delicious! I had the Cajun burger. Wow probably one of the best burgers I've ever had! Highly recommended if your in the area!

Expensive entrees (walleye dinner $20), but sandwiches are pretty affordable and decent ($10 and below). Clean, warm atmosphere- excellent for eating downtown Frankfort.

Great bar food. Service is iffy it is busy. Worth the wait if you want a cold beer and a great burger. Chef salad was outstanding, French Dip was good. Friday fish was very average. When you go, have a couple of Bombas. These are the best jalapeño poppers EVER. Did I say EVER? Yes I did... As far as the service, if they are busy, make sure you order and get everything you need, they may not be back for awhile...

The mozzarella sticks!!! They are made with won ton wraps instead of breading. Heaven. I am one of those people that makes noises (mmmm, ohhh, ahhhh) while I'm eating something delicious and nothing changed while I was dining at Dinghy's. I also had the BLT, and the bacon was thick and crispy and the bread was prefectly toasted. We had a table of 8 and our server split the bill 4 ways without a single eye roll or complaint. She was awesome! Also, those mozza stix...

We stopped here on vacation. The food is pretty good. We had some good salads. The decor is fun. I would have given the place 4 stars. But it's on the expensive side for sandwich and salad type food. It was $56 for 3 people, no alcohol.

If I could give this place a 0 I would. I have NEVER had a bad service here until tonight. My family has been coming here 20+ years and have ALWAYS enjoyed our first night with dinner at this restaurant. Tonight was the end of that.

Nice atmosphere and friendly service. They ran out of ribs, so I had the turkey leg. It was very good. My wife had the BBQ chicken and it was as good as any I have had in Memphis!

Went here twice while on vacation in Michigan. The first time was for lunch. The restaurant wasn't that busy and the service was fantastic. My boyfriend and I both ordered the French Dip which was phenomenal. I highly recommend it with the sweet potato fries and aioli sauce. The second time, we went for dinner and had a completely different experience. It was on a busy Friday night when they have our fish fry. Service and experience definitely went downhill. They advertised sangria in their menu, but our waitress said the bartender was "too lazy" to make it. She did offer an alternative that was similar. My boyfriend ordered the French Dip again while I went ahead for the fish fry. I guess you need to get there early because they were all out of the baked potato when I ordered. I had a baked sweet potato instead and that was pretty good. So I would recommend going for lunch, not dinner.

Dinghy's is pretty solid and well liked, but it's easy to be popular in a town with less restaurants than the fingers on your hands. They do get props for smoking their own meats, and though I haven't had the ribs, I have heard repeatedly that they are great. Service was good, and they manage to be prompt even on the 4th of July, when Frankfort is elbow to elbow with tourists. My wife's grilled Cheese was very good. It was made on Asiago Sourdough bread and was grilled perfectly, which seems trivial, but so many places fail to accomplish. My French Dip was great, as well. It seemed small, but was actually surprisingly filling. The Au Jus was great (house made) and they provided just shy of enough (I do like to dip every bite thoroughly). The bread was wonderful and the onions and mushrooms were sautéed to perfection. I'd say that if they had put just a wee bit more meat it would be a solid 10/10 sandwich. My only gripe is the booths are sort of "nautical" in design with tubular railings along the seat which make it slightly awkward to enter or exit the booth, especially when you're 6'8" and a bit "husky".

This place was great! I was visiting my family from out of town and we stopped here for lunch based on yelp reviews. The chicken salad with almonds and cherries is so good. I replicated it at home when I got back to CA!

Great little dinner spot. We were up in Frankfort on an ice fishing trip. Our guides recommended and it didn't disappoint. $13.99 all you can eat (perch) fish fry. Service was really good and everyone left full.

Very good pulled pork sandwich, ribs and fish. I was referred to this place and I was not disappointed. Very good service and a good place to hang with the locals in downtown Frankfort. I'll be back.
