Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Tough review. The place is nice and service was good. I saw a nacho plate that was very large! My family ordered burgers as the menu is pretty expensive. They were only ok certainly nothing special at all for the cost. I do not think I will be going back. Nice to try once but it's too expensive for me to make it a regular place especially for the prices.

OK... My first review was spot on. Here is my follow up a few months later. Tonight I got pretty much the same thing as last time with the exception of asparigas. My steak was perfect. The Soup was perfect. I got a hazel nut chocolate cake which was extremely yummy. Why didn't they get five stars? Our server would disappear for extended periods of time. We had to beg for refills. He couldn't even cash out the bill in a timely mannor. But those guys in the kitchen had it going on.

The French Onion Soup is delicious. Hands down, my favorite in the area. The waiter was super friendly and prompt. Really a great dining experience. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun.

Got the Redwood Nachos with BBQ Pulled Pork...Excellent. Kids got the chicken strips they were very good and huge! Didn't have sandwiches on the menu but what they did have was good.

This is a neat restaurant by Grand Blanc hidden and I noticed it when I was on the freeway. I thought I give it a try and it's a cozy lodge like restaurant ( more like an upscale version of Montana's) and their staff are very friendly and nice. Food is tasty and they even have sushi and it's not bad at all. I had the pepper crusted steak which is one of their chef's choices and it was delicious, especially the sauce. The bread ain't their speciality nor the clam chowder! Clam chowder has to taste like Barbara's in Half Moon Bay, CA! One thing that made so annoyed is the place is full of fruit flies and they don't let you eat peacefully. Keep flying around into the food! I would go again only if they find a way to get rid of those fruit flies, makes me wonder whether their kitchen is clean or not.

Others reviewing this restaurant are spot on. A really good place that seems to be consistent, but nothing really outstanding. We went for the in house beer, and found that to be more than adequate. The menu is extensive, but then again that sometimes is not a good thing. No one is good at everything. It is also kind of pricy for the area. I had a crab cake "burger", glad I asked for the cole slaw on the side. Woulda been a disaster on it! With just red onion and lettuce on a pretzel bun, it was delicious. Why would you bury that good crab cake under a mound of gooey slaw? I also had the chili, and it was worth the $3.99 for a cup. My wife had a Greek salad and did not "bite" for the $6 chicken breast. She enjoyed it. Service was reliable and food came quickly. I might stop in for a beer next time I'm in the area, but not that often for a $50 lunch for two.

A good place for dinner and/or a drink or two (great brewery)...not necessarily the best place to bring a large (40+) group. Kind of convoluted, and while the back, private room does indeed have its own bar, there's a divider (half-wall) between it and the rest of the room that makes it problematic for events taking place.

We ate here on the way home tonight. This place is huge. It looked packed to the gills but shockingly we were seated right away. The downside of this is we were crowded into an awkward area near to the bar where it felt like we were in every member of the staff's way, some of the patrons too. The table set up was definitely a negative. The food here is solid. Really delicious mains and salads are accompanied by mostly forgettable sides though so I cannot declare it totally fabu. I will say it has definite happy highlights. Steaks run a bit spendy but they have some menu items at all price points and the portions are hearty. The house salad was a happy hit with both of us. Gorgonzola, dried cherries, walnuts and onions atop mixed greens. I had mine with delicious balsamic and James went with the nicely thin ranch. The bread came in odd half loaves but was tasty dipped into the olive oil, pepper and seasoning mix the have handily at the table. They also have balsamic for a little jazzing up. I had the bbq half chicken served with a mustard barbecue sauce that can only be described as tangily addictive. Perfectly roasted on the bone and torn off in juicy flavorful strips easily with a fork. The garlic mashers that came with were not my particular thing, next time I will swap out for something more interesting. I also expected something totally different when reading roasted root vegetables, I merely got overcooked, tasteless carrots and celery, ick. My husband went with the Redwood Special Porter fish and chips. Three nice pieces of flaky and perfectly coated fish. It was served with a huge portion of decent, coated type fries and some meh steamed mixed veggies which he immediately put on his bread plate and shoved towards me. They have a variety of house brewed beers. My husband was happy with the selection of pale ales. Beer samplers (minimum order of 3) are 1.25 each, cask conditioned samplers are 2.00. You can get pints for mostly 5 and under. The girly drink menu has some interesting picks on it which always makes me happy. They have wine, scotch and tequila flights available and run very nice happy hour specials in their Sequoia Lounge next door from 3-6 weekdays. Waitstaff was friendly but not always super timely. The place just seems a bit chaotic. Overall though I was happy. Its about a three and a half star place on the whole. We will be back when we drive up next.

Ate here while staying at the Residence Inn just around the corner. Top notch place. Ambiance is great but you don't have to be all dressed up to enjoy. However if you choose the crowd is a melting pot of customers. We're took our 2yr old granddaughter and she too enjoyed herself. I had the Shrimp & Scallop pasta and my husband had the Risotto. Excellent choices on both our parts. We both had just wished the cracked pepper and parm cheese were properly offered when we were served our food. Our waiter was very very attentive and food was served in a timely manner! Great place for all choices of food. A bit on the spendy side for entrees but the sandwich/burger menu is priced nicely.

Pizza is great, sushi is good and ribs were pretty good. The waitress was a little impatient, didn't seem like she was in the mood to be there.

Service was outstanding. Scallops were perfectly cooked. Ribs fell off the bone. Delmonico was below average. IPA was excellent. Great atmosphere. Busy but still timely. We will be back.

I enjoy this restaurant because there is no way anybody couldn't find something on the menu to their liking. From sushi to sliders. I've had the ahi tuna, the fish & chips, the blackened salmon and the nachos and every dish was really good. The place is extremely large and the high ceilings means that it can sometimes get a bit noisy, but it's great for a night out with friends. It's also a bit more pricey than a regular casual dining restaurant. The only problem is narrowing down which beer to sample next.

  • Dan W.

Solid service and a full if not on the pricey menu are just two of the thing that make this establishment a 4 1/2 star yelp. From being seated immediately to final bill, it was a pleasurable and belly satisfying experience. I had their beef pot roast that literally melted in my mouth. Unlike another reviewers palette, I thought the garlic mashed and root vegetables to be a good compliment to my meal. I'm not big into salads but the dinner salad was excellent as well. My wife's aunt had their macaroni and cheese dish and kept stating how she would have to try to make it at home. My wife had a salad dish that she also said was very good. Finally I had one of their seasonal beers ( bier in German). A German dunkel that was light yet fully flavored and really set off the meal. Would we go again? We will definitely be back.

The food was good but was not great I had the ribs they were good tender but just average ribs, the atmosphere was nice place is beautiful. But I think it's a little overpriced, I brought my whole family there because I was told that it was a great restaurant. so this was my second time. same thing food was good atmospheres nice, but it was just good food but not great

We stopped in here for lunch without knowing anything about the place. It's in an office park area, which seems a little weird at first, but the inside of the restaurant is cool. It's a mix between a hunting lodge and a brewery. They make a bunch of beers which are pretty good. I got their version of a french dip sandwich and it was great. If I'm ever nearby again, I'd certainly go here.

    (4)
  • M K.

This place went down hill for awhile but I recently returned with a large group and I was impressed enough to return for lunch a few times lately because I work nearby..The wood fired pizzas (godfather) are probably the best thin crust in the county as far as I'm concerned and the Beer and onion soup, lodge French dip sandwich and redwood nachos are also great choices for lunch; haven't done much dinner yet. As far as beers I tried the Munich and it was excellent! Herb encrusted tuna used to be on the entree menu and was the best thing on the menu five years ago ++ but now is under appetizers at $15.99!!!' Haven't tried recently but will update soon..

I was torn between 3 and 4 stars for this review, but decided to lend them the extra for being one of the nicest restaurants I've visited in Michigan. We went here for a birthday dinner with my in-laws and pulled the full apps-beer-dinner-dessert experience. Prices were a little high, but the food was very good. We sampled an excellent flatbread appetizer, a little small, but lots of flavor. The husband and I both went for the safe steak, mine was a filet oscar (I'm a sucker for this dish). Both were cooked to a nice medium-rare, perhaps a little closer to the medium side. Portion sizes on the entrees were respectable; I was full but not stuffed (well, until dessert). It was a little odd to me the way they treated their ahi tuna. My father-in-law ordered up the 8oz. herb-crusted ahi on the side but you could barely taste the tuna for all the rosemary they slapped on it. I wouldn't recommend it for big tuna fans. Their microbrews were decent, too. My favorite was the pilsner but I was less than impressed with their amber ale. On the alcohol note; for a nice restaurant, their wine menu was lacking. I ended up having a glass of Ravenswood zin which is kind of a joke at nearly $7 a glass. I didn't check the brand on my mother-in-law's white zinfandel, but I'd be willing to bet money it was the old Beringer fall-back, that's just the kind of selection they had. As for atmosphere, that was where I was tempted to dock a star. It's a lodge, yes; but it's also a bar. The music was a little too loud and a little to eclectic (country, pop, R&B), menus were paper, and there were a lot of ads for gimmicky "nights." I'd also like to agree with another reviewer who mentioned the tables were poorly arranged. They're WAY too close together. There was no one at the table behind us and the staff still had to shimmy uncomfortably close to get between me & the empty chair. And, as is becoming evident in my good 'ol home state: 5-star service is hard to find. Our waiter (Kevin) was very nice and very knowledgeable, but unorganized and trying way too hard. He was by the table every 5 minutes asking if everything was OK, and he repeatedly served the wrong food to the wrong patron. I like to end on a good note, so let me say the dessert was wonderful. Not too fancy, just good quality sweet stuff. Try the peanut butter pie, for sure. I'd say it's a great place for a nice dinner out, as long as you have a little patience and a sense of humor.

My husband and I go about once a week. Husband says the oyster's are great ( I will take his word for it) , and he is from Florida. I always get the sashimi tuna appetizer. I am just crazy about the spicy seaweed. We always just get appetizers, service is fast. Happy hour in the bar starts at 3 pm with 2 $ beer. Raw bar opens at 4pm. Forgot to add hubby found a real nice pearl in a oyster.

Cleanliness...4 Food...2 Service...4 Price...4 Atmosphere...3 Beer...4 Beer was good...The place is loud...Raw oyster were awesome but I hate it when you order Tuna and they serve you a piece of thawed fish!!! Sides sucked!!!

  • Jeremy G.

As many others have stated, this place is nothing special and pricey for what it is. The steak was not worth the price but the prime rib was excellent. Be sure to get some beer samplers, they are actually reasonably priced compared to the food.

Great food, amazing beer. The pulled pork nachos or pot roast cassidia is a must to start with. Steaks are great, pizzas are great and pretty much everything else I've had. Nice place to relax with friends and watch a game in the sequoia lounge.

I take the family to Redwood once a month. They have really good food, but not many options if your trying to watch your calorie intake. Lots of people are reporting that Redwood is expensive, but that's not entirely true. Redwood has two menus and they always give you their main menu, which has a lot of expensive dinners on it. You have to ask for the Pub menu to get more economical, and still very good, options. Our favorites are the pizza, olive burger, and Lasagna. All their beers are very good, especially the Hefeweizen thats brewed in the fall.

This steakhouse is by far one of my favorite. i went here in late feb and i was impressed by the selection and quality of the food! there are two menus to choose from. a lunch and dinner menu. the price is a little bit high but totally worth it.. in fact thats the only negative thing about the place. there was a wedding going on when i was there and the clinking of forks against glasses was a little annoying but an all around great place to have a great steak!!

    (5)
  • David G.

Sorry the worst steak I have had-:( order the Delmonico at 28.00 dollars no good. I did not send back or complain because the bartender was very nice and good service.

This is probably a special occasion place for a lot of people. The prices are above average, but not outrageous for the food being served. I had Australian lamb and it was very good. Our waitress was very willing to check on details for us and was well informed. Good place to eat and worth the extra money.

Great beer and great food. Definitely lives up to the reputation of "#1 Small Brewery in America 2009"! A must is the Brown Porter - phenomenal. Good food as well - - recently changed their menu (new ownership?) - a little more expensive than before and not so much like typical pup-food! A nice change. Love it..frequent it!

Great place to stop if you have time before your flight @ Bishop Airport. Dark inside, but the menu is good with apps, sandwiches, salads and entrees. I had the pot roast quesadilla! Good portion for an app and I couldn't eat it all. They made a nice grilled cheese for our son.Quick service. A large selection of beers that are made there too!

I've been here several times. I've had the duck, the lamb chops and several different steaks. I've never had a bad meal. $5 for a pop is a bit over the top. Beer selection is great. Dessert is a must have. Always have had great service.

We just had possibly our worse dining experience ever. We wanted a special lunch to celebrate selling our house and were mistaken in thinking this was an upscale restaurant. No one greeted us when we walked in because the waitress was actually sitting upstairs in the closed but very visible section of the dining room, eating! Several other employees were lounging in the area as well. Finally the waitress got up from her meal, wiped off her mouth and came to take our drink order. She went back to eating several times in-between waiting on us!! She even came to our table with food around her mouth and talked to us with food coming out of her mouth! Unreal! She brought us chili instead of the soup we ordered and then the upcharge was actually on bill when we asked for it! The tuna was prepared well but had no sauce - just dry tuna served with dry rice, even though I'd asked for a vegetable substitute. When I asked to speak with a manager before paying my bill, I was told "there are four sitting over there". None of them had the decency to even get up and come talk to me. One finally did and when I told her the issue started when we walked in and saw the waitress eating was the same one serving us and that she talked to us with food in her mouth, her answer was, "well, they work very long hours." The management is pathetic, the service is disgusting and the food is lackluster.

I travel for work and look forward to getting to Flint to enjoy Redwood Lodge. I've never had a meal that wasn't fantastic and while I don't drink beer, everyone I take with me raves about them! The restaurant is a steakhouse dressed up as a brewhouse so bring an appetite and get ready for some high quality red meat. Portions are large and the food is tasty. The service is always solid and the wait staff is well versed in the menu. If you're in Flint and you need a good meal, get yourself to Redwood Lodge and dig in!

Great appetizers. Try cajun lobster app and boursin cheese app. God father pizza was deliciously meaty with a sweet and spicy sauce. great for groups and great beer selections!

  • Chad C.

I am rating this a 5 more for the beer than the food. While the Redwood Salad and tortellini were great, the cream stout was top notch! Our server and the roomy lodge feel were wonderful as well. Well worth being THE place to stop in on the way or from coming back from up north.

  • Ellen P.

When we have to travel downstate Flint frequently becomes a good stopping point to or from, and when we're in the mood for something other than fast food we always go to Redwood Lodge. We enjoy the lodge interior; we always have a good dinner (we like both the meat-intensive and the pasta dishes, and the Redwood dinner salad is also good). Because we're traveling when we stop in, we don't, ironically, indulge in the Redwood's brews all that often, but when we've sampled them we've liked them. The atmosphere is usually quite busy, at least in the evening, but it's not a loud place; you can have a relaxing meal. We've also always found the service to be swift and professional.

  • Palmer H.

I always get the sashimi tuna appetizer. It is delicious! Had the oriental beef wraps last visit. This is a lettuce wrap appetizer with seasoned beef tips and vegetables. Very fresh and tasty! I often get a couple of appetizers instead of an entree here. They have great appetizers!

  • Fred P.

Great food and brew. We drive from Saginaw to enjoy the best steak and house salad, anywhere. Lightly seared herbed tuna is superb. Try the onion rings, incomparable. Sadly, no more cigar bar but the food will impress you! I hate the Ridiculous laws that infringe on freedom of choice regarding smoking. Isabella is a great and knowledgeable server. Don't miss Redwood Lodge!

    (5)
  • Dan L.

Redwood is great for lunch. The burgers and sandwiches are outstanding and the prices aren't bad. The house beers are quite good. Try the Saison when it is in season. The food menu changes at dinner time. You can't get a burger in the dining room and the dinner dishes are quite expensive. The quality of the dinner menu is pretty good, but I still think it is over priced. Plan on spending $100 per couple.

  • Nawal D.

We ate here a few times with my husbands family and we all loved it. The atmosphere is great. The food is great as well. A little pricey, but its good. Their drinks can be a little pricey too. Theres a little bar thats part of this, and I used to come here with my in-laws for a few drinks and catch up when they're in town. We ended up having a $100+ bar tab between me, my husbands step mom and his aunt, but we had a bunch of girly drinks and it was a great night and well worth it.

  • Glenn F.

Recently had a birthday dinner here and had a good time. Love their beer sampler and the food has always been good. I had the whitefish dish here and it was excellent and appropriately priced, given the portion size. I'll agree with the other reviews mentioning the steak prices. Even though it was my birthday, I didn't want to spend that much on a steak. Although I gave my waitress my ID when I ordered the sampler, she neglected to notice it was my birthday. That was a bit of a disappointment, but otherwise, we had a decent dinner.

It's a little hard to find, because of the surrounding hotels. The cheeseburgers and fries ar good. Pretty big place.

Food is good but a little pricey. Five stars for the atmosphere, entertainment and beer.

Fantastic from the sirlon pot roast to the steak spicy chili! Also great raspberry beer.

  • Lisa W.

Microbrew, but at the same time, the sort of place you'd have prom dinner as long as you don't mind looking at stuffed wild game. I've been here several times to eat, but even though I am a beer lover -- I've never tried their microbrew! Sacrilege. The space is wide and open, with a visible kitchen and the brewery on clear display. The atmosphere is definitely "lodgey", with the stuffed game trophied on the walls. The menu has many safe bets -- steaks, grilled shrimp, chicken dishes, salads, pastas. The quality is the same you'd expect from a catered wedding dinner -- not too outrageous. Very safe choice.

I enjoyed my visit to Redwood Lodge. It's large with a log cabin atmosphere. We went Saturday at 6, and there was no wait. I sampled the Belgian and Pale Ale beer and liked both. Sometimes beers at breweries have funny after tastes and I found that these did not. I wish we had ordered the beer sampler. Redwood's house salad was more creative than most house salads with its dried cherries, walnuts and ?feta cheese. I ordered the pound of crab legs and they were delicious! I think they gave me more than 1 lb. My fellow diners were not as impressed with their meals as I was.

  • Bruce S.

Redwood Lodge is definately one of my favorite restaurants of all time anywhere!! The food is off the charts and the service is exceptional. They offer unique (house) salads that I have yet to compare to anywhere else, in that they use other forms of lettuce and greenery, as well as cranberries and nuts and crumbled cheese and other craziness. they have the best salads! they microbrew their own beer, which has always been an adventure to the palate. the beer goes down good, so that's a plus! They have won several awards for their microbrews, so drink up those pints mates! the decor is backwoods lodgey, but its not overdone and its not in your face, so it is a non issue. the food is to die for and has never disappointed. bring your charge card though because they ARE quite pricey. that's ok, though, because you absolutely get what you pay for here - top notch quality! 5 stars, for the win.

    (5)
  • Lance S.

The beer here is absolutely great (5 star) - the food is overpriced and ok at best (2-3 star). The service is always very attentive and atmosphere is spot one. Over the past several years the food selection has went from a very full menu to a much smaller, limited one. Steaks are of good quality, but are simply overpriced. If you like to try different salads, the Redwood salad is something to have. The steak tip chili is a must for chili lovers! If you partake in cigars, the Sequa Lounge is a phenomenal place to kick back with friends and enjoy a drink with a stogie. I'm not sure what days they have live music (in Sequa Lounge), but sometimes this can be overpowering (if you're trying to have a conversation).

    (3)
  • Roy R.

Overpriced, trendy. Not worth the visit

    (2)
  • Becky P.

Good atmosphere, large enough so there is rarely a wait even on the weekend, even if the lot looks packed. Love the seared tuna, salmon. Never had the steak personally. Ask for bread, new policy likely due to the economy.

  • Tom L.

I would rank Redwood Lodge in my top 10 list of favorite restaurants anywhere! Not only do they have great food, they also have award winning micro brewed beer that they brew right there! I've cut red meat out of my diet completely, but I can always find something delicious on the menu. If you're a beer drinker make sure you try their sampler. After dinner make sure you check out the Old Sequoia Lounge which is a cigar bar with a really relaxing atmosphere!

  • Lawrence S.

Redwood Lodge is located where US-23 and I-75 connect and has been in business about 7 years . They have a huge menu and some very fine microbrews to try . They also have a cigar bar if you want to light up after dinner . Of course all this puts the tab up at the end of the night . My wife always gets the seafood salad and she raves about it . They have a good selection of steaks and burgers . You almost feel like you are in a hunting lodge in one of the western states . The sfaff is well trained and arrive at you table within seconds of being seated .

My business trips to Flint are made special by this place. They genuinely care about what they serve, and I've never had a bad meal or drink here. I can recommend the Munich Helles and the Lake Perch.

I must admit I have a conflict of interest reviewing this place, as I worked there for a year in high school as a dishwasher. Even after eating here multiple times in the past, I am still impressed with their food and their beer. 9 years later they've still got it! We came in before a wedding reception to get some beers and an appetizer. We decided to go with the pulled pork nachos, because who doesn't want pulled pork on nachos?? The chips were well done and crispy, may have been homemade? And slathered with barbecue sauce and pulled pork with melted cheese baked on top crusted with vegetables and jalapeños. Very well done. Oh also, their portion was enormous. Check the photo I posted. The beer I tried was a limited release bourbon porter in a 7 ounce snifter glass. The beer was very balanced and smooth with a subtle hint of the barrel they aged it in. I truly enjoyed it. From previous experience, if I were to come for dinner you can do no wrong here with a good cut of beef. Filet or T-bone with the mashed potatoes would be my recommendation. The service was quick and excellent, they always have a ton of space and you rarely have to wait for a table. Overall: a very nice place to get a steak in a land of mediocre food. Their beer is pretty good too.

Was visiting for a week in Flint and decided go to happy hour at the Redwood Steakhouse. After the first visit I ended up going there on several other occasion while staying in Flint. The craft beers that I tried were excellent and the happy hour prices were suprisingly low. The food that I ordered was all very good. The menu has a variety of items to choose from. Oysters were fresh and the Sushi rolls were great. We sat at the bar in the main dining area. The bartenders were always attentive and made sure that all our needs were met. The Sushi bar is near by and the employees working in the Sushi bar are friendly and entertaining to watch work. Great customer service here!

Beer is ok and food is average at best for the price. I always visited for the Lobster Saute but that was removed from the menu. I have been back multiple times with my kids and none of us have really had anything good except the steak. It is a Steakhouse so order steak, anything else may lead you to disappointment. Last visit was the backend Mahi Mahi wrap and there was hardly any fish. Not enough to really taste. The Pulled pork sandwich has the worst bbq sauce and was not enjoyable either.

Redwood salad was drowning in balsamic dressing. Get it on the side. 8 oz filet was cooked to correct temperature. Green beans had too much oregano and oil. Wild grilled Mushrooms garlicky with too much oil. Get all oil on the side. Beer cold. Waitress was attentive. I didn't share complaints.

I was craving some calamari so I looked up a few places in the area that served it. This place was the closest by me so I figured I give it a try. This restaurant is a lot bigger in the inside, I was surprised with the way it is set up. It doesn't look like a typical steakhouse. There are several seating areas and are sectioned off spaciously. There is a sit down bar in the back and another, more lounge like. I only walked in a little bit to take a glance, so I wasn't clear with what I saw because the room was dimly lit. The service was friendly. I went to the bar to order my take out for calamari. The calarmi was not my typical. It was thick and the coating of flour was really light. Though the frying wasn't too great because there was no crunch and it kind of seemed a bit soggy. For a higher end place, I guess I shouldn't expect that they give me much, but I was expecting a bit of a larger portion when they mentioned "for 2." The sauce was interesting. It was thick, and more of a cajun style sauce. I expected calamari to be more thinly cut but these were large and chunky, which is why I assume there should be more coating of flour and fried a bit longer.

I came to Redwood with a large family group the other night, including three young kids and one baby. The place is huge and there is certainly plenty of space for a big group! For a steakhouse they have quite a selection on the menu, although the one thing that was surprising is there are no entree salads on the menu. There is a house salad that comes with the steak entrees, that I assume you could ask for as a meal, however none are actually on the menu. Most of the people at the table got steak. One couple got pizza to split and they really enjoyed it. It was super thin crust, looked yummy, but I didn't have any. I actually ordered off of the asian fusion menu. I got tuna tartare with avocado and cucumber in seasoned soy sauce. It was REALLY good! My husband always makes fun of me for going to a specialty restaurant and ordering something different off the menu, but this time worked out for me luckily. Our waitress was also great, especially with three kids that were very high energy. She was very responsive to our requests and brought things out quickly. Great experience overall!

It was so delicious! I got the Twin Rolls sushi platter and my boyfriend has the pot roast dinner with the white cheddar mashed potatoes. Three people at our table got nachos and (the server will warn you) they are GIGANTIC! The whole table probably could have shared and order of them. The pulled pork machines were especially delicious. Being a brewery, they obviously have some great beers. I tried the Coconut Porter, which is a beer cocktail with rum, coconut vodka, and one of their own beers. It tasted just like a Mounds candy bar - very delicious if you LOVE coconut!

Standing Volcano Pork Shoulder Osso Bucco in Grand Banc, MI??? Really ?? Second best ever; they even had Broccolini as the veg !!! Perfect - nice bottle of red and all set! Perhaps too many white onions in the risotto- but very good nonetheless.... Vito + Joe at Leonardo's in Romulus -- do not despair - your Volcano Roast is still primero my friends - not sure if it's the cut or prep - still número uno !! Above average wine list at Redwood - priced right too - Opus 2010; Barolo's; Amarone's. Give Redwood(ie) a shot !! JW

4 stars for food. 3 for service. I'll use my last visit to sum up the service. -It was my birthday which fell on a Wednesday so it wasn't incredibly busy. We walk in, the 2 hostesses look up at us, don't smile, don't say anything. Just look down at their chart quietly talking to each other. At this point I'm assuming (hoping) they're discussing where they're going to seat us. Suddenly one of the women grabs four menus and says "follow me." Yes mam!! Once seated we are greeted by a pleasant older women. I liked everything about her. Until we started ordering.....she felt the need to repeatedly comment on almost everything we ate, and not in a conversational "oh that's my favorite thing on the menu!" Type thing, it was more like little digs, like she repeatedly commented on how much bread my husband ate, making him feel uncomfortable. I would say she mentioned his "love of bread" minimum 3 times. It got so uncomfortable that despite the fact that it was my birthday and we were going to get dessert we opted not to because she had successfully made us feel like we at too many carbs for the night. We haven't been back since then. I'm sure we'll still go back eventually as I'm sure this was an isolated incident with this waitress, but I do wish they would remind their hostesses what their job is. Also, maybe go over appropriate manners with your wait staff. - the Food: I love there varied menu and have never had any issues as far as food quality. As a matter of fact, I love their food. That's why I chose it for my b-day dinner. -the Beer- I personally don't drink beer but my husband enjoys their beer selection and often gets there sampler. Food is Good, just watch your staff!

Chose this spot while in town on business as it was close to my hotel. Glad I did. I sat at the bar and the service was excellent. Good atmosphere and a lot of options on the menu to choose from. For dinner I went with the filet. It was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. A good wedge salad is a must have for me at a steakhouse and this one was really good. For drinks, I went with their in-house brewed pale ale. It was really good. They don't distribute so the only spot to get any of their beer is in the restaurant. Highly recommend this spot - I look forward to trying other entrees and drinks when back in town.

Great place! The place has a up north cabin feel to it and the inclusion of the brewing system for their beer is a nice touch. The food is awesome! The steak I had was very tender and perfectly cooked. They have great variety of chicken steak and seafood I would recommend coming here to anyone.

First time. Nice people. Great food. Tasty beer. I had a few pints and the crab cakes. I'd recommend them to anyone. Busy place, popular for sure. Glad we found it.

Short Take: great beer, food was great, service was great and the atmosphere was awesome! We stopped in for a small lunch on our way up north. We tried a flight of beer and an app of their Mediterranean flat bread. It was pretty empty, so our server (the bartender since we sat at the bar) was exceptionally accommodating. The beer is incredible. Their stouts were pretty awesome, but their lighter beers are really the highlight, IMO. They've won several awards for many of their beers and you can definitely see why. I'd recommend the sampler flight if you're unsure of where to start. The menu is exceptionally varied. There's some Mediterranean food, pizza, steaks, burgers and even sushi. It's almost a bit too crazy and I wonder how well they can pull everything off. However, the flatbread we got was wonderful. We saw a few burgers go by and those looked incredible. We have made it a mental note to go back for a more thorough review of the food. We were told the kitchen makes a lot of things from scratch. Our appetizer was delicious, so I'm pretty optimistic! Our bartender did a great job selling us on the beers -- even those they didn't have on tap! She went out of her way to find us a hefewiesen that was made in the summer and wasn't on tap anymore. I'm a big fan of wheat beers, though, so I bought it. My husband got a growler of beer to go as well. We'll definitely be back!

4+ star food. 2 star service. Redwood used to be top notch. This recent visit, after a few years away, made me wonder what happened to it. We stopped by at 7:00 on a Sunday night, and there were only a handful of tables in the whole place. Our service was just really bad. Example? Me: "I'll have a glass of the such-and-such Zinfandel." Server" "The red one?" Me: "Yeah" ~sigh~ Another example, overheard from the table next to us by a woman who flagged the server down: Woman: "I'm sorry, I'd like to change my drink order." Server: "I already rang it in." Yikes. Our food was really good. Steaks were deeeelicious. Still, the service made it just feel like we got ripped off when our bill for 2 meals and 2 drinks (no appetizers or desserts) came to $90. If our service had been great, that would have been a steal. I might go back one more time and see if we could get better service, but I'm not optimistic.

Very good food. The dinner prices are $20+ the food was excellent quality. I had the Mahi mahi and it was excellent. We also ordered the risotto and it was amazing. I will go back there again.....very nice atmosphere and quite quite, it's also very spacious.

I stopped in here for a steak because it was close to my hotel and convenient and was pleasantly surprised. I had a Delmonico and it was cooked to perfection and a high end quality piece of meat, not a mass produced restaurant cut. They substituted green beans for potato for no charge, and even the beans were crispy and good. Only reason I took off half a star is it's a little pricey. Not super bad, but a little high for what you get. If I am ever back in the area I will return, and that's saying something.

Amazing. My friend and I had a girls day and wanted to stray from our city and find a good steakhouse. I stumbled upon this one because of my fellow Yelpers. We were both in love with our food. She ordered pot roast and I had the prime rib. The meat was so tender! There was not much talking during the meal, but there were a lot of low guttural noises of pleasure. Beer was good. Hell yeah, steakhouse. We would both do you again in a heartbeat. You just did us that good.

We had dinner here the night before the Crim race in Flint. I was surprised that we were able to get a table without waiting, as we arrived at 8 PM on a Friday night. Overall the food was excellent, with a couple of exceptions. First the excellent: Bruschetta appetizer - I thought it would be a ton of tomatoes on bread with some cheese, but it was actually very well proportioned and not a huge dish. Delicious!! The house salad was small, but very good as well. The ribs were EXCELLENT! Fall off the bone yummy. For dessert we had the Salted caramel crunch cake, also delicious. There was one dish that we ordered that was just not good. That dish was the Filet Oscar. First off, the Oscar part (crab topping) was made with crab with a K, in other words, imitation crab. Very disappointing. The crab cake that the filet sat on was very bland and the filet was not seasoned either. I would suggest they take this item off the menu. The atmosphere was very fun and inviting, not too loud, just right. Service was good. Beer selection is excellent. We'll definitely be back!

Thoroughly enjoyable meal. Their own craft brewed Pale Ale paired with a perfectly prepared NY Strip was the bright spot in an otherwise gloomy day. This place always hits the spot. They also have great live bands on Saturday night.

Came here with my team for dinner. The restaurant has great ambience, and it offers a good selection of dinner menu and wine list. Our server was great, courteous and attentive. The Oscar Salman dinner was tasty, and the portion was good. The Pinot Grigio was sub par though.

Wow!!! I love this place. The service is awesome, food is awesome, and they brew beer! The prime rib is my favorite but why wouldn't it be...? My son got a brick oven pizza! And my husband got the perch! Spinach artichoke dip for a appetizer.. Amazing! Did I mention our service was great? :) Saturday night and our food came out quick and super yummy!

Sat at the bar and the service was very good because you have the server trapped so that is why I always sit at the bar traveling though I do not drink. I had the Chef's Signature Dish - something medallions - guess it was not memorable to me. The only Signature thing I remembered was my signature on the credit card that was pricey for a non-drinking semi so so meal. What looked as though it would be layers of flavors it was not memorable or very flavorful. Best part of the meal was the salad with crumbles. Hampton Room key gets you 10% off - I have been back in the area for 10 days and have not, nor will I visit this place again though it has potential.

I can only speak for this place as far as beer and The Mother's Day brunch are concern. Came here on Mother's Day and first thing i will say is that reserve ahead because this place fills up on this day. For this buffet they had seafood (about7-10 items)stir fry station (best thing here), prime rib carving (good), salad bar (decent nothing special), chicken piccata. (Also good), pork loin and about seven other items I can't remember. They also had various desserts which was really really good (Oreo dirt pie and strawberry cheesecake bites). As for the beer I had the redwood light (real talk, the best light beer I have ever had) and another I can't remember but I can tell you it was good, really good. Overall the beer made my trip worth it and while some things was good during the brunch, it was not worth the $26 dollar charge (maybe 15, but not 26). Overall this place has me intrigued and I will be back to try there actual menu.

There is so much to say about this spectacular venue. The food is consistently good, very fresh and always prepared to the same high standard. The dishes are innovative without being overly complex. The craft beers generally brewed on site are rightfully award winning. Service is great without the over bearing nuisance that many higher end establishments come along with. All round great value and consistently so, great job guys.

Good, varied menu all done well. But the reason I keep coming back is the Munich Helles which is hands down my favorite Michigan brewed beer. Wish they would distribute it so I could get it other places.

I would have given this Steak House a five star rating if my server Kylee looked after her bigger tables before coming to me.

Didn't even know they had a back bar! Slow food service, not the best drink service, and a strange anatomical smell, but still decent. I always go with great company, so that outweighs the cons.

Good value, average ambiance. On business trip checked in hotel near Redwood. Hotel attendance recommended it for dinner. The waitresses we're nice, those who were not in charge of my table were so so. Salad is great! The rib is ok, not very flavored. The sauce was too sweet, I'd think regular BBQ sauce would have been better. Not bad but not great either.

. I have been here multiple times. Food is unique and very tasty. Steaks are specialty. Have not had anything I wouldn't order again. Their pizza is quite different but tasty. Prices are on the high end so can't eat here often. Wait staff is very informative and prompt. Always a pleasure eating here.

House salad was a pleasant surprise and the seemingly simple sourdough bread was extremely crusty and flavorful. My pepper-crusted filet medallions were medium-well-to-well when I requested medium and the sauce was slightly oily, but the dish was still very good. The (giant) scallops were the highlight of the plate - a great surf and turf combination. I would order this again.

Let's start with your recent Yelp trending... started at 4, slipped to 3, and falling. This place has a lot going for it. Although it is a bit hard to find hidden amongst the hotels, it's a restaurant/ microbrewery with a large spacy Lodge theme. A bit pricey for what it is (read: Tourists!) but I didn't think it was too bad. But wait... Although the hostess didn't bother to make eye contact at all, and literally walked away from me (expecting me to follow? Hey, it's a torn ligament, slow down!). The waitress Danielle was very nice. The menu was HUGE! Tons of options from appetizers, pizzas, sushi, pasta, and steaks. A second seperate menu for burgers and entree sized salads. A third menu for beer and cocktails. A little guidance was needed, and none received. (Besides, Gordon Ramsay says you won't be able to everything well with that large of a menu!) The house salad was delicious. The lettuce was straight out of the freezer! Walnuts, dried cherries, house vinegarette over field greens. It came with individual sized bread (that had recently been warm). There was oil and basalmic vinegar on the table... but I had to pour my own, and had to ask for sweetener for my iced tea. I ordered the 8 oz filet mignon, upgraded to the red-pepper gnocci, and ordered a crab cake addition. The gnocci was okay, and the crab cake was really good. They steak however, was a vast disappointment. If that's a Select cut of Filet Mignon, then I'm Brad Pitt! As a person who eats this particular steak extremely frequently, I know when I'm being had. Then I noticed the "chuck filet" on the menu. When I asked my waitress she took it to the manager... who looked at me and then smirked. No need to visit the table when you know you did wrong, I guess! Danielle said when she asked the kitchen, they "took the wrapper out of the trash and showed it to her". No wonder the meat window in front of the kitchen was empty. Redwood Steakhouse... you tried to pass one off on me, and considering I paid that means you succeeded. However, you won't get a second chance. A very generous 3 stars.

Great ambiance. Got the beef tips appetizer with a side salad. The beef tips were awesome, the right amount of char and not too much sauce. Like they do flights of beer.

Ordered the lunch portion of the sweet chili shrimp and the lunch portion of the pan fried perch and split it with the hubby. The shrimp dish was overly sweet and not enough spice. The perch was light and tasted good. Neither of us took a second bite of the rice...one bite was enough. Rice tasted bland and kind of hard. I had a Tito Dirty martini and my hubby had the Koch beer both of us loved our drink choices. Only issue was the waitress charged us for the dinner portion even though she confirmed the lunch portion order. I would have let it slide but the hubby wasn't having it...there was about a five dollar difference per meal. And then she claimed they were the same price even though the menu she gave us stated different. Other than that our waitress was nice but we didn't see her often....took about twenty minutes to get our check back but hey there was about six other tables occupied during that time.

Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday, because I was in town for a conference. Liked that they could make numerous offerings gluten free or would serve them without a bun. Service was solid, apparently they have gluten-free desserts but I didn't them. The sheer quantity of their beer menu would delight friends had I come with others, making it a good place for a group even though I went alone. Burger was good, too. A solid lunch spot, especially since it wasn't busy yet.

Very comfortable atmosphere. Server was pleasant and engaging. Redwood salad was delish and crusty warm bread was also delish. I ordered the pot roast, mashed potatoes and gravy. Better than Sunday dinner at home. Hubby had a burger cooked perfectly and the biggest most delish onion rings. Fries were hot and crispy. We may have to return to Flint Michigan just to eat here again!

Favorite place to eat on a regular basis! Food is fantastic since Luis is back in the kitchen. Wine tasting and martini tasting nights are so much fun and very reasonably priced. Beers are great, favorite is the Cream Stout.

I would give 4 and a half stars if I could. We started with the oysters Rockefeller and on the half shell which were both amazing. I had the clam chowder next which was also very good. My entree was the cedar plank salmon. It was good, I have certainly had better though. I probably wouldn't recommend it, but they are a steak house and everyone that ordered beef commented on how amazing it was. They are also a brewery and in my opinion, an excellent one. If you are a fan of craft beer I would recommend a flight. They are reasonably priced and a great way to sample the many great beers they have available.

I have passed the Redwood Lodge/Steakhouse multiple times on my way to Flint and finally ate at this restaurant last week. The ambiance is really neat. It is like an upscale wooden lodge. While the menu is extensive, but it also very expensive. My friend and I both ordered their redwood lodge salad with chicken and while it was large and tasty, it was also $16! The salad itself wasn't too bad, but to add a piece of chicken was $6. Pretty pricey for a small chicken breast. We also shared an appetizer of the spinach artichoke dip, which was excellent. They had a very extensive wine and beer list. While our waiter was a very nice young man I must say the service of the other staff left something to be desired. My friend had to leave early as her son was getting fussy, so I finished my dinner by myself and ordered another glass of wine since I was in no rush to leave. The restaurant was not overly busy that evening (I would have hurried to finish if they needed the table) but a woman (who I am going to assume is the owner/manager) took away the chair my friend was sitting at without asking if she could have it or if my friend would be back. I found this to be pretty rude. After I paid, two young girls who were standing at the host area muttered under their breath (thanks for coming). They looked more like they would be interested in a root canal than return service to this establishment. I wouldn't go back.
