Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

Looked on Yelp for a restaurant close to my hotel while visiting for business. Once again, Yelp reviewers didn't let me down. Don't be sceptical about a small Chinese restaurant in a strip center. It was delicious! The place is very clean. Wait staff was perfectly attentive and polite. I started with egg drop soup which was hot and tasty. It was seasoned to perfection. I had lettuce wraps for my meal. There was more than I could eat. The lettuce was cold and crisp. The filling was perfect. I will definitely go back when I'm in the area again. There was also a steady stream of locals picking up takeout - always a good sign!

Food: Delicious & Authentic Chinese food. Staff: Attentive & professional. Deco: Classy Asian interior design but could use some booths.

Pretty good! It would get 5/5 stars if my husband had liked his food and if the chicken was a little better. I got the yin yang chicken. Soooooooo amazing. Kind of reminded me of a garlicky mix of general Tso's and sweet and sour chicken. I always order General Tso's when I get Chinese, but I took a chance on this and was not disappointed. I'm really picky about chicken and texture. This chicken was okay. I couldn't tell if it was white or dark meat. Some pieces were a little overcooked, but there were none of those weird pieces that you have to spit out that I find are pretty common in Chinese food. I was a little disappointed that there is no upgrading from steamed rice to fried rice. I had to order an entire order of fried rice on top of my steamed rice. Egg roll was pretty good. Not the best I've ever had. But their sweet and sour and hot mustard dips it came with were delicious. My husband ordered Kung Pao chicken. It looked disgusting to be honest and he couldn't eat much of it. The chicken was all dark meat and looked scary! We didn't send it back or anything. He just shared mine. He also had the hot and sour soup which he loved. We plan to go back sometime.

Pretty sure this is the best Chinese I've had. Amazing crab rangoons and Yin Yang Chicken! This place won't disappoint!

I was traveling and you know how it is... Chinese restaurant in a strip mall... I can't say enough, you miss this one, and you missed out! Drunken noodles out of this world! Lettuce wraps to die for, service fantastic! Don't miss it! Or you miss out... 6 star!!

Was in Flint, MI for work and looking for a good spot nearby. Went on yelp and saw good reviews for for Lotus so decided to give it a try. Ordered the drunken noodles with beef, chicken, and shrimp and it was amazing! Best Chinese I've ever had. Also, ordered the crab Rangoon which was lightly fried, fresh, and delicious; highly recommend. This place was awesome!

Very good food, and so clean you could eat off the floor. Jack is the man!

Finally got around to trying Lotus Room, after hearing so many things about it. First impression - the interior could have a little more character, but it is spotlessly clean. And we were welcomed by a very welcoming, energetic waitress. We started with the Lettuce Wraps. Then moved on to General Chicken, Mongolian Beef, and Chicken Fried Rice. I have had other places in town I consider tasty Chinese, but this place blows it all away. It is approached as a real restaurant, striving to provide great fresh ingredients - and they succeed. The Lettuce Wraps were very good, I had them once before at the chain restaurant "Changs" but these we much better. The General Chicken was obviously fresh and lightly breaded, came out piping hot - and the sauce was very flavorful. Finally, I loved the Mongolian Beef. I have alway liked the Mongolian Beef at Empress of China, but this was just more fresh, and the flavors spot on. I really can't wait to go back!

Thankfully no buffet and the all that goes with the buffet style places. Lotus room was very clean, staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Wife had a seasonal salad that was outstanding. Egg drop soup and egg roll was yummy too. Despite other reviewers raves about the General Tao chichen, I thought it sucked. Nearly all of the chicken was dark meat and it was very rubbery. The breading was hand done, and i'v e had better sauce, it seemed like it was sitting in soy sauce. I will try it again and ask for only white meat. Definitely the best Chinese food in the area.

We have been looking for a good chinese restaurant in the Flint area for years and now we have finally found one. I had kung pao chicken and my husband had the sweet and sour chicken and we found both to be wonderfully delicious. The vegetables were fresh and cooked just right. The chicken was very tender. We heard that the interior needed more character but we thought it was very nicely done. We were quite giddy when we left having found this jewel of a place.

The restaurant is in a nice strip center, if such a thing exists. The service was prompt and the place was very clean. The hot and sour soup was spicy and delicious! The egg drop soup was good as well. My eating companions enjoyed their Mongolian Beef, Cashew Chicken and General Tso's Chicken. My Shrimp with Vegetables...well, the veggies were good because they were still crisp, but the shrimp was overcooked. The 'fried rice' that came with the lunch specials wasn't great. The crab rangoon was good. The portions were good sized and the prices were more than reasonable. I'll definitely be back.

Like other reviewers, we were looking for a good Chinese restaurant that wasn't a buffet. After reading the reviews of the Lotus Room, we decided to try it and are so glad we did! It's set in a strip mall and hard to see from the road, but make the effort to find it. The restaurant's decor and menu are as simple as they come, but the food and service are outstanding. The wait staff is friendly without overdoing it and brought drinks immediately. I ordered the Hot and Sour soup and it came without wait. (a little more "sour" than I'm used to, but it could be an acquired taste.) My companion order the General Tao's chicken and said he has never tasted better. The chicken was fresh and moist and the batter was superior to anything we've ever tasted in that dish. I ordered the Tou Fu Vegetables and it was amazing! Fresh vegetables, lightly sauteed in a brown sauce with plenty of tofu. I had enough left over for lunch another day and when I asked the served for a box to take the leftovers home, she asked if I wanted to take additional rice home to have a complete lunch! That was a first for me. One other thing to note--the prices are extremely reasonable. Dinner for two, including the soup and tea was around $25.00. We're already planning our next trip back here and plan to make it a regular takeout spot as well. Make the effort to find this place--you won't be disappointed here.

Been looking for good, fresh Chinese food in the area for a while and I think I have finally found it at the Lotus Room. Went here on the recommendations of my fellow Yelpers with my 17 year old son. The setting is simple and unpretentious, the wait staff is professional, engaging and attentive, and the menu, although limited, contains sufficient variety so that everyone can get what they are looking for. Started with the hot and sour soup, a spring roll and the Lotus double sticks (seasoned chicken and beef). The hot and sour was the best I have had here locally and contains surprising heat that lingers without being too spicy going down. The spring roll was good, the contents excellent, but the wrapper was more akin to an egg roll than a traditional spring roll. The double sticks were awesome, my son ate most of the chicken while I had the beef. Seasoned and marinated well, and made with good cuts of meat, not the 'parts is parts' experience of some other places. For the entrees, I had the Imperial Garlic (beef) which, despite the warnings, was more nuanced and flavorful than overwhelmingly garlicky. My son had the General Taos chicken which seems to be hand breaded and fried chunks of chicken in a mildly spicy and extremely flavorful sauce. Recommend to let this dish sit for a bit and let the chicken soak up the sauce for extra flavor. No room for dessert. Also overheard the waitress taking a special order and off the menu request from an adjacent table with no qualms. Great food, great service! We'll be back! Update: 26 December 2013. Made it back here with boy on Winter break after an earlier attempt over Thanksgiving weekend which found them closed. Same waitress as our last trip here, and she provided the same excellent service. The boy opted for the General Taos chicken gain which was just as good as the last time. I opted to mix it up and ordered the Kung Pao beef. A couple of things I have to say about this dish: first, it was nothing at all like I expected. Not sure if it was because I ordered it with beef instead of chicken, but it came in a base of very flavorful and slightly spicy brown gravy. Never seen that before on Kung Pao and don't know if I will see it again, but there it was. Second, and most importantly, it was delicious! The rice they serve here is sticky but not overly dense and worked well to soak up the gravy so nothing was lost. Extra points awarded for the improvement to the spring roll wrapper as it now more the traditional rice paper texture while still maintaining the size and quality of the last visit here. This may be one of those traditional dinners out when the boy is home!

Literally the best Chinese food you will ever put into your mouth. I will always order the Drunken Noodles and crab Rangoon, but ALL the food is good. You will seriously never find a crab Rangoon that is better then Jacks. Also get his hot mustard for dipping, he makes it himself! I have never worked here, I just frequent the place and have asked a million questions. This is the best food ever!

The food was excellent, as was the service. We were pleasantly surprised by our experience here and highly recommend it! We spent $20 between the two of us and had plenty of food and left full and satisfied.

Excellent service! All the times we have visited we have had friendly and attentive waitresses. Food is delicious. Atmosphere is clean and cozy. Try the beef bul koki (bulgogi). Its korean bbq beef. The vegetarian dishes are good too. Fiance is in love w/the crab cheese! I'm such a foodie that I ravaged my whole dinner portion.

This is the first time I used Yelp to help me decide a location to eat dinner. It did not disappoint. First and foremost the exterior of the restaurant was/is unassuming ... it does not relate to what you will encounter inside. Second, as you walk in you are welcomed by awards and certificates of "great service" and "great food" all awarded by the locals. Third, the restaurant has a low light, warm, and friendly atmosphere. The staff was great and served with smiles...I also overheard them taking very good care of a customer who was not happy with the egg roll appetizer (young girl probably does not like vegtables). Finally, the food was excellent - I had an egg roll and soup to start along with tea to drink. I had the sweet and sour chicken with white rice for main meal. The pricing was fair and certainly worth it - I was very pleased with the whole experience. I'm a fan.

This is the best Chinese restaurant in the Flint area. Located in a very tiny strip mall, the place is not too large and simple in decor. The service was super! The dishes we had were also super! We had both seafood and meat and both were very well prepared. Unlike other Chinese restaurant in the area, the seasoning was much more light and not as salty. We liked the vegetarian listing on the menu and ordered a plate. Very nice indeed! We were really enjoyed our lunch. We hope to make it back for dinner.

What a wonderful surprise!! We don't have Chinese food this good where I live, there would be a line out the door if we did. The service is outstanding as is the food. You can tell the owner chooses everything with care from his employees to the ingredients for his kitchen. I will be back here many times. Enjoy!!

Good Chinese cuisine, that is always freshly prepared. Love the lunch specials. The Chef will prepare entrees with specific requests. Nice quiet setting in a strip mall on the corner of Hill and Torrey roads across from the Meijers at the Hill road exit off US-23.

Good Chinese place. They have good, high quality food compared to a lot of places in the area, but I have not found anything that I really LOVE here. Their Crab Rangoon is really good though and I know that their Mongolian Beef is some of the best - haven't tried that yet. I can't ever get away from Kung Pao anything. I'll keep going and I'll work my way around the menu because I do have hope for this place.
