LOVE this place !! Ive been stopping here for as long as I've been going "up north" & have to feed my steak, mushroom & onion addiction. Yes, they ARE addicting but it's a good addiction. Usually, I will bring 2 home for my hubby to savor & enjoy. The last time I was there (2 weekends ago) I informed the staff that I wanted my sandwiches double wrapped. They suggested placing everything in separate containers & I could heat them up when I was ready to eat. Great idea!! This was such a perfect solution to my problem that I will now buy even more of this subwich. Wish I had enough $$ to open a Big John's here in Brighton as I know it would be a success. But, maybe not, as I'd probably eat all the profits.

I wish we had a Big Johns down south. I grew up with Big Johns and every time I come home to Michigan my first stop is Big Johns. Awesome steak sandwich....not to mention loaded with cheese and mushrooms. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about one.

A very average steak hoagie. Went here recently and had the super steak and onion. For starters, they have no sides with their sandwiches (outside of chips) which is a major subtraction, then the red sauce that they give on the side is very nasty, not good at all. Now for the hoagie itself, its flat out average, nothing special (meat could be seasoned more, better bread, etc). Would i eat here again: probably not.

Big johns is a Flint staple. The super steak with red sauce add mayo is one of the best good options Flint has to offer.

You can't go wrong with a Big John's. This sub has been a staple for years. If you're a meatatarian and dig a hearty steak sammich then treat yourself.
I was introduced to Big John's by a good friend who lives in Flint and I went in with no expectations. Ommigosh! Every subsequent visit to Flint included a trip to Big John's. Delicious cheesesteaks (get two and make sure to get a large sandwich with extra meat) with their signature "red sauce" that you can BUY!!!!!!!! I had a bottle at home and just realized as I'm typing this that I need a new one. While Arby's BBQ sauce doesn't work the same magic at home, BJ's red sauce does well on many different items so I'd suggest snagging some along with your sandwich. My only question is why there isn't one in Washtenaw County?

We all know that Michigan's economy is crumbling, but some culinary jems remain. Out of all of the great comfort foods in Michigan, the absolute best in my opinion is Big John's Steak & Onion. ( bigjohnsteakandonion.net ) The taste of this shredded grilled Ribeye with the caramelized onions, topped with banana peppers and their famous "red sauce" makes me salivate all the way from Las Vegas. And who could forget the hoagie buns that everything is piled onto? I can't say enough about this place. I've eaten all across the country and have tasted some delicious goodness that earns the highest of praise, but my mouth keeps longing for another bite of one of these steak & onions. So much so that I make my mother bring me out a few every time she comes to visit us. These subs are similar to a Philly, but very different in taste.
