Love love love this place!!! Chloe has waited on me many times! I love her. She is very helpful when it comes to helping me decide and she is also very efficient when it comes to service. The decor is best in the state of Michigan!! Check this place out!

Had a great experience. Sat at the bar and had drinks and sushi. You must try the calamari. They have very good sushi rolls also. Try the Envy and California tempura.

The sushi itself is good and tastes fresh. I am only giving three stars for service and price. I have been to Crave twice since they have opened in Ferndale. They kept the decor the same as when it was John D Bistro. The rolls individually priced are on the expensive side. They do offer all you can eat sushi on maki rolls for $19 on Tuesdays. The restaurant was full for this. They brought out our rolls out only one or two at a time for the table, timing was very spaced out. We had a long wait and were all full by the time the rest of our sushi came out. Plan to stay for a long meal.

I tried the "all you can eat sushi" and I won't be back. The sushi had mostly rice with hardly any fish/vegetables inside. We had to wait over 45 minutes and they only brought out one of our rolls each. I didn't even bother ordering more. The manager then rambled on about one of their pricey rolls trying to sell it to me when that roll was not even included in the limited selection for the "all you can eat special". Honestly the worst sushi I've had in a long time.

First time here - we do not plan to return. We all had salads and entrees so cannot comment on the sushi. First it took quite a while to place our orders. We shared 2 salads between 4 people, then each person ordered an entree. The salads were tasty, but quite small, given the price. Regarding entrees - overall food was just OK. Salmon was overcooked, nothing special for a $22 price tag. Came with carrots or broccolini which were both undercooked. The peanut crusted tofu was very tasty, but there were only 4 pieces of tofu, not really an entree size. So, overall not impressed with the food or portion size, especially given the price point. Did not order any wine, as again the prices seemed quite high ($9-$11/glass). As noted by other reviewers - the service was very poor. Waitress was no where to be seen most of the evening. Had difficulty getting water refilled and needed to track her down to ask for the bill.

The sushi was pretty good but it didn't make up for the poor service. We waited for at least 15 minutes for our waitress to show up...then she left and didn't come back for at least another 15 minutes...we saw her standing in the back of the restaurant doing nothing. The first plate of rolls came out with no wasabi. The different rolls came out at random times. They sat us at a table for two but there were four of us. They wouldn't split the bill for us. Probably won't be back.

So excited to go for a Friday 4pm Happy Hour and upon arrival the door was locked. A staff member came to unlock it and inform us they don't open until 5pm. Ohhhh take a look at your door and social media posts, I beg to differ! No open arms welcome to my Ferndale neighborhood!

I went in around 8:30pm on a Saturday night. There were open tables, and they said they did not take reservations, so I assume they were open at that time. They sat us at the very lit sushi bar. We waited a bit before approached by our server, took awhile for our drinks to arrive, but the worst part was that we didn't get served our sushi until after 10pm. I was ready to walk out. Seriously! Over an hour to get our food. I was sooo not impressed and will not go back. Glad I tried and know now.

I've been here a few times now and it's usually a good experience. The food is great and the ambiance is really nice. The menu has a nice variety, especially if you're dining with people who aren't huge sushi fans. Prices overall are a little high, but not unreasonable. Everything I have tried has been delicious, save for one of their craft cocktails I wasn't a huge fan of called The Perfect D, but the Koi definitely made up for it. There are some really great sushi rolls (I love the Crunchy roll), their carpaccio is great, and the Truffled Mac & Cheese is on point! We ordered the side of Wild Mushrooms and mixed it with the mac and it was divine. I've had Chloe as my server twice now and she's fantastic! Very nice and made great recommendations for the table. The only time we didn't have Chloe, our server was still nice but once the restaurant got packed we kind of fell to the wayside and it took a really long time to get our food. Probably not the server's fault, but still a little annoying since we had places to be. Minor detail: If you're seated in the front during sunset, be prepared to be blinded by the sun for a good amount of time. A couple that was next to us actually asked to move since it was so bad. I hope they remedy this soon!

The sushi is fresh and overall well-done. I think that's their saving grace. That said, the prices are ridiculous. I would expect to pay what they charge for a high-end sushi restaurant in the middle New York, but in Ferndale? Come on. The waitstaff was also clueless. Our waitress had no sense of social queues and clearly no etiquette training. It just cheapened the experience. Overall, Crave is charging for an experience they just can't pull off.

I recently had breakfast on a Sunday at Crave. Crave is trying to deliver an upscale breakfast experience at upscale prices. that would be fine if the breakfast was worth the prices. Crave charges $4.00 for a la carte toast and "jam."The jam is not jam but jelly and the toast is processed bread from a bag. The french press coffee is a nice idea, however by the time you drink the second cup from the french press carafe, the coffee is cold. If you order fresh that will be another $5.00. I was hoping Crave would be a welcome option for breakfast in Ferndale, but there are too many things that they just don't get right to bring me back.

Sushi is just OK. Doesn't hold a candle to Ronin or Blufinn in GP. Their specialty rolls definitely don't justify the $16-$17 prices. Rolls are dry. They're good but not great. Basic rolls a much better value. Edamame was unique and good. Cocktails are good. Wine overpriced with weak pours. Service very good and attentive. Didn't try anything on the main entree list which looked very good based on what was being brought out. Bottom line is don't expect the best sushi but it's better than Inyo.

I had such high hopes for this place. It looked great. Everything in the menu sounded great. That's where the positives end. Service was BAD. The staff would rather talk to each other than the customers. There was a fan blowing on us that was uncomfortably cold. We were told that the owner controls it from home and it could not be adjusted. Our sushi came out in 15-20 minute increments. I would have loved to compare the different selections, but I was stuck eating one then waiting an unusually long time for the next. There are a lot of sushi options in the area. Pick one of the others.

We went to Crave last night for dinner. We had a lovely experience. The staff was very friendly and efficient. It was quiet, we were there on a Tuesday evening so there were not a lot of people there. The atmosphere was chic and relaxing. The food was delicious. We ordered several sushi rolls and the pommes frittes. The sushi was unique and yummy. The pommes frittes were delicious. The only thing I would didn't care for was that our sushi rolls came out individually several minutes between each roll. I prefer to be served all dishes at the same time. The waiter did warn us that the food comes out separately. I think they should work on fixing that. I understand sushi may come out separately from hot foot but I would expect all of the sushi at the same time. My martini was perfect and hit the spot as well! It was still great and I will definitely go back.

There aren't enough words to accurately describe how horrible my experience here was. Went there for brunch on a Sunday with a group of 6. The waitress hardly stopped by our table, brought out multiple wrong food orders, the food was cold, the eggs for the crab cake Benedict were honestly hard boiled. Our table had 2 orders of the Benedict and the sauces were different and not hollandaise. The food was brought out 45 mins after ordering and not all at the same time. I didn't receive my meal until everyone else was finished with theirs. The Kobe beef sliders tasted like nothing. No seasoning or anything. At no point did the waitress come check on us or our food. After asking for the bill and waiting for 20 mins without any response we left cash for the overpriced terrible meals and left. How is this place even in business? Can't speak to their sushi but definitely go somewhere else for brunch, waiting literally anywhere else is worth it.

I really wish I could give this place more stars because the sushi was very good... But unfortunately it was not worth a 2 hour wait. We had a group of 4 and made a reservation, we were seated right away but then the waiting game started. It took about 20 minutes for our first drinks to come out, and about 2 hours for our sushi to come out and longer for the bills. The server came over and apologized for the wait and asked one member of our table of they would like a complementary drink for the wait (keep in mind there were 4 of us at the table and we were all waiting 2 hours for sushi). We asked to speak to the manager and he really did try to make our experience better comping us 2 rounds and apologizing. But we continued to wait even after, it took the server 30 minutes to get us the bill after asking (yes we timed it). The dining experience was over 3 hours, which is just insane. So while the sushi really was great, due to the dining experience I won't be coming back here.

Coming from the service industry, treated like shit, poor service the food was better than it was when it was john d's but still not that great philidelphia roll was sub par. Was told they would not seperate the bill for us after serving us drinks all night, who wants to do math after that? Gave the waitress a shit tip because she didnt even offer to split it herself which wpuld in my opinion would have been the professional thing to do was then spoken to rudely and was thanked for the yelp review you know after they added the automatic gratituty to the bill so professional. Like i said treated like shit all for wanting the bill split.

Came here for all you can eat sushi Tuesdays. I saw it has mix reviews, mostly with service. But we experienced none of that. Our water came often & food was good timing. They did have 3 sushi chef on hand so food came fast. We came right before 7 so it wasnt too busy either. The price was $19/person for sushi off the makiroll selection. Its a good deal since the sushi here is on the pricey side, but you are in ferndale. The sushi was delicious! The pricey rolls are big so worth the price, but i felt like some of the small/cheaper rolls lack fish and are smaller. Here are some of our favorites.... We ended up with 10 rolls for 2 people. It was alot! But definitely worth the price. Recommend: Tuna crunch : so good! Seared tuna, rolled in seaweed wrapper & a hint of avocado. Topped with spicy sauce. This was definitely worth trying! We got another one later California roll with king crab : classic cali with king crab, never had this before but i felt like it was worth it! Its a different texture and taste. Definitely enjoyed it. Soft shell crab roll : big roll, crunchy with soy wrapper Caterpillar roll : an eel lovers roll.

I have mixed feelings about my experience at Crave. We had a 7pm reservation for a Friday evening, we were kind of surprised when we arrived and there was only one other table in the whole place. The inside is very small with just a hand full of tables and a small bar area. The biggest disappointment of the evening was the service. Not only was out server lacking any kind of enthusiasm or personality she was MIA for most of the night. There were several times we were looking for her (water refill, to ask a question about the menu) and she was nowhere to be found....which is strange because again this place is super tiny! My friend and I both ordered a glass of wine, their wine menu is slightly confusing because a large portion of it is dedicated to bottles not glasses. We also placed an order for appetizers: edamame and calamari. The edamame came out 25 mins later (why????) but no calamari in sight. 20 mins after that our sushi and calamari came out, which was annoying because we would have liked to enjoy our appetizers first. On the bright side, the food was all very good, minus the edamame which was simply ok. I enjoy the edamame at Ronin more. For sushi we had the 9 Mile and Manhattan rolls which were both fresh and tasty. The calamari was also delicious and prepared in a very different way than most places. I'd say 4-5 stars on food. However, service and speed were more like a 2. Our server never checked in on us once we had our food, the only reason we got water was because the bus boy brought it out and we had to ask him to find her for our bill. So my feelings are mixed. Oh and the prices are a bit over the top $17 sushi rolls!

First time trying this place and did not enjoy it at all. Ordered 6 different rolls and all the rolls tasted very similar. So not worth the money. There isn't one sushi roll that I would come back for. Service was incredibly slow as well. Took 30 minutes to get one roll on a Tuesday night.

5 stars for Food, Service, Wine List & Atmosphere. First impression: Super friendly staff, great vibe, unbelievable food and they have happy hour on the weekends!! Our waitress was great! A nice dining experience all around. We started with the calamari, it was unique in that it had an "Asian fusion" type teriyaki sauce and was perfectly crisped. It as also the long strips instead of the rings, which I prefer. We also had the California tempura roll ~ it was phenomenal. The ingredients were fresh and the tempura didn't overpower the flavors of the traditional California roll ingredients. Both had the watermelon salad, this was a great, refreshing twist on the traditional salad scene. The ingredients are simple, and perfectly portioned so that each bite ideally blends each flavor. The flavor and perfect flavor combinations continued on at dinner ~ I had the branzino and my husband the rib eye. I feel like I'd just be repeating myself if I went on to say how perfectly flavored the unique dishes are. Essentially ~ it comes down to the fact that the chef really knows how to blend unique flavors in all the right ways. Dessert was more of the same.

I'm pretty loyal to my Sushi restaurants (#noblefishforpresident) but when a friend told me they had all you can eat sushi for 19 bucks here I had to check it out. If you are familiar with the previous occupant here - John D - Crave basically just added a sushi bar, the rest looks the exact same. We came in and were quoted 45 minutes but luckily were seated after around 3 minutes or so. I'm not going to give a play by play of how everything came out for our meal, I will just summarize it with these bullet points - we were at our table for over 2 hours - I am unsure of if we got everything that was ordered - at one point we were unsure if this was the slowest service ever, or our waitress had just forgotten to put our order in - it was the first option - the server had no idea who ordered what and neither did we - extreme gaps of time between food delivery I do not think I would bother with the all you can eat sushi in the future. We debated if they were so slow to discourage you from getting it again? The sushi was ok

Although I have a lot of great memories of going to crave in Dearborn, and even though it was worth the drive, I'm so happy that there is now Crave Ferndale. This is the kind of sushi that your mouth craves. I actually didn't intend on the pun, there really isn't any other word to describe it. The atmosphere is definitely chic and sexy, a great place for a romantic dinner. The food is phenomenal and beyond anyone's expectations for sushi. They even prepare their edamame with an edge. My favorites are the tuna salad, the volcano roll and the short ribs, but literally everything on the menu is awesome. I can't wait to go again!

Mmmmmm it's only been 12 hours since I've left- but I'm already craving some more crave!!!! Went there for a dinner with friends last night and to watch the MSU bball game... Was a little hesitant when I stepped in because I loved- I mean loved john d so much. So obviously I had high hopes for crave, which trust me, they did not disappoint. The thing I love about crave is the variety of the menu. Yea, they have amazing sushi. However, not everyone is up to the sushi challenge- but they also have other amazing dishes like the street tacos, which were made with prime beef, Gouda, and an amazing salsa verde. Our party also ordered the beef short rib. Wow... I've never had beef that literally just fell off the bone if you touched it. Amazing stuff kids. To satisfy my sushi craving, my partner in crime and I decided to go for the lobster roll, and the envy roll. If you have never tried these rolls at crave, I suggest you stop what you are doing and go there immediately. They will not disappoint!!!!!

Sushi and service were good. The happy hour deals were not that attractive price wise but very tasty! I liked the ambiance of this place as John D and was excited to see they hadn't changed the interior now that it is Crave. Still the same chill mod environment as John D but different food. Two thumbs up!

I used to go to Crave frequently when it was located in Dearborn so I was happy to see it opened in Ferndale, which is much closer to where I live. The staff and service was great, as was the food. The only thing lacking was the South Beach like decor that was in the Dearborn local.

Great restaurant with amazing variety!!! The wait staff was very attentive. I would come here again!
The Sunday brunch was absolutely terrible. No question they are scamming you. Fresh squeezed orange juice $3.50 for an 8 oz glass, I watched our waitress pour it out of a Country Fresh, gas station find, gallon jug. Knew instantly what it was, the waitress tried to say it was the real deal. From then on everything on the menu was in question. Organic eggs, not! Toughest "steak and eggs" Ive ever eaten. This place is a total sham and it shows. Maybe the sushi is good idk. We were the only people in there. Chicken and waffles was something you would find at like a carnival, disgusting. AVOID!

I'm still sitting here an hour after ordering my food with no food in front of me. Tuesday is all you can eat sushi for $20 but the selection is limited. Regardless, it is unacceptable to come into a place of business, especially a restaurant, and have to wait an hour to get what you ordered. Don't offer all you can eat if you can't even prepare the food in a timely manner or Hire more sushi chefs. Other than that, the sushi was decent

I went here on a Friday night with a couple girlfriends and we did not have a reservation. We were immediately seated at the sushi bar although they were packed and we had service immediately. Our server was Sandy and she was wonderful. Attentive and so sweet and knowledgeable of the menu. We ordered salad, tuna, and quite a few rolls. All items were fresh and amazing! Great location, service, and food. Highly recommend this restaurant. For some reason it is so much better than the Dearborn location.

I'm a frequent Crave diner, so when I heard they now have brunch and bottomless mimosas, it was a no brainier! Had to try it! Let me tell you, they never disappoint. I tried the Huevos Rancheros, French Toast, and the Eggs Your Way... Amazing. Will be back soon!

Prices are still a little crazy but I find myself back here weekly and wanting to come back more frequently than that even. The sushi is really some of the best I've had in the area and it's definitely the very best in Ferndale, hands down! That aside, their menu is all pretty fantastic, they make a great cocktail, service is always perfect and it's never too crowded to sit at either bar. We tried the Asian Bao Buns which were really light and pillowy, and full of flavor. They're not likely as good as you might get at a dim sum joint but pretty solid. At 3 for $12 they're worth trying once or twice. The beet salad was more salad than beets but a nice spin-off of a new trendy dish. Their Truffle Mac n' Cheese though, it was great! I'd recommend it highly if you're not in the mood for sushi...or even if you are and find yourself wanting something loaded with tasty carbs. I'm really liking Crave. I had only been to John D's once during it's stint in town, and even though it impressed me this spot was meant for Crave.

Sushi is one of my favorite types of food to order, so I can say that I have tried a lot of places. Crave, however, exceeded my expectations. Not only is the atmosphere unique by having bi-level seating and upscale, trendy decor, but the variety of rolls available was impressive. One of the rolls I had was the "Ferndale" roll, and it was phenomenal. I have never had flavors like that come together in a roll. I look forward to every time we visit.

Cool atmosphere at the Ferndale location. Every roll is good and the dinner is even better.

CRAVE has a great happy hour menu and it's a nice long happy hour (4-6:30). The décor and space is awesome. Sushi is great. Service is ok. It was not very busy when I was there (maybe half full), and our server was not very attentive. Took a very long time to get drinks, order, etc. Will definitely go back and hope for a better server!

Sushi is amazing!! The Branzino and Filet were cooked perfect . Went for brunch the first time last week and my huevos rancheros is my new favorite brunch item! Beautiful, sexy ambiance perfect for a date night. I would highly recommend to any on my friends. LOVE IT HERE!!!
